With these newest notes added to the page, "I'll see if I can set up an appointment for you to talk with Tussle.  I'm not sure she and The Captain are back from Canterlot yet.  They had to report the results of the recent attack on Manehatten to the Princesses.

"An attack? Grizzly affair that must have been. And certainly something I understand the need to report on, though it must have been quite the attack, if the princesses are required. In Center Zero, the few times we had to deal with reporting crimes, it were done directly towards the Solar Guards. I can't imagine it must have been something minor, if it is mentioned directly to the princesses. And considering your agency, I am also assuming that a hefty amount of magic were involved, yes? Troubling affairs that must've been. Though judging by tone and how the town looks, I am assuming you were ultimately victorious, so that's good.

Ah, but yes, I can wait. I may not have been one of the true loyalists from back home, but I still hold great respect for the princesses, and understand there is quite a bit of priority to be considered in regards to these matters. Besides, I am not in a large amount of hurry. I came to this area with intent to stay for a while as it were, so this changes little. Except for me sharing where one may find me generally, of course. If you could write the following down please-"

Magma would give precise map coordinates for a cave, just outside of the city, along with detailed information about the surrounding area. That mainly meaning that all plant life within a few meters of the cave entrance, had been scorched, and a rickety door were put up to cover the entrance. She could not say that she had waken up thus far, in a pool of lava, and with everything around her burning or melting, but that did not mean that she so far were willing to take risks.

"If I am not in town, I will mostly be there. If you cannot find me however, just put a note when you'd like to talk, and I will wait around, or come to you, at the given time. And please do excuse the sulfuric smell you may encounter near my current home. It is a byproduct of a few experiments I am running, which have thus far proven to stick around quite a bit."

It was hard to tell, he blinked at least.  Ultimately he nodded with a grunt.  "He said his place was here, but thank you" Flare translated.  If they were done in the basement, the cowboy offered to lead Magma back upstairs to conclude their case and where Starbright could get Magma set up for an appointment to meet Tussle.  He looked forward to seeing what kind of material she might bring back for a better shield charm.

"I agree. You have great need of a stallion of his talents, and it were not as if it were an open invitation. Center Zero is not active currently. It underwent a recent attack by an unknown force, and are being thoroughly investigated for clues, so that the guards may hopefully find out what happened there. Maybe even find currently missing survivors, though with how long it have been, I do not consider it likely.

In time, I am sure the town will emerge again though. The structures and varied equipment are still there, and our work are likely being sent around to other researchers, judging by how they were missing from the main library, so our legacy are still intact. In due time, the area will be cleared, better wards and permanent guards are likely to be added, and the town will reopen, with the chorus of fresh new scientists, archeologists, inventors, and so forth.

I am yet undecided that if such a time comes, I will rejoin them, but I am tentatively thinking that I do. It will still be years, which leaves plenty of time to think it over, but I do miss the work. It's just not the same to be without a proper lab."

Regardless, Magma would follow them upstairs, and make a proper appointment for when she could meet with Tussle. If there were more they wished to discuss with her, she'd remain and do so, as she did not have anything else to really do. If not however, she would be on her way back home, that she may get more of her bits, so that she could go out and properly seek out a better alternative to her current charm. She did not think there were a jeweler with this precise thing anywhere, but it were worth a shot. And if not that, she could start at a blacksmith. if she could get the raw materials, maybe she could order something that way.

"Most are more amazed than anything.  We scooped him up into the O.M.I. faster than a Sonic Rainboom," Cork chuckled, being one of the first members present when Rising was recruited by Minty.  "Much from Harrowmark will frighten Equestria.  We aren't use to a lot of the things you see on the daily.  Equestria will do that for Harrowmark as well.  Not everything has to be scary to make one feel lost of displaced."

"I dunno what a Sonic Rainboom is, but I can totally see why you'd pick him up. Seeing and manipulating magic is crazy powerful, since the biggest and baddest stuff usually use magic. Messing that up can really get an advantage no others had. Trained right, used right, and you have a really good defender to work with there. Just like if it were used by someone bad, you'd have a big menace to deal with. Good that you turned out to be a boon instead, Rising.

Also good to hear others haven't been weird around you, because of what you can. In Harrowmark, you'd probably have been shipped straight to the capitol, and been tested lots of times, if you had been found out. Then probably kept hidden, and had a similar corpse  placed somewhere, to make Twisted think you were dead, and risen up in some shadowy corner of the castle, until you could fight him.

I mean, I'd get it, but it's probably good you were here, and tracked down by some who could see you as more than a potential weapon. It would probably have made you a bit wonky.

And I totally get you too, with Harrowmark being scary for you folks. This place is so opposite my home, that it is honestly daunting. It's just so... Light, and innocent looking.

It wasn't always that bad in harromark, you know. My family had some old tomes, from before Twisted, and it talks of a better balance in things. Less darkness, and more balance in life, death, and undeath. Still a lot of dark and death-based magic, but the way the tomes talked about it, it sounded like it were still a lot safer, and less folks went crazy out in the swamps. Twisted really messed that all up royally...

*sigh* But, no need to focus o that anymore. Time and worship is gonna even things. Few generations, and maybe things are what they used to be again. Right here and now though, I'd probably not let just anyone from this place go there. No offense to Equestria of course, but most I saw out there, kinda looks like they'd freeze in place if they saw even one revenant. And that's not smart to do there. Probably only let those through with spine, some weapons, and company. Harrowmark have a way of getting to you, if you're alone."

Rising should get what Grave were on about. It was the same darkness gnawing at the edge of one's mind, that he had felt out in the swamp. Something that he, and most others, had kept at bay, in their own ways. For those in Harrowmark itself, it were mainly through company, as it were less effective if you had others to lean on. The hermits and exiles though, more often than not, fell into insanity and malice, due to this darkness. How quite a few wilderness witches came to be these days.

On 12/5/2020 at 1:15 PM, Rising Dusk said:

"I haven't seen a Ghost yet, but my best guess is that I wouldn't see them any differently than any other pony.  I'd only see the necrotic magics that invoked, empowered or shackled them, and even then, just the spell itself.  If a Ghost used magic, I'd probably be able to see that," Rising mused.  Thistle could use magic, so it wasn't too much of a leap to think ghosts could as well.  A strong spirit might be able to wield the magics of their gods, necrotic or soul magics.  Harrowmark was still full of mysteries to the detective.

"Oh, ghosts can totally use magic.

There's the classic ones, like poltergeists, that get a lot of psychokinetic energy going with them, but there are also just actual magic users there. I dunno if yours can do that as much, but at least where I'm from, if you could use magic in life, so to can you in death. Sometimes it even gets stronger, since there's less restrictions, but I dunno the details. I just heard mom say that about it once, and it even sounds like she were guessing too, as to why some were better at magic after they had died.

I personally just figure it's something to do with the energy of the land animating you again, so maybe you just get more of that energy to work with, and that's the reason? Just a guess anyway. Magic can be sorta weird when it's not directed, but just happens naturally.

Oh! Oh! Now that we talk about magic, I had a thought ! That mirror from before, that I came through, right? Maybe we should bring it here, and you could see if the magic were familiar? The ones who made the connection I took advantage off, seemed like they were tracking you, so that's probably important, yes? I can go get it right away if you want. I promise, I can lift it, and lots more too. Get it here all safe and snuggly, so you can figure out if someone bad is trying to track you down, and seek revenge for Twisted.

Don't think that just because he's gone, everyone's happy. He had his loyalists, that's gonna lose all that working for him gave them. They're gonna be furious."

Grave jumped in place, happy as a clam, with a big grin on her pale face. Now she knew a way she could be helpful right away, and maybe help Rising too, which were doubly good! Toda were justgetting better and better.

...Hopefully she did not just jinx it.

"Kitsune."

"Ah, that explains it. Lemme guess, a school class? They like going out in the world and teaching their kits up close and personal, but neutralize threats for a time, to get a good study in. Since I'm smaller, and can use magic, they have some sort of fascination with me. This is the fifteenth time thus far, that I've been made part of one of their lessons, in the last century.

Frankly I'd prefer if they just went ahead and asked if I were okay with it. They're pretty harmless, unless you try to harm their kits, and I don't mind teaching others a few things. The forced sleep just makes it annoying, but they tend to vanish before I get a chance to say a whole lot. Few who sticks around, never gets back to me, so I don't know if the offer gets passed on."

Leviathan really didn't have much against kitsune. A bit annoying and teasing at times, but they were rarely out to harm others. They just liked having their fun, and if not that, educate their young. She considered it pointless to have grudges, or waste hatred, on beings like that.

10 hours ago, Catpone Cerberus said:

"And yes, I did just fly off, nobody died this time." she didn't seem too happy about it "And as much as I hate to admit it, he fooled me for a moment, it seems I have gotten sloppy¨during my time in Equestria." "He also seemed to have a interest in you specifically, since the fake-you lead us out of his illusions almost directly." "From looks of it you were being used to teach his young about dragons."

So she were right. A class indeed. Pretty much what she expected, and thankfully, no one were hurt. Not the kitsune, not any of them, and probably not any of the wildlife. She at least couldn't smell a forest melting right now, so this were probably the most positive way it could have ended. Despite Ruby clearly not thinking that were a good outcome.

"Don't beat yourself up over it, Ruby. The kitsune have had generations upon generations to perfect fooling others, and they make sure to pass the knowledge on. Anyone would've been tricked by them.

And they probably took me since I looked safer to deal with. You're pretty big, and could clearly do considerable harm, if given the chance. So either Charir or me were easier to work with. I'm guessing they picked me over him, since they have no idea what he is saying, so they couldn't try and sell the act as easily. Or it were because I fell into the hole. It's hard to say.

Just gonna look at this in a positive way. We weren't dealing with dragon hunters, but just a class expedition, and you thankfully didn't hurt a kit, so they're probably going to leave us alone for a long while.

Trust me, you do not want to hurt their kits. Kitsune might seem happy and jovial, but they are intensely vengeful, towards anyone hurting their kind. If it were an adult who did something dumb, then that's on them. They can get past that. But one of their kits? I've seen the aftermath of what happens once they track down one who did that, and quite frankly, it's pure insanity.

*yawn* But that's what that is. We're safe, you seem to move better, and Charir appears to have found himself a treasure. Today's not all bad."

Leviathan would give off a smile towards the two of them, and get up to stretch out properly. And if Ruby tried testing her again, by blowing more fire on her, Leviathan would grunt in surprise, and ask what she did that for. This were the real her alright.

"Hey, it's practical to have too, if it storms, right? A roof over the head then means you can be snuggly and sleepy in the lake. Serenade does that sometimes.

But but, you could totally have a siren and guest house. Big lake, bit of things you'd need around, and then guest rooms on the top floor for visitors. Maybe even a tank down here for special fishies? That's be pretty."

"Well, practical at least, since not all sorts of water life can live in the sort of water that's in our lakes. Sea creatures would need saltwater at least, but one thing at a time here. We first gotta have them accept her, then figure out someone to build a home. Everything at it's own time there, doc."

"Awh, okay. Anyway, I'm gonna handle the washing up. Can't have this place all gritty and full of dirt."

Before anyone could say something, Ziggy would've gotten off fromt he table, and zoomed into the kitchen, where she'd start washing up some plates, and preparing the bags and such that had to be thrown out in the trash afterwards.

"Well, guess that's it being sorted then.

So Nada, mind me asking something? Until the day comes when the princesses calls in, what're you planning to do? Just sorta loiter around, and wait for the day to come by, or is there some sort of plan you're working on? Not saying you have to, just wondering if there's more to it, y'know? Have to to do something to get through the day, and if you have no plans, maybe we could think of something."

@Catpone Cerberus

"A wise course of action, I would say. Perhaps I could assist in some way though, by changing the coloration of some of the fauna near their town, to better match yours? I have meant to wander there myself too, at some point, so it would not be much of an issue to change things marginally like this.

Though in any case, your plan holds merit, and I pray that it will hold positive results. Long as Crow remembers to keep hold of you. Though I feel you two are connected in some way, and understand one another well, so it would not be much of a concern."

Crow cawed, and remained in his current position, whilst nodding. It were well aware what'd happen, if it were not connected to Scarecrow right now, which would be something remember, whenever they were near others. A fortunate thing then, that he weren't an actual bird brain, and would be able to retain things such as this. Though he could do with a chalk board around the neck, so he had the chance to communicate with others via writing that way at some point, without having to go to the ground and use lines in the dirt.

However, there would not be much of a chance to think through this, as almost as if the forest timed it, a shout for help would echo through the forest. It were somewhere to their east, quite a bit away, and since the last thing heard were an interrupted cry to  stop with something, it did not sound as if there were much time to work with.

If they followed the sound, they'd eventually find something alright. A griffon laying on the ground, petrified in a stance that seemed to indicate that she had tried to shield her eyes from something, but unfortunately not fast enough.

A thick line in the dirt seemed to show that something had slithered away from the area recently too, though there were no other trace, beyond that. Not beyond a singular, chicken-like feather, stuck on a nearby bush.

@EQ_Theta

"If we find him, I can always find him, and I want to help."

Omen's logic in this, were mostly based around trying to help, rather than thinking she could find him all that easily herself. She could make sure that he did not vanish though, if they found him once.  That might be good for something, yes?

As for the episode with the gate... While some found it entertaining, and most wandered off quickly, Maryinstead wandered closer to Omen, and poked the odd mare.

"What were that?"

Omen turned her gaze down towards the filly, who stared with wonder into Omen's pale, curious eyes. Of course one couldn't see that, due to the veil on her face, but her joyous little smile were still plenty visible.

"Home."

"That were your home?"

A mare's voice came out from the crowd, and if they looked, they'd find the talker simply standing there, with eyes filled with the same sort of wonder Mary had.

This one wore a few small bird cages down her side, with chains going over her back, and then secured around a few hooks, which were stuck into the design of a parchment-yellow saddlebag. Her mane were long and white, with black tips, going down over her face and covering her left eye, while the right, green eye were visible, and currently glancing them over.

Her coat were white, with a black layer of puffy fur on her chest, which made her kinda look like a bird showing off. Her tail had the same coloration as her mane, and like the mane, were clearly maintained well, due to the shiny, smooth surface. And yet like the mane, were not tied up, and seemed to be allowed to be somewhat wild. Almost dragging across the ground, were she not lifting the long tail. Much like with her mane, it would be carried to just above her ankles. She also appeared to have all sorts of symbols painted into her coat, in the same black tone as the tips of her mane, and her fluffy chest plumage.

