Spider-Man was around long before I was born, but the character was still a part of my childhood. And likewise we owe some other Marvel icons like Doctor Strange to Steve Ditko as well.

      May his memory live on!

@Kyoshi no mystery, I ripped it off my profile because I didn't want it there. I get to decide what goes on my profile.

While I am on the topic of death ... and before I lock this thing ... here are some words I take to heart personally.

I've witnessed enough close and personal death to last me several lifetimes. At this point I am kind of an expert at various ways of expressing grief, including the casual acknowledgement of the passing of an artistic creator who is deeply connected to some of my fondest memories of me and my father, and that I got to share with my son later in life. It is a representation of one of the more nuanced elements of death, that our memories extend beyond our corporeal plane. My son will likely introduce his children to these stories and art. Not only with Kirby 'live' beyond his 90 years, but so will I. Kirby, The Beatles, a smile, the box of donuts I dropped to the VFW, all of these are the chance to make connections with people in a positive way, to form new moments and memories.

Aint no edgelord, negadelphian, pity party here. Just a son and a dad doing a little bit of harmless self-indulgence while he wistfully recalls the first time I read "thwip" and fell in love with a platform of narrative.

Also ... MARY JANE PARKER ALWAYS!
