gaming A game that you think shouldn't be rated "E"

A game that I simply think should not be rated "E" but perhaps should be rated "T" would be Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie honestly.

I mean, sure, the game was set for an "everyone" audience, but the game did have certain terms and junk. Yeah, some of the terms were mainly "British" terms, but I remember in Banjo Tooie, one boss you had to fight had blood come out. In my humble opinion, Banjo kazooie and Tooie just should be set to rated "T" more or less.

That one Kirby game, Kirby's Dreamland 3 I think

It's rated E for everyone

When it should be rated E for Exploding Eyeballs

Anyone who ever played the game knows what I'm talking about. The part with the bloody eye that comes off of a bigger eye, leaving blood on the bigger eye then proceeds to shoot you with blood.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

When you really think about it, and what's in that game, then you will wonder why the game was rated E. It's definitely not a kid's game, nowhere close to being one.

Ooooo good one. Yes, I know what you're talking about.

For me, that moon was SCARY to me as a child. I almost did not play it. I played Ocarina of Time over Majora's mask. And, the game is violent, you know? Talk about having a moon come crashing down and killing everyone? Lol

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

You may think it is a kids game, but once you play it your mind will change.

Yeah, it was really dark, but they don't generally rate it with how the general adult and or teenager audience reacts to the messages carefully evaded by the target audience. Sure, even I can say It's... different, but saying it was too scary for even me at that age would be overreacting. As long as it had non-graphic violence, language, and otherwise sexual themes, I think It's safe to say it was rated 10+ for a reason. c:

You do make a good point, I guess how they rate them won't matter.

Or what about all the other more mature themes, like life, death, romance and grief? The game's story progression closely mirrors the Kübler-Ross Model of Grief, even. Is Link grieving over something, like

losing Navi at the end of Ocarina of Time

or, as Game Theory suggested... is Link himself dead? Did Link die at the beginning of the game? Not to mention all the other characters who die during the game, like Darunia and Mikau, or everyone in Clock Town after three days. And the Giant's Theme and the Oath to Order... fuck, 14 years later I still almost cry each time I hear that damn song. It's just so depressing, yet so... hopeful at the same time. This is supposed to be a kid's game, right?

For the most part no games really have the wrong rating these days. It only really happened back in the PS1 days.

And what's more is the E rating really doesn't necessarily mean "for kids" so making it any higher just because there's a few potentially lewd comments or terms that a kid may or may not even get doesn't necessarily change the rating. You don't have to use explicit words for a curse to be a curse so changing a few words doesn't change their meaning.

That said, it's really unnecessary to change the entire rating of a game because there might be a small curse in it. That's a little too sensitive.

Also I don't think the rating is nearly as important as the content of the game so even if the rating itself is a little off, the content description doesn't usually lie.

I would actually like to say the opposite.

Call of Duty for example should not be a rated M game. It should be T. An M rating should be saved for the most extreme games like Grand Theft Auto.

I dunno. England's rating system is completely different (and more accurate) so I can't name a game that doesn't deserve the rating it gets...

I think most E games are appropriately rated, though there are some games like the N64 Zeldas or a few Megaman games that could be bumped to E+10(or even T) due to having themes I wouldn't see some kids not understanding(and maybe some stuff not suited for well, everyone)

It is without a doubt that darkest game in the series although I think that Zelda Ocarina of Time also deserves a T rating because of the fight with Gannon involves some blood.

When Ocarina of Time was re-released on the 3DS, it was re-rated E10+ for Animated Blood. afaik, the game's blood is still censored to green and the bloodstains on the walls in the Shadow Temple are removed, a la Nintendo 64 Ocarina of Time v1.1.

Godzilla Unleashed............So pissed when they had it as E for Everyone 10 and up.  Should've remained as rated T for Teen.