She wouldn't move closer, but just look on, while Omen slowly glanced her way. Odd how many suddenly wanted to know about her siblings. Usually, the unformed ones made others go away. Maybe this were a special town?

"Yes."

She didn't know what else to say about this, as the mare began to wander back, and left the area without saying another word. If Lin tried to talk to her, she wouldn't respond.

"Hmm, I count her, and three others, circling the area... Something about that performance, seems to have caught their eyes."

Mary would likely have said more, but a throat clear behind her, made her realize that in her daze, she had wandered away from the griffons she were serving, so she scurried back there to focus on them.

"I wouldn't worry. If this were a dangerous situation, they would have acted by now. And do please forgive Last Rites. She's not as socially adept as her little sister is."

Soda would point towards Mary, to indicate whom he meant. Not much family resemblance between the two, but ponies were odd like that. For some reason, they tended to look all over the place sometimes, even within their own family.

"In any case, if your friend have not caught his big break, and are continuing on the street, perhaps you could direct him here? We never say no to well behaved entertainers, and if he works well with others, I know a few who have asked around for other musically inclined beings.

I doubt I need to say why we like musicians here. The carnival does not provide music automatically after all."

It were there constantly, all over the grounds actually. Some subtle, cheerful music, without vocals, that functioned well as background noise to really amp up the event, and make it a bit more cozy. The sound were coming from varied boxes around the place, which sent the sound around to cover the whole place. Much like speakers, but not relying on wires, which could cause trouble if they were just laying about, on days like this. Rather, they were magical in nature, for ease of use.

Meanwhile, Sen's shots were causing Rosa to get a little bit nervous that the longma might actually win. He had played up the boastful persona somewhat, in an effort to try and motivate Sen to do better, but he had not expected it to suddenly actually being This close.

After all were said and done, it were about as close as it could get actually. 1 point. 1, measly point, were all that he were ahead with. This game were not just open, it were proving to be almost nervewracking in how neck by neck it were going to be.

"See? You are still well within your chance to win this. This may prove more troubling than I had at first thought, but don't rest yet. The game have yet to be concluded, and I still have some bite left in me."

He'd get into position as quickly as he could, and waited Sen to be clear of the board, before finishing up his last three shots at this game. Let's see how well they'd count.

He started off the three darts, by planting one smack down in the center- of 11. Nowhere near the middle of the board, of the triple he had hoped for. Just right in the middle, between triple and double points, as if to tease him.

The second one were a fair bit better, ad he scored a delicious triple 17, netting him 51 points. The first dart were gonna drag him down, but this were definitely a marketable improvement, that's count for quite a lot, here at the end of the game. Time to see what he'd end up finishing on.

The dart soared, flew through the air on the tract to glory... And hammered itself, right into the corner of a double 5. Better than if it had hit a single five yes, but this were still a meager ending.

"72 points. If you do a round like last Sen, the victory is yours. It is entirely up to you now, how this game will end."

He'd retrieve his dart, and put them down on the table, while ensuring that he were not in Sen's line. Their time were ticking down, and he'd only have time for these three. They'd see if he could make them count, and get more than the 73 points he needed for a draw, or 73 for a victory.  The round before proved that he had the skills for it, but they'd see if it shone through now.

May the best player win.

@Windy Breeze

Sorrow's lower lip fell a little, and she looked at Windy in brief concern and surprise. Not over what had were the case with Quill, though. No, for that, she had looked relieves, as it sounded like the mare would be completely okay, and had not been hurt too badly.

Her other reaction here, came from the fact that Windy could see Tepe. Not just hear him, or feel a presence, but down right see him. Which meant that she had seemingly been *awakened*, if one could call it that. Which probably also meant that she could see Legion, like how Sorrow did, which were an unformed aura, oozing around inside the skull. They rarely took full forms, beyond when they were discussing things with potential new arrivals, so most of the time, this were how they looked. They didn't need it to talk with one another, and it took energy that they did not need to spare, so it were mostly pointles.

She'd likely also see them move to the side, like a slime, and their wispy eyes towards something away from the rest. Which were Razor, whom they could feel were there, as Autumn were familiar enough with his energy, for them to be able to pick up from that memory, and sense his presence, when he were this close. Though they yet remained silent on it, and let the three others speak. Their time would come, eventually.

"T-This... This is Tepe, Windy. He's uhm... Y-Yes, sorry. Tepe is lost, and have asked for help to come home again. I'm hoping to try and help hi wit that, after we have gone and finished up the town you wanted us to go to.

Tepe, this is Windy Breeze. She's the friend I told you about before, that also needed a little help."

She tried to be civil, and focused on this, but inside her head, Sorrow's mind were razing about what she were supposed to do now, that Windy had become able to see past the veil too. Probably lead her back to her family's mansion, right? Have them test her, and see if she only had sight, or... Other things too? But how were she going to tell her this? Much less convince her to go along with it?

Urgh... Today were getting a lot more complicated by the minute...

Meanwhile, Needle scoffed, as she saw Bluff and Flinty take off, to join the search and rescue efforts.

"Goons."

They had their usage, but overall, she did not think these two to be more than that. Simple goons. And weak links at that, if they broke protocol on a simple thing, such as making contact with her. She should probably report them to the boss, but it were a minor transgression, so she would allow them a chance to redeem themselves, and live to serve another day.

She did not expect them to get much out of this endeavor though. But long as they did not reveal their true purpose there, and made sure to report everything they saw, it would still be useful. If they then found something of worth to report back with, they may even gain some favor, rather than the bad standing they thus far had in her eyes. It would be up to them to prove their worth now, and they best hope they did not fail. Needle had only a sliver more mercy than the boss, and she had already expended it, by giving them a chance.

Other nurses would come towards her, and she'd put on her professional, somewhat pleased look on again, and meet them.

"Oh hey there, Needle. I heard you were chatting with somepony. Are they already gone?"

"Busy little stallions, you know? They were just here to hear if there were anything they needed to watch out for, when joining the search and rescue party. I think they have a long day ahead of them now."

"Yeah, I can see that. Nice of them to go and help though."

"They have their moments. Anyway, I need to get back to work. Need to sort some paperwork, before my shift is over."

"Aaaah, the funniest part of the job."

They'd exchange a mild chuckle, before Needle went on her way inside again. Time to finish this work, so she could begin on the task for her other one.

Windy kept her smile, but inside of that smile was concern, she noticed how the tone of her voice had some hesitation and force in it, complete with a stammer at the start, she assumed something is bugging her friend during this time, especially the fact she had the help two individuals now.

“Nice to meet you, Tepe” Windy bowed her head, which she never normally do when meeting somepony. It could be probably because the newcomer isn't a pony but a zebra.

“Nice to meet you too, Breeze” Tepe greeted back. Funny, he called Windy by her last name instead of her first name “So, you're the one who also needs help from Sorrow here?”

“Yeah, ” Windy replied “It was a long story. I also heard from my friend you are lost. I think Sorrow and I should help you fi-”

“N-No!” Tepe interrupted her, but felt awkward when he realized he spoke too loud “I mean, no. We can first go and help you find your family first, then we can have a few days of rest before continuing to look for my family” he smiled shyly.

While Ruby agreed partly with Leviathan regarding the Kitsune-class, she was surprised how calmly Leviathan took the whole situation, she had expected the kitsune's illusion to be inaccurate, but this inaccurate? It was weird that they didn't just ask if their intent was truly peaceful, sure safety was important but there was better ways to do it that would make sure that someone like Ruby wouldn't misunderstand and cause unnecessary harm, but it was also unexpected that Leviathan was so okay with being put to sleep like that.

she shook her head when Leviathan tried to assure her "While I get what you're saying, it was a failure from my part, the signs were obvious, I just didn't focus on the right things ." it actually wouldn't have been as bad if she hadn't noticed them before the illusion was broken by the caster, because that would have meant that she had been genuinely fooled rather than her just failing to notice what in hindsight were obvious things. She would leave it to that if Leviathan didn't continue on that topic.

"I gave the ring to him so I could track him in case we got separated, but I let him to keep it since it seems like me giving it to him helped with his trust issues a bit." Hearing his name, Charir cut in and asked Ruby something in slightly concerned tone, to which she responded something that seemed to calm him down, and while the tension between the two siblings was still noticeable, it has gotten better from since Leviathan last saw them before she fell asleep. "That reminds me though, I found out something during all that, it turns out that I too have more magic in me than I assumed, but I have no idea how to use it, it just happened."

------------------------------------------
"I don't have any big plans." Nada said "I figured I could use the time to learn about everything I missed, like I have been doing...though I must admit I don't like reading pony history much at a time, it's very....one-sided, and while I do understand that winners write history, it's still not too pleasant for me to read." she wasn't sure who all she had said this already, but what she was sure about was that Berry if anyone would agree with her if she hadn't talked about it with her already "Other than that, well, 'loitering', as you called it, there isn't much I can do, so may just as well just wait until something happens, oh, and I probably should visit my old singing place at some point, I'm interested in seeing what Lyriel did to the place."

---------------------------------------
"You have done much for me already, and while I will not stop you from helping me further, I feel obligated to say that you have done enough, you shouldn't do things just for me, as I will never be able to truly appreciate it enough." Scarecrow said in polite manner just before the shout, which then caused him to move towards the source at quick pace, using his wings only if there was a high obstacle in front of him, he didn't seem to be big on the whole flying thing. He could have moved quicker if he wanted, and it wasn't like he was waiting for Lyriel, he just didn't deem it necessary because the voice had been cut short, which usually meant that he was already too late, there rarely were cases where cries of help were cut short without something bad already happening.

It wouldn't take too long for him to reach the destination though, he did know the forest better than his own body after all, and when he arrived, he would just stop and look at the petrified griffon. He would wait for Lyriel before speaking "One of those chicken-snake things again." he somehow sounded even more unfazed than before, this weren't new creatures to him, yet they were one of the most troubling, as he had no idea how to deal with them.

Their stare wasn't really threat to him, since he didn't really have eyes which he could use to look something into its eyes, and even if somehow it ended up effecting him, it wouldn't do much since the growth that seemed to be the thing keeping him working was separate from his 'normal' body, and had no vision of any kind, but he also had no way to help those fallen victim for those things, and thus he had usually just carried the statues on the edge of the forest and hoped someone would deal with them. “I know you will, Omen, and we’ll get our chance. Besides, now that I brought him up, I really should introduce you to Fiddle.” Lin moved to Omen and placed one claw over her shoulder, smiling at what she’d describe as confident resolve.

“Don’t worry, mayor. Some ponies we’ve met had similar reactions to seeing the gate open to Omen’s home realm. It’s a little scary at first but it’s ultimately harmless. Sometimes, I like to go there as it brings a special, calming presence that you could only find in a few places.”

“And if Fiddle is interested in plying his musical talents here, I’ll be sure to let him know about this place. A more down-to-earth kind of place like the Moonlit Thicket might be more preferable for someone whose overwhelmed with life in the city. I must say, though, going on for more than five years without a break wouldn’t really leave much room for optimism, but if it helps…”

It was a painful thing to be reminded of… having no chance at moving up in the world, even if only for a little bit. Lin wouldn’t know what that was like in practice, but she saw enough of Fiddle’s difficulty in the short time they spent together. No way would she wish that on anyone. Even now, she was wondering about her friend’s situation. Perhaps if things aren’t looking good for Fiddle, he may need to seek opportunities elsewhere. He did something good for her once; it was only right to do something good in return.

A festival or a carnival would really be something to brighten up his mood if he ever came here. Without a shortage on acts and having plenty of room for more, this would be the kind of place that the stallion would thrive.

Back at the dart game, Sen was feeling much better about his chances of winning. Though he was down one point and the pressure to win was higher than ever, he’s still confident enough to turn things around. Rosa was the competitive type, and given what happened with the archery range earlier, there’s no way Sen would want to just even the score or intentionally lose.

First dart on the board landed flat on a 19, with the second landing on a double 20. Those two tosses got the longma’s hopes up again with escalating point values. The final one would decide it all. Sen took a deep breath in, readied himself, and tossed the dart. What comes next decides the game. As the dart travelled to the board and hit its mark, the excited look on Sen’s face quickly turned into one of surprise and disappointment. The dart landed on a 12, netting a total of 71 points. At that point, Sen was speechless, especially because the dart’s tip was close to landing on the double score zone. He fell to his knees, barely able to get a word out before quietly muttering his thoughts.

“No, no, no…. That can’t be it.”

(I decided Sen's outcome based on a coin toss; heads=win, tails=lose. Just thought you'd like to know.)

Voice, smells, even you name it- If it can be imitated, the kitsune will do their best to try and make it believable. And they're sadly, very, very good at it. It's just fortunate that they're content living their lives as they do, rather than attempt to attack, and expand their territory."

Considering their powers, it would be a true issue to deal with a focused effort from them all, to overtake for example, the rest of Neighpon, rather than just have their areas for themselves. Yet they were tricksters and free-spirited beings. They did not much care for dominating their neighbors, though they would defend what was rightfully theirs. Only fair really, and it were simpler for all to just let them have their areas, rather than dealing with them trying to expand it, in retaliation for land if theirs being lost.

She'd let out another yawn, and shake her head to try and get the last wooziness out of her head. It sounded like Ruby weren't all that interested in continuing this particular talk, and especially not as she probably thought she weren't a good huntress, because she had been duped, so Leviathan wouldn't poke more at it, if the larger dragoness wouldn't either.

This were far more interesting too anyway. Ruby had unknown magic too? And The ring had been gifted to Charir? Considering the general hoarding nature of dragons, simply giving a piece of treasure to someone else, for nothing in return, carried quite a bit of meaning to it. Something which Charir seemed to understand too, since even if he were clearly still weary of his sister, the air felt less tense when they talked now. Perhaps he were slowly getting around to the thought, that she actually meant him well? It would certainly be good if it were, as that were a big hurdle to pass, considering their family history.

The other thing too though, were fairly interesting. Yet there were barely any details given, which made it hard to evaluate things properly for her. She needed some more information, though at first, she'd begin by smiling at Charir, and nod her head with a pleased look on her face. He needed more positivity in his life, and even if he couldn't understand what she were saying, she still hoped he could see from actions and attitude, that she too wanted what was best for him. An easier task than doing it with Ruby, but one issue at a time.

