Who else doesn't like equestria girls but watched out of curiosity anyways?

With the second Equestria Girls movie coming up I just wondered who else has this view on the spinoff?

I don't care for the idea of it in general, but I find it interesting to see what the writers/animators do, since it is the same people working on it. I also found it funny that the VAs didn't even know they were working on a movie until later.

To be clear, I dislike, but DON'T hate the first one, as I've seen worse shows, but I've seen a lot better. I just see it for what it is- another product line for Hasbro to sell. MLP is their IP to do with as they please, so whatever.

Things I dislike about E.G.

  •  Humanized yet still weird colors- plus they look kinda awkward. I definitely like the ponies better.
  • They are younger than in MLP (the fact that they are older than high school in MLP is a big reason why I like the normal show)
  • The shoe/boot things they wear- for whatever reason I just HATE those. (I hate any kind of long socks/stocking things in general)
  • The high school scene (I like the normal show because it doesn't have to do with any of that)
  • The fact that it's just another Hasbro Bright Idea™ money-grab. :muffins: "Lets make them peoplez now to get moar moniez!!!" :umad:

You may have noticed that this particular aspect particularly bugs me.  Kind of like a pesky mosquito (Hasbro's meddling) you just cant get rid of.

Anyways, back to you guys. If you dislike it- do you watch out of curiosity anyways? I'll probably watch the second one online later on.

As I have stated previously (and don't feel like copy pasting my reponse) I did not like it as it felt like the antithesis to everything Faust set out to do with FiM. I won't go into further detail, as I have already done it countless times, but suffice to say I did not enjoy the first movie outside the fan pandering.

And I'll always watch the media to form an opinion on it, but that doesn't mean I'm gunna pay for it ;)

Yeah I did, the trailers made it look like it would be something that would spit all over Faust's work and the movie did exactly that, I wouldn't be surprised if say years from now when FIM is over and McCarthy has left hasbro, and one day at a con somewhere she'll admit she's ashamed of that thing.

I liked it. For one time I could actually care about this characters because Twilight was working to get high in a situation where she was weak and alone, but no matter where you are or who you are, you'll always have the magic of friendship with you.

That's what I got from the movie.

I also loved Sunset Shimmer way more than any major villain of the show, almost as much as Tirek. They were all silly and got defeated the most dumb ways possible. Sunset was a bitch from beginning to end and even before we knew her, but when I saw her crying at Twi's feet, I saw that she didn't know what she was doing, and I felt sorry for her.

The songs were all enjoyable. Nothing great, but I can surely say I remember those more than most of the show.

I thought the characters as humans worked better, because most of the time the ponies act TOO MUCH like humans, and it makes me think of G1.5, where everyone was antropomorphic. In here it makes sense, and since they are humans, you can relate better and care more about them.

The technicolor humans was a very fun gag. It made me think of good ol' cartoons like Doug or... Well, only Doug has technicolor humans in my knowledge, so there's that.

I expect better from the second one, but I really liked Equestria Girls. In that one MLP internet test about which were your favourite episodes Equestria Girls actually came #1 for me.

Not that much to say but, I liked it. It impressed me a bit.

Based on my impressions, I would say that you'll probably feel the same way or similarly about this film as you do about the first, and whether you liked it, didn't like it or are kind of meh about it, I doubt the second movie will change your mind drastically, if at all. I certainly felt the same way as I did about the first. I'm close to the fence with the first film, but at least a little on the side of enjoying it, and I can say the same about Rainbow Rocks.

Me!  I hated the first Equestria Girls Movie, and I dreaded the thought of another one. But when it finally came out I was like, "What the heck."

I did feel a little bad for paying to help fund these movies, but I wanted to say that I was there on a day of infamy, lol

I was seriously disapointed by the movie. It was worse than the first one. It felt as if something was missing...

  • 2 weeks later...

I HATE the first one, so when I saw RR, I started to get interested. I myself use to play a flute so...I tried the moive. That and my friends were going to see it. I LOVED it. Some of the songs were okay others were great. The story was...hmm...okay. They could've done better, but Sunset was amazing in this one. Learning from mistakes
