You know, it's a possibility that the Time Eater could have "eaten" the exact event of '06 being erased, but I don't think SEGA would have seen that as a good idea to consider. Even if it (Time Eater) did, Modern and Classic Sonic restored time in the end, so it wouldn't have mattered. I understand what you're saying though, for the time of the game's story. ^^

And lel, I forgot about that, but no, they didn't. It's one of those "cartoony" situations where he just gets out somehow.  >_>

Oh well. Cartoony situations are fun too. Just didn't know if they actually explained it.

Sega already played with time and it's paradoxical effects on several occasions. I don't think adding string theory is too much of a stretch.

I completely agree, as SomeCallMeJohnny once said in his Sonic '06 review, time travel is a very touchy thing to write on. One error and you can completely screw everything up in the story. Especially in Sonic '06, so many plot holes it looked like wiss cheese.

I really gotta replay Sonic 06 cuz I don't remember much about the overall story. When I first played it I didn't see any plot holes but someone pointed out a few to me after the fact and I still couldn't see them. i was kinda dumb a few years ago though. I'll try to see them next time I play.

Have you heard of the infamous Clement review? This guy completely trashes Sonic '06 in every way, shape, and form. There's little praise, obviously for the soundtrack. You should give it a watch sometime, I believe I barely had any disagreements with his review. But heed my warning, it's a long review. Actually, I believe it's around 3.5 hours.

That is definitely a longass review. I don't typically watch reviews period but if he goes that far in-depth it might be worth checking out.

I've gotta replay Generations' story so maybe they gave some hints but I'd say that he's at least from the end of the Death Egg. Depending on how much time there was before then and Adventure Sonic would have grown over time into what he was in Adventure: The taller, skinnier and more attitude-prone hedgehog we know today.

It's been kind of confusing when thinking of it. He appears in Green Hill, which makes me think he's from Sonic 1, but he knows the Spin Dash, so he would have to be at least from Sonic 2, but why is he in Green Hill then? I always thought maybe he was visiting, but we can't really be certain. Also, he knows Tails and can use Super Transformation, but who's to say Generations wasn't Classic's first time going Super Sonic? We can't really be sure of anything.  >_>

Point is: Generations had no story to really talk about, and the Spin Dash is almost as abuse-able as it was in Adventure 1. :P

Sonic Generations had a story, it wasn't much, but there was still one to work with.

I can somewhat agree with your statement on the Spin Dash, it's pretty OP'd for Classic Sonic.

If you know how to abuse it, you can partially skip sections of Classic City Escape and Classic Crisis City, something I do every time I play Generations.

Hey, it was better than Lost World's story, which I hated.

Oh yes, that's mostly what I was referring to. I don't think the Spin Dash has ever been as powerful as it is with Classic Sonic in Sonic Generations.

While I didn't completely flat out hate Sonic Lost World's story, it did have a better and more built one than Generations. Although I did see a few scenes where the characters were completely OoC.

A few I can remember:

Off the top of my head, and recently watching the entire story for Lost World, I can remember when Sonic kicked the conch out of Eggman's hand without taking caution or listening to Tails. Sonic can be reckless sometimes, but it just doesn't really seem like him to just jump into something like that without at least getting Tail's input on that. Especially when Tails told Sonic to wait before he ran to make his move.

Another example would be Tails almost through the entire story. We know he's literally a kid, but why act like it now? Tails acted like a spoiled brat around the end of the game, especially when they teamed up with Eggman. I really didn't like how he was portrayed in this game at all. Even if he did act his age, it doesn't make sense to wait this long in the Sonic series to actually show Tails doing so. I enjoyed his more mature attitude than this.

As for Eggman, he wasn't that bad in this game, but the part that stands out the most is when he told the Deadly Six that he would "get fat eating their black hearts". That was dark, especially for a Sonic game. This line was around Shadow the Hedgehog dark. Something I never expected to hear in a Sonic game since Shadow's game.

Adventure 1's Spin Dash was more abuse able to me.

