Being able to keep badge status

ChangelingPhilosophy

Recommended Posts

I'm talking about the little badges you get when you reach a certain amount of post. You could choose what you want to be, and you'd "unlock" new badges when you reached the amount of post required. If I want to stay a changeling since that's what I like to "roleplay" as sometimes, I would like to keep it, instead of turning into a pony and so on. This means that we could also have some more badges (which I would be happy to make if you want)

So, ya like? :)

I'd just like to point out that this idea has been shot down several times in the past post-20419-0-29543700-1405880809.png

Personally, I don't care one way or the other about the badge system. Honestly, I only care enough to try and get unicorn badge, and that's only because Rarity is a unicorn

That would sort of defeat the purpose of the badge system... on top of just being able to have a neat picture, the badges are a way to know at a glance how much a person posts, and while it doesn't seem like it would make a difference either way it actually does.

For example, if I'm replying to someone and they have a newer member's badge, I like to try and be extra nice and refrain from making any of the snarky comments I usually make when replying to someone so I don't chase them off.  On the other hand if I see a member has been here a while then I know it's safe to be a little more sarcastic.  And it's not just a tool for sarcastic remarks... things like how I would reply to someone in a tech support thread change based on what their badge is... if they're a muffin I'm going to be super specific and maybe toss in some screenshots to make it clear, where if I'm talking to a dragon, I know that they understand how the site works so I adjust how I talk to them.  It's just a really useful way to be able to gauge your interactions with people without having to go on their profile to see their post count.

Well, that does make sense, I have to agree with you.

I more of wanted to just keep my changeling status because I like role playing as one.

As stated before, this isn't something that's going to be happening any time soon. Whilst its understandable to want to choose your own badge, it defeats the purpose of the badge system completely.

Thanks for the suggestion though :)
