Is Fluttershy the most mysterious of the Mane 6?

Yeah I agree, but in the end I feel like i want to know about her backstory, because otherwise I'll feel weird not ever really knowing it. Even if the mystery can be fun.

 

Well I have no idea how long the series is planning on going, I'd say 5-7 seasons is a good guess, so it could be this season, maybe next, if we have a next season, who knows. 

 

I wouldn't mind it in S5 though.

 

Well, they've signed a contract to do 5 more seasons, so it would be 10 seasons in total.So, more than likely we will see some sort of development of her background.But yes, the mystery part of her is interesting, but I'd like to be able to fill in the blanks of her past a bit more....I love Fluttershy, and so I'd desperately like to know anything about her past. Whether it be good or bad.

 

 

I've always been of the mind that Flutters comes from a very big and very rowdy family. She loves them and all but they rather exacerbated her shyness and she may have been shunted to the side just a teeeeeeny bit with those types around.

 

She doesn't have a super close relationship to them because of that, and that's my explanation for why we've never heard of 'em.

 

(Dashie, on the other hand, has a very loving relationship with her parents. She just wants to look cool so she doesn't talk about them to other ponies.)

Regardless, I agree, I'm all for backstory, whether it be about the ponies, or Equestria in general. But again I also enjoy discussing and theorizing about the show, so a certain amount of mystery is ok for me. Atleast in certain cases. 

 

But information revealed can lead to discussion too, so I'm all for that too in certain cases.

Selflessness is indeed an admirable trait I believe. And I agree Fluttershy is good with being selfless. 

 

But of course it does make her more mysterious because she then ends up talking less about herself.

 

I'm sorry to hear about the bullying, I myself can be kind of shy, although I don't think it has to do with bullying really seeing as I haven't exactly been bullied, depending on the definition of bullied, what exactly is the cause I'm not really sure honestly. But I can relate myself to her due to being shy(of course I also have a really overly hyper Pinkie Pie type of side too ;p.) 

 

Oh and in "Filli Vanilli" we see some stuff similar to what we see in "Hurricane Fluttershy" about the teasing and deep rooted fears and stuff(The animations around Fluttershy when she is frightened about it are sorta similar too.) Just wanted to point it out.

 

I think that Fluttershy has obviously being bullied, but when specifically did she become shy? I feel like she might not have always been shy, or atleast as much so. Just my thoughts.

Yeah, I think the scene i'm thinking of takes place when she's discovered singing on stage, but regardless. 

 

And I agree, but that is another discussion for another time ;p.

 

It has to have been relatively early, maybe not as early as a foal because she'd be too young to have much affect her, but possibly earlier on.

 

And it's possible it was around the time she met dash, when exactly that is for sure is unclear, but it's possible. It could've also been much earlier and gone on longer, who knows.

I have no idea what to say to this, honestly. There are lots of background areas to explore in all of the mane 6, but maybe you're right. There's lots of things which merit a little exposition in flutters

Why is she shy? Where are her parents? How come she moved when she was young?

This is a very interesting question but I must say that Fluttershy must have had a very rough past. Her best friends are animals after all. She doesn't really have a social life outside of her pony friends and she's even afraid of her own shadow. While the backstory about her becoming evil and all works really well it just doesn't explain why she's scared of practically everything. I mean yes she was teased as a filly but that doesn't make you afraid of everything! Only certain things that remind you of the bullying like flying as we see in Hurricane Fluttershy. Okay let's say that her family did die in some tragic event. She would have to be pretty old for this to really affect her. And since in the Cutie Mark Chronicles we see her make friends with the animals at maybe 14-16ish years old. It still wouldn't affect her like it does. We do however see the other side of her. Fluttershy can get angry as seen in The Grand Galloping Gala and Power Ponies. So why does she keep this side of herself so hidden? Maybe she did something horrible as a filly? Also for a Pegasus she doesn't really fly a lot. We mostly see her walking on the ground, a side effect of the bullying maybe? Honestly, we can speculate about this but nothing is ever going to fully explain why she is the way she is.

I am actually really curious as to how Hasbro is going to explain this, and hopefully we'll find out in season 5.

I wouldn't say whether or not anything about Fluttershy is mysterious other than the nature of her family, being that she remains the only one of the Mane 6 with no known family, but that's the way the show works. Unless it has immediate bearing on the plot or makes for an interesting mention within an episode, usually ideas like where Fluttershy's personality comes from or who her family is remain up to interpretation until they do have to come up. The reason why there may be so many things left unexplored is because there just hasn't been room for it, but hopefully Season 5 grants this opportunity.

i am hoping that season 5 will have an episode dedicated to the parents of flutters, i dont really care for an explaination for "the stare",thats just cartoon logic to me.
