BastementSparkle 20,328 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 What if they don't have a cutie mark not because there is nothing they are good at, but because there is nothing they would like to spend their life doing? Maybe they like swimming, writing, drawing, dancing, and hiking? What if despite liking those things there is nothing they would like to do for life? Maybe they just don't want a destiny. Twilight is best pony. Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to?
Envy 6,191 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 In reality, if I were a pony, that would probably be me. Lol... *breaks down crying* But I don't know, because MLP isn't reality. It's a world that lacks many of the unfortunate realities that we face here. So maybe in the MLP world everybody finds something that they both like and are good at. Everything needs more woodwind! CT-1138 3,182 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 It'd probably be the ponified equivalent of Patrick Star from Spongebob. Love is a most potent magic My FiMFiction | My DA | My Facebook
Harmony Cube 80 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 Just as how no human goes through this world without something they enjoy/like/excel at in some way, ponies are the same way. There is no adult that is a blank flank in my eyes (well besides animation errors). An adult blank flank will not be able to fit into society even with a job. A pony's job is reflective upon their talents. There has yet to be a pony who does a job NOT associated with their talent and actually do a satisfactory job (I mean Pinkie proved this herself on both sides)....I agree with you. Unless there's no official cutie mark or an animation error (mainly the latter one) no pony should be a blank flank when they are an adult. King Sejong 859 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 (edited) Has anyone heard or read this comic on Deviant art called "Fine Yourself" by EStories? It is interesting, it follows a pegasus pony named Alice, and she is on a quest to find her cutie mark, although she remains in the background trying not to get attention, because she is a adult blank flank, on her journey she meets a stallion, haves some adventures, with some humour, and she meets Discord, very amusing, so if you go to Deviant art, look up Equestria Stories, you might find something that dove in to the possibility of an adult blank flank. the link: http://fav.me/d6wpjlq Edited April 5, 2014 by Emperor Peter
Shenron00 366 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 It'd probably be the ponified equivalent of Patrick Star from Spongebob. No, that would be a blown out light bulb for Patrick, and a melting brain for SB. Yo! I'm Shenron00, but you can call me “Shen” if you want! Thanks to WheatleyCore for the sig! BTW, yes, I do realize that's Carnage and not Shenron. Khaoios 1,970 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 I think it would be possible. If an adult pony doesn't find somewhat of his/her "destiny" then perhaps they can remain as a blank flank. However, I always thought Cutie Marks are a sign of "adolescents", but that's just my opinion. facemelt91 62 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 A cutie mark reflects a pony's special talent or their purpose in life. I guess if it takes them to adulthood to find that talent or purpose, they won't gain their cutie mark until they do, or at least until they REALISE their talent. I didn't realise I was good at English until I was 20. Now it's how I intend to make a living (once I get my PhD...) But here's a theory - a Pony finds their calling in life and they earn their cutie mark for it. So let's say I want to be a professor of English, and eventually I'll become one. I get my cutie mark that looks like a book (or maybe I've already got it, but either way I got it in adulthood). But what if I get fired? Or what if I suddenly lose my passion for English? Do I lose my cutie mark? Is it even possible to lose a cutie mark? In universe example? Let's say Rarity suddenly decides she doesn't care about diamonds anymore, or Applejack says "screw this, Granny Smith, I've had enough with your shit - I'm going to law school" do they lose their cutie marks?
Singe 2,111 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 Yes, it happens. King Sombra has no cutie mark. Which means ponies who are fully evil with no noble purpose in life can't earn a cutie mark.
Linux Distro 109 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 Eeyup, and their names are gonna be Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Apple Bloom. Face it, they're never getting their cutie marks. 3DS FC: 3625-0707-6615 I play MK7, LM2, ACNL and pretty much all the good games for 3DS.
Espurr 449 April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 Do you think its possible that an adult pony of mr and mrs cake or celestias age could be a blank flank? What if it were possible that someone were to be born that had no potential to do anything special in life? Everypony has a talent or can do something well but just like in real life. That is not true at all! Not everyone can do something. Someponies (like myself) can't actually do ANYTHING really well. No talents, No skills, no ability. Nothing. What if an adult blank flank existed? What would they do to live? How would society built on a marking on your body defining who you are and what you do look at someone who simply does not have anything special or useful to do? They would not need to be homeless or anything. They could still have a job. They would just be a blank and not have anything special about them. Could that even happen? If so what would it be like for them do you think? Oh yep. My OC (she's me as a pony) had a blank flank until I finally thought up one. And while she may not be an adult, she's not a kid. I don't care what pony you like because I like everypony!
Tail Weave 20 April 6, 2014 Share April 6, 2014 My understanding is that a pony gets their cutie mark when they are not only good at something, but they realise that they are good at it, and it's something thy they like to do. I do find it interesting though what it says about free will. Like it's been said before, what if a pony decides "screw you guys. I'm becoming a pro LeCross player. " and it turns out that they're even better at Lecross. (I probably mispelt it, but I don't care)
Shawchert 120 April 6, 2014 Share April 6, 2014 it is possible, but perhaps they could get a cutie mark of something they are very passionate about... be it good or bad :X. Like I'm passionate about writing and photography, but i have no special talent for either. I still consider myself a writer and a photographer because I work at it. Guest90210 3,568 April 6, 2014 Share April 6, 2014 That's actually a really interesting idea...Maybe it's the way the CMC finally get their own Cutie Marks, by actually helping somebody else get theirs? I like the idea.
~Silver Essence~ 2,625 April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 Possibly. Maybe. Though the idea sounds impossible, it does make for an excellent sad story or well paid happy ending. It would be worth something to see.