"It's good that you two are slowly getting better along. Well done to you both, and a good way to do so, Ruby. I can imagine it means quite a lot to him.

Might I ask more about that magic you talked about though? How did it manifest, and in what situation? Maybe we can figure out what we're dealing with."

"Oh! You should try non-equine history books about this then. Winners might write the story like they want, but it gets more neutral, if you go for the sorts who weren't part of that situation. So like... Griffon history books, maybe? It'll downplay their stuff, and paint them in a better light, but if it's siren and pony history you wanna see, they might be less biased in it."

"It ain't a bad idea actually. We probably wouldn't be able to find any of those books here in town, but I could ask if somepony might know someone from G-"

"Me! Memememe! I'll do it. A flight to Griffonstone sounds like fun. I'll do it tomorrow, bright and early."

Ziggy waved her front hooves in excitement over the prospect of doing this. She loved long flights, and it really helped on her energy levels to go do that. plus, it'd be near the ocean, so she could get some crab at the same time, and visit Griffonstone, which she hadn't thus far! All good stuff.

"You sure that ain't a problem though? Gonna take a lot of time."

"I need to fly around lots, to get my energy in control, and I'd like to see the place. It'll be fun."

Well, seemed like she weren't getting deterred, so... That was it then, eh? Simple enough it seemed, so next point likely. Berry for one didn't much care to try and argue against this. If Ziggy had the time, and really wanted to do it. then that were her choice.

"Oh yeah, I remember that one. Sorta sweated that out, but you're right. She might've done really good with that one. Could be worth checking up on one of these days for sure."

"A singing place? Like a parlor, or theater thing? Awesome! Can I see it when it's done? Pretty please? I wanna see what sorta place you sing."

Ziggy turned and looked up at Nada with big eyes, just brimming with filly-like excitement, as she imagined what that music parlor looked like. Her mind were likely overestimating it wildly, but that was okay. Happened more often than not, as her imagination could sometimes go grandiose with even the smallest of things.

It would be something she had to discuss with him later, as the scream interrupted them from having the time for it, but she were determined to tell him that she did not help him because she expected gratitude for him. She were helping him, because he needed it, and were what she'd consider to be a friend. She did not need anything in return for providing him the assistance he needed. Not even heartfelt gratitude. The act of knowing she were helping him, were plenty enough for her.

It may seem weird to some, but dryads were beings whose whole purpose were to help those who needed it. And while yes, it felt good to receive appreciation for such an act, it were not something they craved to the point, where they would refuse help, lest they were given it. Lyriel at least, were not such a being.

But alas, this would be a thing to discuss later, as for now, there were some who needed help. Earth Mother be willing, they would make it there in time, and not when it were too late to do much more, than deliver the sad news.

Lyriel were silent for a while, as she leaned down, and scraped at the ground, where the track of the creature lead. There could hardly be a doubt of what they were dealing with here, could there? Between the tracks, the feather, and the poor, unfortunate soul, who had gotten petrified, there were really only thing this could point towards. A very unfortunate situation, to put it mildly. Especially for the poor pony that were now stuck in this state.

"Far as I am aware, only the one who petrified the victim, can free them again. There may be some remedy the ponies make use of, that can go past this restriction, but if they do, I do not know it. I fear our best hope is to follow the track, and see if we can find the one who did this. With some luck, we may be able to talk the creature into showing mercy upon this pony. If not...  I cannot make myself hurt any of the forests creatures, so I know not what to do from there. Maybe bring this unfortunate pony to town, and see if they might be able to find a solution for the poor thing?

*sigh* We should begin tracking it down quickly, before it gets too far away. I pray that somehow, we will be able to make it see reason. Even if I have had a hard time with them thus far."

She'd get up, and go over to raise a tall set of bushes around the pony, to give it some shelter from potential wildlife. It would not do good if they returned, just to find that the statue were broken apart by say, a boar or something similar. It would be a most horrid ending to a life, in her opinion.

"I agree that it is best to take one thing at a time, and we need to travel much, much farther to reach where you wish to go, Tepe. It is best if we focus on Windy's affairs first. Tomorrow though. Today, we rest up, and prepare to take off then. After today's hardships, I think it best to not overexert ourselves.

Plus, my uncle would lose it, if he heard we just took off right now, and then he'd tell my dad. I don't want him to scold me for sneaking off."

Not that she'd sneak off anyway, as she liked her uncle, and really looked forward to catching up with him. But with several folks to help, she may be tempted to focus solely on that, and well... That would essentially end them the same place, and it were best not to do that. They needed rest, and she needed to not be faced with a judgmental stare from her dad. She really didn't like it when he gave her that look. It made her feel like a bad filly.

"So then, if you're done with Quill, should we go, Windy? Or did you want to see if the others were here too? I'm sure that they are somewhere, and that they're getting all the best help they can get. The doctors are really good here, it looks like."

She also had to figure out some way to get a bit of alone time with Windy later, to not spook Tepe, with the sort of thing she had to talk to Windy about. Though Windy herself might end up being the spoked one. Not everypony took it too well to suddenly have the sight, though at least for now, it seemed as if she weren't aware of it. That'd give her a bit of time at least, provided they did not run across a spirit that were considerably less well preserved than Tepe were.

That were going to be something alright. Omen tended to make a first impression that were hard to ignore, or forget, so a lot would depend on what sort of threshold that Fiddle had. Or whatever or not, Lin could convince him that she were completely harmless. At which point, he might still think she were too weird. If need be though, she could leave for a while, to make it simpler for Lin. It were not the first, nor likely last time, that Omen were asked to do that.

"I may be somewhat biased, but I will personally attest that the Moonlit Thicket is a good, generally peaceful village to live in, and can be a good place for a fresh start. We have the essentials, and safe travel paths to get to other places, for the things we do not have. If he have an interest, then please do feel free to bring him to me directly, and I can explain to him further about what we may have to offer one another."

He'd stop talking for a bit now, as he saw Omen wander closer to him after that remark, and begin to sniff him.

"Ah yes, I were... Informed of this. It is quite something to see in person though."

Omen would wander around him after a time, and began to examine him in more details. He were more spacious than those she were normally used to, so she wanted to get a better look, now that she were close. The others were speaking anyway, so would it truly matter, if she did this? It probably wouldn't interrupt them. It would briefly make Soda give her a curious look, and follow her with his eyes, before he returned to addressing Lin. It must be quite the thing to get used to be friends with Omen, in his mind. She seemed well meaning of course, yet she were a special little one to be around. He assumed it were a case of getting used to her oddities.

"...In any case, I hope that your friend have had easier times since last you met, but if not, then I do think it best if he attempts new grounds. There comes a point where a change of scenery, may well be the only way one can attempt to dig their way out of a pit. If for nothing else, then to end up getting some perspective on things for a time.

But that will be up to him in time. As for the two of you, have you considered enjoying some of the nearby sights, while your friends are competing? There is much to see, without much of a need to wander too far away, and it seems a shame for you to not enjoy the festival. It's a lovely time after all."

Rosa went over and put a heavy hoof on his friends shoulder. If need be, he'd also shake it a little, to try and get Sen's attention, before he'd watch the longma go into a depressed, downward spiral over having lost this game. Why that were affecting him right now, compared to before, Rosa were not sure, but he'd best intervene regardless.

"Only two points away, in your very first game? Impressive score, and a valiant effort, Sen. One you can be proud of, and build upon until we next get a chance to play darts."

Rosa would squeeze Sen's shoulder, and bow his neck for the longma, before offering him a hoof to shake, and hold on to, so that Rosa might help drag him up on his feet again.

"2-1 then Sen. But there are still two disciplines left, and all to play for. So come on. Rise up, and show an old sinner that a close call won't get the better of you."

The owner were already here, but it seemed like the two of them had a moment, and he really didn't want to interrupt that. Seemed kinda wrong to do to anypony. Though soon as they were ready, he'd lead them on to the crossbow booth. Something which had some similarities to the archery booth, which were one where Sen had trounced Rosa with a fair bit better margin, than Rosa had just won with, so the odds were in his favor. Doubly so, as Rosa frankly hated crossbows. Too clunky, slow and unwieldly for his taste. Which did put him at a disadvantage. They'd see how Sen managed to cope with it though Maybe worse, maybe better. They'd need a few bolts to get some sort of idea about it.

“Quill's going to be released today, but I think I should tell the nurse and her that we are leaving now” Windy said. She went back inside the room and informed Blaze and Quill “Quill, nurse. I apologize that I'm going to leave for now with my friend. Quill take care of yourself okay? And spend some time with Writer”

Quill lifted an eyebrow “Leaving already?” she look down at her blanket before looking at Windy “Sure. I don't find anything wrong about it”

Windy went back outside and nod at Sorrow and Tepe. Meanwhile, Razor still maintained his distance.

“Attest? If I’d never be welcomed back home, I’d probably come here for a fresh start! Either here or Ponyville, anyway. Its atmosphere already strikes a nice balance between modern advancement and spiritualism, calm yet welcoming of action. I digress; smaller towns have a nice feel to them, where things move at their own pace and everyone living in it can go with that flow.”

Though Omen’s curiosity would seem odd at times, Mayor Soda was taking it a lot better than some longma back home. It was a reasonable stance knowing how unfamiliar Omen is to them, but even staying in the village for some time hasn’t undone that suspicion. Some would keep to their long-held beliefs, but hopefully, when things calm down a little more, they’d be more open to interacting with the Ki’Nathar, even if those were baby steps.

“Thank you for your kind words and sentiment, mayor. I’m sure my friend would like something new if it means finding a place where his talents are appreciated and sustainable. You do have a point, though. Besides the game booths and the food, what else can you recommend we visit? I admit, this being my first carnival makes me feel lost despite taking Banshee’s aerial tour. Things are different when your eyes don’t see the lay of the land like a bird.”

A true sentiment, frankly. The carnival grounds looked a lot smaller in the air, but on the ground, it was probably a little overwhelming. Bright lights and eye-popping colors tended to draw attention away to somewhere else, but here, too much of it could be confusing. Around this time, even Lin is thinking of something fun to do with Omen. Maybe she’d like a change of pace.

Meanwhile, Sen would pause his mumbling when he felt Rosa’s hoof on him. It was reassuring, but not necessarily by much. He’d take rosa by the hoof he offered and got up onto his feet before addressing him.

“Thank you. It’s not the losing that got to me. You’ve seen it earlier in the moontag game with Lin and Omen. It’s that feeling…. I’m not sure what you call it, but… you know how you try your best but even doing that isn’t enough? I guess that’s the best way I can put it.”

“Ah, maybe I’m just getting into this game more than I’d expect; I was so sure I had it! Alright then, Rosa. Two more games? I’ll bounce back, you’ll see!”

Sen seemingly got over his defeat rather quickly, and in a sense, he did. The thought would linger for a little longer knowing how much it stung, but it could be applicable in a lot of other situations. Perhaps this was no place and time for such sentiments knowing how much it could ruin the mood. The longma would perk himself up, if not for himself, then for his friend. This was a night for fun after all, and the crossbows would distract him, seeing how he’d fair with a more… unwieldy-looking object.

“Now this is stranger than the bow. This contraption just looses arrows without much effort on the user’s part?”

"I mean no disrespect to the princess, her friends, or the town of Ponyville in general, but I would not advice living there. They have a semi-frequent issue with monsters in the area, whereas here, it is an actual rarity. Due to varied methods, from varied inhabitants, wild monsters are deterred from getting too close to our towns. And as for those with ill intent... They learn the hard way, if they ignore the warnings."

Soda tensed up a little, and got a harder face on, as he said the last words after the pause. Something to make himself appear a little more intimidating and serious than he had so far shown himself to be. A way to get his point further across, even if realistically, he wouldn't get to do much of a confrontation with anypony. He were probably just going to lock the most troublesome up, whereas the Macabre clan would deal with the actual fight.

If any intruder were lucky, they'd not encounter Madamme Macabre herself if they were foolish enough to do this. She were a very unwise mare to get on the bad side of, even if she were not sadistic or something like that. It were more a case of completely wiping the floor with her opponents, and demoralizing them via sheer power, which made her rather terrifying to face off against. If you weren't an enemy though, and showed her respect, she were a rather lovely mare to be around. If a bit cold for some.

As for his expression and stance, it would soften up quickly again, and he'd let out a short, deep laugh.

"That being said, Ponyville is still a lovely place, and if you know how to fend for yourself, and prefer a little sporadic action in your life, it can be a fine place to live. Far better than the large towns like Canterlot, Fillydelphia, or Manehattan at least, in my own opinion. A town starts to lose its charm and atmosphere once it starts being as tightly packed and filled as those towns are."

"I were just about to suggest one of their tours, actually. It is something to behold, though Banshee offers rides for more than a bird's eye view. In fact, I believe you can see that for yourself, if you look that way."

Soda would point to the sides, where a brief, ghastly glow were seen dashing past some trees, before whatever were there rounded a corner, and Lin would be able to get a better view on the spectacle.

It were Banshee again, this time in harness with wheels that spun in a spooky glow, which seemed to indicate that these were perhaps not real, but rather ethereal.

Behind it, clinging to the front one, were several open wagons made from the same metal, and hung together on hinges, which allowed for some flexibility in the semi-floating line of carriers. Which were needed, as they were slinging from side to side, slithering around the trees at a fairly high speed, so the flexibility of the wagons, allowed for a stability in them, even if they looked a little like a large, glowing worm at times.

The tourists in there though, seemed to enjoy themselves, and really take in the sights, while in the front, Banshee seemed to have a great time leading this on. The big smile on their face at least, made it hard to think there wasn't some enjoyment there at least.

Dragging everything by the harness though, wasn't Abacus. Instead it were a dozen and a half flock of foal-sized, glowing rats, lead on by a buffallo-height, lean rat, that jumped skillfully over the underbrush and varied things in the way, to make sure that things kept moving. Frankly, it were fairly impressive that the small ones kept up with its speed, though it wasn't as if one could be left behind, as it seemed like the lot of them were connected by their tails. A rat king of sorts, just moving in unison. and jumping away on this tour of the grounds, which would soon enough be out of view again. Many that wanted tours, so lingering around wasn't that much of an option.

