The Brony Norms

Recommended Posts

This thread is what you guys have seen for the brony 'norms'. Or, what's average about them. Please, don't turn this into a thread where you're just dissing one another. This is also for what people (other people) believe are what are norms are. Examples would do perfectly as would stories. Have fun in here, I know I will!

Whoa, norms within a subculture that's inherently adverse to norms?

Normception.

The Brony norms are simply to challenge the norms!

It isn't considered "normal" for grown men to even bat an eyelash at pastel colored ponies, let alone go so far as to have "best pony" opinions and buy merchanduse intended for little girls…

So yeah, being a Brony is pretty much "anti-normal".

You guys are lucky! The norms for me (what they think I do) is fap to ponies and spam forums :/

[](/sbdisgusting)

Just kidding! The norms for me are to have some interaction with the rest of the fandom,  to watch the show, to create or look at fan-made content, and to use titles or not to call yourself a "brony" or a "pegasister".

For me, I have interaction, I watch the show, I create & look at fan-made content, and I title myself a brony. ^^

The only relevant norm, is a willingness to be associated with the show (even privately).

You can be a brony, even if you don't do much/any of these:

Creates/looks at fanart
1. Watches the show
2. Either creates fan content, or enjoys fan content
3. Has some interaction with the Brony community
call oneself a brony/pegasister.
simply to challenge the norms!
use titles or not to call yourself a "brony" or a "pegasister".
Writing fanfiction, reading fanfiction, drawing fanart, over analyzing the show, and wearing fedoras.

(Ok, maybe the over analyzing one counts...)

Most bronies I know are what you would expect from fans of any show, to be honest. Enjoyment of the show simply for what it is, without picking apart every last detail; collecting a little bit of merchandise here and there as stuff comes out relevant to their tastes. Maybe seeking out fan art and music, but to varying degrees depending on the person.

Writing fanfiction, reading fanfiction, drawing fanart, over analyzing the show, and wearing fedoras.

Hats don't look good on me, but I do own a fedora because it adds a nice touch to the living room decor when hanging from my coat rack.
