  1. @@Shift,

"Well, we both have 'the usual' to go to. As much I'd like to delay it, I'd rather not be late," Agnes replied, her hands up in an "oh well" kind of gesture. "...Unless they decided to be nice and give you an off-day?" Her smile and tone were both quite wry.

"Hey, you can read and I can be your eyes or something. I just don't want you to get punished or anything. If they aren't feeling nice today, then there proooobably won't be anymore starefests."

(Sorry for the really late reply; school has taken me prisoner with all of the tests and projects, and my free time is dedicated to sleeping and trying to relax; I haven't had a chance to post. Seriously sorry for making you wait so long like a jerk :/ So to make it up longer than usual post.)

Pythia looked up from her book about five minutes after Agnes talked, only just realizing someone talked to her. "...did you say something? Sorry to make you wait... the book got good. There was a funny part about ninjas and magic... I felt like laughing." Pythia gave no indication of doing so earlier. "So... um... hopefully they gave me an off day. They do, but it's usually because I have to interrogate someone... sometimes I have to assist the commander..." Pythia gave off a visible shudder, rather out of charcter from her. "Anyway... do you think you have an off day today? Maybe he's giving us a day of mercy because of the newbies... that would be nice of him. Though... Jake left, hopefully he's alright. I always worry for him, I don't want him to get hurt. I also worry for you, but Jake a little more, because of his... Um... Hyde."

Pythia put her book into a small, shabby pocketbook she wore, which was also filled with pencils, pens, her fanfiction archi- er, her book of short stories, and a few books on psychology. "That should keep me from being distracted. So... where do you want to go? We could go to the gymnasium to see how the newbies are doing... I can see so many ways how that could go wrong, but we might be able to delay our tests, and we'll have the infallible excuse of being with the boss. Or we could go find Jake... Or do both... or do something else, like find that wizard and punch him. Um, or do something less violent to him. Let's scold him even more if we find him."

  2. @@Lithophila,

    Maybe I liked it because i'm an anime fan?whatever i dunno.mlp-fecstatic.png

I thought Cloud's scream at the end when Zack died was a little melodramatic, I expected it to be a softer farewell, but eh. About Cloud witnessing Zack;s death I've assumed that Cloud is so psychologically screwed up by that point that the mako screws with his brain enough that it shuts out Zack's death from his brain, not that it erases the memory, but enough that Cloud doesn't want to think back on it. Later, when he's 'himself' again, he obviously remembers Zack, but during the time when Cloud was a puppet he kinda shut everything involving Zack (including the death) away and replaced himself with Zack, except for key moments (AKA when he meets his mother again, when zack dies, etc).

Also I thought Zack went into the Lifestream except it looked like he was going into heaven? Or maybe Lifestream heaven? Hell if I know. You know, that begs the question; if the Lifestream is the afterlife in FF7, then how come angel wings exist? Is anybody on the planet aware that the wings that Genesis/Angeal/Sephiroth grew are angel wings? Does anybody know the wings are an angels, or knows what an angel is? If there are no angels, then how come Sephiroth's jam is called One-Winged Angel?

  3. @@Lithophila,

Oh, that's what you meant! Sorry, I was thinking about it the wrong way. I personally think that Advent Children made Cloud a little too angsty and kinda flanderized some of the characters too much - don't get me wrong, I loved Advent Children, it's a great movie, but some of the characters felt way too different. Cid, Yuffie, Aerith, Rufus, and Vincent were fine, but Cloud felt way too angsty, The Turks were played for comedy far too much (especially Reno; did everyone suddenly forget he dropped Sector 7?), and Tifa just felt... off. Sephiroth's remnants i'm giving a pass because they were meant to be flanderizations. I think that after FF7 Cloud should be a little melodramic; not so much that it takes over his personality or is too much of a burden, but enough that it's there. I've always thought that after FF7 Cloud would be his old self plus a little angst because of the events in FF7. Still adorkable (Let's mosey.) but has a healing mental scar from FF7's events.

I like how they did Zack and Cloud's last stand in Crisis Core; I personally thought it was extremely well done and a lot more emotional than it was in FF7... Probably because of how Zack's DPS was used and how everything started to slowly fade away and glitch out. I agree that they should've upped more of the mako poisoning's affect with Cloud; it really didn't feel like Cloud was in any mental anguish. I know I sound like a sadist for saying that but i'm a sucker for characters with deep psychological issues that're shown, and i'm holding out that Square Enix is going to make FF7: The Remake as psychologically interesting as the first. I'm pretty optimistic about that because of the way Nomura's portraying Cloud in the trailer; how sickly he looks and everything, shows how he's on the verge of dying if it wasn't for mako.