"A true beast master, but for something more immediate, which will not bring you too far... Might I suggest a game? There is a decently fun one over there, by the fish-bowl shaped attraction."

It were less of a fish bowl, and more like an open-topped bubble of magic, surrounding a booth that seemed to mostly be a board of varied prizes, and a decently sized pool of sorts. Judging by the fishing lines over there, it appeared to be a game of trying to catch something, though it were hard to see the carps in the water from this angle and distance. They should be able to see that there were no hooks on the lines though, but rather small nooses with a weight at the bottom, to try and catch the fish, without harming it.

"It is a fairly entertaining game, though it does takes skill to properly catch the fish. maybe something you would enjoy though? Yet if you'd prefer, I could find something else to direct you to instead, if that is more to your liking?"

"That is the spirit Sen. You cannot let a loss cut you down like this, and especially not when it is close. Remember that there is always someone out there, whom are better at something than you, and it is no shame to play closely with another. Frankly, it shows your own skills that you can do so, and when it is your first time too? You have a lot of skill that is yet to be refined, Sen.

Take to heart what the wisest equine I've ever known told me: When you give your all and fail, accept your loss, and strive to be better than you are now. Train, study, and keep pushing. If you have the will to stay the course, you will one day be victorious."

A bit cheesy maybe, but his father had a point, and he had always encouraged that one should do their best to push past their limits, to get to their goal.

Of course, sometimes you just couldn't. Some obstacles were too steep to pass, but one should always try to conquer it before one had to accept there were limits to your own skills. More often than not, sheer will could get you quite a bit of way.

"If I had a few years, and your consent to pushing you quite mercilessly, I am sure I could mold some of your skills quite substantially, Sen. I am not joking when I say that you have raw potential in several things. It merely needs some refinement."

He could use some refinement too, which he felt as the crossbow laid in front of him, and the owner began to work through instructions on how to use this. Both with and without the hoof strap, as it were only one of them that could not use a regular trigger.

"So the mechanism is simple. You just put the bolt in here, and pull the line back. Then you take aim, and when you feel ready... Shoot."

The owner showed off how to do everything with delight, and as he got to the end of his talk, would aim towards the board and fire off the crossbow in his hooves. Something which nettet him a perfect bullseye. Not a big surprise that the pony who owned and maintained all of these weapons were rather good with them, though he didn't look like an active hunter. Might just be a skilled hobbyist, or his looks were deceiving.

"Now remember the safety precautions, okay? This is not a toy, it is a dangerous weapon. Treat it with respect, and be careful where you place your limbs. Also, sir, you will have to use the trigger, as you do not have the same degree of leg muscles"

He'd place it down on the table, and would slowly leave the room. If they had a question, it were best to ask it before he left. Though if not, they got the basics given, and Rosa could repeat things if it were.

"Been as long time since I used these, and I did not think fondly of them then either. Let us see how this will go..."

Rosa took a few more seconds to aim with this, than he had with any other thing, and then finally shot. The score board were much the same as with the board from the archery section, so they could add up points in much the same way, so that should ease things to some degree, when it came to keeping track of who were winning.

latest?cb=20121108203145

Rosa's shot were a middling one, landing as it did, on the outskirts of the outer dark ring. Which at least were better than if he had hit the white one, as this would at least still get him 3 points.

As this were another *three arrows per turn* thing, he would shoot two more, which ended up near the bottom, firmly in the middle of a singular points. Whereas the third would not even hit the board. At which point he let out a grumbling sentence, which contained words that weren't for proper company. Which he then tried to hide by clearing his throat.

"I have to calibrate my stance quite a bit on this one, I think. You take your turn while I think further on this please, Sen."

Blaze would wave at Windy as she left, then turn her attention on Quill. Poor thing left all alone now, though it sounded like she had somepony to go to. That was excellent in her current condition, frankly. Not good to be alone like this, just in case.

"Sounds like you have somepony waiting for you. A coltfriend, maybe? It'd do you good, I think. After the day you've had, having somepony special there could really help distract you from it all. Or maybe a marefriend, I guess. I'm not judging.

Do you need a message to be sent off to Writer, so he or she can come pick you up here? I can get that done for you while you get some rest, if you'd like. Anything I can do, to make sure you're getting this as best you can."

While Blaze nurtured Quill, and talked kindly to the mare, outside, there would be a bit of development too. Namely that it seemed to be time to leave the hospital properly. She didn't mention Rose, or anyone else they ran into earlier, so maybe Windy just wanted to get out of here, and get some fresh air? Could well be. Or she still planned to see if she could find them. She hadn't said anything for or against that thus far, so it were hard to tell.

"I hope Quill will be well. Blaze looked like she knew what she were doing at least, so we can only hope. *sigh* I hope all of them are okay. Horrible thing that everypony went through... *sigh* Anyway, what now, Windy?"

Quill's face turned pink “W-Writer's not my boyfriend, he's one of my brothers” she corrected Blaze. She could not blame her for thinking Writer is her boyfriend for the nurse haven't met him yet. When Blaze offered to sent a message to his brother, Quill smiled “Sure, ” she agreed.

...

Meanwhile, outside. Windy would reply to Sorrow's question with uncertainty “Uh, if you're hungry, let's go to the nearest restaurant” although she forgotten Rose, she still remember Sandy, Rose's husband, but she thought it would be a good idea to both leave them alone, knowing simply finding them while in a bad state will end up giving them bad results.

The smile itself didn't really say anything to Charir, but he could read Leviathan's emotions in a different way so the message of positivity did reach him, not that he really knew how he was supposed to react to it.

Ruby nodded at the first part of Leviathan's comment, as she had no disagreements with any of it, even if the praise was maybe bit unnecessary in her opinion, since it had been less either of them doing something and more the situation bringing up actions that helped. "I myself only noticed it when I arrived to take you from the Kitsune, I sent out a some kind of burst of flame when I landed, but Charir said that I had also left behind burned footprints when we left the area before that." "Neither time fires were started, things just got scorched." "I find this especially weird because for my almost 200 year life this has never happened before." In Charir's case it was easier to understand why he just now had figured out that he had something going on, but what were the chances that she hadn't once in almost two centuries revealed hers by accident like she did now?

----------------------------------------------------
Usually Nada would have said how it wasn't necessary to do something like that for her sake, but seeing how excited Ziggy was about it, she deemed it to be better to skip that part this time. "Thank you Ziggy." "And sure, you're welcome there whenever you want, it's not like I own it." she smiled "Though I wouldn't necessarily call it parlor or theater, until those mean different things than they used to, it's more like a, naturally formed stage, I used to perform there before ponies were scared of my kind, it used to be in a opening but the forest has taken it over during the last millennia."

-------------------------------------
"Do these things pose a threat for you?" Scarecrow asked as he waited for Lyriel to be ready with the statue "I myself have found their gaze to be ineffective against me, but how does it go with you? or do they even try?" he was mostly asking all this to know if he needed to pay attention so that he could act if things went south for his natural companion. He would start following the tracks when Lyriel was ready, tracking creatures afterwards like this was one of his weaknesses, because his ability to track something was dependent on visual and sound based signs, thus, if creature was too far to be heard by him and it didn't leave obvious tracks like this one, he wouldn't be able to find it.

“I couldn’t say for sure about the monsters and other creatures attacking Ponyville. Last time I was there, it was pretty quiet and spacious. Lots of room to move around; even the streets were, well… wide. As for Banshee’s tours, it’s definitely something to experience, seeing as I can’t really fly. Abacus pulled the wagon I rode, and little Shrimp here struck up a budding friendship. I’ll definitely go back to see them later.”

“But that fishing game? It’s definitely going to be different from the way we catch fish back home. Spears and baskets are commonly used by the longma, so catching something that doesn’t involve those will be interesting. I might check it out. Want to try it out, Omen?”

Frankly, Lin isn’t even familiar with fishing using the spear. Other than what Sen told her about how fish are caught in the rivers near their home, he never got the chance to teach her how to catch one. Some longma luck out and are able to catch fish without any tools, but that was more likely because of how fast they can swipe their claw in the water. The best ones could catch the fingerlings before they could swim away, and those are the most nimble.

Meanwhile, Sen would keep Rosa’s words of encouragement in mind when he prepared himself for the first round of firing crossbow bolts at the target. The process seemed simple enough; load a bolt, pull back on the line, aim, and fire. Even the owner makes it seem a little easier than it looked, but knowing how the bow felt in Sen’s claw the first time, the crossbow would probably take a little more time to get used to.

Sen went over the preparations, and when he was ready, he took position. The crossbow was a little unwieldy but after remembering the breathing exercise from the archery game, the longma took his shot. Though he recoiled from the unexpected feedback from the crossbow, the bolt still managed to land somewhere on the target. Sadly, this one made its way to the outermost ring, netting only 1 point.

“This isn’t going to be easy. The bow and arrows felt a lot more natural, like having the tools become an extension of yourself.”

The second bolt didn’t find its way on the board, leaving Sen grumbling. With the third shot, Sen aimed higher to see just how much the bolt would drop. Though he managed to get the bolt to land, it only gained him 2 points, as the bolt didn’t seem to be greatly affected by gravity.

“Yeah… Not going to be easy. Maybe when you have the opportunity, you could teach me some of those skills you think are useful to know.”

"Normally such an attack would be handled by the local police, or any stationed Royal guards that happen to be in the area.  This was a wee bit different though.  The city was attacked by a dark wizard from another country.  A very powerful one at that.  Mind controlling wasps on Mane Street.  Tree monsters attacking a workshop on the outskirts.  Crystal spiders attacking a school.  And one of our Detectives whisking off to the dark country to combat the dark wizard.  A country that has also been distant from Equestria.  Diplomacy and all that, the Princesses needed to be involved.  It gets really complicated when a country attacks another, but then you find out the dark wizard also was kinda the bad guy in his own country" Flare added on.  Luckily such matters were left up to more experienced minds, richer blood and higher levels of authority.

The trio of officers escorted the citizen with Bash bringing up the rear with his large frame causing the stairs to creak, quite an old building.  The group hardly made it half way through the office where all the agents worked when the building started to shake slightly.  "Speak of the pony," Flare got out as the air crackled with energy.  Hairs stood on end in the charged arcane energies gathered.  Several desktop materials shook out of place before the charge came to a climax and a flash of mint filled the room.  "-lease let me handle the transportation," a feminine voice complained mid conversation.  The space to the side of the cubicles suddenly occupied by a young unicorn with a pale yellow coat and blond mane, along with the much larger captain of the O.M.I. that towered over those present.  A baby blue dress hung to Tussle's frame and a rose pinned in her mane.  "Pish, posh, I'm more than capable of group teleportation darling," Minty retorted in her dramatic voice.  Flicking her perfectly styled mane with a hoof for emphasis.  Wearing a far more elegant dress that one normally saved for grand balls, but any excuse for Minty was an excuse to dress up.   Tussle's horn ignited and everything out of place in the office became animated.  The whole office moved about on its own to become an organized and clean workspace.  Wind Gale yelped as her cluttered desk suddenly organized itself while she was trying to work.  "Capable yes, but your entries always wreck my office!"   Tussled huffed and her cheeks puffed up in annoyance as her spell ended with said office now sparkly clean.  "But aiming for my own office is so hard," Minty whined liked child, pouting her lips to appear more the victim.

Hearing what kind of life Rising could have expected in Harrowmark was rather frightening to know.  His gifts were never mistreated and nor was he.  The detective found his place in Equestria and it was waiting for him with open hoofs.  Minty was only more disappointed in having to wait for him to finish school before she could have him.  "Through different lens, I suppose," he mused in thought, would he have known any different if the situation had been different?  Hard to say.  It will take a while for Omen to get use to Equestria, just as much somepony from here would be in Harrowmark.

This was the first Rising was hearing anything about a mirror.  Gold Mane quickly brought him up to speed on the mirror Omen had shown them she had traveled through.  She had brought it along with them and it was waiting outside in the hall.  A curious way to travel.  There were mirrors all of Equestria, it was unsettling to imagine being watched through one or to having somepony suddenly appear out of one.  "Grave dear, the detective is resting from his bout with Twisted.  I'm not sure he'd be up for something like that," Cork explained, not wanting to rained on the bouncing mare's parade, but he was on R&R and wasn't suppose to be working.  "It's okay, a look wouldn't hurt.  I could use a little exercise anyways," Rising agreed.  Gold Mane slipped off his couch and went into the hallway to retrieve the mirror.  "If somepony is tracking me.  It would be rude to not say hello," the detective chuckled.  He was getting maybe a bit too use to being spied on lately.  The mirror was levitated in for Rising to take a look and see what he might find.

"A friendship with Abacus? That's quite a rare feat. Banshee had enough of a hard time making her get along with the others, such as Erasmus. That would be the rat king you just saw run past. Drakes are rather stubborn like that.

And as said, the attacks are not constant. Outside of those times, it is a rather pleasant place to be. It is simply that when things do occur, it tends to be rather hectic and dangerous. Though thus far, I have not heard of fatalities, so they have done well in fighting off the varied creatures at least."

Regarding Abacus, he'd say they were akin to dragons like that, but there were some in town, and they really did not like the comparison, so he'd hold his tongue. Frankly he didn't get the animosity, but dragons were prideful things, who weren't always possible to understand for him. Long as they didn't try to be rude to Abacus, he saw no reason to bring up anything, nor intervene. Mainly because if she heard that, Abacus herself would retaliate against them. She did not like being treated poorly.

"As for the game, it is not based around killing the fish, hence why spears and the like are not used. It is based on if you are able to catch it, which is allowed via the tools they have at hoof, or you can attempt to use hand power. Due to... Bad experiences, griffons have been barred from doing that one, as their instinct towards fish complicated things. You two should probably be fine though."

He'd lead them over, and the owner would spin around and look at them. Typical looking bat pony, with a silvery strand of hair, and a false front fang, made in gold. Made her stand out a little, but she didn't appear much different to any other, typical thestral beyond these things. She were average in height, weight, and mass, with nothing wild going on, nor signs of being a member of the Macabre family.

"Hello hello, and welcome to. What can I do to help the mayors guests?"

"They'd like to try the game. I have informed them of the restrictions regarding the fish."

"Goodies, then that's sorted. Rules otherwise is that you have five minutes to try and catch Mildew, Yeast, or Wheat. Depending on how fast you can do it, you win a price. Best prices of course, goes to those who can catch one of them the fastest. Within a minute, and it's the third highest shelf. Catch two within two minutes, and you get one step higher. Top shelf is if you can catch all of them within three minutes, which is harder than it sounds.

