season 4 going to be the end?

Spoilers!

I am highly suspicious that Season 4 is the end of FIM.

My reason is three things really. Well four to be accurate.

1. Twilight has already learned pretty much every aspect of friendship. She is already the most powerful magical ability pony in the world for craps sake. other then learning different "kinds" of spells. There is nothing more that she can learn that aging wont cure.

2. She is a princess now. Not much further you can go for that. 99.9% of every fairy tale, Novel, Movie, Cartoon series, including anime has always ended immediately after someone becomes a princess.

There are extream few and incrediblly rare occurences in written or visual media that expands on that.

This is one of them. However it is a sign that things are nearing an end.

3. SPIOLERS AHEAD!!   She is getting her own castle which means her own "kingdom" to Rule over. That means her own castle guard, her own servents, her own paperwork and the ability to decide how taxes and life for the commoners is to be carried out.

4. Final reason is what the premis of the final episode is. Every other "princess" gives Twilight "ALL" of their magical powers.

Which means Celestia and Luna no longer control the sun and moon and Cadence no longer has the power of love. TWILIGHT DOES. She is the worlds number 1 most gifted magical pony and now she is gonna be given the power of gods and cedence who controls the strongest of all emotions next to hatred.

So where do you go from there exactly? When 1. She has nothing left to learn about friendship. 2. Has her own kingdom. 3. Is a princess. 4. Has all the power of every other princess of equestria?

Where could you possibly go from there? Ditch Twilight as a character completely and go to a mane 5 and just do their stories instead?

If Discord could be beaten by luna and celestia and then Twilight is given powers far beyond all of them. Then after the transfer, Not even someone at discords level of "reality shaping" powers could possibly trifle with her which means no viable enemies could exist and no conflict could possibly happen.

unless they plan on making twilight absolutely corrupted by the absolute power she is about to recieve.

What do you guys think?

I'm sure twilight will get corrupted when the series comes to an end later.

While FiM may very well end near the mid of season 5 (twi has already replaced Celestia in one regard, dash is now a wonder bolt, rarity has a business running in manehatten). MlP itself is said to continue, but after season 5 we may see somthing other than FiM.

Hasbro has confirmed that MLP will be lasting for "another 5 years" (http://www.equestriadaily.com/2014/02/hasbro-investor-webcast-information-eqg.html)

Unless Hasbro doesn't like rolling in truckloads of cash, they'll continue the series as it's highly profitable.

They seem to be planing an endgame for FiM, and the current mane 6 cast. They will be giving twilight a kingdom, they have made dash a wonderbolt (even though she is currently a reservist), and rarity is selling a line of clothing in manehatten. While they did say that MLP as a franchise will continue, FiM, or atleast the current cast, seems to be set up for a end game.

You saved me the trouble into writing that,

OT: Indeed, Hasbro has confirmed MLP will infact be lasting another 5 years.......................yet, i have a hunch they're gonna extend it, but that's just me.

Given a lot of the mane 6 have been moving up this season, I'm actually wondering if Season 5 or 6 could give us a new mane cast, with the original mane 6 taking on supporting roles. I doubt it'll happen but I suppose it's plausible.

Well there's an intriguing, but often overlooked tweet by Meghan McCarthy saying something about typing "The End" on a script is both extremely rewarding and terrifying. The way she says it makes me feel like Season 5 (maybe 6) may be set up as the last for the current Mane 6. That or McCarthy's being dramatic for no good reason.

"Oh look, there's our friend Rarity GOING DOWN IN FLAMES!!! ISN"T FRIENDSHIP MAGIC!!!?" -Tabitha St. Germain as Rarity

"No matter how many times others tell you you're great, all the praise in the world means nothing if you don't feel it inside.......Sometimes to feel good about yourself, you gotta let go of the past. That way, when the time comes to let your greatness fly, you'll be able to light up the whole sky." -Cathy Weseluck as Spike

I'm pretty sure I read or saw something that said that the princesses TEMPORARILY give Twilight their power to save Equestria or whatever it is that needs saving.  I don't think this is a permanent thing at all and they will all be back to normal at the end of the season finale.

I can't imagine that the Mane 6 would go anywhere but to keep the show diverse and growing I could see them adding new ponies or expanding on the characters of existing ponies.

Ending now?  Someone would have leaked it.  I doubt it is ending anytime soon.

Didn't they just say that they had planned out the franchise for the next five years? That's a very interpretable statement isn't it?

My Little Pony is like 35 years old now actually.

If what we get is five more years of EqG, *I am so done*.

SO DONE.

So yeah. Unless they say five more seasons of MLP .. and really, who could possibly say that with certainty? To plan five years ahead for a show?

  • 2 weeks later...

Even setting aside the fact that Hasbro confirmed that there will be a fifth season and probably a lot more...

  1. Same was said after season 3, yet Twilight still needs to learn the occasional lesson.
  2. FiM has made every effort to subvert overused tropes.  Saying that 99.9% of fairy tails end after the MC becomes a princess really doesn't say anything about the direction of this show.
  3. Bronies have been calling out forever for a Celestia episode exploring the responsibilities and duties of the princesses.  Why not explore it with Twilight, a much more popular character.
  4. In DBZ, Super Sayians were supposed to be ultimate peak.  That was quickly changed.  Vegeta even lampshaded how ridiculous it got.  As Twilight's powers grow, the obstacles she must overcome will as well.  Sorting algorithm of evil and all.

I'm rather curious where season 5 will go, actually.

Even though Hasbro has pretty much confirmed that they will keep the show going as long we watch it?

Yeah, this is generally a recurring question in TV show forums. ;) Even if they said that.