Also, glad to see we share the same love of Cloud's mother's scene thingy. That's probably one of my favorite scenes in the game; it's really... I don't know how to put it in words, mentally upsetting? Extremely disturbing because of all of the glitching? Extremely tragic and heartfelt? All three of these things? Probably. It's the scene i'm most excited to be in the remake. Well, second to the famous crossdressing scene.

  4. It's far too early to determine whether a remake is doomed. We know absolutely nothing about how they're portraying the characters, they've only really said a few lines; we aren't sure how the episodic thing is going to work yet (Actually there was an interview with Nomura about that, can't find it though), we've only seen like 11 seconds of the gameplay; shouldn't we wait for more information than jumping to conclusions? I'm not a big fan of the episodic release, but i'm willing to wait and see.

    @@Lithophila,

The right picture of Cloud is, I believe, from a game after FF7 took place. If you had to go through all of the shit Cloud had to put up with on the first game, i'm sure you'd look like 'CLOUD NOW' too. He has quite a lot of issues to work with.

FF7 on the PS1 is awesome, though! Won't argue with that.

  5. Only thing mobile gaming is good for is the FF7 port. The port's actually pretty decent, and a mobile FF7 is pretty much my dream come true, but trying to play Tifa's piano to get Final Heaven is... frustrating. The controls aren't bad either.

Otherwise, mobile gaming isn't great, but it's lost a lot of momentum from what I can see. Most controls are bad. Good content is a diamond in the rough.

  6. @@Envy,

Please no, that game was awful. Why did it have to exist? It's like a weaker, not fun, more money-hungry Mario Party.

    @,

And Splatoon, how could you forget woomy shooters? Also technically Xenoblade X, but that came out today, so there really isn't a current verdict on it, but I've heard from a few of my friends it's good so far. I'll develop an opinion when I get it for the holidays.

I'm totally fine with more Wii U releases; hopefully they're good games, but please no amiibo festival games. I've guessing that we're getting a 2018 release on the NX, maybe earlier or later. I'm praying for a game that's as good as Splatoon/Smash that's coming out and is really addictive to play; I don't really want to know the amount of hours I've put into woomy.

  7. I'm a little upset Fallout lost to Witcher, but I heard Witcher's good so it's fine. And i'm really surprised Splatoon won best Shooter and Multiplayer game; that came out of the left field, but no complaints here, it's a great game. Though this is coming from a person that doesn't take the awards seriously, so take my opinions with a grain of salt.

  8. @@Akari of Duskshire,

"...yes. I should go." Pythia muttered, even more interested now that some of them have cut off access to their emotions. She'd have more time to... observe them later on. "So... where are we going, Agnes? ...I don't have anywhere to go." Pythia opened up her book and flipped to the page she was at. "It's alright if you don't know where to go, or do't want me to come. I have a book."

  9. @@Akari of Duskshire@@MarionEtte136@

Pythia shot a look at the wizard after his inner monologue. She knew that he wasn't a person she was likely to get buddy-buddy with, but now those thoughts proved that she wasn't going near him anytime soon. And those thoughts were... very worrying. He was powerful without training, so once he got training, he would have more than enough power to turn on them. She definitely needed to keep an eye out.

She closed her eyes and focused her energy, and transferred a message to Agnes and Jake, "The wizard let some thoughts leak. He's planning on 'weaseling to the top of a mountain of corpses that were once allies'. ...don't trust him. He'll only use you if you get too close to him. Just... watch your back, alright?"

She closed up her book after the announcement that mealtime was over. She picked up her notebook as well, and began to observe the newbies from afar. If one was this dangerous, than maybe she misread the others., and they were too as dangerous. She knew she was going to get in trouble with the boss if she kept piercing into the newbies thoughts, but now she was interested. And few things nowadays could make her say that; she was known as the most unmotivated and lazy prisoner here, after all. So she began her creepy stare fest at the newbies and read their emotions, superpower potential, and mental state, looking for anything abnormal.