No lethal methods like claws or teeth allowed, but we have some varied things you can try and use around the pool. Fishing rods with string tends to be the most popular, but you can also use some of the boards to try and section them into a small area, so they're easier to catch, or a net perhaps. They're shallow though, so watch out. Can't make it too easy to catch them now, or there wouldn't be any fun in it.

Entry fee is three bits each. Dare to try?"

This one didn't flinch once she saw omen deliver the bits this time, though she were just spitting them out on the table, rather than use her tongue. It likely helped on things some.

As for the prizes one could win, there were several tiers. But if you wanted the best, you had to try and get this done within the time limit. Even if you could not though, there were still some good things further down, like small plushies and the like.

As for the fish, they were carp. Three of them, which swam around, avoiding capture from the others trying to catch them too, with nimble movements. Though one of them managed to get caught, which the owner marked with a tap on the board, before the fish got released into the pool again, to swim around the semi-open construction, which had a few small areas for them to swim through, to try and avoid capture. Or to get sectioned in.

It were easy to see a different, with them being primarily red, orange, and green in color. So you'd have some idea which one were which, even if you didn't know the specific name.

“Yeah… Not going to be easy. Maybe when you have the opportunity, you could teach me some of those skills you think are useful to know.”

"Crossbows are... Peculiar things, and the recoil is something one need to take into consideration too, or you'll falter. If you can get used to it all though, it is an efficient weapon. Not one I could teach you much about though. I have always found them too unwieldy, and hard to hide, which goes against my work. Imagine trying to pass as say, an accountant, whilst one of these things are slung on your back. Far too troubling.

In general though, there may be things I could teach you, though I'd have to apologize before beginning when it were. The methods I know to teach efficiently, is not of the sort that includes a good deal of easing things along. More towards a strict, yet fair approach, which will see you pushed to do better, and praised for your successes. Unless you appear to become complacent, in which case, that will be further between. Complacency, is the true enemy of progression."

It appeared to be his time now, so he lined up the crossbow, once Sen were out of the way, of course. They both seemed to have done rather poorly at the start, but Sen's last shot showed progression. He'd likely rake up some points next round, so Rosa had to try and bolster his own too.

It did not go terribly well, sadly. The first bolt he fired off, missed the board entirely, and got stuck in the wall behind it. The next fared little better, as it hit the board, but just managed to hit outside the point field.

This put all his effort into the last bolt. So he aimed, took a deep breath, and steeled his muscles. Then it would fire off, and would fly straight forth, where it would carve itself solidly into the bullseye.

Or it would have, if the board were shifted about twenty centimeters to the side. As it were though, Rosa only managed to hit a three pointer, and that was it. The same as Sen had just done, as well as worse than his previous round.

"Frustrating, but not unexpectedly. String weapons of this sort and I, do simply not go along. Now if said string were in my hooves, and I were up close, that would be an entirely different matter, yet I digress. And no, I am not going to teach you what to do with such a string. It is bad enough that I were taught to work a garrote when I were young. You should not be burdened with the potential of a skill meant only for harm.

In any case, I will have to think on how to improve my aim next round. It is your turn again, Sen. It seemed you were improving last round, near the end, so I am curious as to what will happen now. Perhaps a full center shot? We will see, though I wish you the best of luck."

"Attacking a school? What a horrendous creature, to fall to such despicable levels. Usually there is an unspoken rule against directing your assaults against the young, but it sounds like that whoever it is, comes from a place where such common decency is far from mind. At least for some.

And the array of things you mention, from a far away country... I am assuming portals were in use then, to transport such things? Incredibly troubling, if such an opening is there. Even if he were dealt with, what then if others, more shrewd and efficient villains attempted to do the same? They might succeed, where this wizard failed.

I can see why the princess had to be involved in this for certain. Not only due to diplomacy, but if you had to prepare for such attacks again, the princesses would surely had to be brought into the loop on things. Potential counter-active measure for such a thing, is not exactly small scale, or without consequences after all. Though it pleases me greatly to hear that it sounds as if you won the fight. I hope without casualties? And with no further issues from the creatures that were brought in to attack? I can perhaps be of some assistance, if you still have issues with some of the tree monsters you mentioned. Or the crystal spiders, for that matter. You might be surprised at what I am able to melt."

Magma had wrinkled her nose, and a small bit of dark smoke had escaped her nostrils, as she had heard of this attack on the city. Or more specifically, the school. Only monsters of the worst caliber would do such a thing, and bring the young into this fight so readily. Princesses be willing, this despicable act would not go without consequences, and Princess Celestia would demand the extradition of the one responsible, to face punishment. Proper one that were. Of the sort which did not get registered in public record.

Magma felt the energy too. It were stirring her mane, and making a vague pulse of light pulse through it, as the magma stirred beneath the surface. Not enough to case an issue though. It were merely the rush of energy being felt, which caused a small, bodily reaction. Hers were merely different, and involved a brief, surge. Sort of like getting chilled skin, though with less open pores, and more fire.

It also functioned well in distracting her from what she had been about to say, after she heard the stairs creak under the meaty frame of Bash, wandering up the stairs. it had not been anything bad though. Just a minor thing about the construction of the place, considering the mass of one of their employees, who would surely have to use these stairs a fair few times.

And there were certainly something that truly drew the eyes. Not the unicorn though. Magma barely registered the smaller female, with the pale coat.

The stunning mare next to her however, caught her eye, like a warning light going off on a panel back at the lab.

Tall, well trimmed, and brimming with energy. She almost oozed an aura of power, that made Magma feel a stirring in her body. Or perhaps that stir came more from just how stunning the captain were. She seemed almost as if she had been lovingly carved in marble, or painted upon a canvas, and presented in a way where one could not believe that showed off a real pony. How could it, when such stunning perfection were on display?

Even the attire draping the slender female seemed to be that much better, from being on her frame, rather than that of another. It just encapsulated her radiance so perfectly, that it were almost blinding.

It would probably not be the best first impression of Magma to the captain, that Minty's first view of the researcher, were the mare gawking at her, with a halfway slacking jaw. To say she were awestruck, would be somewhat of an understatement.

That Minty had a tussle with... Well, Tussle afterwards, did not stop the gawking. Nor would the cleaning spell that made short work of any mess in this place, or Minty's defensive tone. Magma did try to make herself say something at that point though, but a minor wheeze were all that escaped her, and that were about the only change going on. Her brain had apparently momentarily shut off. Likely not the first time Minty had caused this sort of reaction, considering how much work she put into her appearance.

Right, right. Grave had completely forgotten that they had taken the mirror along with them. Silly her. Good that the others had the forethought to handle this beforehoof, so that wasn't gonna cause a waste of time.

However, it being brought up that he needed rest, were fair too. He had fought in a fight that included primordial powers. That sort would surely take its tool, so maybe it were indeed best to have him lay off for a while The mirror wasn't taking off anyway. Probably.

"Ooooh, right. Sorry. Probably best if he gets a bit of rest, yeah. It's probably gonna be safe anyway. Geistwalking's pretty rare, and this far from home, I don't think too many would dare to try.  Most wouldn't be able to get that far, and you really, really don't want to be stuck in between. It's pretty terrifying when that happens."

She had tried to get stuck once. Only lasted about an hour in the real world, but it felt like days in there, desperately trying to find a mirror she could pass through, to escape the soul-crushing darkness of the place between. And there had been this odd feeling, the entire time she had been there. As if something were in the darkness, studying her. Observing. Waiting for it's time to do... Something. What she did not know, and she definitely didn't want to know. She were just happy when she finally managed to get through on the other side again, and after that, didn't try again for four months, as she had gotten rather paranoid about the whole thing, despite what her mother told her.

As for the officer, he did not seem like he wanted to rest on his laurels. She were more with the others, that he should still do it, but they seemed to give in. So if they humored him, she'd do the same, though she'd keep a close eye on him.

If he examined the mirror, Rising would find that the main magic that were still vaguely clinging to the mirror, came from someone unknown to him. A pony, who had cast this spell in a neutral, indifferent fashion, and it were just to keep track of the detective. It would link back to something else in Harrowmark, where the magic were still standing strong on, and if he were able to scrutiny it truly much, Rising would perhaps be able to find that this spell, were not one mainly focused on tracking him. Rather, it were there to momentarily stabilize a spell that had been redirected, and were still tracking a few targets in town. He might be able to use this imprint, to tell that one such mark, were near his home, while another were at the O.M.I. where the captain were currently being tracked.

But as for whom wee responsible, he'd likely find some answer, in the fact that a familiar, spectral energy, carrying a tinge of primordial magic, were also present. Even if not the one who had cast the spell, it seemed as if Thistle had been part in empowering it. Likely to ensure stability in the moment when they had to cling the spell to something else, after Rising had gone to a point where they had issues keeping up. Likely his sisters mansion.

So at least, it didn't seem to be an enemy tracking him. Potentially. It depended on what the high priestess plan were with this covert tracking, which she were placing upon the two powerful ponies from Equestria.

"Seeing anything special? Something familiar, maybe?"

"Magic is emotional sometimes. High ones, can make something flare up that triggers a reaction. In your case, it sounds like some sort of fire magic. Or potentially death magic. It's not as likely, but you'd be surprised how alike it looks like, if you look on a point where grass had the life sucked out of it, and where one had been quickly torched.

But let's think fire for now. If you saw a flame, it were probably that, depending on the color. You say you've never seen that in 200 years, yes? Makes me think it is because something have changed, which you haven't had in 200 years.

Tell me, what did you feel when you took off, and went back here? When the fire burst? Because I think it might have something to do with Charir and me. Like I said, magic can be emotional, and from what you've said, I don't think you've ever had anyone before us, that might have made you feel as if you had to go and help them. I think you'd be surprised how strong an emotion, and trigger, it can be when you feel protective of someone that matters to you. I've seen it break down barriers before."

Literally, sometimes. Once she had seen one whose wife got attacked, and the meek looking stallion, had kicked the thugs so hard, that they crashed right through a wall. And that were just a pony. Dragons had a lot more power in them than the equines, and if they were truly attached to something, they'd set the heaven's aflame to get it back. One of the reasons why it were seen as extremely foolish to steal from a dragons hoard, and that were just their possessions. If they had someone they felt further attached to than their items, trying to hurt them were the sort that led to scorched lands, and vindictive, multi-generational vengeance.

...Dragons were fairly unsubtle and unforgiving about things, frankly. It tended to be pretty easy to tell when someone had gotten on their bad side because of it. Your home and general area around it scorched, and your business torn down to the bare stone? More than likely a dragon.

That being said, it didn't mean it was easy to tell that you were so protective of others, and it manifested in different dragons, in different ways. For one like Ruby, who were not used to caring about others, it might be something she didn't even notice. And if she did, might have just brushed it off as something unimportant, or insignificant. Seeing as to how her upbringing had been, it weren't as if Leviathan couldn't understand that. It were a rather harsh, unforgiving way to get around it, with an emphasis on emotions being weak. Especially the sort one had for others.

But she may be wrong here too. It could just have happened that Ruby's magic accidentally chose now to show itself, or it were pure annoyance that caused it to pop. Magic could be rather fickle like that at times.

No mater what though Leviathan would move closer, and look up at the youngling, awaiting her answer.

"Yey, nature theater!"

Ziggy would bounce around, jolly as could be. At which point, Berry went over and had a sniff at her cup. She were getting a little uncertain if she had given Ziggy the right cup right now, but no, it were right enough. This were the decaff. How much energy did this lanky lass have exactly then? Jeez.

"It sounds like a really nice place, Nada. Where I'm from, we don't see stuff like that, but just big building, classic sorts of theater. And street theater too, but mostly the real things. They're nice and have lots of good seats, but the nature ones just have so much more charm. It's so nice and cozy."

"Weren't when we got there. Had a nasty infestation of some sort of sentient plant."

While the washing up were finished with, Berry would fill Ziggy in on what happened with the plant, what Lyriel had done, and what were supposedly happening with the place afterwards, as she had promised to fix the place up.

Judging by the look on Ziggy's face, she might as well have told a story about mighty foes, heroes, and magical treasure, to a little filly. It'd take a bit of time to get used to this mare, but she were a nice one. No issues there at least. Just a bit special.

"Waaauv. Sounds like you had a big, strange adventure. Must've been a mighty strange thing to see. And Lyriel is the dryad, right? Who talks to plants, and now have this big seedling... Must've been a sad thing for her."

"Well, she did cry."

"Awh, poor thing. Hopefully she'll be lots more happy now, and have done something special with the forest theater. I bet it's all flourishing and pretty already."

"I do not know. I fear attempting to gaze upon an irate one, and finding out.

Most of them holds no ire towards me, and I can safely gaze upon their imposing forms. Yet there are one, who wishes nothing good upon me, though I know not why. She speaks only in harsh words to me, and does not answer any questions I have of why she despises me, nor can I find these answers among her peers. I hope it is not her whom we are following, yet if it is, I fear my presence will only make this harder to do.

At least I feel certain that Crow should be as safe as you are, against her gaze at least. His eyes are made of rock as is. It should not be the case, that he can be affected as other beings tend to be."

She frankly didn't know what to do, if it were that one they would face. If it were any other, she were likely able to plead for mercy towards the griffon. Yet if she had to try reason with this one, it would first require her to find a way to make the irate basilisk talk with her, without being aggressive towards her. It might be a small monster, but it did not mean it were harmless by far. Not even if you avoided getting petrified.

Though after one of them had caused enough trouble to be dealt with by Fluttershy, they had mostly been keeping away from higher sentient beings. It had made them aware that there were things best kept away from, and they had been left alone in turn. Though it seemed like there were still a troublemaker among them on the loose now. Troubling tides...

"I understand if you aim to do something less than kind to the cockatrice, but I plead you to show restraint, Scarecrow. We will need it to release the poor griffon, along with whomever else may have been affected. I fear there may be more statues elsewhere."

As for the trail, it would lead them on, through bushes and brush, on the hunt for their target. It were impressive so fast it seemed to have moved, yet eventually, they'd still find it. The cockatrice, about a foal's size, and currently pecking at some acorns that had fallen on the ground. Considering the trail ended here, it were more than likely their target.

