“An unlikely outcome will see your sister recover, all memories intact, and gain the ability to read and speak the language Omen mentioned. It would be as if she was gifted through a memory transfer because of the possession. However, what will most likely happen is Lin waking up with gaps in her memories, and she will need help recovering them. Magic cannot fix that, only simple recollections from those who are knowledgeable and reinforced with time. It is evident that you care a lot for Lin, and so we hope this can ease some of your worries.”

"We can tell her what she forgets."

Omen had some recent memory loss of her own, and while it were confusing at times, it were the sort of thing that could be helped, by others telling you what you had forgotten. Sen especially, could tell her a lot of things. He knew most of her life, and would know more than Omen did, when it came to passing on information like that. She would probably believe him more too, in case she had forgotten about Omen. In which case, she would likely also have forgotten Mother. She would not be thrilled about that, but Mother would be okay, long as Lin were alive. She were pretty sure about that.

“Did you find out more? What did the shattered orb show you?”

“Something we did not expect yet most curious. It contained a message, but it did more harm to Lin than simply using her as a conduit. Whoever created this intended for the creature using this orb to be made into a vessel by destroying their personalities, leaving only a body that could be made to serve their needs. In a sense, it would leave a husk for someone to transfer their consciousness into or possibly a partially conscious slave that will obey orders without question, but the magical signature was only made to respond to longma. Stone Matron, Omen, would either of you know of any creatures that could be capable of such abilities?”

In the twenty minutes, the Stone Matron had gone around and scribbled some runes into various parts of the room, as well as adjusted the small urns. As they were waiting, she may as well reinforce things somewhat, just in case it were required. Omen as per usual, would stand motionless, the only movement or indication she were alive, being the slow movement of her mane and tail, as well as the continued *repair job* of the last few holes she had left in her.

When the concerniung words were spoken though, she would move her head, uncertain what to say, until the question were posed. She would be the first to answer that, though the Stone Matron would follow up shortly after.

"Draconequui."

"Several races are known to leave others as bare minimum servants, by hampering their consciousness.

Some changelings specialize in mind control and subjugation. The most prominent being Queen Onache, the Slaver Queen. She's well known for subjugating the will of her prey to her command, and using them as menial labor and food, for her hive. Though you'd probably know already if a hive like this were anywhere near your town.

Then there's pixies. They are not per se malicious, but they do retaliate, and hold grudges. Also got a long history of various places, trapping them, and using them as forced servants, or ingredients in potions. If a longma harmed them at some point, I could imagine a vengeful bunch would do this, as punishment for what happened to them, or someone they knew.

Then there's sphinxes, who have an incredibly long history, of making servants out of lesser races. Which to them is all others, except dragons, due to them being harder to break. They're known to use everything from chains and whippings, to outright magic to make a servant more amicable. They could've been there thousands of years ago, and you've run into one of their control spheres.

All three could be the culprit, as well as a possible salvation, as they know how to handle mind altering well. Most cases, a consciousness are also not destroyed, but more locked down, or stolen, and stored somewhere else. Outright destroying a mind is a lot of work and effort. Taking or undermining is usually far easier."

"...*incomprehensible screeching and gnashing sound, making you feel like toothed tendrils are slithering across your brain, caressing your thoughts*"

"Do not make that noise again."

"That is what they are called. Mother says it is a bad place, that is very dangerous, but I have a sister there. It have been a long time since I have seen her, but Mother says they do things to your head. I get a strange poking in my head, when sister speaks to me in that language.

I do not know many things, with things who makes others do as they say, except masters... And gods."

They had various options, but it were hard to pinpoint any, as they didn't know the longma's past, and thus had no idea what races might have once controlled them, or wanted them harm. The Stone Matron's bet would be on sphinxes though. They had been more or less all over the world, at various times, and subjugated places. Their own main city somewhere in the deserts of Saddle Arabia were one of such places, but a lone sphinx were known to go out sometimes, and find their own place, with creatures that would cater to them. Sometimes it were beneficial for the area, as a sphinx were a powerful figure, that could guide them onwards. Other times... Not so much. And if it were one of them, Lin might be in trouble, as they were known to handle meddlesome ones, by taking their higher consciousness, and store them in objects. It could be earned back, but at this point, a sphinx would be long gone from that area. Thousands of years ago potentially, and at that point, they had either taken the storage with them, or it would be hidden somewhere int he longma area. With probably more traps around it, to ensure that no one would try and tamper with it. And who knew what state those things were in, after an unknown amount of time?

If they were lucky, it were just a conscious repression, and they could get a changeling specialist in to retrieve Lin from her own head, so to speak. Ideally they'd need Onache then, who they'd probably have to... Forcibly convince to do something for them. A task easier said than done.

"I couldn't agree more.  Quite unproductive," Dawn agreed with the Prince.  Rising rolled his eyes, Dawn was leaving out much of the detail of that incident.  "I think you learned quite a lot from it, personally,"

"Hopefully not too much. While it is a beneficial spell, it does have certain downsides for the uninitiated especially. Potential arguments with yourself as it were, is one thing, but prolonged lack of a shadow can lead to light hurting, when it is cast upon your skin. I will spare the finer details, but when you block the light from reflecting on you, and feed that into the spell, a point will be reached where it seemingly rejects you. Truth be told, I am not certain why that is, but we do have a recorded incident in our history, of one that split for too long, and had to live in constant darkness for several years. Her shadow on the other hoof, seemingly grew stronger and stronger, and when it returned to her, saying it wished to merge back with her, the shadow seemed to overtake her mind, and grow dominant instead.

As it were, you can see a picture of her over there."

He would point towards an image of an elderly mare with long, silver-grey hair, clad in flowing, dark robes, wielding a scepter, the crown of Harrowmark upon her head, and stood majestically on top of a hill. It were marked as *Queen Raven, the Darkness Redeemed*. In the glass cage, it had a small, halfway burnt candle, next to a plague on a chain, upon which faded letters read *May she see me, and despair*.

"The true Queen Raven were a vain, pompous tyrant. A bloated embarrassment, who thought too highly of herself, and as such, got bold with for instance this shadow reanimation. When it deceived her, she were buried underneath, and the shadow took over. To her last breath, she stood steadfast as a kind, driven ruler, wanting to make sure that her legacy were better than it had started.

