  5. Well to be honest, a lot of my deployment was spent on a ship, I deployed with the 22nd MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit) which consists of a GCE, ACE, and CE(SOC). Those acronyms all mean Ground combat element, Air combat element, Command Element (Special operations capable). To set the stage for you we deployed early in March, in response to the killings in Libya and the civil unrest. We never actually set boots on the ground in Libya we mostly just supported the operations there with our air power and performed TRAP (Tacical recovery of aircraft and personnel). Howevery you should know that I am a corpsman, which is essentially a medic. Most of my time was spent fixing broken marines Long story short there is some classified stuff and I cant really go into details about it other than we were there in support of coalition operations. We did however do some NEO (Noncombatant Evacuation Operations) in Syria whenever there was a boming threat on the US embassy, we went boots on and provided security and got all the US citizens out of there! Now if your after the ridiculous kinds of stories that happen when we weren't doing anything (which is most of the time on a deployment) I can share some of those dumb moments with you. But as to the scheme of our grand plan. My role was pretty minimal, I just treated the casualties that were evacuated. I've never killed anyone and had the good fortune to never see someone (I know) killed.
  6. What do you want to hear ? :3 It's tough to just start talking about it heh

  8. Yeah actually, just about any physical activity will build arm strength. But Calisthenics (moving your body weight) are the FASTEST way to build it. If you are seriously interested look into swimming, rock-climbing, and aerobics. Any of those will naturally build your strength. I can't go against my first recommendation though. Routine dedicated exercise is the best way to go about it Well actually, the sit ups you describe are actually whats called Crunches, the best way to do sit-ups is to find something to wedge your feet underneath or have a friend hold them. Then you should place your arms across your chest with your fingers resting on your clavicle (shoulders). You need to sit up and touch your thigh with any part of your arm, but dont let your arms leave your shoulders. For the push-ups, you should only rest in the UP position, not the DOWN position. Also, make sure to mention its very important to keep your frame rigid, and focus on keeping your core tight. This is the best way to get the most from your work as it also will strengthen your core and abdominals. No TEEPEE's (putting your but up above your shoulders and making a teepee) Also you should avoid moving your hands around. Once you go up, your up, basically. You might want to add Chin-ups to the exercise challenge too, as they are a phenomenal way to build upper body strength fast, another great exersize is Dips, (Youtube search if you need examples of these). If you cant do a chinup or dip by yourself, have a friend help you or go to your local gym and use the Assisted Chinup/dip machine.
  9. Start with your knees on the ground as far back as you can stand to do them, then move your torso up and down focus on getting 90 degree angles with your elbows. Inhale on the down, and push air out on the "up". Eventually you will build enough strength to do a real one. Also bracing your heels on a wall will help you with this. (Not the knee ups, but the push ups)
  10. If you can do at-least 60 pushups and situps in 2 minutes you can pass my military PT (Physical Training) test. It's the one I have to pass twice a year. Oh also you gotta run 1.5mi in less than 12m 15s. Goodluck! (:
  11. Week 1 (In 2 minutes) Push ups: 87 Sit ups: 106 Cool thread idea! Keep working at it!

  13. Does anyone have any good resourses for learning this song? I'm a relatively new guitar player with just a month or two of experience but I feel like I can learn this song if I put my mind to it. I've found a few tabs versions out on the internet including the one transposed by iceberg into easier chords. But I feel like I'm just not doing it right; this is my first time playin with a Capo also and I am just looking for some helpful advice on how the best way to go about learning it is. My biggest problem is that the chords I am playing just don't sound right for the song when I play it side by side.. Help please! http://vocaroo.com/i/s0UskZNurFOp ^ thats a recording of me explaining my problem and trying to play it

  17. This thread is a great read. I have experienced what a lot here have. I haven't been to a store yet in fear of embarrassing myself... But I can feel that soon I will break free from this shell. Should I go to Toys R Us in my new pony t-shirt?! I feel like this weekend is going to be a great time. Maybe I'll record it!
  18. I must admit as a guy and being in the military its tough to show pride without feeling shy about it. Its just not the social accepted standard, not that I really go for those, but its really uncomfortable to have people talking about you. Its especially bad when they openly confront you. I just ordered three MLP shirts, and I thought to myself on every design. Would I be comfortable wearing this?
  19. Post up pictures of what you get! I'm curious to see these cards and your impressions of them
  20. I like #4 and #6 4 because applejack is best pony 6 because thats an awesome shirt
