What race should I make my OC?

I really want to make a OC, but I can't decide what race it should be. Help please?

Alicorn. Challenge yourself into making a character so interesting and with a backstory that gives it the right to be an alicorn.

 

Or a griffin. Don't see many of them.

What I did when making OCs was decide on a general theme, their history/occupation/personality, the essential core of what makes a character. Then you build appearance and name from that core, so they both reference it. So I'm recommending a good sit down, brainstorming and writing down the key points of your character. Then pick out a name that's relevant to that!

You could try looking at your OC's backstory, but I'd say it could be a Bat Pony.

Bat Ponies are rare and pretty unique. It's actually one of my favourite races alongside Pegasus.

Well what is the character like? Form should follow function when it comes to character, especially ones in a universe that's animated and expressive. So knowing a bit about what he/she is like would help us choose, or at least myself.