"Hello? May we please have a word?"

The cockatrice would hiss, and turn with red eyes as it heard the voice, only to be faced with Lyriel, who had now closed her eyes. And a few unknown elements. one of them being a hawk it seemed, that were looking down on the creature with narrowed, predatory eyes. Yet without turning to stone. It frankly made the cockatrice cluck in confusion, at which point, Lyriel let out a sigh of relief. It were not whom she had feared after all then.

"Be at ease all, please. This is Vivi. She are not the one whom I were afraid were here. Vivi, these are some friends of mine. We have come to ask you to please de-curse the griffon we found."

The cockatrice would start flapping her wings, clucking, and occasionally hiss, as she were apparently giving a lengthy explanation to Lyriel. Which did not seem to be a pleasant one, judging from the facial expression of her. There may be some bad news here. Even more so, if Scarecrow would try and attack the cockatrice, rather than let Lyriel attempt reason. He'd get some rather harsh pecking in his face then.

"Oooh. Whoops. Sorry for that, though it is also smart to have your family with you in times like this."

So she seemed to have missed a bit on thinking that Writer were her coltfriend. But he were still somepony close to her, that could keep her company currently, so the sentiment would still fit. And as it didn't seem like Quill took it bad, beyond getting a bit flustered, they were fine. Just had to move past it, and focus on the important part, before the color change on Quill's face would expand, and turn her how pink all over. Even if that would look pretty cool, in Blaze's opinion.

As the offer to get a letter sent off to him were accepted though, the way forth were already picked. So Blaze would go over and get another pen, envelope, and paper, for Quill to write on. Soon as she had done that, Blaze would close the letter, and make sure the address on the envelope were set right, before putting it in her pocket.

"Alright, I'll go send it right away, and tell them to try and rush this. I will be back soon."

She'd be back within fifteen minutes. Surely Quill couldn't get herself in too much trouble in that amount of time, right?

"I think after the day we had, we'd both best get something to eat. Let's see if we can't find a calm place to eat, that's somewhat nearby, okay?"

There'd be several options nearby, and only one of them would be one of those high end, overly pricey ones. Three others were a haydog parlor, a restaurant/grill for families and groups primarily, and a place that seemed to specialize in rice, soup, and stew dishes. All of them were reasonably priced, and would provide a fine meal, though which one they'd go for, were up to Windy.

And as for Tepe... It weren't yet time to tell him the truth, but if he could eat, she'd try to include him here. It seemed rude not to, at this point, even if it were likely to just pass through him. Or get crushed into a small paste and discarded, after all the energy were drained from the food. Ghosts eating tended to be messy either way.

Windy finally made a decision “I think we should eat at the one with soup. I love soup” she guessed restaurant for families are expensive while the haydog parlor is... Well, not lame but she wanted soup for afternoon. She and a absent-minded Tepe went inside the restaurant. She quickly found an available table for them and began looking through a flyer while Tepe sat across the table, starting at the wonderbolt.

“No instincts for eating fish like a starving longma in a food storage hut, so no need to worry about lapping up the little pool you’ve got there. Seeing as I’m still unfamiliar with these tools, even getting something on the bottom shelf will be achievement enough. Best of luck to us, Omen!”

Lin picked up a fishing rod, though she was still a little clueless about how to use it. By the looks of the items, she assumed that there was some kind of loop at the end to pick up the fish. No lethal methods allowed, and the fish will probably want to be put back in the water, so claws are a no-go for her. She’d try bobbing it up and down to see if the fish are attracted to that kind of movement.

Sen used to teach her about how to precisely strike a fish as it was passing by. Where one would swim by, the spear would need to be aimed a little higher, as there was some distortion in the water. Most notably, little ones cannot be caught as they needed to grow. In this case, the rods will have to do, and the longma would watch the other players and see what else she could learn from them.

Meanwhile, Sen took his time with the crossbow in the next round. It didn’t seem like it would affect his aim and performance too much, but it felt like carrying a box and letting it do the shooting. Seemed simple enough but given the first few points he earned, it told a different story.

“Hey, anything that leads to improvement is already a good thing. Though I don’t suppose diplomacy works the same way. We could spend hours just trying to get the basics right, but I doubt merciless pushing is going to get us anywhere. I guess that’s the one thing that’s going to matter a lot moving forward.”

“Then again, who knows what the future will bring.”

Sen took aim and his first bolt would still land on the 2-point ring. His second shot was shakier, and even his breathing still influenced the crossbow’s sway. By some miracle, that one got him 3 points instead of something less. Once more, Sen tried the breathing exercise but this time, he held back on exhaling until he got his sights set on the center. He carefully loosed his shot, and it flew straight and true, but holding his breath a little too long caused him to fire at the wrong moment. HIs last bolt saw improvement, but not as much as he’d like. That last shot got him 5 points.

“That turned out better than I thought, but my timing’s still off. Maybe you could try holding your breath to steady yourself until you are ready. Then once you’ve got aim right, fire the bolt just before you exhale. That’s what I was going for and it really just boils down to timing. Perhaps that will help you get more consistent results?”

"You want to bring more? Very well, but it will be your own fault if this goes sideways"
After saying so, Skall made sure to walk ahead of them, so if they were captured he could be the first out the door.

of course the doors would likely be closed if they were to be captured, but Skall was far too confident to believe that.

Steelbeak smiled at her, glancing to Rose.
"Let us begin then, I will return soon with the body of the element wielder"

Extending his wings, his blood seemed to extend out, deep red glyphs glowed as he teleported in a burst of red energy.

Rose rolled her eyes as she slumped back, groaning.
"Of course he leaves, I imagine we won't see him again. Might as well get that body for him when he returns."
She twirled her finger as a portal opened, to a graveyard.
"Unless you have other plans?"

You have your whole life left, so much to do, so much time to do it.

Use it wisely; Because you will never get a second chance.

"I was mostly pissed off, being tricked like that." Ruby said with a shrug, she didn't know enough to realize that there was different kinds of anger, so she didn't connect that to be anything new "Though the situation seemed to fuel my anger even more, but I didn't really have time to think about it so I can't say I know why that was, could be related to the similarities to a certain thing." her tone of voice should have been enough to tell Leviathan what Ruby meant "I think my greed kicked in too, didn't like him stealing you." she was deep in thought as she spoke, she needed to really think back to remember things she hadn't really paid attention to "Not that I think I own you, it's more a principle thing I think, i don't even need to like something to take it back from a thief." hard to tell if that was true or if she was just trying to rationalize it to herself "One thing I can say was weird though, my instinct told me to get you out rather than attack, that's why we are here and not there. That was the first time running away has been the first option."  this was now second time when her instincts had acted weird, first with Charir, and now this, why was she suddenly saving everyone?

------------------------------------------
Nada stayed quiet as Berry explained what had happened "I hope so too, which reminds me, I should probably go see her again at some point, see how she is doing after the Timberwolf attack" "But that aside, I can bring you to the place at some point after it's done, if nothing else, I could share bit of my history while there, it's probably one of the last things that is left relatively unchanged from that time." sure the princesses could be counted in that too but, well, living creatures were bit different than places.

----------------------------------------
Scarecrow just listened quietly, only saying "I have no interest in harming creatures." after Lyriel's comment regarding his intent, and this was a promise he also kept when they found the creature, the most he would have done would have been blocking the cockatrice's eyes if Lyriel would have started turning into stone, but since that didn't happen, he would just stand there looking at the creature silently.

He wouldn't have attacked the thing even if Lyriel hadn't said it was a friendly one, because while he had no compassion for any of the forest's creatures, or creatures in general, he also didn't have any wish to harm them without reason, and in this case, such action wouldn't have done any good for anyone, he took no joy nor pity out of pain, at least not in emotional level.

"Let me guess, not cooperative."

"Quite a thing, to be treasured that much. I appreciate that, and hope you know that the feeling is mutual, Ruby. Thoughts of those hunters taking either of you away, makes me irrationally possessive and irritated. And knowing they weren't there, counter-acts any of the general annoyance I might have felt normally, being subjected to another kitsune-cast sleep spell. Honestly quite relieved it's not worse than it turned out to be.

Or I could say this another way: Remember how I wanted to show you, that someone cared about you? Well, what you're feeling, and doing? To me that sounds like you're embracing that too now, and cares about someone else too. To a point where you care more about protecting them, than to avenge them being taken in the first place.

Don't be alarmed, it won't hurt you. In some ways, it can make you stronger, though I hadn't expected that to be so literal, as to being your gateway to magic. That is a rather surprising development."

Leviathan had a big, genuine smile on her reptilian face, as she responded to Ruby. She had honestly figured it'd take longer before this sort of feeling became part of Ruby, but she were pleased with how it went. Though she imagined Ruby weren't entirely. Pesky feelings and attachments, clashed with her upbringing, but hopefully she'd come around with it in time.

"It's been a while. I'm sure she's gotten a lot better since then, and have just been right busy with the forest. Can't imagine the matriarch rummaging around, would make things easier for those living in the forest. She's a big girl. Gotta cause big trouble when she starts going around."

It had certainly caused a good deal of worry and confusion from certain beings, but it seemed to have overall gone well, as the matriarch had not been heard from since. More than likely, Gretchen had been satisfied with her control, and returned to the deep parts of the woods, where she could be in peace from pesky ponies.

"Yey, deal! Whenever you want to show me, I'd be super happy to see the forest theater.

*gasp* Does that mean we get to see your friend too?! I bet dryad hugs are gonna feel fun. Like embracing a big log of wriggly wood. Or a bitey plant, but with less chomping."

"Not entirely, and I have a hard time holding that against her, considering the circumstances. It leaves me with a rather... Sensitive issue."

Vivi would cluck at her again, and look suspiciously towards Scarecrow, and especially Crow, who locked eyes with the cockatrice. It did not back down that easily, and especially not against something this small.

"I believe they are safe, yes."

Vivi did not seem fully convinced, but she went back to the bushes she had been nearby before, and rummaged around, until she dragged a nest out, with four, slightly-green tinted, onyx eggs within.

"...This were what the griffon sought, when she were surprised, and Vivi retaliated against the egg thief.

Which is where my dilemma comes in.

I am sworn to protect the forest, and the animals within, to the best of my abilities. And considering how rare it is for these mystical creatures to spawn eggs, I would not want anyone to simply steal them. The little lives are needed to grow and flourish, though I do not believe the griffon thought of it in this way.

On the other hoof, I cannot simply abide by letting her sit where she is, and remain petrified. It does not seem right, even for an egg thief, and I do not wish to be faced with more creatures, turned inanimate, when they could be saved. Yet then, what would stop her from trying again, if she were freed? How can one safely ensure she receives punishment for her act, and do not attempt it again? Or simply leave them be?

You have been here long, Scarecrow. Knowing the lays of the land, what would you think should be done? I do not wish for either side to be harmed, yet I find myself hard pressed to beg for mercy, for one whom were aiming to take away preciously rare younglings. Might you have a suggestion?"

"My servant, my responsibility. A reasonable view on this.

Though remember, that Tirek is your mess to clean up after too. He's not known to be much of a subtle creature, once he have some power in his hands."

Noises would come from below as they wandered, seemingly indicating that something were stirring. A guard of sorts to come for them, he could imagine. A pity for them then, that they had already reached the exit, and this were then about to be beyond their domain.

"Cerberus. Throw them through, then remain here. I'm sure that Hades will soon enough learn what happened, and he will not be pleased if you're gone."

Tirek and the caged prisoner, would be dropped off outside of the entrance, which would also present their opening to leave. One which Grogar were taking, though if Skall wished to stay here, he were free to. Hades were sure to have things to show him, if he caught the treacherous dragon right now.

As a last act, Grogar would tear out some of his own goatee, and left it near Cerberus. It would tell what had happened, and leave his creation free of blame. Hades would not judge him, for following orders from the king of beasts. He knew Cerberus would be unable to disobey.

After that, he took the cage on his back, and left Tirek to be dealt with by Skall. His pet, his weight to carry. And it couldn't be so bad, compared to this heavy, metal cage. He looked forward to ditch this, soon as he yanked his potential tool out of said cage.

"Are you done then, dragon?"

Emerald would watch his spell in motion, and note to herself how he did it. Or how she suspected he did it at least. She'd need to research it further later on, but it were an interesting way of doing it. May be interesting to use, and she wouldn't ignore a well cast blood spell when she saw it.

"Why not? It seems a good evening for this. Have you a shovel we can use perhaps? I like to do this the old fashioned way."

The offer of a grave robbing were enticing, and she were more than okay with digging one up. Yet first and foremost, they needed to find a compatible one for parts. Something which she'd had to seek out via magic, before they started excavating.

This would be rather grizzly if they were found out, but really, a corpse were just a left over shell. After death, the soul moved on. And without that, the body were simply reagents. Not any different from when you used the dried wings of bats really.

Omen would be observing how others did it, as the rules were read. Especially the fishing rods, as they seemed to have a small loop at the end, meant to get around the fish, before you yanked them up. This sort of snare, she understood. She had seen it in many ways throughout the ages, with Discord enjoying one on occasion too.

The other tools seemed harder to understand, and somewhat cumbersome to deal with. So she'd stick with this idea instead.

"Luck be yours too, Lin."

She were pretty sure she said this one right, though Omen were more focused on getting started, and trying something that she might thing worked. As gates had been cheating the other game, she supposed it were here too, so she wouldn't use that. However, a line with a loop at the end, seemed to be okay, and what she had in mind, hadn't been set as against the rules.

So she put her head near the water, and stared in into it, before letting her tongue out, and have it slither down into the pool, like an over-sized worm.

Didn't take long before one of them got curious and went closer, only for said tongue too loop around it, and pull the fish up. Twenty seconds flat, which seemed to impressed the shop owner a fair bit.

"Uh... Unconventional, but it isn't against the rules. Let's see if you can catch the other ones too then."

Omen would let the fish go again, and it would swim away, right over towards where Lin were. She'd probably be able to catch this, whilst Omen went over and got closer to the second fish. Though there'd be a delay there, since someone else caught it. her tongue would be laying below in the water, waiting like a big snake, for its prey to come down.

It seemed they had managed to find a game that Omen might actually ace in. They'd see if Lin could keep up. If nothing else, perhaps she'd get to see how the leash was supposed to work, and deal with that. Maybe take advantage of the fish being distracted by others, or swimming from them, to get ready to take them in.

