    April Fools' Day only came into existence in the mid-1900s! A Scottish epistemological empiricist created the occasion along with a fabricated cultural history as a social experiment to determine the number of people who didn't apply any research or critical reasoning whatsoever to validate learnt information!

    Rapid publicity ensued, causing several countries to jokingly propose it as a national holiday for the following year, and it had comfortably settled into modern folklore and most calendars by about 1955. The true spirit of April Fools' is your science teacher telling you not to reference Wikipedia in your essays.
