Which Pony Would Make the Best Military Commander?

Twilight is the strategist, definitely, but I don't think she'd be the best pony to be giving out orders. For that, I'd say Applejack.

 

Applejack is the element of honesty. You know that you can trust her to be in charge of several ponies, if not legions. She's persistent and good under pressure. She's the one to be able to say, "listen, this is what we need to do."

 

Dash would be more like the equivalent of a Navy SEAL. I could imagine her working on her own or in a small group, undercover and behind enemy lines. She would excel at that.

 

So, basically, it'd be like this. Twilight would be in charge of all the intel, as well as gathering and formulating the battle plans. She'd then relay all that information to commander Applejack, who would give the orders and follow them out in real-time on the battlefield. Dash would be the one given special orders to work on her own and go after the big, critical targets with stealth and guile.

 

I don't have even the smallest idea about the other three.

When I saw the title I immediately thought of Rainbow Dash.

 

But now that I think about it, I think Twilight would be the best military commander. Not only is she really smart, but she's also a natural leader. A good fighter as well.

Yeah, keeping with the Civil War I kept getting to Rarity and it was like drawing a complete blank. Unless it's Killer Crabs ... I got nothing. The closest was Clara Barton or Harriet Tubman. Since we have to be talking about actual leadership in battle they didn't fit.

 

Jeanne d'Arc is the closest out of the Civil War I suppose (yes I'm being pretentious with using her actual name).

Rainbow Dash, unlike Spitfire she wouldn't betray a member of her team for short-term benefits and has shown that she knows when not to be too reckless and value her allies, but she's not afraid to be brutal when the situation calls for it.

 

Shining Armor is a close second.

I don't know... I am tied between Rainbow Dash and Applejack. Rainbow Dash cuz' she is strong, fearless, and fast! Applejack cuz' she is strong.

Twilight would definitely be the best coordinating General in a major war.  She would probably be a really good tactician, made better by the fact that she's gotten around Equestria and arguably knows more about it than Celestia herself.

Spitfire doesn't have Twilight's knowledge, so I'd say Twilight.

Here's what I think.....

 

Fluttershy- If she could turn on the mean flutterhulk side of her, she would make an awesome general with a compassionate side to her comrades. Plus she fairly brainy

 

Rarity- Not to sure about this one. She'd be compassionate I guess but she wouldn't make the best of generals.

 

Rainbow dash- Yep obvious one here. She would make a very good general being the barking orders type.

 

Pinkie pie- Can be agressive and obviously has her pinkie pie cannon but is very.....eccentric. May not take things seriously when she needs to.

 

Twilight Sparkle-She's got the brains, leadership, she's a princess and has the alicorn. She fits the general type almost perfectly. But, she hasn't got the rainbow dash agression she needs.

 

Applejack- she'd actually make a pretty good general as she's got the general quality and is fairly intelligent.

 

 

 

So in the end it would have to be twilight sparkle. She'd be able to go to battle on any terrian, she's be able to think up good stratigies, has natural leadership qualities and she'd be listened to as she is a princess. Twilight army FTW!

On a more serious note: Discord.  Because he is Discord,and can basically do whatever the hell he wants. The conflict would be over before it began making him the perfect military commander.
