  1. To one of the smartest people I know, Merry Christmas. And I do mean that, by the way. You seem very knowledgeable and are a very nice person. I think maybe you will appreciate this, then:

Not much of a gift, but Merry Christmas again !

@Stone Cold Steve Tuna Hi from your past! This status is one of your largest ones (spanning multiple pages). And I actually relate to this one a lot since I look up at the stars a lot, and I do keep an eye on Betelgeuse in hope to actually look at the exact moment it explodes! Which it never does, but still. :mlp_icwudt:

EDIT: Funny how I think the video might not even be the same as the one you originally posted?

The funny thing is, Betelgeuse could go supernova anywhere from tomorrow to 1 million years from now- average guess is 100,000 years. It could have already gone and we just haven’t seen the light come to us yet!
I believe that was the video. Supernovae are amazing except for when they’re too close!

We don't want to get sterilized by supernovae now do we?

Yea, we are looking at the light from the stars, not the actual stars. So Betelgeuse might already be gone at this minute, but we won't see it until the light travels here, together with the rest of the deadly waves (that might or might not hit us, hopefully probably not). :mlp_icwudt:
