The way I rank the singing voices of the Mane Six is vastly different from how I rank the ponies themselves. My favorites, in order, go: Applejack, Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity. But when it comes to singing voice: #1 - Twilight Sparkle #2 - Rarity #3 - Fluttershy #4 - Pinkie Pie #5 - Applejack #6 - Rainbow Dash So as you can see, I think Rarity's voice is FAR superior to Rainbow Dash's, even though she's admittedly my least favorite of the Mane Six. Although I did like RD's part in "At the Gala", her singing voice overall is just too rough for my opinion. I think the problem with Rainbow Dash is the same problem that Applejack had. Both of them have "specialized" voices - Applejack has an accent that doesn't lend itself well to most musical styles, but she was really able to shine in "Raise This Barn", which is one of my favorite songs. Rainbow Dash needs a song that plays to her strengths, like a rock ballad or something that takes advantage of her rougher, more adolescent-sounding voice.

Heh, the city where I live is always a city in Equestria - Vanhoover! But then, I think the Equestria version of it is based off of Vancouver, BC rather than my hometown of Vancouver, WA. But let's see... a couple other cities nearby... Portland = Ponyland Seattle = Seattfoal?

Commander_PonyShep, you seem to be taking this entirely the wrong way. You can't just say that no one can like it because you don't. With EVERYTHING, you have to understand and accept that there are going to be differing views, and each opinion is just as valid as the next. Yes, you might be in the minority, but that doesn't make either your opinion or theirs the wrong one. You've heard the phrase that "everyone is entitled to their own opinion", I'm sure. But the way you're acting is pretty much equating supporting Twilicorn with supporting Nazism - that there is no way it's the right idea and people who support it are terrible people. I realize that's a very extreme analogy, but it seems fitting. I personally hope and believe that Twilicorn is here to stay - there is no mistake to correct, and therefore they will keep Twilight as an alicorn. If the writers revert her back to a unicorn, I feel that this will cheapen everything that she has accomplished so far. It'll be caving in. No offense to the community in general, but the developers should NEVER allow the fans to dictate important plot points. They shouldn't change entire storylines just because some people don't like what happened. The writers are aware of the "outrage", but they're also aware that there is a huge part of the community that SUPPORTS Twilicorn as well. No matter what they do, they'll upset half the community. The examples you cited were about bringing back popular characters, not entirely re-writing one of the major plot points. You're comparing changing Twilight back to a normal unicorn with making an episode where Trixie makes a reappearance. You can't say that Twilight being an ordinary unicorn is how the show was MEANT, because the writers can make the show mean whatever they want it to mean. You don't know for certain what the future has in store, so how can you say that this change is a mistake? All you - or any of us - can do is ASSUME. You ASSUME that Princess Celestia changed Twilight's destiny by making her an alicorn, but it's been heavily implied that becoming a princess was ALWAYS Twilight's destiny. I really think that the biggest problem people have with this is that they feel blindsided by how QUICKLY the change came on. Had it been executed differently, maybe more people would be on board with it. But they're basing decisions off of a single episode because that's all we have to go on at the moment. Season 4 will give the writers a chance to prove Twilicorn's value to the community as a whole. Here's how I see the change: As people learn and grow, they change. Change isn't inherently good or bad, it just IS. Everything changes to some degree... even friends. The others of the Mane Six won't feel as though they've been left out or anything, because they know that Twilight has EARNED her wings. When your best friend changes, you don't turn away from them. You accept them for who they are. Twilight is still Twilight, but now she has flappy things.

Oh, Freewave, but I'm getting such amazing recommendations here! Basically, I'm not such a huge fan of "aggressive" metal or punk, but I do have a wide range of tastes. Hansel - I liked ALL that you posted. They had good vocals AND good instrumentation. MandoPony has become a favorite of mine, and I'm totally digging that Ponyphonic too! Night Shine - That "Through Equestria" song by NightBreeze was very good! I'm not big on the "darker" instrumental pieces, though. Although all those other ones you posted sound like they'd go well in a movie! Stellafera - Not big on musical theater, but I LOVE LOVE some good jazz!

Ooh, I have to post here. Because everyone must know the beauty of the art that is Akili-Amethyst. She does these AMAZING stained glass pictures that are so lovely and colorful. She is absolutely my favorite MLP artist out there right now. Here are a few examples of her work: Twilight Sparkle Celestia and Luna Octavia They're very large images, so I just linked them :3

Freewave - I really enjoyed the embedded videos there - I love cut-up vocals provided they're done well. They were right up my alley I also liked your "I've Got to Find a Way" remix very much. And thanks go out to Thunder-Dash and Brosparkles for suggesting Mandopony. I have now subscribed to his channel.

