  1. was hoping id run into a fellow brony in my travels, do some sort of secret brony action we'd both know, and everyone else wouldn't, but think we were weird anyway XD
  2. While out braving the world that exists outside (running errands with my roomate), we stopped by the mall and checked out Hot Topic. Used to shop there all the time as a kid, so its been a while. Fingers crossed in hopes id find anything MLP related and finding more meme related stuff then anything else, lol thanks internet. Just as i was about to give up and walk out of the store, i found it. They had a section in the corner near the door where you wouldn't notice it unless you were right on top of it... then again im also very blind so yea *shrugs* I didn't have much to spend since im still saving up for a car, so i just sorta sat there admiring what all they had. Really wanted the Derpy shirt they had, but they didn't have a size that would fit me. My roomate found some button/pin things near the register so i got two of those instead! One of Luna and one of Derpy. Pinned them on my hoodie right at the neck where the hood strings come out. Walked around with them on everywhere we went, freak'n happy times and its only the beginning
  3. Finished it! --> (for larger resolution) <-- Since Luna and Derpy are my favorite characters from the show, id like to think that Derpy hangs out with Luna now and that would be why we dont see her in the show. You know, to avoid any more 'angry letters'. But yea, if i were to get a MLP tattoo, it would look something like this. Actually, i also just checked it on a black background. This would look GREAT on a shirt o_o Thanks for the inspiration on this! You know, for getting your tattoo. Derpy's vector image came from RainbowPlasma http://rainbowplasma.deviantart.com/art/Happiest-Pony-EVER-293385824 Made Luna from a screenshot and changed her eye. Had a lot of fun with this
  4. Thats is just awesome. Derpy was a huge influence on why i enjoyed mlp so much. She was the one i related to the most... and when i found out she got censored, it was really hard to take.. my boss went crazy trying to figure out why i was so sad for like a week or two. Never told him though. This gives me a great idea for a tattoo that id be willing to get. I just need to figure out exactly where id put her so i wouldn't get in trouble for it at work. I wouldn't care if anyone saw it, its more of rule of having to cover her up. So on my face is out of the question xD Im thinking of something like this on maybe the shoulder blade: Credits to Doctor-G for the image Although i have another type in mind, but id have to draw it first. If it turns out good, i'll definitely get it done. i'll come back to post it when its done =D
  5. I vote for Tank for next Alicorn princess and while were at it, might as well have Iron Will as a Alicorn Princess too... but seriously, Tanks awesome. They need to give the little guy his own episode where he saves the world in his own way.
  6. On behalf of myself and everypony in Equestira We'd like to present to you this fine gift for being ... well ... AWESOME! (click for larger image) It's a Shield! We also have it in SOLID GOLD! The first was a screenshot of the show that i cleaned up a bit. The second one with all the different characters was fun peicing together and is all in good fun. The third is obvious. I've got a pretty cool idea for a sword too. <-- doesn't have Skyrim or a comp that could handle playing it ;~;
  7. @Sky Warden lol, yes they shut down 'Fighting is Magic', happened a while back. Was incredibly terrible... Lead to me joining this forum and starting Fan Freedom and such. I can see where some products can be 'Open Sourced' but also understand that the way Copyright laws are now (which i don't like and really should be altered some) if the original copyright owners don't fight for their product, they lose the rights over them if another party gets involved and openly takes claim of said product in one way or another. The issue with 'Fighting is Magic', even though it made sure to say it was free and for the fans, it would have grown into a threat. Especially against any profit potential if Hasbro decided to launch a fighting game of their own, where that profit would be used to pay those they hired for the project and any possible projects that could come later. Im still going to consult a Lawyer and see what i can find out from a professionals view point.
  8. @Sky Warden as nice as 'Open Source' sounds, there wouldn't be very many options to making a living off talents. The Entertainment industry would fall through. Gaming, movies, music etc.. not many would pursue those dreams. And im sure the same goes for most areas where 'Open Source' would be effective. I don't know about most of you.. but i hope that one day i'll find my talent and get out of working entry level jobs like Retail. Living such a hard life.. i don't want to look forward to always being stuck here.
