TheMarkz0ne 962 July 17, 2014 Share July 17, 2014 (edited) Have you ever had something that usually you can't get in your average super market? Or something that can't be easily made at home? I am not a cook at all. But I know a chef at a cafe I got to and pretty much for $5 I had this amazing cold soup called watermelon gaspachio( I think that's how you spell it) It's watermelon mixed with herbal spices and some type of vegan-esque chili. What have you guys had? Edited July 17, 2014 by TheMarkz0ne
Princess Periwinkle 3,775 July 18, 2014 Share July 18, 2014 (edited) I had fried alligator tail once. It was a bit tough... Not sure how rare it really is, but I sure don't see it many places around here. Edited July 18, 2014 by Sky Chaser
IceeBrony 251 July 18, 2014 Share July 18, 2014 I love trying strange and unusual food! Ostrich to alligator, peanut soup to Mexican-Asian fusion. Lately I've been enjoying middle-eastern foods. The spices used are yummy. Sometimes it backfires though... I had a chicken liver pate on toast... Supposedly a local specialty, bleh
Frostgage 7,976 August 11, 2019 Share August 11, 2019 I've had halva several times. It tastes a bit like nougat but is much more crumbly. It looks and sounds weird but is super delicious also spellcheck says halva is not a word xD Signature by Lacerna | You should fill out my Johari Window. All the cool kids are doing it. Prospekt 11,020 August 11, 2019 Share August 11, 2019 I've had chocolate covered crickets and they are actually very delicious. I can guarantee you won't be able to find those in a supermarket here in the United States. Signature by Kyoshi
Lucky Bolt 35,085 August 11, 2019 Share August 11, 2019 I had deep fried grasshoppers and grasshopper lollipops before. (It was a lollipop but with a cooked grasshopper in the middle). Weird as hell but delicious af ☆ My socials ☆
TheRockARockster 52,122 August 11, 2019 Share August 11, 2019 I’ve tried eel and it’s very salty but really good. Try not to eat too much because it’s quite rich. sig by @Kyoshi
Dreambiscuit 10,093 August 18, 2019 Share August 18, 2019 I had some crickets (cheddar bacon flavor) at an airport, escargot at Epcot, tripe in Hawaii, and a few Polish dishes like czarnina in Buffalo, NY. I’m from a polish family and some of the stuff we’ve had can be found in restaurants but not often. Trader Joe's has a lot of stuff most other supermarkets don't carry, like foie gras. Early Sunsets 2,107 September 19, 2019 Share September 19, 2019 I'd never thought unsweetened dried cranberries were unique until I tried to find them in stores (I like them in salads). The closest thing to unsweetened I can buy anywhere is dried cranberries with 50% less sugar, but even then there's still a noticeable difference in taste that I don't like. Patty Thundersnow 4,184 September 21, 2019 Share September 21, 2019 Peanut butter and Cheese. It might sound strange, but the protein from the peanut butter pairs well with the protein and flavor of the cheese.