Okay, so I'm still new to the fandom and I love music. So naturally I want to listen to some good fan music. I've been browsing EqD under their "music" tag looking for some good stuff, and looking at the threads right here. But here's my problem. Most of the music that I've found in the fandom has been heavy techno, dubstep kind of stuff. Which I don't like. I don't like hardcore, sharp-edged computerized music. I want something more... harmonious. Melodic. I prefer something with vocals, but I would not mind a good instrumental provided it had some really good orchestration or something. I'm explaining this terribly. Basically, I'm looking for something that has either "real" instruments or at least allows the vocals to rise above the techno bits. :c Can anyone point me toward something like this?

I personally felt that this would have been better as a two-parter. The whole "switching cutiemarks" thing was just glossed over so much. It was like "okay, here's the problem, I have the solution, poof, it's done". Maybe have that be the first episode and then the second part is the solution to the "switching cutiemarks" problem and then the coronation. The singing was also overdone. I prefer quality over quantity, and the songs just weren't up to the same standards as the other ones in this show. But don't get me wrong. Even if it was poorly-executed, I'm super-psyched about Twilight being an alicorn now. I love it. I hope hope HOPE she stays this way forever!

At what point did certain pony/ponies win you over?
Suzaku replied to Bucky McGillyCuddy's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Twilight Sparkle was originally my favorite, but Applejack continually showed a strength of character that kept pushing her steadily to the top. The scene in "The Best Night Ever" when she gave Rarity her apple fritters even though her intention was to come to the Gala to make money for her family was probably the starting point. The turning point that sent her over the top was in "Sisterhooves Social", when Applejack was willing to give up her family time to help another family bond. Applejack has shown herself time and again to be a selfless, hard-working pony, and that made her my favorite. That episode was also one of the only times I liked Rarity. :3 -
I've already made a few posts and settled my hooves in here, but I forgot to make an introductory thread! So here I am. I'm new to the fandom. I originally watched the first couple of episodes, and it didn't really catch my eye. Then I watched other episodes and got to liking the series as a whole. Let's see... my favorite pony is Applejack, but I really like all of them (except Rarity... sorry, Rarity fans). I've already started writing a fanfic with my own fanponies, which you can see in my sig. Um. I don't really know what else to say about myself, so feel free to bombard me with questions!

The Mane 6 and their nationalities

Twilight would win, I think. She has demonstrated spells with the ability to stop someone in their tracks, and she would most definitely be able to take Rainbow Dash down with that. Think - even though Rainbow Dash can fly at the speed of sound, she still has to get close to Twilight to do any damage. Meanwhile Twilight has the ability to use the distance to her advantage. Fluttershy would be a dark horse (no pun intended) in a free-for-all, though. If she used her animal magnetism to get large animals or even an overwhelming swarm of smaller animals to attack, she might win with their help.

Am I the only one who likes Cadance and Shining Armor?
Suzaku replied to Champion RD92's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I love Cadence. Shining Armor is neat too, but I especially love Cadence. Normally I don't go for the pink, cutsie kind of thing, but Cadence has a depth to her that makes her a great character. Not to mention the song "This Day Aria" is AMAZING. It has more depth and expression than any other song in the show, in my opinion. -
Favourite Ponies 1) Applejack 2) Princess Cadence 3) Derpy Hooves Favourite Antagonists 1) Dischord! (Q was my favorite Star Trek character, so of course I adore Dischord) 2) Queen Chrysalis 3) Do the parasprites count? If not, then Gilda Favourite Episodes 1) A Canterlot Wedding 2) Keep Calm and Flutter On 3) Lesson Zero Favourite Scenes 1) 2) xD3) Favourite Pets 1) Philomena (I have an odd obsession with Phoenixes) 2) Tank 3) Winona Favourite Songs (MLP) 1) This Day Aria 2) Raise This Barn 3) Becoming Popular (The Pony Everypony Should Know)

mega thread Your favourite pony and why?

I was reading the comics today and I saw this pony on one of the pages. With the eyes, the ears, and the cutie mark, it LOOKS like some Elfquest reference (the cutie mark could be referencing the Wolfriders). I know there are a lot of unnamed ponies in the comics, but this one is front and center and I was wondering if she has a name.
