A poem-speaking pony? This is new.

What does he mean about "forging weapons for the greater good"? What is the "greater good"?

So apparently Clara is very important somehow. In her "soul-imbued wood" lies "power" that can "forge weapons for the greater good."

"What weapons? What greater good?" Lonk shouts back. "Are we all in some sort of conspiracy or something?"

Clara doesn't stop running. Whether this other pony keeps up, Lonk has no idea, but he's pretty sure he can't.

'I hope it isn't too bad.' "I felt slightly ill... when I awoke this morning. @@EQ_Theta,

"You are home, where it's safe."

Omen's voice entered his mind as she wandered slowly towards him, a half dozen eyes following her movement from the ever-changing darkness around them.

Though Sen would have only seen her home once, it were likely an image that had stuck some with him and would register eventually to him. Or... Perhaps it wouldn't completely, as something seemed different about it. Not the shades that never stopped moving for long, nor the curious voices in unknown languages that sometimes got spoken around them. It was more as if something was in the air. Something ominous.

"You fell when Lin found you. Then found me, and told me some things. Things she asked me to share with you Sen, along with this."

She held the trinket that she had been trusted towards Sen, not knowing exactly what would happen when he got it, but knowing that she had promised to hand it over when he woke up. Perhaps it were not the best place to do so, but she didn't think about that. Just the promise that she made, and the time she had to explain it in.

"Y-you met her?" Sen stammered and thought of the many ways the wards misdirected him. Maybe she might have stumbled in there with him and they were brought out of different exits. "I don't know where to begin. What did she say? Was she hurt?"

He noticed the trinket being handed back to him and while her whereabout are still unknown, Sen suspected Omen knew something withdrawn to him and while an interrogation might be in order, he was too confused and groggy to do so. The most he could do is to stand and wait for an answer.

"This is hers. Is there something I'm missing?" The trinket lit up and flashed an image of Lin, standing on the jewel and looking at the one using it. She looked like she knew she had to send a message, or so Sen thought.

'Sen, I know you have had many difficult years since you left. I'd love to see you again once more but now is not the time. Stay close to those who look out for you and you'll get by just fine. I'll join you again soon enough.'

The projection of Lin's message faded and Sen stared dumbfounded at the trinket, then to Omen unsure about what to think.

Honestly it were something she hadn't thought about at all and just made up on the fly, but it sounded plausible when she said it. Yet she wasn't the expert on sounds and such here, so really, might just be a load of nonsense she had let out and they'd go the route of feeding of negativity. Sen's eyes glowed blue again and him getting cut off was indicative of more than just the power Lin wielded. Sen may not always have conscious use of his own body but Lin's power clearly puts her in charge.

@@WhisperingDreams,

"Heeeeelp!"

The dual voice would break though the otherwise silent air in the deeper parts of the Everfree Forest.

If followed, the voice would turn out to belong to two ponies with their backs to a large slab of rock that stopped them from running further away from the Manticore who had chased them here, and now slowly moved closer with a growl.

The ponies were the same colour scheme of a base, vaguely shiny, deep onyx coat. Not simply black, but much like the universe if you looked up at a starless night. Their silvery manes were different styles but both had the theme of looking tussled right now from the chase, and their tails were simple, long styles. Really, they were more than likely sisters.

One of them were a regular earth pony though, whilst the other were a small pegasus that could really stand on her back. Yet, hard to say who were the oldest, though none of them were likely more than 24 at best. The earth pony as well must have some issue running as her left backleg seemed to be made out of wood, and she were missing her right eye - you could see the light bounce off the glass eye with ease - and the pegasus... Well, it were hard to see, but she seemed to be missing her left wing.

Regardless of that, they were currently both in the same amount of trouble, and they could really use some help.

She had been told the basics of things, but considering that even normal things took time for her to digest, this were a bit of a tall order and were going to haunt her mind for some time.

Still, she were supposed to help here with what she did know. Sen and Lin seemed to want any help they could get at least, so not having any real answers were likely not good. But what answer could she give that were going to help anything?

"...But we could try and ask Mother."

If were a long shot, as Mother didn't like to hang around the ones they brought through their home, but perhaps Mother would hear the pleas of the siblings since it were a family matter? Worst came to worst they would simply end up not finding her or be locked out of her small slice of this world, which would make them end up here again. Seemed like the only thing they'd waste here really then were time.

It was a little unspecific as though it could mean that the pony it belonged to could be a fast flyer able to create strong breezes with speed, it could also mean that the pony it belonged to simply realised he enjoyed flying in a breeze and found that this made his cutie mark appear.