She sadly also struggled with the voice in her head until the end. The real one, trying to fight back for control. Her end reflect that struggle, but I will not spoil it. It is in the book your father were granted, and I think that much as we do, he too will read and learn from her story. Though what you should learn, is to not take such powers lightly.

Necromancy can be a force for good, as well as evil, but it is a corrupting force, if you are not careful. It must be approached with understanding, caution, and respect. Though I can imagine a mare of such spectacular magic - like yourself - already are aware of that."

"Did you overwhelm your father?" Grace spoke up, seeing the unicorn lost in own little world of Harrowmark long ago.  "New history, a lot of process," assured his mother.  Star was likely on his sixth mental poem by now.  He'd have a new book for sale at the local bookstore within a week of their return, guaranteed.

"This room is filled with history. They asked of our founding, and I answered him. It seems to have given him pause. Quite frankly, it is enjoyable to watch. There is something calming about seeing a scholar's mind at work.

Speaking of story, perhaps I can show you one that embrace other things? Right this way, if you would."

He'd direct them over towards the left, and end in front of another painting. This of a young mare. She could not be more than her mid twenties, and looked frankly average. The crown that sat upon her golden mane, seemed out of place. As did the generally warm, smiling mare, looking towards them in the midst of a field of roses. Her cabinet held a length of braided hair, and a well preserved, red rose in its own box within said box.

"Queen Edelweiss the Second. A kinder queen, I hardly think we ever had. Every story tells how a room brightened when she entered, and her love of theater and dance, were well known.

Never meant for the throne, until father, and older sisters fell by Twisted's hoof, for some slight he seemingly judged them for. She were the only one to take up the throne, and though she struggled, she approached it as best she could. Her achievements, were in the creation of the royal theater, her contributions to our arts, and brightening the days of others, in a harsh time for our country.

She had barely born a daughter herself, when the illness struck her. Uncurable, and debilitating, she would wither away in a matter of years, and she knew it herself.

...She did not wish to be remembered that way. Withering away, clinging to a sliver of life for as long as could be, whilst she faded away in horrible agony. Her daughter especially, shouldn't see that, when she thought of her mother. So instead, after finishing her last work, she put her affairs in order, and let go of life, leaving her husband to be a ward for the crown, until her daughter would be ready.

Her final wish, before her breath ended, were that she would be remembered for who she were, and not what had become of her. And thus, we still title her as *Our Shining Light*, and remember all the gifts of art and wonder she have given us. Including the grand theater production she set out to make, in honor of the daughter that had yet been born. It have been one of the most beloved productions at the court, for many centuries. Even Twisted were known to at times show up, when that performance were set on stage, though why is unknown.

I apologize if this seems a... Depressing story, but sadly not all of our regents, have had a good life, nor a long one. Yet when the end comes, I like to think that it should be measures not simply in years, but by how one lived, and then to try and celebrate the life that were, rather than mourn the end that we all face. I also hope that later, you might see the performance yourself, and see the love and joy poured into it. A final gift, from a mother to her child."

Sheska didn't care about being feared, in fact, she would purposely give a cold look towards those who were more obvious about it, if someone didn't want her help because she defended herself? that was their choice, and frankly speaking, it wasn't like she specifically cared for any of these creatures, she only helped because she felt obligated to per her training, her taking care of ponies was not out of empathy,  but out of professionalism, and she'd only insist on it if the individual was a kobold, a friend, or an important ally, in that order, and here? nobody but Trox fit that description.

As Sheska was finishing up with the last injuries, Trox brought the crossbow and sword back to her as she had dropped both during the fight.

If nothing happened, the siblings would make a B line to the tavern, and based on their general demeanor, this was actually more important to them personally than anything that had happened until now. This would be even more apparent if and when they got there, as they would find Chega and Sear downstairs having a meal, and the twins would immediately become more relaxed and generally more warm in their demeanor.

"I'm fine with that, I did take a glance at the map, and our destination is on the other side of Equestria, so a break or two won't matter when it comes to time." in fact, Spicy would probably find it suspicious if they didn't take any breaks, since while a dragon would be able to make the journey in one go without too much trouble, a pony stuck to the ground wouldn't, not that Spicy would have any way to know, but still. "I am also curious of his potential, In my observation, he seems to start generating his own electricity after certain threshold, so I'm curious if there's an upper limit to that, or is it theoretically infinite."

"Let's go, nothing I want here."

Omen, I am not sure about the sphinxes, but could other draconquii be likely? Would you know of others like Discord who might have wanted servants?”

“What of those gods you mentioned? Powerful beings like them taking an interest in the longma should not be ruled out. The implications could be dangerous.”

It would seem that many creatures possess some form of ability for mental manipulation, and Sen listened on trying to wrap his head around just how many possibilities there were for this kind of magic. Unfortunately, it would make narrowing down the most likely candidates much more difficult, more so if none of them match up to the longma’s historical accounts. Omen’s… odd sounds were rather nerve-wracking, necessitating him to cover his ears out of concern for his sanity. For now, it seemed like the answers wouldn’t be any easier to reach, but the scholars had something on their minds. It was the ethics behind their test that could cause issues with those present.

“If the creatures that created this object or spell specifically targeted the longma, it may be best to learn and consider how this type of magic works. What we could gather could give pieces of information that could allow us to deduce the identity of whoever could be after your kind. Sen, as the only longma present, would you be amenable to our experiment?”

“Maybe? What would you be doing, and what do you need me to do?”

“We only need you to walk out of this room, but it is… difficult to explain our purpose. It is much for us to ask, but we cannot divulge the nature of this test. Trust that we will not mean you any harm.”

“No. I won’t do it, not unless you say what you’ll do.”

Even if Sen declined, the scholars wouldn’t budge or say, leaving the longma incensed and in need of some time away. Without thinking of what he’s doing, he ended up doing exactly what the scholars wanted and walking away in a huff. Though it seemed like he wasn’t exactly leaving the room, he was walking further from where the others stood, which was close enough for the scholars that they decided to take action. Within several seconds, the focal orb glowed blue just like its shattered counterpart, then released two glowing tethers that reached toward Sen and the shattered orb.