  9. Hey all, been a while since i've made a post here. Donno if some of you will like this or not, but there have been some changes. Im my 'adventures' of looking up and researching court cases to try and find some good material to use in our argument... I've come across even more that goes against. Its really sort of disheartening in our efforts, but there's more to it then that. What brought about this: I was on Everfree.net and i watched the interview with John De Lancie about the Brony Documentary he helped make. That one that got pirated... you could easily see how upset he was about it, his hopes that it would grow into something much more. Very much like our own hopes over fan-made projects being shut down. After watching that, i still wasn't moved to change my mind of course so i went about researching court cases and viewing some relative questions being directed at people who work in these sort of industries to try and better understand their side. Basically... it all boils down to blaming people stealing/pirating or just trying to benefit off of someone elses hard work, that we can thank for how the copyright laws are today. Yes, they are over aggressive.. but its to try and protect the lives of those who've worked/gone to school/fought to work in those industries. Results: I've come to see the reasons as to why Hasbro has done as it has. If it couldn't protect itself, the people who've worked so hard to bring us this fandom in the first place, would be without there jobs. And i think that would actually kill this fandom faster. Its not their fault 'Fighting is Magic' and all the other fan-projects got shut down, and im sure they didn't want them to be. Think about what would happen if we ended up taking all the rights of MLP: FiM and tried making new episodes. How fast would we end up turning on each other? We wouldn't have the same voice actors, so they would probably fall out of the fandom. Fans would point out inaccuracies like crazy and would probably just not watch any of those episodes. This fandom is what it is because of the people the copyrights are trying to protect.. and as much as it saddens me to see something great like 'Fighting is Magic' fall... Id have to (with a heavy heart) choose to not see someone like Lauren Faust or John De Lancie be out of work. And as far as new episodes go, we need to believe in the story writers. That's all there is to it. So now what? Even though i feel like we still need some change to help fandoms create without infringing, the more i think about it.. the more i see a rippling effect that could ultimately cause more harm then good. Its to much to explain.. so if your curious, go on your own adventures and find out what i've seen for yourselves. Creating and Signing Petitions to try and get Hasbro to change their minds is really the best thing we can do for any matter. We'd need to get them to accept our values so long as it doesn't harm theirs. As for Fan Freedom.. im going to change it a bit. Instead of a mission on a war path, id like it to be more of a congregation place where fans can go to discuss their thoughts and feelings, debate topics, create and sign petitions and get signatures, share experiences and information for any matter concerning the show/fandom. Id like to make it into something of a sub-community here in MLP Forums. Or maybe even find a spot on the E.F.N. in the future. P.S. If you think about it, all the other great fandoms out there today also had to deal with copyright laws and the crap were dealing with. The best thing we can do to protect and grow our fandom is to support the show and create tons of our own OC.
  10. I have a gym membership, but because of the extra hours at work and the extra heavy lifting i do there.. its getting hard to get in a good exercise without already being exhausted or sore. Im getting used to most of the lifting, so the gym is looking like an option once again. And I can't wait till the weather gets better so i can go riding my bike too. To much snow and ice on the ground at the moment. I don't really have much of a inspirational story.. used to be really out of shape. Didn't have much money for food so i was pretty much skin and bones. Moving anymore then just around the house was a solid 'no'. When i finally got called in for a interview at the place i work now, not having a car meant walking to and from work... so that's what i did. Wasn't long before my co-workers noticed i was too weak to do much of anything, and it was really hard to deny it. I kept with it though, telling everyone i was just out of shape, that i would get better at it. About a month into the job, i got a bike. I used to ride bikes as a kid all the time, but not once since then. I had no idea just how thrilling it was, especially when you go down a really steep road... That feeling of the wind rushing past you. That feeling that told me this was only the beginning, that i was capable of much more. Soon after i got my gym membership, and visited 5 days a week. I wasn't very strong, but i was having fun and getting better and faster at work... until i got a promotion. (yes i know, that's supposed to be a good thing and i was very happy about it) The weight load and hours increased, then the weather got cold... id walk into the gym, and almost fall asleep trying to do crunches. So i put a hold on going to the gym, and focused on work. I have a roof over my head now and food in my fridge. May not be the ritz, but its more then i had before... growing up always being told id never get anywhere and that i should just give up or kill myself, Especially by people who you'd think wouldn't do say those things to you, made it really hard to want to try. Now i know i've proved them wrong in a small, yet rather big way. Can't wait for spring, and my taxes to come back. Getting myself a car and i'll be going to the gym again.