It had just occurred to Lin that if there was such a thing as forbidden magics, then it must mean there is much more to discover, and a high price to pay for such knowledge. If such a thing were hidden, then some form of reversing such a mishap could be found in the lost arcane arts or from those who practice it in obscurity. But she had to be sure.

"YES!" Lin exclaimed but quickly reeled in her excitement.

"Uh. I mean, yes we should go see your mother about it. But is it possible? I've encountered tomes that delve into the nature of magic and that some forms of magic work well for some and don't for others. It's sort of like being compatible with the caster. From what I've gathered from the forbidden magic of the ancient longma, this form uses the inherent energies and essences of the caster and either channels it inward for rejuvenation, or outward to gain possession of others."

She stopped for a moment to gather her thoughts. Lin knew of one other aspect of the longma's magics that she only read in a very specific tome she encountered long ago. History knew something about it, or those who sought to educate those who succeeded them and it scared her. She felt like she had an obligation to let Omen know about it, given the possibility that things might grow worse.

"There was one other thing I remember reading. This form of magic has a destructive application not only to others, but also to the caster. The ancient ones knew they could channel their essence into an avatar and amplify their magic. Using it gave them power but at a price: they used their own life force to power their spells; the more they used it, the closer it drove them to ruin. The temptation to just use a little more is there."

The sound of muted hoofsteps carried across the debris ridden floor, the forest strangely quiet greatly worried a short grey pony.

Her thick black mane rested against her shoulders, the ice blue highlights darkened by the dancing shadows. Her bright golden eyes were narrowed and her dusty blue wings drawn against her sides.

"HEEEEELP" the cry ripped through the air, startling Night Frost. She looked around frantically before leaping into the air and following the sound of the scream, her furry bat ears swivelled trying to trace where it came from.

Hurry! Night thought desperately. The twin cry was so scared...so full of fear. That was when the grey bat pony spotted them huddled, backed against a rock while a manticore bigger than normal slowly advanced.

She landed smack bang between the ponies and the manticore, her tail swished and she took on a defensive stance. "What. Do. You. Think. You're. Doing. To. These. Ponies!?" She said, her voice dangerously low.

The manticore halted, unsure before shaking its head and stepping closer.

'I said what do you think your doing!" She repeated her eyes narrowing. The great lumbering beast whimpered and stepped back, it let out a rumbled growl

"the ponies invaded my home, it not my fault!"

"Let them go and I'll make sure they stay away," Night answered her pose relaxing. The manticore let out a final whimper before fleeing into the brush. Night turned to the two ponies

The doctor explained the simpler things as he went over and took the thermometer out of Cyan's mouth to check, seeing a small increase in temperature as expected. Didn't narrow the field down much though, but every bit helped when it went into determining an illness.

The doctor wasn't the only one making observations however. Like he were examining Cyan, so were Happy examining him, just less obviously, and with more of a predatory satisfaction in his mind than the doctor likely had. How could he not really, as he had already found a good one to impersonate if time came to it.

Ponies that were overly loveable and outspoken tended to be problematic to hit right for spies in his experience, but professionals like this who did the job first and had a seemingly emotional detachment to things/kept his cool? Easy ones, as long as they could drain some basic, medical knowledge to use at the same time. Heck, with a little prep time, Happy could make a convincing copy, and he were not exactly good at the medical jargon.

Still, he could learn a few things here and there. just like know when he saw the doctor take out a small specimen jar, take on a long rubber sock for his right leg, hand the jar with said hoof to Cyan and ask her more with the sort of face that shown he had done this for perhaps too long: "Could you coff in this please?"

Seemed like a breeze, which were a little unspecified, but it likely meant he were capable at doing something related to the weather ponies, or he were a fast flyer. There were other things too, of course, like his talents were to breeze through life, but that seemed vaguer, so he'd go with the other two for now.

"Interesting. Depending on what it signifies, perhaps the local weather pegasi or mail carriers would be a place to start."

He'd like to elaborate more, but as they crossed a corner they finally got the first, truly good view of Twilight's castle, where it were not just this looming, glittering shape over the town. They still had a bit of way to go before they'd be close enough to see the big, crystal tree in great details, but it were getting closer, and the buildings and such in the branches were getting easier to make out, as were the seemingly open windows.

The last part were a focus for Stargazer as he thought about the security risk in having that easy access to the castle might be an issue, but it were just one of the things he'd have to bring up when he eventually would meet the princess. Likely it wasn't an actual problem and some magic protected the castle, but might also be the new princess were too trusting of others and simply didn't think it needed. A good thought all in all, but unfortunately, not everypony were as good as one might hope.