Shortly after, the longma stopped in his tracks, turned around, and started slowly walking back to the others. Just like with Lin, the whites in Sen’s eyes were present, and his irritated and angry demeanor was no more. It appeared all traces of emotion, thought, and observation were lost, with him appearing to ignore Omen and the Stone Matron if they tried getting his attention, at least until he stopped in front of the orb again.

“Huh? I was walking away… What am I doing back here?”

“We’ve only caught slivers of what this magic could be through our test, but there was just enough to piece some details together. ”

“You didn’t say anything…. You knew that would happen?!”

”We did, and we apologize. It was necessary for us to hide our intentions so you would decline. The magic we intended to harness and its effects had to be used on someone unwilling so we determine what we might be dealing with. Knowing what our deception caused, we deserve the ire of all who are present.”

Sen’s anger erupted when he raised his voice, but he knew there wasn’t much point in retaliating. After all, how could he fight an orb that could project magic? The scholars braced for the reprimands they’d get from Omen, Sen, and the Stone Matron. What they did, taking advantage of the situation without being given consent, was inexcusable, and knew that this would damage the trust they built up with the longma and the Ki’Nathar.

"Oh, she's not done being troublesome. But this will hold her for now, and be our problem later, back in Neighpon.

And you should listen to him, young lady. This is not prey, or a toy."

She'd use her magic, and roll up the cloth painting, making a nice tube, before silk would come out of thin air and wrap around, before finishing with a large, red ribbon, that were tied around it, and into a bow.

Then Elder RHugan would concentrate more, and draw a small circle on the floor with a claw, magic trailing along with it, sparking in a line. Once both ends connected, there would be a small flash, before the line were simply glowing softly. She'd take the rolled up living artwork, and push it into the middle. While the inside of the circle had not seemed like much, she were able to push this through the floor, the surface waving like the surface of a pond, as this were carefully passed through the small portal.

It would be over soon enough, though before it could be closed, Shark went closer, sniffing the small portal, and then sticking her nose into it. Something smelled strange, yet good to her, though she couldn't say what it wa- !

Her eyes would suddenly go wide, and she'd jerk her head back, revealing that a streak of something parchment yellow, had been placed upon her snout. Something which she'd start to lick cautiously, and then with more joy, working on cleaning the odd liquid around her snout.

"Seems like Hu Tai is in a good mood. Usually he doesn't share."

"It taste of happy."

"Not everyone's first reaction to tasting kimchi. A bit of an acquired taste, but good for those who can stomach it."

Her staff would tap the floor, and the line s would fade away. Her delivery as it were, had been done. And it seemed that the kitsune kits had been hard at work too, making sure that the worst injuries had been dealt with. Some scrapes and bruises were to be expected, but nothing bleeding, bones not broken or bent... Yes, the most important parts were handled, though about a minute or two more, now they they got assistance from Sheska, should sort the remaining proper injuries out well enough.

They got some looks. Confused ones, and in the case of Sheska, a couple would scurry away when she neared them, but the kitsune could handle that. They were not seen as bad, because they hadn't hurt anyone. Though Sheska would still be welcome enough by most of those she had actually hurt. Being under control, they had no idea what had happened, and would thus not know why they should have issues with her.

Once all would be said and done, they could get out. Rhugan, Zhing, and Hachi, would follow along, as they went to Chega. Rhugan heard that she were in or near an inn, and that sounded like a good place for a cup of tea for her. Sure she had to return home and get to work soon enough, but the cup of tea would be a welcome break after all of this. Might not have seemed like much, but she weren't as young as she once were, and moving around as much as she had, and using the magic that were displayed, were still taxing on her energy.

@Catpone Cerberus

"I hope somepony tries. I could use a good laugh."

Might not seem like she'd be able to do a lot, if she got jumped, but she weren't defenseless. Truth be told, she mostly didn't even need Marley for protection. He were mostly there for companionship, menial labor, and appearances. And no, not because he were overly focused on his looks. Appearances as in, him sticking around, made others less likely to figure she were an easy mark, and thus she'd get attacked less.

She'd probably have a few who got handsy now, after she were travelling alone. She had to get herself a new bodyguard soon, but it'd take time unfortunately, and there were work to do now. She couldn't exactly risk going with a new one out of nowhere, and then have them later revealed to be a law officer in disguise. She had colleagues who had gotten taken down by that. No, she had to rely on those she knew and had some trust to, and then figure out who were worth putting in some more trust, and then start to slowly introduce them to the work proper.

*sigh* She missed the feather duster already... He better not stay a stranger. Especially not since his deranged girlfriend, would probably try to tear off his former boss' face, and mail that to him, to let him know that she were thinking about him. She seemed a little... Whatever the nicest way to say *Axe murderer in training* were.

"Seems like a solid plan. Better get on our way then, so we don't lose day light I suppose.

On the way there, if we find a clear area, maybe we can break and see if your lil' bro here would be ready to try another magic lesson. I'm thinking that we've seen him able to manipulate a few sparks, but maybe what's holding him back, is that he doesn't have enough voltage? I'll try saving up, so I can increase it a bit. It'd be cool seeing what he can do when he's charged up. My guess? Slamming through a mountain. Or setting the forest on fire, though who haven't done that at least a few times in their lives, right?"

Shame they had to leave the town already, but hey, money called, yeah? And Ruby were right. Best to ditch the loot, then get on their way, so they could get more loot. And a bit of time to think of what they'd do next. Besides, wasn't gonna do if the pony made it there first. Wouldn't do that they'd be slower than an equine with a cart, right? That'd just be embarrassing. Better that they got a move on, and made it there at a leisurely pace, well before the four legged poker player got there.

"Anything you still wanna do before we take off? I'm ready when you are, though someday, I wanna take you two back here, for a proper day around town. A chance to enjoy the good parts of life in town. Including both the high and lower layer of town. It'll be fun."

@EQ_Theta

"I will not accept that."

Omen would speak up, soon as she heard that the ball talked about Lin potentially not coming back. Something that she - as mentioned - wouldn't accept as an option.

"Then what would you do about it?"

