Azureth 687 August 22, 2014 Share August 22, 2014 From Nightmare Moon to Discord, to Chrysallis, to Sombra to Tirek. If each of them were to come to our world could we mount an effective defense, or are TEOH and RP needed?

silvadel 1,393 August 22, 2014 Share August 22, 2014 Tirek would have a real problem. Try siphoning off human magic, just try it. Sombra? He might end up a minor functionary in some despotic country somewhere. Chrysalis? There would definitely be a place for her in the government. She and her changelings would be a part of the government really quick. Discord? He'd just have a ton of fun. Nightmare Moon? What do you mean people are awake at night almost as much as during the day? People actually enjoy the night? Arrrggghhh, what happened? Hello Luna. 3 Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight. Overdrive 5,366 August 22, 2014 Share August 22, 2014 Depends on who's president. Obama would take the appropriate actions, but take a long time to get anything accomplished. G.W. would run and hide like a coward, then have someone else deal with it. Clinton would be too "busy" to deal with it. And Reagan would just shout at some inanimate object to do something. 1 "I'd rather trust and regret, than doubt and regret."

Zekromic 1,054 August 22, 2014 Share August 22, 2014 I dunno, due to his regenerating factor, Sombra might be the greatest threat to us. The others, yes, they will cause lots of damage and cost of human lives, but I don't expect the likes of Nightmare Moon, Tirek, Discord and specially Chrysalis to survive a surprise attack from a well placed shot from behind, not taking account if they survive the first barrage of automatic weapons, thinking we can't attack from a distance with supersonic and invisible projectiles

ThatOneComrade 1,092 August 22, 2014 Share August 22, 2014 Doesn't matter what we do, we would all die in a matter of hours. Discord can flip our buildings and machinery, make normally non-threatening animals very threatening, and I can assume he could turn our bullets into bubbles if he wanted to. Not to mention he'd spread even more discord than we already have, making it so our leaders stubbornly fight over which way we should handle the problem. Chrysalis could turn into our leaders and send nukes all over the place-- Heck, she wouldn't even need to. That's what the drones are for. Chrysalis and her drones would feast on our love! If any humans are to survive this mess, it'd be only to provide food for the hive once the rest of us are gone. Sombra could do his whole fog thing and immobilize divisions. He could make our transportation and weapons useless. Nightmare Moon could enter our forces' dreams and put them in a never-ending nightmare. She could destroy our moral and make us mentally incapable of seeing our own shadows. Not only that, she could make it so the night lasts forever and slowly kill us all. It's not just our crops-- we need sunlight to survive. Not to mention if the power goes out in everlasting night, those of us in big cities will have a hard time finding our way around (at least until we start a fire). I don't know about the other two. I guess Sombra could do his whole fog thing and immobilize divisions. He could make our transportation and weapons useless. Teirek... the guy sucks up magic, and I don't think we've got much of it. He'd be pretty useless. ....So yeah. We'd be screwed. href="/monthly_02_2014/post-8308-0-69609200-1393191794.png">
Subscriber Denim&Venöm 20,471 August 23, 2014 Subscriber Share August 23, 2014 -Tirek would be the easiest to kill if he even showed his face. No magic for him to gain strength from. A well trained human could probably kill him in unarmed combat. -Chrysalis can go either way depending on her strategy. If she uses an invade and conquer strategy to supplement her poor attempt at acting, she and her drones would get mopped up within a few days. Regular military units would sweep the drones w/ automatic fire and building to building searches. Jeep mounted turrets and helicopters would fill them with even more holes. Should they be stupid enough to cluster, surface to air missiles would toast them. And should they take an area, one neutron bomb will do the trick. On the flip-side, should she act smart, her changelings can enact mass hysteria, making people fear each other. Combat in a large city would make them perfect guerrilla fighters, w/ soldiers being unable to tell them from friendlies or civilians. It would be even worse if the changelings infiltrated military ranks, relaying info to the swarm and sabotaging operations from within, killing off the crucial cohesion a military needs to function. Then of course there's the part where they impersonate government officials and world leaders, enacting a long term strategy of subverting the human race. No telling how much power the Queen herself can gain from a human(s), so how much damage she'll do can vary wildly. -NMM can manipulate the moon. She could screw every navy and coastal military installation by manipulating the tides. If she were genocidal about things, she could just ram the moon into the earth, wiping out half the populace, starving the other half in nuclear winter, and radically altering the earths ecosystem. She'd more or less cause a mass extinction. Or she could just fight long term, eclipse the sun and starve out the planet of heat and energy over the span of 20 years, forcing humankind to flee underground and seek warmth from the earths core. The ability to effect the moon means she has an insane range when it comes to magic, so anything in sight is an easy target. Since she can generate enough force to move a celestial body, a few million soldiers, tanks, bombers, aircraft carriers or cities would be of little challenge. Pegasai have already been proven to fly incredibly fast. If Lightning Dust, Spitfire and RD are anything to go by, she can easily outrun any missile and all aircraft w/ the exception of a space shuttle. Her hooves are strong enough to cause enough force to shatter anything ranging from sandstone to diamond, depending on what the EoH were made of pre-activation. Doubtful Kevlar or tank armor can stop that. She can survive in space, so she'll be difficult to persue, and her ability to turn intangible would make her neigh impossible to bring down. Not to mention her ability to invade dreams, rob humans of rem sleep though horrific nightmares. If she did this to every human at once, she could kill off the entire race in under two weeks due to neural degradation. Even entering memories of world & military leaders could be a valuable means of reconnaissance and intel gathering. Humankind is more or less battling a god. Speaking of... -Discord. We'd be f##ked. The ability to flip personalities and turn friends to foes and rational beings to crazy would be the collapse of civilization. With Tireks aid, he crippled Equestria in less than a day, thanks to how fast he can get around. He can cause wild weather over various areas, weaponize the worlds animals against humanity, flip whole continents upside down, turn cities inside out, turn people into whatever the hell he wants. We're not even sure if he's really there, if what we see is a projection or an intangible embodiment, nor are we certain of the scope of his powers. He also can and probably does have, eyes in the back of his head, so sneak attacks probably wouldn't work, not that he'd ever show himself unless he wanted too. He'd appear, strike, then disappear. It's like fighting reality itself, something humankind hasn't, may never, and hopefully will never master. I touched upon this in the "Equestria doesn't have a military" thread. The reason it doesn't is that the gravity of the threats Equestria regularly faces and the means of countering it all via the EoH, Rainbow Keys or intervention of the sun god, all effectively render a conventional military and conventional warfare as a whole obsolete.