  10. @@@MarionEtte136@,

Pythia nodded to her companions as they sat down. They were nice to her, so she considered them friends. She decided to address Jake's question and turned to the newbies, staring at them for a very long time. And as in staring, I mean... creepily staring. Pythia was aware she looked stalker-ish right now, but couldn't bring herself to care. She was probably going to get talked to by Louise for being overly creepy, again. After a while, she came to a conclusion. Before she was able to say that the newbies looked utterly normal, if with a bit more potential than most other newbies, she noticed the commotion between the wizard and Jake. She winced inside, knowing it wasn't going to end well. She kept on her emotionless facade, but patted Agnes on the back in a sympathetic matter. The stray thought the wizard let out in the telepathy spectrum wasn't helping.

She looked towards the wizard and narrowed her eyes. Best to stop this before it got worse. "And just WHAT are you doing?" Pythia growled at the wizard. "The prisoner you're harassing been here far longer than you. He has better control over his powers and has friends." She gestured to herself and Agnes. "Do you really want to make multiple enemies on your first day? I'd advise that you stop this childish tantrum over a simple insult and sit down. We are all prisoners here. And Jake, Hyde, er, whoever's in right now, please don't egg him on... we get into enough trouble here as it is." After her speech, Pythia opened up her book and continued reading, trying to distract herself from the argument.

  11. Pythia walked into the cafeteria, got her food, and sat down at an empty(ish) table. She surprisingly liked the food, but many have said that her taste buds were dead, so she wasn't one to talk. She eyed some newbies talking somewhere in the room using her telepathy, but decided not to push it. Nobody helped her when she was a newbie, so she didn't eel obligated to help the new ones out. And anyway, she was awful when talking with people unless she was interrogating them. She took out her notebook and began to write down a short story about what was happening in the book. Well, there was a better term than 'short story', especially given the type of story she was writing about, but she was far too embarrassed to... use the term. And besides, it wasn't as bad as some of her... previous stories. She kept her telepathy on so she would know if anyone tried to come near and read what she was writing.

  12. Because i'm far into the game, i'm just going to list everything that has changed so far in regards to gameplay. I'm not talking about the plot.

    - Recruiting's different; you complete missions and the Pokemon who you completed the mission for gets recruited. If it's an outlaw/rescue/etc mission, you also recruit the rescuee/outlaw mission. This means that in order to recruit all 700-something characters, you will need to do a LOT of missions. Also, some plot-related characters are recruited as the story goes. This also means only 1 Pokemon of each type (there are exceptions like Unown, Pyroar, and Combee) can be recruited.

    - You're unable to nickname recruited Pokemon, besides you and your partner.

    - No IQ system.

    - Moves power up as you use them; there's different levels. For example, since my partner, Snivy, loves to spam Energy Ball, it's Level 8 or something. I still have Vacuum Wave (it's a reliable fighting-type ranged move) after all of these levels, and it's Level 7 or something. This affects all Pokemon; say Virizion gets Leaf Blade to Level 3. All Pokemon who have Leaf Blade will have Level 3 leaf blades. The move levels increase power, accuracy, and most importantly, PP.

    - Moves miss a LOT in this game. I don't know why. It's not uncommon for 5 different moves to miss in a row, even if it has great accuracy. Ironically, Focus Blast never seems to miss for me.

    - You can only have 3 Pokemon at a time, unless you have escort missions, in which the escortee will be the 4th member. You can have a lot of guest characters at a time; this means you can have multiple escort missions at a time.

    - The (Sky) Jukebox makes a return, and there are a lot of great tracks on there.

    - Wonder Mail and Pelipper Island return.

    - Hunger's back! ...not with a vengeance.

    - You can change your name, your team's name or your partner's name, at any given time through the menu. This is great because I really regret the name I gave to my Skitty in my first Sky playthrough.

    - Difficulty is amped up; enemies are more powerful and you're more weak.

    - Money is more difficult to get because you don't always get rewards. However, to balance this, prices in the shop are much cheaper.

    - Tiny Reviver Seeds (A type of reviver seed that doesn't restore your belly and pp upon use) are (un)commonly found in dungeons instead of rarely being found in dungeons, and god knows you'll need them.

    - A new gimmick called an 'Alliance' is here; it's the new linking moves. You select one move per party member to use on one enemy, you activate it, and then you all use up your turn to gang up on the enemy with your moves. They're all powered up during an alliance, but the accuracy is decreased. Protip; no matter how much of a good idea it sounds like; don't use Focus Blast in an Alliance. It will never hit. Oh yeah, Alliances decrease hunger, and are great against bosses.

    - Neutral attacks will always do 5 damage.