The Stone Matron had seen many things in her life. Enough to know that the world were filled with infinite possibilities, and countless ways to get what you wanted, if you were determined enough. Yet at the same time, this one seemed... Slow and more of a follower, than one who took charge and made things happen. She were curious if the creature actually had some tangible plans, beyond just refusing to accept a dismal, potential reality.

"I will take her to anyone I can find, that is stronger, to make them fix her. To Mother. To the princesses. To Master Discord himself. Sister will get better."

"Did you just call Discord master?"

"Discord is my master. He gave me form, when he ruled over Equestria. He can do many things. So can Mother, who made me, and my unformed siblings long, long before Master Discord chose me. Even if they can not help, there are others too."

The Stone Matron were... Conflicted now, as she did not like Discord. At the same time, this were not him, and she couldn't judge Omen fairly, just by going by her relations with the lord of chaos. And she were right. The draconequus were strong, and could do many things. He might well be able to do something. This *Mother* though, she did not know, and were not sure what to expect from. Nor the princesses, as she didn't much care to get involved in their business. So she would simply accept that Omen seemed to have ideas, though the most pressing one they could go and ask, were right in front of them, as it were.

"You, whose voices shall soon be granted form. It sounds like you know of what might have happened, and what could come. Have you not too an interest in seeing things through then?

Have you something that could be traced, of the one who linked with her? Perhaps in that connection, broken or not, you will find answers."

Omen would think for a moment, then begin to regurgitate. Piece after piece of the orb from before, that she had gone and showed down, and stored in her stomach. She had intended to eat all of it, but hid some of them for later, as things had happened, and she needed to get a move on again. One of them, being the big piece that had gotten stuck in her eye. She'd lift that one up, help by her dry, warm tongue, and looked towards the orb.

"I ate some parts of it, that got stuck in me, when the orb exploded. Is this useful?"

As she spoke, the last few strings in her darker eye would stitch together, leaving her eye completely healed up again, and as it were mended properly, light returned to it. It seemed she now had depth perception once more.

As for the kitsune? They'd focus on getting Lin physically stable, but as for her mind, as the slightest notion that the damages were deeper than that, they'd contact the head nurse. And if it were then very serious, they'd take it further, to some who were more experienced in matters than them.

Damaged or not, Lin certainly had a lot that wanted what were best for her. Hopefully she'd soon return to them, and could appreciate the amount of creatures who had deep concern for her.  sign that she mattered to them all.

That said, while they could probably end up fixing her, one way or another, even if they had to work from many various angles... It were questionable if they could do so before the meeting. And if she were not ready before that, then what? Could Sen speak on their behalf on his own? Would they even let him?

Light was a bit shocked at what Shark did and happened to her snout, but soon later it wasn't something he should be alarmed about. He would try to wipe out the stain that the Kimchi might leave on her fur though.

Light would do little at this point and would follow where his Love is.

"I know some draconequui. Many I have not seen for a long time.

I remember Fright. She was in the shadows, scaring others. I heard that she has a temple now, and help others. I do not think it is her.

Avarice liked shiny things. I do not think it is him either. He would just have others bring him stuff instead, if he could control them.

I did not meet others, but Master Discord told me of a few more. Gluttony, Errata, and Rebirth. He did not say any of them liked servants. Not the ones I told of before either, but he did not tell me everything, and draconequui seem to like to change their minds of things."

"Gluttony, Avarice, or Fright are all considered reformed at this point. It might be something left int he past though, and if so, it could be any of them. Fright were always rumored to be lonely, Avarice would want others to collect things, and Gluttony for others to serve her. Though she have changed her name to Voracity since, I've been told.

There are many more draconequui though, but major and minor. For an old spell, you should look towards the older brood though, and I can't say who's left of them. Most have long since left Equestria behind. You should ask another draconequus about that, if you want answers. Voracity isn't too far from here, if you want the nearest.

As for gods, there's none near here, but know that they are mostly region based. Gods tend to stay in their area of worship. It's few who roam, and in Equestria, there are none. It is not known why, but it is assumed that the worship of the princesses, have taken the energy they'd need to form."

"What about The Earth Mother?"

"Even if that one is real, and not just a natural presence that the Dryads and Evergrown have given a name to, their beliefs make it clear that they are worshipping her to keep her content, and sleeping, because they do not want her to rise up."

"I had not heard that. Okay then. I have heard of two other gods though. One on an island, that Master Discord made me go to. She were tall, and made of wood and dark gems. Thaly'sahr. I did not get to say something, before I were thrown off the island.

The other were Lala Leihre. It was somewhere to the west of Equestria. A small one made of water, with rubies for eyes. She vanished into a river when I got close, and the locals did not want to say anything about her. Just that she wanted to be left in peace."

"You might have a pagan god in your area. They don't need true worship, since they're weaker anyway. They do tend to like sacrifices though. You shouldn't have to worry about that, lest there is a history of something in your area?"

It were unlikely to be gods that had influenced things. Their presence tended to wane without worship, and the longma seemingly didn't show worship to a higher being like that. And Omen at least, hadn't heard of mysteriously vanishing beings, or crazed individuals, killing others for seemingly no reason. A tempted spur of the moment sacrifice, as it would be. Though who knew? Perhaps Salosan had been trying to do that. Probably not, but you never knew.

Could also be an actual god, but as said, they lived by worship. If the longma didn't, then technically, there were a small chance that the former civilization had worshipped one, and it had grown weak and bitter after that fall, with no new worship coming in. Might have even been trapped, and accidentally let lose recently. It were hard to know without more information.

"If you die, we can find you a new vessel. There is enough to chose from in my quarry. Though if they were so brazen to kill here, their bodies would be nulled. I do not tolerate unmercenary violence here."

It were not the most comforting thing to say, but the Stone Matron were not exactly here to spread joy and smiles for miles. She were a devout golem maker, and a golem herself no less. While she had sympathy for others, what she were, and the things she had seen and done, did make her somewhat cold and jaded. Though she were fair, and wouldn't tolerate violence, as said. If the spirits tried that, they'd have their bodies nulled, and would be ejected from these grounds. Deal be damned, there were rules, and she had told both them and Scarcity as much.

"I do not think they will hurt you, and we need to try and help Lin."

Omen didn't think something bad would come from this. The voices hadn't seemed shady so far. Not as far as she could remember at least, and if they tried something, they would be stuck in the orb. That would make them hesitant in trying to hurt him, right?