Lost World, while having a more complete story, had some character derailment with Sonic and Tails. I still call bull on the fact that Tails can fix a super computer with a toothpick and laundry detergent. That's impossible, I don't care how smart you are.

Yes, Adventure's is very abusive. But Classic's in Generations is a lot more powerful, so you can abuse it a lot easier.

You never know, maybe it is possible, but we're not smart enough to understand how.

Oh, we're talking about pure power? Yeah, Generations gave the Spin Dash a massive upgrade. Too bad Super Sonic had a massive downgrade to make up for it. :/

I don't like the way the Spin Dash worked in Generations. I get they wanted to modernize it but the fact that I couldn't transition into it by pressing down annoyed me. Dunno if it's just because I'm so used to it being that way or the way it was done was just dumb though.

Are you talking about doing it the old fashioned way? You can still do it that way if you want.

If you're talking about running to rolling transition, it does feel a bit weird sometimes, but it's miles better than how 4 Episode 1 had it.

I'm talking about when you go from running to rolling. If I remember right you can't just press down to start rolling.

How did Sonic 4 handle it? I've yet to play it.

I haven't played Generations in a while, but I remember being able to do that.

Imagine Sonic Rush Adventure's platforming, if you played that, but much looser and floatier, with some really bad physics. Rolling makes you SLOWER!

Hard to imagine, really. I'm definitely gonna have to play it for myself. I've never been overly fond of 2D platforming though which is why I haven't gotten it yet.

I have played Rush Adventure though and it's definitely one of my favorites.

The only real problem I have with (Modern) Super Sonic in Generations is his guided and ring inhaling boost, I can't stand it. If the transformation w/boost has a normal ring consumption, along with being able to freely guide Sonic as he boosts, it would have been perfect, and 100 times more enjoyable to me, personally.

I've always known Classic to be able to turn to a ball while running just by pressing down.

Of course, I'm sure you've heard the ranting and raving of how displeased fans were with Sonic 4. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, despite not being a fan of classic style gameplay, loved the added homing attack move. The biggest known complaint is the physics being way off from the classics.

I actually find this common rant to be just silly. SEGA put a lot of work into designing a game to fit the classic series, just to satisfy the fans, but all SEGA get in return is ranting and complaining. It's a wonder SEGA still puts up with the fans.  >_>

Marine plz

I only ever played the demo for Sonic 4 but I don't remember the physics being that bad. It's more "it's different and we should condemn them for not making Sonic & Knuckles 2.0" bullshit from the looks of it.

I loved Marine. Not sure why they decided to make Sticks look exactly like her but whatever. I still think from what little sound bits we got that Sticks is gonna be one of the best guest characters in the series.

I know I'm not the only one who thought they were bringing Marine back when her concept art was first shown.

I completely agree, I loved Sonic 4 despite its many "flaws" according to die-hard classic fans.

I haven't seen that much of her myself so far, but she does look like an interesting character!

Of course, I believe everyone thought Marine was getting a complete reboot herself.

I'm kinda glad that the Archie Sonic series acknowledges that Marine is annoying, and she gets joked on a lot. :)

I personally hate Sonic 4 Episode 1, due to it's lack of any originality, mediocre level design, and awful physics. Yes, those ARE important to a Sonic game, because that's what made Sonic stand apart from other platformers.

I also thought Sticks was going to be Marine. I wouldn't have minded a rewrite of her to be honest.

See, now these are some of the things I really don't care too much about. If it has Sonic in it, I'm going to enjoy it one way or another, I don't usually have bad things to say about a Sonic game unless they really bother me, but for every other part, I enjoy every Sonic game. I honestly rarely complain about them, and are often supporting them, even one of his worst games like Sonic '06.

I agree, seeing a redo of Marine would be interesting! Maybe make her a little older.

While it's on my mind, I wish they would make younger characters a little older, Tails isn't even a teenager yet, but I know that characters don't usually age in the Sonic universe.