"Magic that use life? Sounds dangerous."

Omen wasn't exactly clear how long a pony lived, but all things considered it were likely not That long, so using your life there seemed like a bad thing, even if it made you stronger. But then again, were the power worth it? Depended on things she supposed, but when you only had little time in the world, was there really many good reasons to use some of it like this? And were it only the big spells when the avatar were used? Or were it in general?

"Does it always use life? Or only when it's with great power? Like fuel to a flame?"

Whilst speaking, Omen had started to walk and a calm, simple, grey road would form a few meters both ahead and behind her where they could wander without being taken in by the usually never-settling shades that flowed around them. Like wandering in fog they would find more road getting visible as they went on, and less behind them, but Omen wasn't able to handle more than this on her own when it had to be secure and unmoving in any capacity, and they would have to make due with what little she could manage here.

When your siblings counted in the thousands and they all played with random shapes around them or simply flowed through the realm, it were hard to get much of it to control for the individual. Some would, and they could do well enough with that, but generally more were made when more flocked and they gathered their minds around moulding things. Such as the few seconds when Sen had first come here and the mountains of siblings stood still around, looking at the strange things he did with almost a held breath.

@@WhisperingDreams,

The two ponies just stood there with open mouths and jaws almost hitting the ground when the bat pony asked if they were alright, still not believing what they had just seen.

"Y-you just... How did you..?"

The smaller pegasi started to speak first. Her voice carried shock and a few strains of fear still from how close they got to becoming snacks for the manicore that had chased them here, which really shouldn't be surprising considering that was how things would have went more than likely if the bat pony had shown up to save their hides.

Suddenly, she seemed to get more alive in it though and jump down from the back of her sister, trying to lounge forward with tears in her eyes and whimpering "Thanktyouthankyouthankyouthankyou." over and and over again, though she were stopped in her tracks by her sister managing to swing a hoof around her and holding her back.

"Control yourself sis. W-We can't just do this, and you know that."

The larger of them seemed to be a little more under control with her feelings, though the look she sent the bat pony told well of her inner want to join her sister instead, even if something held her back. it seemed to be a fear too from the looks of things and the pleading tone in her voice, but as the pegasi calmed a little down and wriggled free to stand besides her sister, it wasn't specified what it might be. Could be just the aftermath and the adrenaline rush.

For now though, the two both bowed deeply before their saviour, replying to the bat pony mare in unison: "Thank you for saving our lives." though they didn't go into the stereotypical twin talk afterwards where they seemed to know each others words in advance to creep others out. Instead, the earthen mare lifted her head and looked at Night with a worried look in her eye.

"We have so many questions about how you did that, but... I-I guess from the sound of things, we're not completely out of the fire yet."

This might be what she feared. That Night actually were very dangerous, and they had just traded one threat in for another. Not like the two of them had ever seen a bat pony tame a huge manticore like that before anyway... or even a bat pony in general really, and the first impression they now had were a little terrifying.

Rapid Wind took on what Stargazer said after he thought about it for a bit, though he had greatly lost confidence in flight during a event that happened years ago, being part of the weather team or mail delivery team did not necessarily mean fast or dangerous flight techniques or very fast speeds. Still, the mail delivery option did sound the safer of the two as he judged being part of the weather team might occasionally call upon speed or dangerous manoeuvres to control clouds and storms. However, his lack of confidence in flight meant he wouldn't turn down a job that some ponies would consider more appropriate for Earth ponies. He began to think, he still had power enough in his back legs from constant trotting and keeping himself in good physical shape that knocking apples off trees shouldn't prove too difficult. However, he feared he would have to face his lack in confidence in flight sooner rather than later.

Only after this thinking session did Rapid Wind actually pay attention that he could see Twilight's castle beginning to appear and he to admit he was already impressed and he actually admired he could stand on the ground and admire it than view it from the air.

He was no brute, not in this thing, his tools were resilience and taunting, in some way or another, as he cut the rockets and dropped like a rock as the now-severed arm flew at where he was. But, he noticed with annoyance as he saw another pony get slammed by a flailing arm, not enough. He flew to the side, a fat mosquito, and dove at it again, crackling electricity, trying to make himself as annoying as he could, as the directed a blast of noise - a cacophonic mix of child screaming, broken drill and nails-on-chalkboard at what what he assumed its head was.

@@WhisperingDreams,

The two ponies stood and swayed back and forth between trying to get closer when things sounded good, and taking a few steps backwards when the mare's outburst got aggressive. Eventually though, she seemed to calm down and smile a little, which hopefully meant that it were safe to move a little closer and speak.