Hive King 2,001 August 24, 2014 Share August 24, 2014 Tirek is downright fucked due to lack of magic to eat Sombra is...meh. His mind magic is interesting, but a sniper can just blow his head off Chrysalis is a weakling and an idiot, her poor acting and sadism means she'll reveal herself too quick and get owned Nightmare Moon's blood lusted blasts were barely on par with an RPG, she'll be tough to take down, but she's not the god people say she is Discord is quite possibly the most overrated thing here. Is he powerful? Yes. Is he smart? No, he's dumber than rock. You could just tell him that if he's truly so powerful, to sniff a letter of anthrax(Discord is vulnerable to disease). Discord would accept because he's that big a dumbass. The biggest threat is probably Chrysalis due to infiltration, the others are either too weak or too stupid "Aren’t we the same? The Crimson Cross 7,533 August 24, 2014 Share August 24, 2014 Imprison them in someway no doubt, either that or it'd be flat out execution, maybe our world leaders would use the villains' powers for their own gain or find a way to harness the magic. It's just a guess, but I'd say it wouldn't end to well. I'd say Discord could be taken down easily, though catching him is another story. As for Sombra.. Hm.. Nah. If Spike can beat him, it'd be relatively easy I guess. Now with more added tea leaves! My fantastic signature made by Gone Airbourne

Hive King 2,001 August 24, 2014 Share August 24, 2014 Unfortunately, moving celestial bodies puts them high, and is consistent. That spheel about Discord has nothing to do with disease. I know it doesn't, what I mean was that if a Tatzlworm, a creature unable to tear through a big boulder, scares Discord, then he's not that strong. And as for the moving celestial bodies, again, Equestria must be some sort of super planet and the gravity must be screwed beyond belief because of their moving the celestia bodies around. If that were the case though, you'd think Twilight would have found that worth mentioning when she went to the human world. The celestial bodies feat means nothing when you realize that Trixie isn't worried about the princess's. Unless you are going to argue Trixie can also do that "Aren’t we the same? No, I meant him leaping into Twilight's arms and going "What in the world?!" It's fiction; it doesn't matter so much how it happens as the fact that it does. Superman takes the energy from the sun and converts into energy capable of destroying planets, when even hundreds of years of solar absorption from a human sized body wouldn't give you even town level capabilities. Green Lantern harnesses a concept into a weapon. Martian Manhunter can transform into things beyond his mass level. And that's an assumption based on quite a bit of things. We have no idea what would happen. If you are going to bring up lack of realism, then Celestia's sun feat means nothing because it's not meant to be this big thing. It's a staple in fiction. For example, Helios is weaker than Zeus, yet Helios moves the Sun and Zeus moves thunder clouds. Sun moving in fiction, unless specifically treated as such, is usually just a trope "Aren’t we the same? You know, aren’t you carrying the same mindset as I am?