Perhaps she were too trusting in this matter. Perhaps she were clouded in her judgement somewhat by wanting to help their sister. Either way, she wouldn't have objections, and would just observe, as the voices and Sen, began arguing, and eventually he'd start to walk away, as they had asked him to do.

A large gate would open in front of Sen, barring him from going closer to the orb when he started to raise his voice.

"You are safe, and they know something now. Something that can maybe help our sister. Let them tell us what they know, brother."

Omen wouldn't have ire. She didn't feel anger. Even if she did feel something, however minute, it would probably have been worry for Sen, more than anything else. It were not good to see him briefly act like Lin had before, though he thankfully made it back from that, so that were a good thing. She chose to focus on that, and that they might have learned something from that, rather than put blame. Though she understood her brother did not like being used. That were understandable at least.

"If you learned something from this, then instead of waiting for ire, say what you discovered. The sooner you can narrow the search, the wiser for their sister."

The Stone Matron were certainly not thrilled, and her eyes did narrow, but this were not techni9cally a violation of the rules. Would have tested her patience, if they had been controlled for much longer, but it were enough to simply make her somewhat irritable. They would be best in not repeating this though, or she may retaliate in some fashion. This deceptiveness had a limit between being practical and simply being cruel, and this were wandering closely to the line. It better hold answers.

The rest of the group would follow. Shark near the end, as she wasn't sure what were happening, but she wanted to follow the fluffy ones, and her new, scaly friends. So she would go along, licking her face every now and again to see if there were more of that strange stuff there. She wanted to try more some other time. It had a nice, curious taste to it. Kinda like squid, but different, in some way. She missed squid. It were a nice moist meal. Even if they had a habit of trying to wriggle out of her mouth back when she were a regular shark. At least crab were still on the menu. Probably her favorite food, after a tasty mackerel. The crunch were great.

She would keep licking the kimchi off her face, and if Light tried to get it off, would be reluctant to let him do so. It tasted nice, and it sounded like it were safe to eat, yes? But if he insisted, she'd let him. She trusted him fully, so if he felt this were best, she'd let it happen. Though she would try and find a place with kimchi someday. It were not the last time she wanted to taste this.

The way back would be mostly uneventful. Most were still hunkered down inside, waiting to be told they could come outside again, soon as the danger had passed. So the trip to the inn would be simple as it were.

The kitsune wouldn't disturb at first, once they entered the establishment, with the twins following their elder, as she went to the counter. She'd ask for some fresh tea, and some lemon biscuits if they had. Then asked the twins if they wanted some too, which they politely said they'd appreciate. A payment later, done in gold coins from the elder, and they'd have a seat near whom they assumed were the friends of the kobolds. They seemed friendly towards them at least.

Rhugan would be the first to nod towards them, with a small smile upon her pointy face.

"Good evening. I hope the latest events haven't put a dampener on your moods? It would be a shame to have a bard feeling down, at a dreary time like this."

"Is happy time. Strange thing is gone, so reef is safe now, yes?"

"It is safe from this at least, yes. I will have to return home and deal with things proper somewhat soon though. Just looking for a small respite, before I must leave Hachi and Zhing once again."

"We will be okay, Elder Rhugan."

"I know you will. I would not have given my vote to let you leave for here, if I did not have confidence that you would be shinning examples or our village. Still I worry though, with you so far from our borders. An Oni were here now, but who knows what else might happen? Perhaps I shall see if I can visit now and again, to hear of your progress in person."

"Fluffy one? Can Shark see your reef some day? It smell nice."

The elder chuckled. Such a peculiar spirit this one were. She were delightfully refreshing honestly, in her simplicity.

"Perhaps some day. But then you must listen to our young, and learn from them. Prepare for what may lie ahead. When you are ready, I will bring it up to the others."

Shark seemed happy, grinning widely. A sight making one shuffle a bit away from her, but the rest... Mixture of being jaded, and having seen her enough, to know that she wasn't a threat, made them not act outwardly poorly to her showing off her teeth.

Since they had nothing more keeping them here, they might as well be on their way. Barring any feasting breaks they might need to have on their trip, they should probably get back to Ruby's house to stash the gold they got prepaid soon enough. Nothing remarkable there, though there'd be someone outside. A quadruped in a full body robe, face turned towards Ruby's house, standing in complete silence. The wind wafted his cloak around a little, but it would not reveal anything. Only a bit of his exposed paws, which seemed to be feline in nature, with stripes.

"Hey, what's up? House hunting or something?"

Leviathan would approach cautiously, not certain what to think about this. Beings in robes like this, seldomly meant good news. Sometimes they were bad. Other times, things just got weird. It were always hard to say what to expect, but she knew one thing: She weren't thrilled seeing one here.

"...No direction, beyond the point of endings. The tree flourish again, but branches gnarled, reach many paths... Which reach towards the sky? Whom breaks, and falls into rot? What other ways might it go? I want not for answers, for I see them all. Yet questions elude me, and no voice guide my way."

The voice were low and grumbling. Sounded like someone trying to speak over a growl, while attempting to sound as neutral as one could be.

Leviathan meanwhile, would lean in to Ruby, and whisper to her. After rolling her eyes as this one, obviously.

"Why do we always run into the weird ones?"

If Ruby said or did nothing, the odd one would look towards her house for a bit longer, then silently turn to the right, and wander away from here. His face hidden entirely, in the darkness of the robe.

Dark history.  An odd curiosity these particular shadow clones are detailed.  Parasites that become all the stronger and more individual from the host the longer they are apart and away from the light.  This moves far beyond the realm of having to worry about arguing with one's self when instead you are fighting for control of your own body.  Luckily, not an issue Dawn had to deal with in her own cloning experiment.  Dawn's clone, who Rising called Nawd, was a creation of pure arcane magic, and as such, subject to Rising's spell breaking.  Nawd also wasn't part of Dawn anymore than an energy beam cast from her horn was.  There wasn't a way to put the clone back into Dawn, let alone have any power to takes over his sister's body or mind.  Likewise though, once created, Dawn had as much control over her creation as she did her brother.  Also nice as a prototype basically, that as a begin of arcane magic, it had to draw from itself to cast magic without the ability to naturally replenish itself, preventing it from lasting long enough to be too big of an issue.  Rising still remembers Dawn trying to give Nawd her first order after creation, and it went about just as well as if they clone had asked the same thing to Dawn.

