Martial arts I'm interested in would be Krav Maga, and 52 Blocks for practical self defense. For Internal stuff I would go with Tai Chi. For physical conditioning I would go with Shaolin Kung-Fu (takes a lifetime) For weapons, Escrima.

@@Steel Accord, The main reason nunchucks are illegal is because they can be used as a 'choking weapon.' Yet, chains and rope aren't illegal...hell...technically a chain whip is legal in Texas to carry around.

The spirits of the Tae Kwon Do masters are not pleased. 1 million jump squats is your punishment. I figured you might respond. That's a pretty decent exposure to the arts you got there! I know how you feel about lack of schools in reach, though. I think there was one in my town, tiny dojo, but I don't know if its still there. And yes, the best self defense is knowing how to avoid a fight in the first place. I really really doubt that I'll have nunchucks or a bo staff on the day I do get into one. Nunchucks aren't street legal anyways.

Anyone practice any kind of martial arts? I'm not sure if there is a topic like this already, but i figure I'd go ahead and make this one. Could be any kind. Karate, Boxing, Wrestling, Krav Maga, whatever. I practice freestyle nunchaku and bojitsu. I would hardly qualify myself as battle ready, its mostly exercise for me. I find it funny that I hit myself less with nunchaku than that broom handle I use.

Delete and Lock. These are the only things you can do with your status's. But what if you made an embarrassing spelling mistake? Something that you could easily rectify in a post, but not so easily in a status update. How can this even be allowed to go on? I could meet my future employer on these forums, you know? What do you think is gonna happen when they see I misspelled 'santa' as 'satan' ? Future me gets fired for being a heathen devil worshiper, thats what. The potential for embarrassment is astronomical! One day you'll see ",Oh hey, Did you hear about that new probe that NAS launched?" on my status feed and the next comment will be SasQ telling me what a ninny head I am for confusing the National Academy of Science for Nasa. And do you know what happens then? This is a serious problem that needs to be rectified post haste before I accidentally add an extra 'E' when mentioning the short form of the National Electrical Manufacturer's Association and get myself banned.

If I'm not mistaken, neither does Aramaic. It does exactly as Piraha does. There is also some african tribes that have two or three color words. The word for red would apply for orange and yellow, while the word for blue would apply to all cool colors. Very simplified. A few other thoughts. When dealing with a language that has a minimalist alphabet or phonetic table (like Polynesian languages) reduplication can be employed to expand vocabulary. Do you think there may be a place for this trait in the Unicorn language? Would it be necessary? Also, I gave some thought to you choice of consonants. You have a choice between expressing a plosive phonetic or a stopping phonetic in some of your hieroglyphs. Have you given any thought to having the pronunciation of either the plosive or stop indicative of mood or some other grammatical function? Just a thought...might just be adding uneeded bells and whistles.

@@SasQ, That is informative, however a wee bit too technical for me to digest and practically apply. I work intuitively from reference, though some of the things I'm trying to do aren't really in my references. However, I will show one of my cel shaded works. [incomplete -- very simple] Don't laugh at my orange guy. He's tough and will beat you up. One of my issues in the other thing that I'm working on is casting hard shadows from direct lighting. I this leg that casts a hard shadow on another figure, but it makes the figure look way too flat. Maybe its my layer order, or just not planning ahead better, I dunno. While I can't show that picture, maybe there are some things that could be worked with on my orange guy that'll help me understand how some of light angles work better. -

@@Bucky McGillyCuddy, 2d work. Reference is important, but it seems with the particular combination of figure placement and lighting, I can't find an appropriate reference. I could say screw it and go with a different lighting or minimal cel shading, but I'm trying to do something advanced. -
I'm working on a piece of art where I'm having a tough time with cel shading. No, I can't show you. Pls, Don't ask. Trust me. My main problem is understanding how certain lighting angles work with cel shading. I've looked at many artists and seen many variations of cel shading styles, however it seems that i'm only capable of doing the simplest of things. Anything too complicated and it turns to shit. Pls...amazing cel shading artists.... Tell me your secrets.