  11. @Kamil: Oh yea, would be hard to try and convince others otherwise. Id rather it not be a shot at Hasbro though, so i hope PickMeup should consider that and make his project with lighter intentions rather then anything held with a grudge. Even a dream sparked by a grudge, if given the chance and some kindness, can become something more then it set out to be. Discord and Fluttershy could probably explain it better. Remember, im in support of the whole fandom, canon or otherwise. I want to see it take its place where it can be accepted by everyone other then bronies or pegasisters. p.s. How do you do that with the usernames where it acts as a link?
  12. Something that has always worried me about this fandom was just how fast it built up. We literally exploded into a blaze to strong to ignore. Everyone knows we exist now. And as a blaze that burns with such fury... can quickly burn itself out. Like a shuttle aiming for space, we've sparked our engines, we've made our noise, we took off with speed and we've broken the sound barrier with exploding colors. We're there everypony @3:05 in. The Boosters have detached, we are this close to having 'NO' resistance and a place with the other fandoms that fought so hard for acceptance. FLUTTER ON! WE CAN DO THIS! (edit: Just found this in youtube suggestions after watching that space launch xD) Going to have to say this is a sign!
  13. Hope you don't mind, but id like to use you as an example. Alright everyone, show of hands who felt a little perplexed or disjointed about this at first? Too soon after Mane6's 'Fighting is Magic' getting shut down maybe? I've noticed a few of these popping up now, and the same two feelings rise every time i see one. + "hell, why not, go for it!" - "but.. Mane6 was doing it first.." both conflicting, and probably something we all feel in some way or another whenever we see something similar. For the most part people kinda tend to fall on the negative when similar or duplicate material comes up. "If its been done before, stop trying to copy someones hard work!" Stands for reason on its own, right? Makes sense in the defense that we all feel we should have when we've made something that is in some way original. Here is what i feel is probably the best argument we have for the positive. As fans, we in many ways celebrate over and over again the stuff we love. We accept cos-playing, We accept fan-fics, we accept just about everything that comes from the fandoms we belong to. Even if we have our disagreements, they still come 'to be' because its what we do. We are constantly trying to generate new material from the old to keep the memories and the feelings flowing. To keep the Fandom alive. We are alive... Will MLP die? Or will it take hold and last forever like the other great fandoms? That's up to us to decide, as the fans. NOT a choice for anyone else to decide. @PickMeup: If your heart is in it, and you really want to do this. Then you'll have your work cut out for you. Go get em.
  14. I don't know how i should feel right now.. Upset that there was an argument here... or happy that this topic got two pages worth of comments because of it. But more importantly, why isn't there a Derpy Smiley on this forum? Done and done! <-- because this is how i feel right now. And the code for it could be '~' *ahem* @UrdiePie & Fridge: I have all sorts i can say on the argument for the both of you, but id like to keep this topic more on course. It'll be cool though where ever i eventually move all this (when i find a stand alone domain) if i could get a forum up so we all can debate and exchange ideas and feels as much as you'd like. All im going to say for right now is: Acceptance, if someone does or doesn't want to buy the merchandise and/or the episodes to watch, that's up to them. We do still need to support Hasbro to help the chance they keep the show going. Moving right along then!~ Here's Apple Jack's themed Sig: Do you all think it fits? i feel its off somehow... i should probably try for a different approach entirely. Oh well, even though im having a lot of fun with the artsie stuff. I need to put it on hold and work more on the Declaration for the mission. I'll still make sigs for Rarity, Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Twilight. I set up a PayPal account and im going to look into buying a domain soon, im fairly capable with HTML... but i don't know anything about javascripting. So i guess i'll need to find help there too. I'll also be setting up a Twitter and Facebook account to help with keeping in touch with everyone more easily.