It ended up being the smaller one who went in first, which wasn't unusual for most of these things. Though her sister were bigger, she were also more nervous and not that quick to get in close with other ponies, much less other kinds that they had never met before, such as this bat pony.

Sure, they knew that bat ponies were still equines, but they were not exactly the same as say, a pegasi, which were the closest comparison between them. They often times seemed stronger and could contain some degree of magic, and especially the last part were something that made them nervous for ever meeting one, but it seemed it wasn't as bad as they had feared. Some stories had gone out about their nightly cousins being made of more or less pure magic, which... Really wouldn't have ended well.

"We weren't supposed to go here. We were trying to get to Canterlot, but then we got lost and then tried to see if we could find a local town where we could get some directions."

The somewhat energetic and up-beat tone of the one-winged pegasi seemed to be an ingrained thing as she didn't look that happy but more concerned for now, yet she were trying to answer what had been tossed at them at least. They owed this one at least that much.

"We're not local so we didn't know this forest was dangerous. We just went through and accidentally found a clearing where that huge... Thing, suddenly came out and started chasing us until you showed up and saved our flanks."

She cast a short glance back at her sister after mentioning the manticore and got a sort of half-awkward, drawn out *yeeeah...* look over her face, which scarcely tended to end well.

"And unfortunately, we have to go back to the clearing. It sorta made us drop some things that is gonna make a whole lot more damage just laying around than we can have on us. If anypony ends up finding those-"

"-W-We're going to be in so much trouble..."

Her sister finished the sentence, then slowly moved forward and joined her sister in standing nearer the bat pony, though her nervous and moody tone fitted well with the face she had up, which were essentially just that.

"Do you think you can help us get back there? We're just going to pick up our stuff and then we're gone, promise you that. We're not sticking around that place after the last experience."

@@Moonlit,

"Ookie-dookie."

Ziggy weren't sure What Serenade was going to do as part of the whole *feeding* thing with the critter, but she knew that whatever it entailed, it were better she left it to her. It was like with sick ponies really, in that if there came a problem, you left them to somepony who knew what they were doing, and Ziggy sure didn't.

So she flew up, and started to fly around at a solid height to get a good overview, going more or less in a circle to be sure that the little piece of forest they were in wasn't getting more visitors, whilst Fah'lina was left in the capable hooves of Serenade to be... Fed upon? Frankly sounded strange, but it Were what were going on really far as she knew, so... Yeah, perhaps just not thinking too much on the details would be a good thing.

As for the mimic in question... Well, what were going to happen would depend on Serenade. The little thing were smart, but after this she'd likely act per instinct first. So depending on the sirens methods she would likely either slowly get cracking again and appear groggy, or go less peaceful and suddenly jolt back to life, then run into the lake. Or perhaps a third option? They'd see what it'd be when Serenade were done.

(Means you decide what happens. Free reigns with the critter. :3 )

@@Rapid Wind,

"...I hope she's worth it."

Stargazer half-mumbled the words to himself before letting out a small sigh and pick up the pace towards the castle a small bit.

Usually he didn't complain much about things, but considering how much he had left behind to come here and assist the new princess on behalf of Luna, he really hoped that she were right in this one being worth the effort. Something which he didn't know himself as he had still not seen her, and only heard the stories, and he didn't trust stories enough to base his impression of the new princess on that. Stories tended to be exaggerated or twisted too much the longer they were told.

"Impressive building, yes?"

@@EQ_Theta,

"We live here only until we find a master. After that, Mother wishes for us to leave and find new homes. Not that there is much that keeps us there after getting a form though. We can't blend with things after that like them, but we sometimes return. To see them. To talk with them.

To make sure we never forget family, just like Mother tells us."

Omen looked around, seeing the gooey masses of her siblings flow through the landscape and sometimes poking a makeshift head up to see closer on the their sister and the longma that followed her.

"We don't know about how it works here though. Master asked me once, but only Mother knows, and she says it's better we just know this is home, and that we're safe here. We trust her words, so we live, we wait, and we play."

@blitz boom

"Clearing?' Night tilted her head a bit, thinking. There weren't many clearings in the everfree but they weren't non-existent. If she could take them to the clearing and then to Ponyville they could safely journey to canterlot.

"Do you know the general direction you came from? I can lead you there and then to a village close to this forest called Ponyville. From there you can board a train straight to Canterlot," Night was quite suprised that they didn't know about the everfree forest guess it wasn't as well known as she thought... "Oh yeah and that 'thing' that chased you is called a manticore, they're pretty common here."

Night suddenly ruffled her wings in embarrassment, "oh um my names Night Frost btw."