It seemed simple, but there tended to be a good deal of strategy in this game, actually.

"It's all a question of balance. Push too much, and you will break it. Be too lose, and it will leave your grasp. Diplomacy is no different here. You cannot be a pushover, just as much as you can't go and demand the world on a silver platter. You need to focus on some core things, and try to push that through, whilst being respectful of opposite opinions, and what they might try to do. Though not enough to give away most of your ground.

Be reasonable. Be respectful. And accept that you won't win all the time. Some beings are simply not possible to reach an understanding with.

As for lectures on it, I find trial by fire to be efficient, so I'd give you some literature, tutor you a few times, and then bring in an actual diplomat, for you to face off against. More than likely, it would not go well for you, and it would then highlight where the key points we need to work with are. As well as ensure that you do not get too comfortable, and consider your current level of skill to be sufficient. Resting on ones laurels, are for veterans. Not apprentices. Heh."

Rosa would go over this, after Sen had shot, to make sure that he did not interrupt, nor distract. And it were quite some good shots. A solid 10 points for the longma, who were getting better and better with every shot. Perhaps something to replicate, yes? It were getting somewhat silly how far behind he were getting now.

"The recoil is my issue. Muscle memory tells me that when I have this pressure on, to fall back with it, to prepare for strike back. Which then in turn, messes with my aim. I'm certain that I'll manage to some degree eventually. I merely need some time. Though perhaps more than we have here. As mentioned before, this is not a favored tool of mine. I believe the knife throwing proved where my expertise lays."

Still, he'd do better this time, as all bolts would be on board. The first being in a single point, yet the second, would narrow in, and be in a straight line from the first, and further in, towards a three pointer. Steadying himself at the same angle, he'd fire a third, and hoped to get a five pointer in this row, but had to settle for an almost, hence getting a four.

In total, 8 points for him. Lesser than Sen, but he were not too far behind. The game were still to play for. Now it were just to see if he recalled the exact placement for the next time.

@Windy Breeze

"I wonder if they have curry soup? I haven't had that since my pretend date with my dad's boss. Tasty stuff.

Oh uh... It wasn't a date really. And my dad's boss is only a few years older than me. It was just a sort of fancy night thank you for helping him with some trouble at his home. He figured a fancy evening would be a nice way to do that. And it were pretty good too, though high society is a weird place. Ended up finishing the night at a local place in Canterlot, eating some curry to sorta ease us back to things. Nice and spicy."

It really had been a night to remember, though it were still kinda weird with his cousin. She still weren't sure why Rose had looked so hurt, when Smoke had asked her out in a completely friendly, platonic gesture. Nor why she had been tense around her the next few weeks.

Meh. She were probably just worried about him. From what he had told her, she had always been a bit concerned when he hung around other mares, ever since they were small. It were just one of her quirks, as he called it. Along with a few other weird things, but Rose were still nice and kind in general. She just seemingly had her moments, for weird reasons that neither of them understood.

Unless somepony messed with her garden. Bad idea! She were very proud of her gardening, and hated when others seemingly tried to ruin it.

When they got to the soup place, and found a nice, available table Sorrow would follow troop, and check the flyer. And lo and behold, they had curry! With... what did it say... Habanero garlic, and ghost reaper loafs? Sounded fun, she'd try that. It were probably something pale and mellow to compliment the curry, she bet.

Windy also found her own food: a green stew with tofu. Her tongue slipped out of her mouth and she began to drool. Tepe chuckled at her antics.

“Windy, your dripping saliva into the flyer” he told her with a smirk, which successfully snapped her out of her gaze and quickly wiped the drool of the flyer.

“So, what do you guys want to order?” Windy asked Sorrow and Tepe.

“Let me take a look of the flyer” Windy gave the flyer to Tepe and began looking for any food he found delicious.

Lin examined how Omen was going about trying to catch a fish and what she did was… well, there really wasn’t much of an appropriate word for what she was doing. Out-of-the-box was probably the best thin to come to mind, and that was likely what was going on in some of the spectators. Even then, Lin was a lot more distracted by what happened as Omen managed to catch a fish using this method, so much so that she didn’t even notice the nibbling on her rod.

By then, she only saw that in the last moment and yanked upward, managing to catch the same one Omen caught just moments earlier. By then, though, she was a little more surprised that she managed something like it.

“Whoa! Hehe, beginner’s luck I guess? Though I think you are a lot luckier if you could catch a fish and make it look easy. You sure you haven’t done this before?”

The longma took the fish off her line and showed it to the booth owner before tossing it back into the pool. No matter what Lin would think of her first success, it was high time she got serious about the game now. Omen’s the one to beat, but getting used to the rod and learning its techniques is just as important.

Sen, in the meantime, would nod and keep Rosa’s words in mind. He’d remember that the thestral’s technique was similar to how the hunt master taught him. Tough, intense, and really loud. Practice was always how things went with him, and being able to live up to very high standards was something that didn’t always sit right with him. No matter how well anyone performed, it was never enough. Rosa sounded like he’d take a similar approach, though it would be on a more reasonable level.

For now, Sen would start to feel a little more comfortable with the crossbow, seemingly getting used to the weight and getting his balance right. If he could maintain that while keeping his aim straight and compensating for gravity, he’d be closer to getting the technique right.

His first shot veered off to the right, earning him 4 points. The second one landed a good ways downward on a 3-point zone. Not great but it could’ve been worse. The last one fared much better as he earned himself 5 points. As much as Sen was getting some decent shots in, the cumbersome size of the crossbow wasn’t something he will easily get used to. Tools like this just weren’t a thing back home.

“There’s probably something more to this than just being able to hold the crossbow right and aim properly. Maybe starting off with a proper stance and allowing the body a certain degree of flexibility? Gotta try that next round.”

“You know, getting a diplomat to try my skills against sounds interesting, but I have a feeling that I’m going to have to deal with something similar once I return home. You probably remember mentions of Elder Ghilan being summoned by the Council of Elders back home? I’m afraid Lin and I will get dragged into that too. Dealing with them is already tough, but dealing with them will skill and care? That’ll be a really tough bar to clear, even with the things you've given us.”

Ruby stayed quiet for a while, most likely thinking, though it was hard to tell since she wasn't showing any clear emotion, and meanwhile Charir just followed the conversation with tilted head, he had no idea what was being said, but the tone of the words said were rather unusual for dragons in his little experience, and while Ruby was hard to read, the way Charir looked at her told of something he could notice that he didn't expect. After a moment of silence Ruby spoke again "As ridiculous as I find the idea, I can't really argue with it." she sounded almost ashamed when she said it "I can't come up with any other explanation to things that has taken place lately, both in my mind and in my actions." It would also explain the magic, and could be related to why she had never fully agreed with her own upbringing, she had always chalked it up to spite due to her hatred of her mother, but maybe she just was weaker than she thought.

But as Leviathan had guessed, Ruby wasn't exactly pleased about it, but she wasn't angry either, it was more of a reluctant acknowledgement, she looked at her own claws "And I must admit that I cannot bring myself to harm you two, I cannot explain it, but it serves as evidence of something." "A weakness of some sort."  she then looked at Leviathan "So I guess you were right."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nada shrugged "Maybe we will, maybe we wont, depends on her really." she explained "She's one of those creatures that you can only find if she wants you to find her, though I don't see any reason why she would purposely hide from you." she didn't really know where she would even start looking for Lyriel if she didn't just happen to be around, nor did she know any way to call her over for such reason. "But the forest is a big place, even with part of being made of sand now, and if I understood right, she's taking care of it alone for now, so she's a busy....creature, so while it's possible you could meet her, I can't promise you will." she wasn't sure if she should call Lyriel a creature or plant, or plant-creature, mare she wasn't since the pony form was just that, a form.

--------------------------------------------
"This griffon brought this to herself with her actions, and in full honesty, if I would have seen this happen, I may have just left her like this, because if you purposely poke a bear, I won't come to chase that bear away." Scarecrow admitted, this is why he had always talked about innocent creatures when it came to him helping them, those who seek to harm the forest should bear the responsibility.  "But, in this case, leaving her here could also bring harm to Vivi, since we don't know if someone with same intentions may be looking for her." "I have two ideas that come to mind right away, though in both cases it would probably be good for Vivi to relocate her eggs in case the griffon or someone she knows comes back." "First is to do what I always do with these...living statues, carry her outside the forest so that ponies can figure it out, it would keep her away at least for some time since I believe reversing this takes time." "The other option is that you step out of the view, Vivi frees the griffon, and I scare her in my real form, I can claim to be some kind of protector of the forest or something. The worst case scenario from that would bring trouble only for me, which isn't really a problem since nobody can do anything to me."

"I observe."

The fish that'd be let down by the one who caught it, swamp quickly away from the area, and Omen followed it in tow. She could have taken it just as it landed in the water again, but it felt like that might be cheating, yes? As she said, she observed beings. And around her, she saw no one else who did this sort of thing, so that must mean there were if not a written rule, then an unspoken one.

Discord always told her, that rules existed to be broken, unless it were rules that he made. Then only he were allowed to break, or change them.

But this wasn't his world anymore. There were rules, and even he had been living by some new ones, when she met him. The yellow mare had changed him to fit their world some, and Omen were no better. She were after all, a servant. In some fashion, she needed rules, and guidance, to function properly, and not merely wander with little aim to her actions.

Sen, Lin, and Rosa, were helping her conform to the world better, and teach her some of the rules. If not by words, then action, as she saw them follow some trends, which she then in turn would try and replicate. If she understood them, that were. She'd like to understand why something were as it were, in advance sometimes. even if at times, she merely did it, and tried to find meaning in it later. Especially if it seemed like what she did, would stop her friends from being hurt. She didn't need a reason beyond not wanting them to get hurt, to do something then.

To return to the fish however, she did not see anyone stand ready to nick a fish from someone just as it got back in the water, so she assumed it were against the rules. Not that it mattered. Even if she had to chase it a little, and her tongue almost got caught by someone else, she'd still eventually grab hold of the fish, and lift it briefly out from the water, so that the owner could see it, before returning it to the pool. This one would be a good deal away from Lin, and swim in another direction, so she wouldn't be as lucky with this one, as the one she had just caught, unfortunately.

"No violence. Simple rules. I think I like this game."

"Well, you're sure a natural at it. You're just one fish of from getting your choice at the prime shelf now, and you still got nearly two minutes to go. But be warned: Mildew ain't as easy to get hold off. Slippery like an eel that one.

And I saw you there. 1 point for you, just within the time limit. Think you can catch up to your friend?"

The owner grinned, and looked down on the fish. Yeast - the fish they had both caught - were swimming far from them. As were Wheat, who wanted to get away from Omen. And as for Mildew, she were currently frustrating a bunch of beings, as she were quickly and nimbly, swimming about an area where a trio of ponies were trying to trap her with the strings. She'd just toy with them, and clearly had the upper fin, as they ended up having the wires tangled up, rather than catch the fish, that swam about, trying to find a new one to mess with. Probably the fish to worry about, though Wheat would get closer to Lin first. It seemed as if this one, did not want to be in the same area as Mildew. They had been trained to spread out, to make it more fair, and Mildew were essentially their alpha. So if she wanted to be somewhere, the rest had to move.

This one were tricky, as Wheat stuck to the edge, but made a wide circle when someone got close. However, if Lin utilized a distraction, like one of the smell, floating balls that were among the allowed tools, or potentially a board to block the path some, she might be able to lure the fish into a trap.

"Remain steadfast against them, Sen. Speak to them respectfully, but do not allow them to simple step on you, and hide that behind traditions, as well as things going well enough for them right now. The world is a constantly changing beast, and if history is an indicator of anything, it is that those who refuse to change at least a little with it, will be devoured by it. This is not a matter of wanting to expose your kind to dangers, by having outsiders know of your existence. It is about survival, and understanding that a time will come when the they wither have allies to call upon, or will be remembered only far into the future, when eventually some explorers comes around and find the ruined towns, and remains of who lived there.

Maybe your race will survive. It sounds as if there exiles out there, and some of those might have managed to meet, and begun families of their own out here. Yet it will be a slow, grueling progress to get the longma away from near extinction, and those values, and traditions, that your elders cling so desperately to? They will be nothing more, than faded text in a museum. A mere testament to hubris, put on display for others to gawk at."

Were this somewhat harsh? Probably, but if he had to relay more words to their elders, it would be a message akin to this, to try and get through their thick skulls, that the more they clung to isolation, the higher the chance were that they'd eventually get swept away, and lose everything. Sure there might be some exiles out there, and their race might go on, but why would they ever take up the traditions of their kind? Those had gotten them thrown out into a world they were unfamiliar with, all on their own. What value did those have to the exiles? For the majority, he'd wager the answer to be none.

"I am not attempting to belittle your culture. I see flaws in it, but that is true in all others as well. There is simply no perfect system, nor culture, in the known world.

My aim is merely to try and show that the world - as grim as it can sometimes be - cannot take your needs and tragedies into consideration, when you refuse to function with it. When your forest seems abandoned, then what is to stop some from transporting dangerous beasts there, to make that a wildlife reservation? How are loggers to know which trees are off limits, when there is no word of any creature that claims ownership of the area? What diseases might not spread from creature to creature, that could have been solved with a remedy, made decades ago elsewhere?

The world is an ugly place, but much as there are bad things to get from it, then so are there things you will need. Long as you remain steadfast that you wish to remain mostly by yourself, and do not wish to have influences on your culture, you can function mostly as you do now. It will just be with backup, and consideration of territory, when it comes to for example, relocating things, or warn of travelling monsters..

I can imagine at worst, there would be some united issues with certain laws, that they'd wish to discuss. That being mostly related to ways that you punished criminals. Mostly they would let you do as is suitable for your kind, but there are four main topics that will come up:

Prolonged incarceration for minor offenses.

The death penalty.

Torture.

And of course, exile.

Those four, they will question if they note it is happening. The first being the lesser of the issues, and just be calls for you to see reason, if for example you took one whom had stolen an apple, and put them in prison for several years. I have not heard something thus far, which indicates you do that, so I don't think there is much to worry for there. Unless you make actual slaves out of your prisoners, in which case it will be quite the issue, as that is considered intolerant in the modern world. Working off your crime is fine, but you cannot make property out of your own kin. That is considered highly troublesome, to put it mildly.

