The Legacy of Friendship is Magic.

In this day and age, it’s becoming rarer and rarer for a form of media, especially television, to have a definitive and conclusive finale. Many will either be left to sprawl endlessly until it becomes little more than a shadow of its former self or unceremoniously canceled in the middle of the story and forced to rush the endings.  So, it is with an odd mix of sadness and relief that it’s been finally confirmed that Season 9 of Friendship Is Magic will be the final season. While I will cert

FIM's most impressive feat: consistency of good quality

With season 9 being its last, I could give my thoughts on it ending, but I did so already. Instead, I want to reflect on what the show has done. Over the years, FIM has had moments where many, myself including, declare whether the show jumped the shark or not. For those who don't know, "jumping the shark" is the moment that indicates its peak has passed and won't return to form again. Examples are located here and here. Of course, when something jumps the shark is subjective. What might be

Hazbin Hotel OC?

Well I've been in the processes of trying to make this forum-appropriate (Still a couple things that may be, well, iffy) and refining some of the details in my head for a while, but here's a general idea. Really, I forgot to post it a couple of weeks ago, so it never came out. Also, there's still no art because I'm no artist.   Name: Mr. McLove (Meyer McLeery) Nicknames: "Rat in the Hat", "Rat Fink", "Sweets"         Type: Rat Demon Date of Death: July 26, 1889           Cause of

My thoughts on the show ending

*Sigh* It just never ends for me, does it? As you all probably know, Hasbro announced that MLP: FiM is ending after it's 9th season. I'm honestly very bummed out by this, as I'm sure a lot of you are. At first, I actually wasn't too sad about it, but then, everyone started making tearjerking posts about the show ending and started making me feel worse.  Anyway, I wouldn't be so sad about the show ending if it wasn't for 2 things. 1. It's ending too early IMO and 2. I didn't experience the show t

The Surprising Inspiration for the Prism Experiment

Today we are gazing through the looking-glass into the life of history's most renowned physicists, the father of gravity and the modern Newtonian physics, Sir Isaac Newton!  If you are not already familiar, Newton not only discovered the gravity existed as an tangeable force, rather than simply a law of existence, but also discovered the core parts of white light and how to split white into its key components. But just think about that for a second. Even if you're super well-versed in y

Episode 27 - Servers Not Writing Orders Down

Hey.  Y'know what really grinds my gears?  When waiters/waitresses/servers don't write your order down.  You ever get one of these jokers?  What, are we supposed to impressed?  Are you so proud of your memory that you want to show it off?  You think we'll be so impressed by your astounding memory that you'll get a bigger tip?  Is that it?  Well guess what?  Every single time I've had a server do this, they either get stuff wrong and I have to send the food back, and/or they come back to the tabl

A Delightful Shake of Events

Hey! An unexpected surprise has occured! I am not sure if it is just local right now, as I haven't seen any ads, but McDonald is selling Shamrock Shakes! In case you aren't familiar with a Shamrock Shake, it's a minty vanilla shake meant to be festive for Saint Patrick's Day... Which is in March, which makes this pretty odd. Anyways, onto the early review. I expected to post this about a month after the Donut Sticks, but they get to be first. The Shamrock Shake is sold at McDonald's an

Episode 26 - Metro Exodus & The Epic Store

Today's entry will be a little different.  With Grind My Gears, I usually stick to more global things about society that bother me, or silly everyday type stuff that can bother anyone.  I usually do more timeless stuff, not current news cycle stuff that has more of a narrow window of relevancy.  But this is just too important.  This needs to be said now. You know what really, really, REALLY grinds my gears?!  Today I popped onto Steam, and I saw a news headline that Steam is having a midwee

Another MLP Movie idea that popped up during work

So today at work, I had another brainstorm of an idea involving an Alternative MLP Universe.  The style is similar to Friendship is Magic, as well as the voice cast.  But many of the origin stories are a bit different, not to mention some of the layouts.  Here's how it goes. In this alternative world, Princess Twilight Sparkle once had a student of her own named Majesty, a young filly unicorn who once had an optimistic future.  But one day, something went wrong and Majesty cut ties with her

Turtle, tortoise, terrapin - no one right way

Lately I was reminded of this old episode that conveys in a gentle, subtle, humorous way how this debate about whether it's a turtle or a tortoise is somewhat futile since different countries do it differently, and the various other, supposedly more scientific terms are based on the same meanings, too, so any name you could be using for refering to the whole range of those animals that share the same traits are also based on the common terms for supposedly specific types. Sounds confusing? Exact

Episode 25 - Sex-Specific Colors

Hey. Y'know what really grinds my gears?  Sex-specific colors.  Y'know, this blue for boys and pink for girls sh*t.  Why is this so ingrained in our culture?  They're just freakin' colors.  Reflected wavelengths of light.  They don't have anything to do with one sex or the other.  Anyone can like any color they want. One of the best examples of this is when I go self-serve frozen yogurt shops.  Every one I've ever been to has green and pink spoons.  Or sometimes it's blue and purple.
