That's fine, did you own any games on the 2DS? Just out of curiosity!:scootangel:

Oh, of course! Plenty! My favorites being Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Super Mario Bros 2, and Disney Magical World!

My old 3DS’ battery expanded. Apparently those things can turn into ticking time bombs! Gave me quite a scare :wau:

Fortunately I got the battery removed and got a replacement and it worked fine. I almost got rid of the console though… glad I didn’t cause I would have lost my 300 hr save file of my favorite 3DS game (it just so had to be one of the “special” ones that saves to the SD card and not the cartridge)

I understand you, batteries usually tend to wear out and two years ago I replaced the battery in my 3ds xl with a new one but unfortunately recently between 2024 and 2025 even with the new battery the time and day shift randomly and the battery only lasts no more than 30 minutes. I think my 3ds xl is almost dead.

Could it be the battery causing the issue? Many third party ones are pretty crap unfortunately. I’d say possibly try a different brand

Not sure about the time and day shift though, that’s weird xD

I had to replace the battery on two New 3DS XL consoles (both mine and dad's) for the same reason. I've also found out that PSP batteries can also bloat, which happened to both of my PSP batteries too, so I'll have to order a replacement battery for that console soon. I'm amazed the all of my other Nintendo handhelds still have working batteries, including my original Game Boy Advance SP from 2003.

The time and day changes are caused by the battery being incorrectly positioned in the 3DS, which is why the day, time, and year are reset every now and then. However, the battery only lasted 30 minutes at most unless I kept the 3DS charged.

Ah I see, why is it incorrectly positioned? I had the owner of a local game shop replace mine for me, since I wasn’t sure how to do it myself

I bought a 3rd party Chinese battery for my 3DS and it’s working okay for the moment. But if it starts degrading I’ll probably shell out for a switch pro controller and have him harvest the battery from that one, since that’s the only way to get a Nintendo OEM battery atm that fits the 3DS. I believe the XL uses a different battery though

Yes, unfortunately it wasn't easy to install the battery manually. It doesn't matter anyway. I already have a Nintendo Switch 2.