    - If you walk towards an ally, you'll push them to an adjacent tile instead of switching. This decreases 1 belly point. It's good for pushing your allies into a monster house to assist you. If you want to switch, walk towards an ally while holding B.

    - All held items are gone. Except things called Looplets. Looplets give bonuses to you off the bat; such as not being affected by weather, raising attack, more exp, etc. They also have slots that can hold Emeras; little jewel things you can commonly find in dungeons that give bonuses like attack up, you can attack twice in a turn, higher crit chance, better accuracy in an alliance, you know where enemies are, etc. You get them in dungeons and put them on the Looplet for bonuses. Better Looplets have better slots. But Emeras do disappear after the dungeon's over.

    - There are different 'continents' with towns, and some of these continents are based off of previous games. Each continent/town has its own dungeons, missions, characters, etc. The difficulty is altered based on these continents; for example, the Water Continent (one you start on) is easier than the Mist Continent (a continent later on). You can travel between them via Lapras.

    - You can see cameos of people from past games; for example, I met Corpish from sky, Persian from Rescuers, Hydreigon from GTI, etc. There are so many references, and I really appreciate it.

    - You can't save in the rest stops in plot important/long dungeons, but you can save using this thing called a Progress Device. They're useful for saving right before the boss.

    - Deposit Box is back, functioning as the bank and storage.

    - Blast Seeds do 100 damage instead of 20.

    - There are these things called Wands; basically stackable orbs that affect one enemy. Examples are Slumber Wand, Confuse Wand, Warp Wand, etc. GREAT tools for bosses and outlaws, they've saved my butt more than one time. They're also pretty common and damn useful because they can stack.

And that's pretty much everything that's changed.

  13. I have a question for anybody that has it and played Gates to Infinity. Are those weird angles better?

I miss the old MD games..

Gates to Infinity was horrible, the angles were weird and the colors are mushed together..

    NOT a 3D game IMO.

They fixed the angles so it's less zoomed in, so it looks like previous PMD games (not top-down, but not really zoomed in). The colors look fine from what I can see.

    Holy banana, it's garbage.

-The graphics are too saturated, I can't see anything

-The mini-map is pretty rubbish, I keep getting lost

-Your partner is a Naruto copy

-japanese school anime cliché (And I hate anime)

-I can already see that this game is aimed toward childrens

    -controls are rubbish

-They still kept the dem 5 damage cap on the neutral attack (A)

-You start with too many moves (I mean, my Charmander tried to learn Ember, but it wasn't worth it because I had a better fire type move)

    -The menu is confusing

-The sprites are not really great either, but it's better than the Charizard sprite in Blue/Red lol. Still not good

-I keep forgetting to press B when I back up, pushing my partner around, and it drains my belly. They could have reversed it, like press b to push.

-The music is pretty bad so far too :( One of the best features from these games...

    And I only reached the School Forest so far, so I still have hopes that it gets better... It's better than Gates to Infinishit tho, which is great, but it won't reach Rescue/Explorer's greatness. I guess my favorite series officialy ended here... gg ;_;

You are literally at the third dungeon in the game. There is no plot right now. In Explorers, was there ANY plot to speak of besides the opening on the third dungeon? I'm on Chapter 14 and the plot doesn't look to be little kiddish from where i'm standing.

I like the mini-map, they disn't change it at all from Explorers, or GTI, or Rescuers, so I don't see the problem. The graphics/sprites are very pretty from what I can see, and I really love the OST. God, my most recent plot boss had god tier music. Also, in regards to OST, you're at the third dungeon. It's like judging PMD:S's music using only Beach Cave, Drenched Bluff, Town, Wigglytuff's Guild, Generic Boss (you haven't even had that yet) and Waterfall Cave. I will agree the pushing is annoying, I always push when I want to switch. The menu takes a bit getting used to; the Alliance and Move Selection buttons are far too similar. Neutral attacks being gone is rather annoying, but I can live. I personally like the controls a lot better than Explorers, to be honest.

Tl;dr: You're at the third dungeon in the game. Isn't it too early to review a game? It's like going through Rescuers and only playing 3 dungeons and saying the plot is awful, and that the music is awful. You've only seen a fraction of the OST, plot and gameplay.

  14. It's out today! Got it, and it's great so far; i'm a Riolu (calling myself Undyne) and my partner's a Snivy (Lyndis (After Lyn from Fire Emblem)). It's a really fun game so far, worth the hype.

Also Story and OST is god tier as usual. Better than GTI by far.