At least this dark story about a rogue shadow clone taking over their creator led to a happy ending for the better.  Still rather uncomfortable to think about.  How well would the detective's shadow get along with him?

The family followed Necrotic to the next history lesson of Harrowmark.  A Queen that ruled during the time of Twisted, so not that long about in the grand scheme of the room they were in.  Giving a basic timeline, this Shining Light could easily be Necortic's grandmare and the Queen that child that was spared having to see her mother wither away.  At least that's where Rising's mind wandered to during this story.  A bright light to shine the in the darkness like a lighthouse.

"I do look forward to experiencing your Grand Theater," Grace spoke up.  Everypony else got to experience aspects of Harrowmark that played to their interests, mother was quite patient in waiting her turn.  At this point, Star had popped out of her mentalscape.  "I must write this all down!  Dawn, my sweet horned angel, parchment and quill, please!" the father pleaded to his daughter.  "Father, dearest, as the Prince said... this is all in the book you'll be receiving from the royal library.  No need to rush to print," Dawn spoke softly to her father.  Also no need to be lost here for hours, or days, putting his mind to parchment.  "Oh, oh quite right, quite right," Star collected himself, now mentally back with the family.

There are many more draconequui though, but major and minor. For an old spell, you should look towards the older brood though, and I can't say who's left of them. Gods are a different matter, but based on your descriptions, they wanted to be left alone, and are also not likely to be looking for creatures to enslave. Voracity may be an avenue worth pursuing when there is time.”

“A god? No, it doesn’t sound likely either. Sacrifice isn’t something the longma practice, even if we believe in nature having influence in our lives.”

Draconequii are an odd sort, but Discord was the most well-known. A chaotic entity that exuded power and had a knack for mischief was someone likely to pull off the kind of magic they were investigating, but there were enough mentions in the longma’s history to know of him despite never meeting. But then, this would mean establishing contact, which goes against known details of the longma’s isolationism. They believed in nature having some commanding presence as part of their belief system, but nothing suggested the presence of an actual being of worship. Gods could be ruled out in this case, and there was no argument from Sen on this. Not even elders practiced any form of worship, nor led anyone to the worship of other beings of higher power.

Voracity sounded like a creature that lived to feed, and though it made sense that servants tending to every whim would be logical, Sen thought that it wouldn’t make too much sense for that, especially if the longma’s history made it seem like their past of slavery was for more than just food.

They helped us, just as they brought us to you to give us a new chance at life. Their sister’s life is at risk, as is the rest of their kind, so it is in our best interest to provide assistance wherever we can. As for our discovery, the magical signature is fragmented, but it speaks to the kind of creatures that created it. They are broken, yearning for something to make them whole, and they are angry. Having husks to take over would likely be what would make them whole, but it is difficult to say if this is truly their main goal or just one intention.”

The scholars projected a structure before everyone, even toward Sen, who held himself back after seeing Omen erect a gate entrance in front of him: a stone step pyramid about five stories high and crumbling around the sides. It appeared to be rather structurally sound despite its age and the overgrowth covering it. Below it was a forest clearing with smaller huts and trees with homes built along their sides. An open field acting as a circular marker that delineated or separated the two domains was evident in the overall structure of this environment, but it was enough to give a brief picture of what Sen and Omen should keep in mind.

“This structure should be a landmark worth remembering because the magical signature we’ve picked up and examined is also present here. Should you find it, exercise extreme caution because it may contain traces of magic that could influence thoughts and behaviors. However, it would not affect you, Omen. That would make you best suited to watch for odd behaviors should anything out of the ordinary manifest, especially if it could affect your friends and fellows among the longma. It should be easier if there is no object channeling that kind of magic; simply draw their attention back to reality if you notice unexpected behavioral changes.”

The step pyramid was odd for something that was hidden among the information within the shattered orb, but it was worth keeping in mind nonetheless. If one were to take a closer look at the structure, it bore some resemblance to the glyphs, specifically the central section surrounding the other landmarks. It would seem the glyphs and the orb were connected in some manner, and whatever linked them was tied to the longma as well. Interesting on its own, but when taken together, it starts to build a bigger picture, creating unexpected implications about the longma’s past. However, something else bothered the scholars, at least more than expected out of an inanimate object.

“There is one more thing, but certainty on this matter is dubious. We are not sure if it is appropriate to speak of it, but we’ll do so if you are inclined to listen. Our concern is on whether you would believe us.”

"Gods do not wish for solitude. They wish for praise. Ask any Caneighdan, and they will tell you. Their most prominent goddess have a yearly festival in her honor, and seems to gorge in the worship of those coming from far and wide to offer her something, and pray for her boon.

It does help she is among the kinder. Not all gods see face to face with mortals enough to care, and she takes offering solely in home grown produce. Still, it sounds like your people make sacrifices of nothing, and so, you may be right it is not them you need to worry about.

As for Voracity, if you want to engage with her, bring her something to eat. It does not have to be edible by others, but try and make it something unusual. Fright long ago convinced her to use her enormous appetite for a cause that would endear her to others, so she now devours heaps and heaps of trash and other discarded things, that is transported to her domain. A never-ending feast, that helps clean up in much of Equestria, and some places beyond.

I would advice you to bring something from your home region, that others wouldn't consider food."

"I eat things others say are not food too."

"Then the two of you will probably get along well."

Voracity were a... Special being to interact with. She had no care for being brutally honest, and snacking on various things. Including homes, which had made her a pariah for a long time in the past. She were far more tolerated now, as she served a great function, but not all could handle one so brazen as her. Nor did they all find her jokes all that funny. But they'd see themselves, when they got the chance.

The Stone Matron nearly scowled. So this were now starting to include angry spirits of some kind, who wanted to take over the bodies of others, and considered the longma to be beings that should know their place, and obey. This were becoming one of those situations that wouldn't end well, wasn't it?

She would hear what else would happen, but this seemed a troubling start. The visual given right after did not make it better either, as another thing she could say for certain in life, were that rarely anything good, came from an old pyramid.

