  1. One of the best anime ever made, Monster, I highly suggest it. Its a mature anime, and I don't mean its full of titties and violence or anything, I mean its a really good engrossing story that will make you want to know more and more about the story with each episode, even if the first episode or two is a bit slow. It really pulls you in once the story gets rolling. Its a mystery thriller set in 1990s Germany. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n86hgIXc1BM This anime is great, the main character doesn't stay normal for long! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJyWvBIorhg One of the better animes of recent times. Good choice. This anime is pure fan service.
  2. @, Because that will totally keep you from any sort of nation wide water issues! (I know, ancient meme is ancient)
  3. @, Britain has a pretty high population, if they are to start producing their own food more, than they would have to start using more of their own water for agriculture. OK, so if they do start needing more water than they have available then they would have to build desalination plants. Its expensive to build and run those things and they cause pollution and harm local wildlife. Britain is indeed not one of the worse off areas, but will still be having a tough economic situation. Less people globally will be buying British goods and more people will be wanting to immigrate into Britain from areas with less water.
  4. Really, because Britain will soon be importing more than half its food. Makes me wonder how much of it comes from America or Africa or Brazil. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/feb/24/uk-will-need-to-import-over-half-of-its-food-within-a-generation-farmers-warn And the english part is indeed getting less water than before.
  5. Overpopulation is the cause of the water problem, most of the water used is for making the food we eat. Its not a drinking water problem for the first world, it rising prices for everything, especially food. Desalinization plants also have environmental issues themselves, like pollution. But of coarse, the worse hit areas will be the third world who can't afford the desalination plants, they will have immigrants flooding into the countries with water, it could be hard for a while even with this technology. England is not an island. And Britain does have a water shortage problem.
  6. In the United States it will be California, Texas, Nevada, and the Midwest that will be the most effected, but the entire country would suffer. Big cities probably won't do so well either. @@Venomous, If there are any tapped springs in your area, like a pipe sticking out from a hill where cold clean water pours out from, keep a note of where that is, just make sure its safe to drink.
  7. I'm just going to say this bluntly, human population is growing but clean drinkable (potable) water is declining, and it will be the big issue facing humanity in the coming years unless something happens that changes our current trajectory. More so than global warming or terrorism or oil prices or food prices, or immigration. because the water shortage ties into all of those. In 2050, our Earths population will be about 9 billion, it takes water to grow the crops we eat, water the livestock we consume, and help in the process of generating the electricity we use, in addition to the direct uses of water we have, its just simply not sustainable. This 4 year drought in California is just the start. I found this video about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1gsyhuHGgc The solution that I can think of are desalination plants, but those are expensive because they require a lot of energy to make potable water from seawater, so we would need more sources of energy for those to work, preferable clean energy sources like solar and wind. So if that doesn't happen then at best we can expect there to be more competitive world over a basic necessity of life, and if If things come to worse then... I hope you are able to farm your own food. So this is a thread about preparing for this crisis, and ways to prevent it from happening.
  8. Yeah, I loved 90s nickelodeon. Rugrats was my favorite Nicktoon for a time. One Saturday Mourning, my goodness I had forgotten that intro. I remember that. Sadly Saturday mourning Cartoons are dead, they don't exist on TV anymore.
  9. This games still awesome. Nickelodeon had the best live action kids shows. Modern times still haven't beaten Nick yet. Oh, look its Xena, I may have seen an episode or two of this, I remember the intro theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMQrORyQnEA
  10. Science rules! Pete and Pete was the best, they never did make live action kids shows as good as they did in the 90s.
  11. Let me look it up... "October 11, 1986 – April 1, 1989", its an 80s anime!
  12. @, YuYu Hakusho and Samurai X/Rurouni Kenshin are animes that were created and aired in Japan in the 90s, but came out in English in the 2000s, and we can thank Toonami that we got them. So early-00s nostalgia for us but mid-90s Nostalgia for Japan. Anime styles have changed over the years. The later 2000s where the era that Bleach and Naruto were new and popular with a lot of people (anybody ells ever see someone wear a Naruto headband at high school?). By the time of these shows, the internet has allowed non-japanese folks access to anime not long after it airs in japan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEBevNq8Np4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5dZfuQXOiw
  13. There were a few intros back then that would get you pumped to watch the shows! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9kN0pct-Q8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IzSGvXc_PM
  14. Metroid Prime, I got that game on Christmas along with the gamecube. Paper Mario 2 was also great. Remember Digimon? I know Digimon started airing in the US in 1999, but its moastly a 2000s thing as far as I'm concerned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FCYURvubxc
  15. Anyone ells think this was a good era for music? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThvRHvjOMQI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahWmkV0mtvk
  16. @@Sobana, True, but G5 will be its own show though, and we can't keep it about the same 6 ponies or it will get stale. This is the way to keep things fresh
  17. @@Sobana, Do we really want a re-imagining of Twilight Sparkle and others as the main characters though? I wouldn't mind seeing them again as side characters even if it is a new universe in G5, but I want new ponies with different personalities being the new main characters. Anyways, having the current main characters be in G5 as side characters sounds like something Hasbro would do, it allows Hasbro to keep selling the current mane 6 toys in addition to the main character group in the next gen, so they keep capitalizing on gen 4s characters popularity into the G5 era.
  18. @@Kyoshi, Yeah, I rather like the idea that she made nightmares, it makes sense.
  19. In the Flash back in the episode 'Princess Twilight Sparkle' we see Luna become Nightmare moon and then get defeated by Celestia and sent to the moon. I don't think that was when Luna became Nightmare Moon, even now as depicted in 'Luna Eclipsed' that Luna can morph into her Nightmare form at will. There were legends about Nightmare Moon and a statue of her in that form, so that short confrontation where Luna was banished can't have been the only time she took that form. I think that flashback was just the culmination of the conflict. Plus, her name was Nightmare Moon, so I think she was haunting ponies dreams for some time before she was sent to the moon.
  20. I love the idea of those two having a child. But I dislike the idea of yet another girl alicorn when we have yet to even hear of a male one even ever existing.
  21. Hasbro will reboot the toys with each generation, so the G5 show will almost certainly will be a brand new cast in the next show because the TV shows are advertisments to the toy line. It might be the same universe as FIM, but If the current mane 6 return next show then they will likely be side characters.
  22. Some people do like movie theatres for the experience, don't read too much into that story it was just for fun. I actually hate the word "Swag" but I just thought it worked for that sentence.
  23. I certainly hope that the MLP movie won't kill off a bunch of characters to make way for new ones. Joking asides, I don't think the movie will be an attempt to reboot G4, but it is possible we may get a G4.5 of sorts before G5.
  24. Of coarse I know of that, I'm just predicting that it will gain a second wind thanks to the inherrent publicity of an MLP movie. I don't think there will be yelling, I was exagerating the reaction. Or at least I hope there isn't any yelling! Maybe some chearing at the start and applause at the end.
