I haven't heard of a single one of those bands. I definitely liked Death most though of what I heard.

 

I'm definitely a Death and Melodic Death kind of guy. Which is why I like Scar Symmetry which is Melodic Death.

 

Also, what's the difference between Death and Black metal?

Death's more gutsy. It has that aggression and power in it so it feels like listening to the soundtrack of someone getting their skull smashed with a sledge hammer.

 

Black Metal has more screechier vocals but they're FAAAAAAAAAAAAARR more atmospheric than Death Metal. They can be viewed as a bit more intellectual and more creepy in terms of thought provision.

Apparently this band is said to be "heavy metal" on Wikipedia. This is definitely something more hardcore than just general heavy metal imo.

Exactly what I was saying...except I wasn't sure where to put it. Most other bands get placed in specific places but Skeletonwitch just gets labeled as "heavy metal"? That's like saying it's not worth putting in a category. lol

Alright, I listened to Machine Head's Locust. You were right in directing me towards them, that's definitely one of my favorite styles of metal. <3