"Then I should go alone, yes? If there is danger for longma, I will not let Sen go with me.

Lin is already hurt. I do not accept it happening to him too."

Omen would be uncharacteristically stubborn on this matter, and refuse to budge on Sen joining her. She would outright tell him that she would send him away if he tried too. She might listen well to him and Lin, and accept their whims on things, because she thought they knew better than her, but in this matter, she exerted what control she did have over the situation, and would not accept that Sen would go into that pyramid. Who knew what could happen to him in there? She didn't, but whatever it were, it would likely be bad. And she did not want both of her friends and siblings, to be broken by something dark in that place.

"If it's spirits, you should bring one of the Macabre's members with you. They know spirits better than any others in Equestria. They could likely be of help."

"We have met some. I know their scents, so I can find them."

What a... Comforting thing to be told, by this creature. Though not surprising, considering who her master were. Of course nothing touched by Discord, could just be simple and straight forward.

Omen would believe many things. it were one of her flaws, she had been told. But flaw or not, listening would be good, yes? It could help them learn something, even if it sounded wrong. If it did, then maybe one of the others would raise their voice, and say what were wrong with it. Something that would leave her with other things to think about, such as this pyramid, and the way the voices had talked about it. It made her think of something else. A structure to look for, that they hadn't had much idea how to go about. Not even what country it were in.

"Sen? Do you think this is what the map was showing? Is this what we were looking for?"

@Rising Dusk

"She is quite right. Though do know that if ever you wish to return and learn, the library and this room too, of course, are open for you to examine in full. I ask only that you please refrain from letting curiosity get the better of you, and attempt to open the glass casings.  We take great pains in caring for the keepsakes of our former regents. Just as we do the statues of our heroes, which will soon have the addition of your son to them. I can imagine the stone matron being quite revitalized by the task."

He would spare them of the details of how much pain they sometime took, in caring for these things. Some had been less than kind to their history. Others had to be salvaged from rubble, or dug up from thieves who took it long ago, or worse. In the end, blood had been spilled to maintain what they saw, but those who had fallen for it, were not forgotten. They too had a pedestal in this place, with a large silver plate, engraved with their names, and a touching message for their sacrifices. A plate that had more space for it, in case more would perish, in pursuit of their history. They even made sure to note them in their history books, though not all had much written of them. While some were long time protectors, others were beings you would not have thought would go above and beyond. Types who had lived as dreary farmers their entire lives, suddenly picking up their tools, and rushing in to save something important.

They noted down what they could, but the short stories were still seen as important, as it reminded them that heroes big and small, might rest in any heart. The history book that had been given to the patriarch of the Dusk family, would hold such tales too.

"Perhaps it is time then, for us to move on. The celebrations are unfolding outside, and things will get official once more, soon as the statue is complete, and ready for reveal.

I'm afraid the theater is set to be the finale too. Something which will be visited after we feast. I believe we still have a half hour left, until that is. A time for all to rest their ears, and take in what have been seen thus far.

I might have ideas what to do til then. It depends on your wants, that is. I can present to you the statues of our former heroes, or perhaps escort you to a peaceful room, that mother sometimes uses when she needs to clear her head. Comfortable seating and a few books, with a recorder for low music. Mother finds it helps her concentrate, when life tests her a little too much.

We can of course, also go and see how it fares for our companions. Le Pourri keeps her company, but I can imagine things still weigh heavily upon Miss Wisp. Some encouraging words might lift her spirit somewhat."

Plenty of options really, and if they wished to do several, he could assist them in doing so too. He would likely call some knights then to help, if it were too many places. He would see what they would chose, though he assumed at least, that Star would find interest in seeing the statues, and the others would be somewhat split between resting their ears, or speak with Caramel and Will-O Wisp. He at least hoped that Rising would do the latter. She could use some encouraging words, to know that she would not arrive in Equestria with naught but Caramel by her side, and no idea what to do with herself. Far be it from him to openly judge many, but Le Pourri had a... Storied past among them. He wasn't sure how good it would be to have her with an isolated mare of Wisp's caliber, and potentially make her reliant on the old trader.

"Evening, I wouldn't have anything to sing about if little danger put my mood down." Chega stated in her usual cheerful tone "Quite the opposite, I strive to be there to cheer others up when things are bad." she added humbly, after which Sear cut in "She has been singing songs the whole time about me and these two." she gestured towards Sheska and Trox, who gave an amused 'of course' chuckle as response "Hey! not my fault I keep attracting great company." "But where are my manners..." she offered a hand for a shake towards the Elder "...I don't think we've met before, I'm Chega, and this lovely dragon here is Sear, it's nice to meet you Rhugan, did I hear right that you're an elder? It's an honor, I haven't had a chance to meet one before, are you as keen on pranks as the young of your kind is?" The way she spoke was cheerful and casual, but it had a level of distraction one could expect from someone who was in middle of eating, not that she minded the interruption, it just took few moments to gather one's mind, especially when it was as chaotic as Chega's.

----------------------------------

The first reaction from Ruby to the stranger was to look in the directions of both of her neighbors to see if this was anything to do with them, but there was no evidence it was, Mystic's house was as uneventful as always, and Ember, while clearly home due to the army of crows loitering around, didn't have anything weird going on either, the battle of animals had ended long time ago, and only evidence of it was few crows here and there eating the remains of dead snakes and crows.

After that, she addressed the stranger, not worrying about sounding mean "If you want something, just say it plainly, I have no interest in this whole riddle nonsense." "If not, I'd appreciate if you left, I know you're not technically doing anything wrong by just looking at my house from the road, but I don't really trust you cultist types." Charir didn't do much, but as he could read Ruby's feelings towards the stranger, he too was suspicious of them, and tensed up as if ready to act.

“We will consider other possible options, Stone Matron, but we need to first secure any threats living near the longma. Thank you. I’m not sure what other else there is that isn’t food because those are mostly the poisonous ones, and it wouldn’t make a good impression on Voracity.”

Poisonous mushrooms aren’t uncommon in forests, and the longma’s forest home is just as likely to have various kinds. Red ones with white spots are a prime example of things best left alone, though it does call to question how the older generations determined what was safe to eat. Then again, Sen might not want to know. The truth could be difficult to swallow, figuratively and literally speaking. It may not be an issue for Omen, but the opposite could be true for Voracity, and that will definitely draw the draconequus’s ire for sure.

