Is Trixie a genius?

@@ghostfacekiller39,

Trixie was definitely whining when she was getting upset over Twilight upstaging her, which in the end, the root problem here is that she's jealous. We know this because if it was a matter of fame, she could have used the Alicorn Amulet for shows and not for revenge. But nope, she felt the need to show up Twilight because her ego was bruised.

Trixie is definitely not a genius.  Her magic level is solely based on impressing other ponies but  I don't think she is able to perform any "useful" magic like Twilight is if you see what I mean.

Besides, if you were a genius (like me), you would probably know better than to lie to other ponies (with the Ursa Minor) and you would probably find a better way to spend your time than on a simple travelling show.

In "Magic Duel?" That's the only time I can think of anything remotely close, but she was having her home destroyed by other people, she was laughed at and mocked everywhere she went, and went from performing shows to doing peasant work just to survive. I think it's a lot deeper than just "Twilight upstaged her."

We know this because if it was a matter of fame, she could have used the Alicorn Amulet for shows and not for revenge.

Twilight inadvertently ruined her life, and Trixie was a confused mare at the time. Of course she wanted revenge - think of it like this:

Trixie's life post-Boast Busters is represented by the Dominoes that are falling, the board attached to the machine that knocks over the dominoes is Twilight, and the machine propelling the board forward is the events of "Boast Busters."

Was the Board responsible for knocking over the dominoes? Only the first one in the line.

Was it responsible for everything after that? Indirectly. Had it not knocked over the first domino, none of the other ones would've fallen in line, but it only was directly responsible for the first one.

Could it have avoided it while attached to the machine, though? Nope. Not a chance.

Same applies with Trixie and Twilight in Boast Busters. Was Twilight responsible for knocking the first domino of Trixie's life down? Yes. (Let me add she couldn't have had the slightest clue about everything that would've happened afterwards, though.) Did she set the rest of her downward spiral in motion with the events of Boast Busters? Yes.

Could it have been avoided? Unless she was going to put a whole town's life at risk, it couldn't have been avoided.

Trixie likely didn't take that into consideration and just saw it as Twilight having knocked down the first domino in her life that led to all the other ones falling down as well - blaming the board when the machine was responsible.

Her life was in turmoil, though - all the dominoes were falling down. Even the most intelligent ponies - and people - can get flustered and make poor judgements, and that's clearly what happened here, and therefore is not a result of a lack of intelligence but it's because of the fact that her life was falling down around her and she was unable to deal with it in a proper manner. Very few people can remain composed when their livelihood falls down around them.

It's not because of a lack of intelligence at all. It's because she's only made out of blood, flesh and bone, like every other pony, and wasn't strong enough to remain rational under the great amount of emotional stress she was in.

Peasant work doesn't get you enough bits to bribe someone into giving you a dangerous artifact.

Or, you know, she's just an arrogant prick and can't stand someone being better than her? Has about as much basis as your sob story for her

1. There's an obvious time gap between Boast Busters and Magic Duel Spanning nearly 2 seasons. That's a long time,  enough to earn quite a bit of coin working even the lowest wages out there.

2. Where's the bribing? She doesn't even talk  She just shows him the money and he sells it to her.

Not really. Why is she an arrogant prick? You haven't provided the least amount of speculation or anything to back your argument up. It doesn't have a basis, it's complete conjecture.

Gotta prove it, man. You can't just say something and then expect it to fly in a debate, you need to back it up with, at the least, a bit of personal speculation other than just "she's a prick" because that's not doing anything at all to provide a base for your conjecture.

I wonder where she got that money, she can't earn that much only with her job. :wat:

She was exaggerating about her financial problems is the easiest answer

Again, proof. I see nothing to support this statement whatsoever, you're just throwing around accusations

She is not only arrogant, a liar, a coward, but also a thief.

Definitely not what I would call a genius.

Besides, I see that some people said that Twilight ruined her life. But that is wrong. She ruined her life herself.  None of this would have happened if she did not lie about that Ursa Minor in the first place.

I did. What do you think that entire huge post just upwards a bit? Stuff supporting my side of the argument. :please:

Please refrain from throwing around accusations based off of something that has no base. Why do you think that? What makes you feel that way? What's the whole reason behind you saying that? A simple sentence saying "I don't like her she's a prick" is hardly doing that, especially as compared to providing a comparison of the domino effect that led Trixie into making poor judgements and why she likely blamed Twilight for it all.

I wouldn't say she's a genius either, and I think most of everybody is of the opinion that her current troubles are at least partly due to her own arrogance and cockiness, but this is coming off as a bit angry, like she's reminding you of someone you don't like in real life. She's no more an idiot than Rainbow Dash, who also dropped out of school, maybe even out of a similar notion that she doesn't need to learn anything to become better.

Anywho, to stay on topic, no, she isn't a genius, but she does have considerable talent. Just not raw, unspecific talent like Twilight. A lot of this is based on speculation, as we haven't had an episode that really explores her character or why she chose the life she did after being accepted into the prestigious magic school in Equestria only to drop out, but a possible theory I have is that she felt inadequate, seeing how her magic is based around stagecraft and illusion while her peers were simply more skilled in traditional magic. Maybe she hit the road in an attempt to gain recognition for her unique abilities, only to get caught up in her stage persona when she saw that people thought she really was great and powerful.

I think the ease of the age spell is a byproduct of the amulet, though.

@@CITRUS KING46,

No, what annoys me is her fanbase which coddles her contantly. It's as bad as the Luna fanboys. This doesn't apply to all, but it's annoying

She probably didn't expect a bunch of kids to actually go fetch an Ursa Minor.

And of course Twilight didn't "ruin her life." But the show flat out, conclusively shows that what happened in Ponyville had a negative affect on Trixie's life, and it isn't hard to imagine that in her frustration and confusion, she pinned her woes on Twilight, the one who "upstaged her."

That doesn't make her an idiot or evil, that just makes her human. Er, pony.

She's unbelievably overrated. It leads to me hating them in an attempt to recticfy that. Something like Broly from DBZ or Luna

And your argument just lost all weight and credibility. We're judging the character's level of skill in magic, not how much her fanbase annoys people.

Oh, I won't deny she's more powerful than someone like Rarity and is probably above average.

Really?  Cause the whole time you've been in this topic, all you've done is talk about how weak, foolish and stupid she is.

Compared to the image people paint her out to be, she is. But no, most unicorns in Equestria don't do anything, so I suppose Trixie is something like a regional champion or what not.

Also, stupidity has nothing to do with power, in that respect, she's a moron

Alright that's enough. If you can't have a civil discussion without it turning into a heated argument then Im forced to lock the thread. In the future guys, try to stay on topic and not devolve a discussion into an argument.
