  1. Hi there, after the last episode I just had to do a picture with zecora and I took a shot at my interpretation of her mask. I'll use the picture for my boardgame too, it fits!
  2. Thank you all so much for the feedback! Oh wow! Thanks, especially for regarding it as a little bit creepy I had similar thoughts when analyzing the original thing honestly. Thank you! I had never heard of this artist before, so I looked him up and now I feel honored, thank you! This is an element of the boardgame. A red apple signifies an unsafe location, a green apple signifies a safe location to be.
  3. I had my own little take on twilights castle and will use the picture in my boardgame Ponyville Mystery. I thought (since it made the jump to EqD) to share it with you as well. Location in the boardgame:
  4. First of all, thank you As for the ear, I actually shifted it around during the creation process of the picture quite a bit. I stuck with this version for two main reasons. One being on how the ear seems to continue the „line“ the back of the head is drawing, creating a little more sleek and dynamic appearance. Same thing in the front – the ear continues the “line” drawn by the surrounding stuff (brow and horn). I took this liberty not unlike I took the liberty of changing the appearance of the ear itself and not showing the back fins they have instead of a mane. The second reason is the purpose of the artwork itself. I did not want to cut off more of the ear by the template while trying to keep the changeling itself as big as possible. So... I agree... the position of the ear is debatable, but done like this with reason.
  5. The game itself is based on the boardgame Arkham Horror and some designs bear a close resemblance to the counterparts in Arkham Horror. All card designs and stats are inspired by the original boardgame, everything else is my work. An example: Arkham Horror Ponyville Mystery Aside from that, every artwork, every little story for the encounters, every design is my own work.
  6. ...maybe he stubbed his hoof? ...or maybe someone took his sandwich ...maybe he practised making his war-face ....maybe....he's like "Damnit Chryssi, I'm a Changeling, not a doctor!" We may never know! This pic is actually for my boardgame Ponyville Mystery. Our little mad Changeling here will be one of the many enemies.
  7. Back after a long pause.

  8. Hi there, I'm currently in the process of creating location artworks for my boardgame Ponyville Mystery (link: https://ponyvillemystery.wordpress.com/ or http://ponyvillemystery.deviantart.com/) and I'd like to showcase some of my artworks regarding locations you can visit throughout the game. The Poison Joke Field: Appearance in the boardgame: Quills and Sofas: Appearance in the boardgame: The Shrine of Nightmare Moon: Appearance in the boardgame: Fluttershys Cottage: Appearance in the boardgame:
  9. Working working working on Ponyville Mystery!

