web How do you get views on your youtube videos?

It's pretty difficult honestly, not only do you have to create good content, you also have to be able to get out there, which considering the most viewed videos are on the top of the list that can be quite difficult.

I have like 250 subs, but that's only because i use to play a game that there wasn't a ton of videos for, and then i quit the game and video making for a while, and now hardly any of them watch me anymore and so the subs don't really matter.

Plus I kind of suck at video making really, only reason i got what I did was due to being one of the only YouTubers doing videos for the game at the time.

But yeah, I kinda screwed myself after taking a break, so now I got nothing and probably never will have much of any views.

Get yourself out there. Over. And over. And over again. Let's be honest; how many times have you seen a cool Youtube video and never bothered to check out the rest of the person's stuff?

Probably fairly often.

I've gotten a pretty sizable following of 683 subscribers, but that's after I've kept at submitting my PMVs to EQD and PMV Today. Advertise. I mean, don't be a jerk, but if it is relevant, do bring up your videos! Ask for critiques online! Let people know you exist. Make new content. The more stuff you have, the more people see it. The more good stuff you have, the more loyal fans you'll have. They'll tell other people about your stuff.

All in all, be active in having your voice be heard, and you'll succeed.

Listen to Stella up there^^  She makes some great PMVs, and although still deserving of more subs than she gets now, she has some great advice.

Also, whatever you do, DO NOT do that stupid thing that people do when they tag their video with a tag they think is gonna get them more views just because it's popular.  Nobody will watch your vids. (Edit, if the tag don't fit ;D)

One more thing though, make original stuff.  Do exciting things that are different than what everybody else is doing.  You know that guy who does IRL PMVs?  Nobody else does that, thus he is popular.  Being the first to do something also helps, but doing it well is even better.

I have only 40 subscribers and most of my views come from my Killing Floor videos, because I show demonstration of a certain event update or a weapon pack and sometimes even mods. I've looked and I've only seen just ordinary playthroughs of killing floor, so my little demonstrations are unique, thus grabbing some attention

Apparently all you have to do is smash eggs everywhere like an idiot...

Honestly, though, I've never posted on youtube.  I'd like to, but I just don't know where to start.  I don't have any original or entertaining ideas.

Otherwise, it's just good advertising. I fashion my submissions to EQD like a sales pitch; they're busy and I want to catch their eyes with a snappy title/description. Hook people in a memorable way, but never be dishonest about what your content is.

I visit sometimes channels of youtuber who make good comments to a video or channels of youtuber who get recommended by other youtubers. You know maybe another youtuber who have a little bit more subscribers and views than you? Ask them to recommend your videos in the info section of their videos or directly in the video.

This is a really good method too, by the way. Offering high-quality criticism on somebody else's video is not only nice, but it also attracts the best kind of clientele.

Most of my favorite comments have been from video editors that I also follow the work of. Sheesh, half of this advertising advice is made up of potential letters to Princess Celestia. What goes around comes around, I suppose.  ^_^

Well, I made videos I thought were genuinely interesting, and I was already subscribed and talking to other people I’d met on YouTube who made similar videos and some of them I made friends with, I think that’s how I gained some decent views on several videos.

What kind of videos are you making?

my setup is very cheap but its the contents of the video that matters not the quality I record two ways one on my digital camera or two a recording software known as AVS audio recorder then I use Windows Live Movie Maker to edit the video then I go to YouTube and upload it from there I've been doing this for a year and a half I have 119 subs which is pretty good really to get views though just be yourself in your videos and upload topics people would be interested in the best way to get views is to be a gamer

I try a little bit of everything with moderate success, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, various pony sites. Can't say there's a magical trick that brings in ALL the viewers, but I think all the little bits help. Don't be afraid to reach out and share your content. I really like twitter, even though I barely use it. If you link your channel to a twitter account, and someone else with a linked account "like" your video, they'll send an auto-tweet about it, a feature that's on by default. You never know, it could be someone with a lot of followers!

Talk to people who make similar content, comment on their videos. If you're nice to someone there's a good chance they'll be nice back! If someone gives my videos some love and I see that they make similar videos on their own, I will give that love back. That's how I first came to know *cough* Stellafera *cough* up there!

My biggest support over the years have definitely been Equestria Daily though. Been very lucky to have a lot of videos there. Like I said, don't be afraid to put your videos out there. I don't know what kind of videos you're making, but if it's pony related videos, you got EQD, you got Everfree Network, you got PMVtoday ect.

Oh yeah, and keep making content. Even if no one's watching, if you enjoy it, keep at it! Viewers will come, I guarantee it   ;)

I only have 12 followers and I don't think it will be any higher than 100.  I make mediocre guitar covers of Rush songs, not going to make it big everytime soon.

To be famous, you can:

  1. Do skits that are completely unoriginal and dumb
  2. Do mediocre at best videos with little to no effort
  3. Lets plays
  4. Be Pewdiepie and scream like a bitch at a screen

One thing that might help is to try to spread your videos out as much as possible, I post all my youtube videos on Facebook, my Tumblr page and I have made frequent use of the blog feature on this site as well. It is no guarantee that you will be one of the big shots since there are so many people on youtube but another thing is to know your audience. Who are you trying to reach? What kind of stuff gets their attention? Do keep this in mind but also keep in mind that you are your own individual voice as well, don't change yourself to suit the opinions of others but do pay attention to feedback when you in fact do get it.