As for the others, I believe it obvious why point two and three are issues, and as for the exile... The zebras remain able to do so, but it is somewhat tolerated as it is an extreme, rare occasion. And often when it does happen, it is because someone truly is a great danger to them.

I can imagine that if you insist on keeping the tradition of exile, they will ask to at least have them exiled to a particular country, which would be open to having them. Equestria for example, prides itself in reforming criminals, and be inclusive. They might wish to make a sanctuary for the lost souls that have been expelled."

While he talked, Rosa would shoot again, and this time, get three bolts rather close to one another, in a triangle fashion. Scoring him two 4's and a 5. An improvement, though none of them had thus far, scored higher than a five. Surely Sen would have to correct that mistake soon, yes? They couldn't have it like the darts or archery games, where neither of them were able to hit the middle. Had to be at least one of them that would show the needed skills to get the perfect bullseye, and it might well be Sen then.

They'd see. They had time for three rounds each more, before moving on to the next one, seeing as reloading took a fair bit of time. Still plenty of chances for them to prove themselves to one another.

"I wanna try this nice curry soup. It sounds delicious. And... I dunno, probably some Drizzle Dew too."

Drizzle Dew were a kind of non-carbonated soda, that had a high sweetness level, and tended to go well with mild to medium spices. Higher than that, and it weren't any sort of help on the burn, but it were pretty tasty. One of the sweeter drink that one could get, outside of actively drinking pure nectar, and that were a rarity to find as restaurants. It were more a kind of specialized product you could only find at certain vendors, as the market for this were rather slim. Unless you had hummingbirds, or certain kinds of small critters. It were pretty popular in those cases.

"Mind me asking what sorta food got you all tingly and drooling, Windy? Must be your favorite, when it makes you start spilling, hehe."

Looking at the list, she'd guess... Rainbow Macaroni. She knew that to be pretty popular with pegasi, and as one herself, she could attest that it were pretty good. It just wasn't on the same level as curry, in her mind. But hey. Different folks, different tastes, right?

=======================================================

@Catpone Cerberus

"To me, it's not weak to care. And frankly, you were wiser for just taking off, even if it were by instinct. Battles with kitsune are time consuming, and often doesn't give any satisfaction, as they tend to leave before you can finish them off. And that is after a prolonged, annoying fight, full of mirages and magic being slung around. I really don't know anyone, who have fought those creatures, who comes away from it and feels satisfied.

But enough about those. They're gone. I'd rather talk to you about your newfound emotions at some point. When you feel comfortable about that. I can see that you're not overly pleased with it right now, but I hope that in time, you'll get to understand that you aren't weak, just because you can open up to others. Pretty sure that you could still rip a creature from tail to ear, were the situation to arise. Caring about others doesn't stop that, and in fact, might give you motivation, that helps to push you.

Still, I can wait to talk about this. if you need time to mull it over, I understand. It takes time to accept change for our kind. Dragon Lord knows I've been resilient to things many a time too. I imagine it is going to be hard for Charir too, once he starts to understand things around him, and have to adapt. Probably going to need to start teaching him what is and isn't food, before he tries to chase a plumb looking pony, or someone's pet. Among other things."

Charir did seem to observe his half sister more or less constantly it looked like, and had an interesting look going over his face. Perhaps he too could sense, that something were new with her? Hopefully if he did, he'd begin to understand too that it was in a good way, and one day she'd hopefully be able to convince them of that.

Maybe it'd help them both, if Leviathan showed some affection? The moment felt right, so why not take the leap and try?

So she would wander the last few steps over to Ruby, and place her head against the larger dragoness' front leg. The size difference meant that she couldn't even reach her shoulders without standing on her hind legs, and that wasn't the plan here. Leviathan wanted to stay on all fours as she did this and had her head brush against her friend with a smile on her face.

"Maybe we should all go and do something fun to lighten the mood. Want to go smash some things up?"

====================================================================

@Catpone Cerberus

"Ooooh. So the stories about dryads are true then? They help the forest, and protect the cutesy little animal bahbees?"

"I swear, if any more glee comes over your voice doc, you're gonna start dripping pure sugar."

It was true. When thinking about small, cute things, Ziggy got so gleeful, that it almost radiated from her. And when she actually held something small and cute, like say, a lot of siren foals, like she had when visiting Serenade's family, it got disturbingly infectious.

But hey, good that the doc could keep happy, and see the light side of things, in Berry's mind. Weren't easy to do when you knew the truth of the world, like she did.  Sure she still felt fine, and had her moments of happiness, but there were always that thought in the back of her mind That little tingle of paranoia that kept her aware, and made her able to see the links that others just weren't able to, or claimed weren't there.

Poor, short-minded creatures. In time they'd have to face the truth. She'd make sure of it, when she exposed The Conspiracy for them all to see.

Ziggy's mind were less cluttered with this kind of thing. She were just imagining a tree pony with baby squirrels running around on her. That were basically it for the next little bit of time, until she spoke up.

"Oh, uuuh, think I zonked out for a bit there. Anyway, dryad friend. She sounds reeeally busy, if she's the only one looking out for things. Especially after the huuuuge timberwolf went around, and there came a desert part. Must be real stressful too. I hope she remembers to relax sometimes to get some steam out. It's not healthy to get stressed too much.

Maybe I'll ask her when I see her someday? Not If not sooner, then later. Have to be some point eventually when she isn't working hard, though I totally get what you mean, with her being real busy. Especially now. I hope the animals appreciate all she's doing for them.

You sure get a lot of varied friends, huh Nada? Dryads, princesses, zegasi, barista's, dragons, bunnies- All sorts."

===================================================================================

@Catpone Cerberus

Lyriel would listen carefully, and weigh her options in this matter. It were a tough choice really. Not the one with the bear as an example, since she had to agree on some level, that it were foolish to go and jump head first into your own demise. It were more regarding this particular situation, and considering what were at stake here, it were a tough decision. Yet it were not hers to bear, and thankfully, Vivi were more than happy to cluck her own opinion on this matter, whilst flapping her wings annoyed.

"Your words are wise. Both of you. Yet as Vivi says, it is imperative that we find out if there are more of her ideals nearby, rather than leave her be, or scare her from this forest. We must bring her to the town, and have them return her to her former self, whilst informing them of her ill deeds. I pray they will be understanding, and make her answer these questions. If not, I will feel forced to ask them of her myself. If that too fails.. I do not wish to bring you into this if need be, Scarecrow, but I may yet take you up on the offer to truly frighten her, if nothing else works.

Though I hope it will not come to that. As you have indicated before, it is best if you are not exposed to too many, though my worries are more towards those who might come to hunt you, rather than your safety. I have no doubts that they would not be able to truly harm you, yet they would pester you, and I can imagine that false stories will run rampant, if you are more widely known in this manner. I think it best to use subtlety here. For now at least.

Return to the flock Vivi, and give them my best. I will pray that the Earth Mother will smile upon your hatchlings, and hatch them strong and healthy."

She'd give a deep bow before the cockatrice after she said this, and give a prayer in her native tongue. Which sounded like a mild breeze, flowing through fallen leaves. Something which Vivi responded with by giving of a singular cluck, and bending her neck a little too, before being on her way again. Well, she'd give a hiss towards Crow before leaving, which it would respond to in kind, with a hiss of its own. And as for Scarecrow... She would give him a narrowed look, but say or do nothing else, as she went on her way. She did not know what to think of him yet, though his pet were instinctively something she did not like. It looked dangerous to her eggs.

When she had waddled away, Lyriel would get up in an upright position again, and turn towards Scarecrow.

"Would you be okay lifting her there, once we return to the statue? I could see if there might be a bear or something of similar strength nearby, which might help us otherwise."

“I can see you’ve got talent. That and you’ve probably got good eyes and instinct. Keep that up and you’ll be bringing home something form the top shelf. As for me? I’ll probably settle for something less, or maybe I’ll try snagging another fish just so I can feel better about myself.”

Lin noticed the booth’s owner grinning at her, then looking at the pool. She smiled back and nodded, though she would take another look at the shelf on the second rung. It was tempting to go for two more, but there was time and better prizes. Might be a good idea to grab a little something more for the home. At that point, there was probably going to be a lot more space for decorating, even if it was just for a personal room. The most Lin had was a floor mat and a desk, and there was some space to fill.

The longma would take some of Sen’s lessons and see the movements of the fish. Beneath the surface was one more swimming in her direction. With other players trying to attract the other fish’s attention, this one seemed content to swim away. Sometimes, the quiet would suffice, and Lin waited patiently. The line lay slack and the longma sat still, eyes watching for the opportunity. She had a board and a ball nearby. With one wing, she slowly nudged it to the side, hoping to distract the fish. She’d ready herself to cut off its avenues of escape.

Meanwhile, Sen watched as Rosa’s bolts flew straight into a near-accurate shape. Consistent and proven that this would get the longma to try and one-up him. Once he had his bolt loaded, Sen stepped up and took aim, planning to make this shot break the limit of five points that he and Rosa are making. One deep breath in, and he loosed the bolt, finding its way to a 7-point zone.

“Ha! That was much better than expected.” Sen would take aim and fire two more times, earning him 5 and 6 points.

“I find it hard to believe the elders will want to exile someone in the hopes that they’d be reformed. Exile is basically getting rid of an unwanted element and leaving them to fend for themselves, especially if they’ve got nowhere or no one to turn to. As the saying goes, ‘out of sight, out of mind.’ Yet there was always something off about the practice, all the more evident when someone decides to second-guess themselves.”

Sen would remember what Tomb mentioned earlier about some longma finding themselves wandering the thicket, no longer in corporeal form but still in pain. That one moment placed things in perspective, a thought that would make him wonder just how unlucky they fared.

“It’s a compromise, but if the elders can see it is worth doing, I think there will be a chance for something new. Better to rise up and learn than be another footnote in someone else’s story. But all this talk about the future of the longma has me wondering…. What about you? If there is an opportunity for you to do something for yourself out there, what's in store for your future?"

"You can catch them, Lin."

Omen were sure of this, as she fully believed in all of her friends. And Lin had already caught one fish, so why would she not be able to also catch another one? One were evn moving towards her, so that one should be possible. The last one though, that seemed to be tricking others, might be harder for her. Because she stood far away, that were. Omen were sure that Lin could catch that one, if it were closer, and it probably would be in time. If for no other reason, then because Omen were about to go hunting for it now.

But this fish were indeed smarter. It swam around, out of reach of her tongue, and would swim through rings, loops, and so on, to try and get Omen to snag her own tongue into something. Even once had a wisher accidentally catch her tongue, as she followed it. A rather awkward situation for the pony in question, but Omen just slithered her tongue back into the water, like it were nothing.

As this cat and mouse chase went on, Lin's target would near, and she had the right idea. Instead of actively chasing it, she were waiting in ambush. This would prove to be useful, as this fish were rather reactionary, since most that tried to catch them, were impatient, so its experience lead its actions.

If she remained calm, and just used the ball to direct it further towards herself, by throwing it on the other side of it, and then the board to make sure the angle got juuuust right, she'd find that the fish would more or less swim right into her line. A quick yank there, and she'd be golden. Unless she began wriggling the line around, and causing attention to be fallen on that from the fish. She had to be sneaky and calm to get this first attempt working.

"What I mean is more that if they do decide to exile someone, Equestria as an example, would likely be eager to urge them to at least throw them in that direction, or let it be known that they welcome their kind there. It may be a punishment to get exiled, but it should not become an indirect death sentence, and this would allow some degree of mercy from your elders side, whilst still - as you put it - get rid of an unwanted element. Second chances, are the Equestrian way."

Most of the time. He had heard of some who had not been given the chance, but that were mainly down to several crimes, which meant that offering said chance at the time, would be unreasonable. Though Discord were an example, that everyone could still be given another chance eventually, as he had been given the opportunity to turn his life around, after the second time he were turned to stone. One he had eventually taken serious. Or as serious as one of their kind could take it, that were. They all had a certain degree of... Whimsy, over them, which made complete seriousness essentially impossible. Though playful benevolence were a viable alternative.

"As for the practice itself, I hope that it will lessen in scale, from what I have so far gathered. It have sounded to me like to a certain extent, it have been used less to punish some who did actual crimes, and more of a convenient way of getting rid of those who disagrees with you, or have proven a threat to your position. A favored way of doing things for dictatorships, outside of convenient *disappearances*, or outright assassination."

This one were a bit tougher to answer for Rosa, and he'd actually remain quiet for a little while as he thought it over. In which time, he'd fire three bolts, and have them hit within an acorn's width of one another. It were perhaps still just 5 pointers, but he were getting consistency. Soon as he then adjusted his firing angle, this should prove to be rather helpful, in getting him some points.

When the last bolt had been fired though, he'd slowly begin to speak, whilst retrieving the bolts from the board.

"...I don't know. Logistically, my brain keeps telling me that I will be spending upwards of decades in prison, and then having to use a lot of time after that to try and make up for past misdeeds, by attempting to help with counter-espionage. usually spies in my position, does not have a long life, so the far rung future were not something I thought much of. Always figured that if I did somehow manage t survive into old age, I'd be a teacher.

In some ways, I would still like to be that. It feels like I have spent my life, amassing knowledge that in the end, were never meant to be passed on to anyone who could use it. It would feel good to actually share what I know with others, in a meaningful way. Maybe an instructor of sorts, to provide more real life efficient skills. There's a lot of adventurers out there, so it could be useful to teach them proper survival techniques, as well as ways to protect themselves. Trap detection would be rather valuable too.

*sigh* But much will depend on what sort of judgement I recieve, and how it will then mark me. Some things are just not feasible to get done properly, if you are marked the wrong way by the law. Public perception can be a fickle thing at times."

@Blitz Boom

Tepe gave Windy her flyer back, and Windy shows the food she's drooling about.

The name of the dish is Swampy Green Soup, a spinach soup with tofu “I remember eating some green stew similar to this one, but I can't put a hoof of its name” she said, thinking about the stew she ate several years ago before moving to Equestria “I also found another food named Rainbow Macaroni but... Too colorful, as if its existence is just to attract the eyes of the public” she whispered this to Sorrow. If this is heard by one of the workers of the restaurant, she'll indirectly give them a bad impression and she didn't like that. She turned to Tepe “Have you found anything to order for yourself?”

“No, I'm not hungry” Tepe replied nonchalantly.