  10. Hey there I did some experimenting with different styles and nuances in and around the picture. The inspiration manifestation book suits this purpose perfectly, as I am able to concentrate mainly around the book itself and the flames of its transformation and I essentially work on two very different books and can test various techniques without sacrificing the overall look and feel. The picture rested on my hard drive until yesterday when I opened it again. I’m not entirely satisfied (but.. oh well… I never am) but decided to give it another shot in certain areas and a little bit polish. The artwork is for my boardgame: Ponyville Mystery
  11. Yes and no . It is a boardgame similar to an existing one named Arkham Horror, although it only borrows the mechanics and numbers from there, Ponyville Mystery is actually art-wise completely self-made. The game is about playing as a minor character or OC (if one likes to create his characters with the character sheet template), walking through Ponyville and solving investigations. Along with your character comes a set amount of money, set items, randomized items, skills and sometimes even a pet. Most rounds you stop at a location of your choice and get a card of said location, describing what is going on there. Mostly you need to pass a check (Combat-check, Speed-check, Lore-check, etc.) depicting the outcome of an event and the better your character is in that field, the more dice you can use trying to pass. Every character has unique strengths and weaknesses, along with special abilities. Item, such as this box, help you with these tasks. A little example: Say you chose Nurse Redheart as your character (http://ponyvillemystery.deviantart.com/art/Nurse-Redheart-Investigator-Card-357458955). Every pairing of stats (Speed/Sneak, Fight/Will, Lore/Luck) is linked to each other. For example... the more lore you choose, the less luck you have (you indicate your choice by placing a marker there) You now decide to go to the Poison Joke Field http://konsumo.deviantart.com/art/Gameboard-Poison-Joke-Field-494912017 (maybe to avoid an enemy you are not keen to fight or you are on your way to Zecoras Hut to learn about a magic spell). You end your turn there and get a card, for example this one: http://konsumo.deviantart.com/art/Deep-Everfree-Forest-06-496797130 You now have to pass a Luck check (-1) in order to be lucky enough to notice an item. This means you look up how much Luck you currently have, subtract 1 (because it is a -1 check) and roll this amount of dice. If its a five or a six, you succeed, getting the item. Some items grant a bonus to certains stats and can help you (for example http://konsumo.deviantart.com/art/Firefly-Lantern-376277358 ) I started off by creating the different shapes and parts from paths rather than just drawing it. After that I shaded it, worked on textures and only after that I added in all the little details. The inscriptions, ornaments and such are most of the work to be fully honest but I really like fiddling around with all the little details. I love the idea of exploring a picture, noticing details and sometimes even finding hidden messages the artist left.
  12. In that case "Mysterious Lockbox" would be a little more suitable in the context of my boardgame as the characters you play as are minor characters (or OCs) and are more likely not to know what they have in their hooves until they really need it and after fulfilling its use, the item has to be discarded. Unlike most items, you can only use it once for an enormous bonus instead of a smaller benefit present during the game. I never looked at it that way.
  13. Hi there! I currently work on an artwork for my boardgame and created the lockbox provided by the Tree of Harmony in season 4 as an item. First of all... how do you like it? Furthermore.... does this lockbox have a specific name mentioned in the show? If yes, which name is it? If not, how should I name the item? The chosen name appears like this on the finished card, currently stating "Mysterious Lockbox": The background of the artwork is not finished of course.
  14. Now for my favorite part, flooding the picture with details! https://www.dropbox.com/s/p882qaai8tzzf6x/Lockbox2.png?dl=0

  15. Not feeling well today. Loneliness paired with nausea. Blergh

  16. Damn, if I think back to the old german fairytales I was told... ...I wonder what reviews they might cause. But to be fully serious. The show is neither too violent nor too profane. Everyone refusing to expose their children to such a harmless and nice cartoon because of the raised concerns in that "review" not only fails to see the bigger picture (morals and lessons taught throughout each episode) of the show itself but ultimately does their children no favor with this overprotective behavior.
  17. Maybe its just me but I really do not hear anything unusual. Sure it is a bit deeper but within the range Applejack should have. If you word a warning, you automatically speak different and in this case it is a warning but nothing the adressed character cannot see coming. If someone is about to do something stupid and I say "I wouldn't do that if I were you." I also tend to speak a little lower than usual while if I spell out a warning to turn the attention of the listener to an urgent matter, I tend to speak a little higher pitched (for example "Look out!"). The deeper voice used in the former case automatically carries a certain weight for the adressed person while the latter higher pitched warning carries urgency.
  18. I don't know if it is considered rude to post my own artwork and I'm not so sure if posting Flutterbat is okay but.. um..well... I hope you like it.
  19. I'm not really satisfied on how the scan turned out and there are a few areas I'm not 100% satisfied with... but the idea popped into my head and I followed it through.
  20. I went right away and did, thank you all! @@The Pink One, Guten Tag! And thank you everyone else for the kind words and the warm welcome, I really appreciate it!
  21. I hate being in the first 30% of a picture... I never know if I should sketch or just start inking away :/

    1. 1Bit

      1Bit

most of my artwork ends up just being sketches =P I dont trust myself to do a good job XD

Truth be told... I almost never just sketch if I have a picture in mind (which sucks since my way of drawing requires dozens of hours after sketching).

  22. Hi there, over the next few days I'd like to showcase some of my artworks, especially the traditional ones and thought I'd start with a portrait of Queen Chrysalis I did some time ago. I used pigment ink (and if I remember correctly just one pigment ink marker). I tried to create an artwork similar to old portrait depicting royalty so I included a stronger focus on the symbols of power (crown, royal coat) as well as designing a fitting frame, relating to the portrayed queen.
