Should we force fictional cultures into the mainstream?

For example, if a fictional human from a fantasy/sci-fi culture ended up on Earth, is it right that we must force him/her to become like us?

Alternatively, if Nation X is based on a fictional culture, and gets independent, are we supposed to force them back into our countries? And should they be punished for not following our culture/rebellion?

(Even if that culture is violent/full of outrageous and dangerous things)

Well damn. This is deep. But I think it would matter what said "Nation X" is doing. If they're attacking us and being generally unpleasant , then I know I wouldn't want them in my world. But if they're peaceful, trading with us, and all good feelings around, we shouldn't FORCE them, but rather...encourage...them to live with us. When you asked about someone coming from the future/fantasy world, I think it's necessary that he/she changes to fit, because we as humans, have a fear of what we don't know. We don't fear all the same thing, but we fear the unknown. The last thing this poor being ripped from his world is some person freaking out and having large riots and shit like that.

But what if Culture X is a minority? And if it is "evil", I'm sure there are those who practice their culture in a way that is more "safer".

If that culture is "evil", should there be ZERO tolerance of it, even a "safer" version?

I hope others can join in the discussion as well ...

Maybe we can try negotiating with them., and those who practice it in a "safer" way can maybe be checked and allowed to live alongside us. The point I was making was about the most evil and vile for "Nation X".

I hope others join too.

And what about the "safe-ified" Culture X? Should it be destroyed, despite any of its beauty?

And how should fictional cultures be treated in the real world, if they are an actual, active minority in our country with their own language and customs (and even religion)?

In a lot of matters including this I defer to the non aggression principle, so long as said visitor does harm to no one. There may be some cultural differences but that dosen't necessarily mean it is a bad thing, if anything we might learn from an alien visitor if we are willing to listen.

Nation X:

As long as they are safe, we can live alongside them. We all just have to be happy and safe with each other.

Fantasy/Future people:

As long as they are not like a cult, convincing thousands to follow, then feeding them cyanide or something like that, or they see humans and the earth as worthless, or a place for profit, then I think we can live beside them. Otherwise, they'll probably have some sort of futuristic sci-fi gear, and then we're truly fucked.

I'm a big believe in freedom and equality. ie you are free to do whatever you want so long as you don't infringe on the freedom of others.

I can't imagine trying to force another culture to give up their beliefs or ideals unless they were aggressive or destructive. Like the aliens from Independence Day are basically locusts and consume everything. Not exactly compatible, but that's not so much culture as it is an attack on people.

Um. Let them decide, but show them what they're missing out on? Unless they're bad then you have to try and force them to join us.
