Spider-Man No Way Home Thoughts

Ever since childhood, Spider-Man has been my hero. I grew up with things like the 90's animated series, The Spectacular Spider-Man, the very short lived but underrated 2003 New Animated Series, and of course the original Sam Raimi helmed trilogy, which it remains my personal favorite trilogy (Yes that includes Spider-Man 3 which I consider very underrated). I also appreciate Marc Webb's first Amazing Spider-Man film despite it's issues (Mainly stuff that shouldn't have been cut). The sequel was

Everfree Northwest 2021 Day 0

My journey this year began as a 14 hour drive. It should have been only 12, but I've never been the best navigator. Only an hour or 2 into my drive towards Seaddle, Google Maps sent me onto a small road with a handmade sign reading, "Google is wrong. Turn back." I decide to turn back and find another route. The main concern at this point is that I'm on a major highway heading south, but I need to get over to another highway a few dozen kilometers west. I look at Google Maps and see a small but y

Episode 84 - Video Chats on Shows

This one's gonna require of a bit of explaining. Y'know what really grinds my gears?  Video chats on tv shows.  What annoys me is when they have the person on the video screen look towards the person in the scene in way that makes no sense.  Okay, so, picture this: we're looking at a person in the scene, and that person has a smart device of some type, and they're video chatting with someone.  Then the person in the scene turns the device so that the person they're talking to can see other

What Makes the Difference

Continuing the subject of multiple universes, I think we can divide them into two kinds: those that have 'observers' in them (probably the minority), and those that don't. The 'observerless' universes exist (at least I believe they do) only to satisfy the principle I wrote about two weeks ago, that any logically consistent system exists, because there is no reason why it shouldn't exist. But does its existence really matter? I think it doesn't, because if there is an universe and there is no one

Gender stereotyping as a marketing thing

At the supermarket today there were themed chocolate eggs, one Transformers and one MLP. Now, the association of those two franchises to boys and girls is vast, traditional and thus kind of common knowledge. But for some odd reason the supermarket added classifications on the price tags, labeling the Transformers ones as for "boys" and the MLP ones as for "girls". UPDATE: And sometimes there were bigger eggs next to those, also showing ponies IIRC, and those were labeled "trollies" for some

The Anthropic Principle

This time we're going to figure out if there's anything special about our universe, but let's start with another question: Do we live in a typical place in it? By 'typical' I mean the kind of place that we will most likely end up with if we pick one at random. The answer is of course not, because a typical place in our universe is just empty space. And we happen to live on a planet where there are good conditions to support life. And the reason why it is so is obvious: as far as we know, in the

The Big Question

Welcome to my blog. I'm going to cover a wide range of philosophical and scientific topics here, but don't expect walls of text, my goal is to make the entries brief and straight to the point. I welcome discussions and feedback in the comments, as well as suggestions what I should write about in the future. We'll start with the most important question in philosophy: Why does anything exist at all? My answer to this question is simple: Because why not? In other words, there shouldn't be any

Binary Math ("The Wrapping Point")

In game development, maybe the most common way to time "events" is to use a delta time. The absolute time that is considered "now" minus the previous absolute time, gives you a delta time: You can then multiply this delta time with the events and physics of the game. This is very common but have a lot of problems that creep in later. One of those problems might appear out of nowhere, and is the wrapping point.   Consider you have an absolute time of 56670001 milliseconds, and yo

Episode 83 - Entenmann's Boxes

Hey.  Y'know what really grinds my gears?  Entenmann's boxes. I love Entenmanns's donuts, but the boxes are f*cking bullsh*t.  They're so hard to open.  I make a mess of them every time.  It's nearly impossible to open the box without destroying it.  I decided to just stop trying to salvage the box and just put the donuts in a ziplock bag.  It's just a box!  Why is it so difficult?!  And they're f*ckin' dangerous, too!  I got a surprisingly deep, nasty cut from the edge of one of those boxe

Rant - What Burns My Bacon

Here is something annoying. Hidden buttons on devices. What is the obsession with hiding buttons? Here are some examples: I rarely use Mac computers. One time I was using a Mac and it had a mouse with no visible buttons. I knew it had at least one button. Then my friend told me it had a left and right click. How was I supposed to know? It was one solid piece of plastic. There was no indication that there was a left and right button. I had a Sansa mp3 player. It had a rotating wheel to

Noctuna, Evenide, and Diurna (OCs)

The backstory of these characters take place in alternate universe, you can get the basic idea of that universe here: https://mlpforums.com/blogs/entry/25250-solar-silver-oc/     Over thousand years ago, a group of skilled unicorns were called to the castle of the two sisters, there they would face a change to their lives that none of them had even imagined. They were told that a great danger was threatening Equestria, and that they would be the ones to save it, it was not to

Pop Tarts Mister E

These are gross! I don't recommend them!  Well if you're like me you won't listen but don't say I didn't warn you. I don't know what the flavor is. They're something savory mixed with the usual sweetness of pop-tarts. There's definitely cream cheese and some kind of spices. Though it's not hot at all maybe I'm tasting some jalapeno? The best guess I've seen online based on one of the clues they give is everything bagel with cream cheese. I like everything bagels but this was disgusting
