Favorite Under-Appreciated Bands/Groups/Artists

Let's face it, there are A LOT of musical artists out there. True, some are better than others, but the really great ones don't always get the recognition they deserve, sometimes even getting passed up for artists more interested in fame and money than making good music. That's what this topic is for, to share some of the under-appreciated musicians you've found over the years.

I'll start with one of my favorite artists I found during middle-school, VNV Nation: I've yet to find an artist that sounds anything like these guys, drawing influence from multiple genres. I've only met a handful of people in North America who've even heard of them, let alone appreciate their unique sound.

All genre's welcome, bony artists included. (Suggested 1 example per post)

Well, I could mention a whole slew of metal bands, but I'll go with a ska band; Streetlight Manifesto.

I could post so many, but most are hip-hop and most bronies don't dig it.

Here's the Black Keys, they're pretty dope. Been in love with this song since the first time I heard it.

Let's keep the ball rolling with another artist who, admittedly is at least somewhat well known in North America, Infected Mushroom

This is a group from Israel who's sound (according to a live-sound engineer I know) is inspired by the audio-hallucinations experienced when taking a magic mushroom that has been infected by a mold. Looking at that album artwork, it really wouldn't surprise me if that turned out to be true.

I was at a The Rock Shop on Granville Street with Spike a few months ago. I haven't ran into anybody yet that knows Iron Savior and their heavy rock group based overseas. I found out about them from a younger pony a few months after I joined the fandom when he gave me this song and said that he had been thinking about me that day and that song suddenly popped into his head. I still have the skype transcript with the youtube link and him actually apologizing about it... At any rate. This is the first song that got me into them given to me by the a member of the forum.

Another Infected Mushroom fan? I guess they are pretty well-known, but most people I mention them to have never heard the name.

They did this great collab with another favorite of mine, Savant. It's pretty sweet. Check him out as well if you haven't already.

If "unknown" counts as "underrated" then I present to you Hum Flying Bulletproof Noodle.

There are minimal videos on youtube, I would recommend searching mp3 downloads  soundcloud instead. my favorite is Mars

How about Zebrahead? Here's one of his awesome songs

Wow, that is a really cool song! I'll have to check out more of their stuff.

Allow me to respond with a rock group I found in middle school, Alexisonfire:

I can completely understand if some don't like them, but I haven't been able to let go of them for 10 years now.