  15. Yes we are 'just people' and were capable of quite a lot more then were given credit for. Its really hard to imagine just how much a difference just one person can make, or how much a small group of people can make. Whenever you think of anything amazing or grand, you imagine a full scale effort of many many people working together and lots of money. But what most people don't think of is that none of that would have ever happened if someone didn't dream about it first. If you want to think about it mathematically: If 1 = 0, then 1 + 1 would never equal 2. 2 would never become 3. 1,000,000,000,000 would have as much value as 0. Without 1 we would only have 0. Understanding that, do you see how valuable everyone can really be? Anywho, im off to work. *in Jonathan Goldsmith voice* Flutter on my friends.
  16. OK so... made a Sig. Making it was the easy part... but just trying to figure out how to get this posted here without something erroring out on my end was ridiculous. Decided to go with Rainbow Dash Theme for this first one, i like it and its something for now. Im planning to simplify and ultimately make one that doesn't just relate to MLP. ONTO REPLYING~ (finally) I'll just go down the list. Deco, you come up twice. /) @Chaotic Lightning: Boycotting buying MLP merchandise (even though a large majority of all of it is incredibly inaccurate and terrible) will probably only bring the show to a halt sooner. I don't know for sure, but it would make sense that Hasbro will end production of the show soon. Without Lauren and the sudden advancement in the story of the show, and their already lack of interest in the quality of their products ... they probably already plan to stop the series as soon as they can and move onto something else. Don't take it as truth, but it may be on their list of options. Id rather they find reason to keep with the show. But this is all just assuming and that goes nowhere. @Kamil: Good post! Alright, this gives me an idea and some more steps to take (updating my to-do-list). I do want to get the attention of many other fandoms before sending in the petition. The more everyone knows about this mission, the easier it should be to get signatures. I've taken note of your proposal and it'll take root as the foundation we can build on to cover the rest of our intentions! Thank you so much! As far as Hasbro (or any copyrights holder over a fandom) and anything a fandom creates... id rather the fan-made products be labeled as such and left safeguarded against the rights holder demanding it be shut down and withdrawn. If the 'Parent' wants to make a similar product to profit off of, then they can, and should strive to make something better then what the fandom has created (rather then just making some sloppy half-arsed product for the intention of a few bucks). Having more funds and better accessibility to more experienced workers in relative fields, this shouldn't be a difficult task. And on top of that, seeing what fandoms ACTUALLY ENJOY 'should' boost the QUALITY in all of their products and the number of sales. But i guess that's up to them to actually pay attention though *shrugs* @decoherence: Tooth, claw, talon, paw, serpent tail and antlers. They'll throw the whole discord at me without realizing my intentions might actually benefit them as well. (lol) 1. There are all sorts of ways this could be done.. just trying to type one out without thinking up another is plaguing me right now lol. But for the most part im imagining that a 'Parent' would have to get a new team that works alongside the Legal Team to better advise and insure both parties are in the green. For the Legal team to handle both an entire fandom AND other issues from other sources might be too much, having a new team that works with the fandom (kind of like a Butler, Maid, Nanny, sitter, etc etc) that's there more for the fandom. Getting involved, finding out whats all going on, directly advising on popular issues before something bad comes of it, that sort of stuff. And at the same time, providing valuable information to the 'Parent' so the 'Parent' can do a better job at acknowledging where most of their marketing sales come from. "Sebastian!" "Yes, Sir?" "What does Timothy like?" "Apples, Sir." "Apples huh? I'll pick some up on the way home. Has he finished his studies?" "Nose deep in his books as we speak." "Has he apologized to that girl about the bug incident?" "Yes sir, shes still quite upset about it." "I see... well, all will be good in time. Good Job. You may carry on then." "As always, Sir. Thank you." (that sort of thing =3) 2. Im sure there are some points that lead to the birth of a fandom that can be followed closely and vaguely. The MLP fandom kind of came out of nowhere, but there were signs. Conventions being the biggest tell-tale sign that a Fandom exists. It'll be important to understand these points a little more to better detail this part of the proposal. As for who... hmm. Not so sure a 'who' can define that. More like a 'what'. 'What' probably being a combination of major birth points of a fandom being noticed by more then just the fans. But then i guess the fandom 'at that point' would have to stand up and claim themselves to be a fandom... well i guess we just answered that then xD When the key birth points are figured out, we'll add to the proposal that the 'fandom' by this point will need to make a legal claim to their existence to receive defensive rights. I imagine they'd have to send in some kind of paperwork to the legal department of whichever 'Parent' governs their fandom, then a investigation on this matter would have to take place to make sure enough of the 'key points' are valid. 3. i worded that poorly lol (warning this wont be much better). Basically, as a fan under the 'Parenting Act' you can create anything related to your fandom without it be illegal, but if the product contains any canon material, it cannot draw profit and proper declaration of the copyrighted ownership of said material must be included with the work in every way its distributed. Otherwise it will be considered an infringement, and is subject to be treated as such. For example, if you draw Super Mario eating a sammich at a Star Bucks.. you'd have to make sure you give Nintendo and Starbucks their credit somehow. 4. If the 'Parenting Act' works out for the better, then the value should go up. It all depends on how well its executed, and how well both parties work to benefit each other. Im assuming this would lead to a means of how a Fandom would have its 'defense' rebuked. For example: We would have to maintain a progressive relationship with Hasbro to help them maintain new 'canon' material for MLP. In other words: In return for being able to use their material, we would have to actively support their market and keep them afloat. If Hasbro show's more loss, then that could risk a rebuke. It would all depend on what exactly happens though that causes the loss, however. Say if Hasbro is having hard times for other reasons, they could sell their rights to a new 'Parent or Guardian' and that new holder would take over. But anyway, as far as distribution of fan made material for profit goes, this could still be worked out to remain the way it is now. There would just be new paperwork to sign and a few new methods to consider. I don't see this being to much of a problem. (i could be wrong xD) Figuring out a proper solution to just how it would all work out would probably be a conclusion that the 'Parent' and the third party licensees would have to come to afterwards. 'If' this mission is successful. All these questions are GREAT! Best way to cover all the details is by finding a problem, even the small problems, and debating them and coming up with a solution. The possibilities that can come from this mission are endless really, there's no telling just how the future will be if this works out. @Cuhpcakes: (Get Ready) If money made the world go round, why are we all in so much debt? Money doesn't make the world go round.. our appetites do. If we didn't want or need anything, we wouldn't strive for anything and nothing would change. Money would have no value and be meaningless. Just like guns being perfectly harmless till someone picks one up and pulls the trigger. (or pistol whips with it) Its all about the source, if you don't address the source correctly then you'll always have to deal with the problems that come from it. The troublesome part is identifying the source. Tricky stuff, just go ask any programmer. @Shoboni: If Hasbro had its own 'Refrigerator Art' sort of thing, that would be so awesome. Like, at the end of shows where the credits are rolling, they could show off some fan art that won a weekly contest. @decoherence: Actually, if we distributed fanart through Hasbro, they could most certainly make some profit off it too. This would definitely be a plus side in supporting them! And they wouldn't even have to make the product!! Yes my goal is to solve things where the source is, but there is NOTHING wrong with looking to the future. Any good decision is made with the past, present, AND future in mind. Final Thoughts on this post OMG LOOK AT THE TIME! QQ I'll have to update the OP some more later... p.s. Making Applejacks Sig next. Nite everyone!
  17. guess i should have posted the original image and the song xD edited in. The Dr. is standing in front of the Tardis. The best way to describe why i edited this image the way i did goes as such: This is what my ears saw when i listened to this song. Its supposed to be what you would see right before the time jump in Derpy Vision.
  18. so many remixes!~ So i remixed the remix image of the remix that got remixed then remixed again by Sim Gretina Didn't spend to much time on this, listened to the song, made the edit... then spent the past couple of hours trying to figure out how to add this image to the post.... didn't know i could attach it then use that attachment to post it *shrugs* yay for being a newb, here's the image! I call it "The moment before the Jump edit" Here is the Original image with the song!
  19. Thank you so much everyone for the support. This really does mean a LOT to me and i hate that i can't be around enough to keep this ball rolling. Luckily i get a day off after tonight and i can really get some stuff checked off my list and get to replying to everyone. Right now my goals are (in order): - Get a signature going to help get this Mission some more attention on the forum. - Find a good stand alone website to protect MLP forums from any negative attention, if something were to happen, id rather take the damage then anything happen here. - Flush out all the details of the mission. - Come up with a Letter of Intent (or something to that degree) to spread around the net to get the attention of all the fandoms. Its really a LONG shot, but if we dont get support from other communities this mission will fail. Obviously this wont happen over night, but if anyone wants to help with Sigs, that would be awesome. I'll make one too on my day off.
  20. @Everyone here Would it not be better to not have to worry about anything we fans have made being taken away in the first place or seen as illegal? Or copyright owners worrying so much about what their fans do or having the risk of their ownership being taken away as such? Or possibly both working together to help both the product and the fandom grow? Thats my goal with my mission. I dont want to just sit around and complain day in day out and feel heartbroken when something inheritly innocent gets crushed. I would rather fight to make a change now.
  21. There needs to be at least 4 more hours in each day...

Hopefully you say that in the fashion of there being 4 more hours of sleep every day... Cuz the Admiral likes his beauty sleep...

      As sincerely intended xD

  22. (brohoofed so hard) SOPA and Fair Use noted, i'll look into these and find out as much as i can, THANK YOU! Alright, one last thing before i head to work: Since this doesn't just involve MLP, but all fandoms. I'll need to come up with something that can be shown to other communities and get this as much attention as possible. Good or Bad, attention will build this faster then anything. Anyone have any ideas? Feel free to post here, or send me a message and i'll get back to it later.
  23. There have been some changes Please see my latest post regarding this matter. --> HERE <-- - - FAN FREEDOM - - This will now be a place where anyone can post thoughts, ideas, debates about the MLP Fandom concerning: - restrictions or limitations in OC usage - methods of avoiding infringement - Sharing relative experiences - Petitions and gaining signatures - Or just to pop in to put in your two cents = = = Our Goal = = = To try and keep Fans informed and avoid anymore fan-projects from being shut down. If you would like to help support Fan Freedom here on MLP Forums, you can use one of these signature images. I'll have some more signature images you could use later. http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u570/onestepup86/RDFanFreedomSig01_zpsf27fefa7.jpg http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u570/onestepup86/AJFanFreedomSig02_zpsfbfa1aac.jpg - - more to come - -
  24. They aren't, im not just talking about MLP here. You'll see in a bit when im done with writing my topic. Or at least i hope i get it posted before i have to go to work. Never enough time for stuff like this Dx
  25. Breaking the hearts of fans who put a lot of effort in anything related to the fandom they love is DIRE in my book. Who knows how the members of Mane6 feel about MLP now... they may hate it or feel very upset whenever MLP is mentioned. I can't stand to think about it, every time i do i get upset and it makes me just as mad as when i first found out 'Fighting is Magic' got shut down.