On 2023-08-12 at 3:29 AM, Blitz Boom said:

"Then I should go alone, yes? If there is danger for longma, I will not let Sen go with me.

Lin is already hurt. I do not accept it happening to him too."

“The matter is theoretical until you come across the structure, but exercise caution whenever necessary. It would be best to have at least someone providing assistance. Going alone can be a dangerous prospect, especially when dealing with creatures like those who possess this type of magical signature. The Stone Matron speaks true, but without truly knowing the nature of the creatures we are facing, a specialist in spirits may not be ideal. We suggest an initial survey to learn what it is you face before bringing assistance. It is likely that they may be hiding behind magic and the guise of spirits as cover to conceal themselves.”

There was no physical evidence that could determine who wanted to enslave the longma, but being broken suggests spirits may be at work. Body snatchers who are jumping from host to host are likely, and the same could be said about those that are simply seeking a crude form of immortality by moving into different physical forms. Unfortunately, the shattered orb didn’t have any information about them; they were likely using whatever means necessary to hide themselves from those seeking them out.

Sen remained silent, not wishing to argue after giving his word about trusting Omen’s capability to defend herself. He still worried for her, and it was apparent in the way he looked at her that he wished he could join her, risks and all. At the same time, seeing Lin unconscious already meant he had to accept the reality that he was going to be a liability more than an asset. For all he knew, he’d probably end up being forced to fight someone he cared about. So much of this didn’t sound right, but he couldn’t contest anything without appearing unreasonable.

On 2023-08-12 at 3:29 AM, Blitz Boom said:

"We do not know, until you tell us."

“It is possible. A structure that big wouldn’t be missed easily, and if it is at the center of the glyphs we saw, it’s important enough to be recorded. Sadly, we can’t chase this lead, not with the elders’ meeting happening soon. We will need to just keep this in mind unless we somehow stumble into it.”

It would take a strange level of coincidence to see the step pyramid without trying, but it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility. The glyphs and the ruins were in the forest, and if those were there, what could possibly stop the step pyramid from being within the same territory? With so much already happening outside of this matter, finding it would complicate things further, as the risks brought up by the scholars present a clear, if seemingly absent, danger. There was still something else to discuss, and the longma would circle back to it.

“What is it that you are uncertain about?”

“It concerns the longma and what we found after tethering our magic to you and the orb. Being a creature that possesses the physical traits of equines and dragons despite their seeming incompatibility, it may be possible that you and Omen are more similar in a certain, possibly uncomfortable, regard.”

“What do you mean?”

“The flippant disregard for your lives in pursuit of host bodies or slaves suggests these unknown creatures see you as mere tools. If true, the longma could be artificial organisms; you may be their creation.”

Sen froze in disbelief, heart sinking at the thought that he may be an artificial creation. It can’t be; there’s too much to suggest otherwise, but the scholars haven’t been entirely wrong, and they might have found something to suggest truth in what they say. The longma sat and worried, looking at the orb, then the ground, then at Omen. Though he meant no malice in his thoughts, there was just no way he could be the product of someone else’s efforts. He was his own individual. Right?

Light would happily follow where Shark is and would try to persuade her to wipe the kimchi off of her face.

" We can always ask our friends to give us some of those food if you want, but licking it off wouldn't remove the stench and stain properly." He told shark.

" You kits dont mind if you could share some of that stuff when we get back to school right?" He asked the twins.

Then one thing lead to another.

" The events in this world is quite weird. A lot of things have happened and all of it is quite random.... First i was at school, now we're with you kits, fighting weird bad guys... Then poof we easily beat the villain. I think Discord is in play here." He questioned.

" What in Celestia is going on in this world..."

"I have a student who witnessed her devouring toxic waste, and complimenting the aroma. She gives me no reason to think she were lying of this, so I doubt poison would do much."

It were one thing that made Voracity so useful, that her various pranks, and occasional side snack, like a dog house or such, were just accepted as part of the package. Fright had been correct when she offered her kin a never-ending feast, and the appreciation of many. And thus, had Voracity been the first of her kin, that she had rehabilitated, even if it took time and effort, as well as several setback as thing were set up. Voracity were a... Strong willed individual, and thus didn't care much for holding her words back, nor take lip from annoyances.

"If so, it will not be until after midnight today. The transition will be done when the moon stand tallest, and they will once more wander in physical bodies."

Unless she had reason to delay it, that were the plan that would come into fruition, before the morning sun would break. The clay were ready, the bodies formed- All that remained, were for her to complete the ritual, as were her duty. Once it were done, they would once again wander the world, albeit in bodies of stone. Something that shouldn't be too hard to get used to. It hadn't for her, when she once upon a time, had cast off her frail body, of flesh and blood. She had been well attuned with the earth as it were, yet still, it should not prove much of a hurdle to these spirits either. They might feel lonely in a way though, no longer sharing a small space with the rest anymore.

"Maybe they were, but they create new ones themselves, like normal ones, yes? We have siblings, that were created. But they also have their own children. Sometimes they too have, many times over. I do not see how that takes away that they are real now.

If your kind was made, them maybe Mother will know something, that can help things, if you get hurt? Mother have made many of us. Seen masters make those of us that are whole. She would know things, if you were made."

"Don't be hasty. You have no guarantee it's the case. And even then, I would argue that it is functionally irrelevant for you as a species, beyond the the fact that it necessitates that you do not approach the ones who made you, as they'd know what to do to make you serviceable. You as a species, have evolved on your own. Spread and bred as much as any regular race have. So even if your creation were artificial in the first place, that holds little to no bearings on your current race.

You'd be surprised how many species out there were created in the first place. Discord made quite a few on his own, as an example."

If Sen would say anything along the lines of how the Stone Matron would know what it were like, to be told you were made artificially, she would simply glare at him, thinking it a foolish question, considering what she were, and what she did.

"It is just as potentially true, that the longma were a weaker race they stumbled upon when settling in, and bent them to their will. Potentially changed them somewhat, to make them simpler to control. Focus on what you do know, and leave questions like this for another time. It sounds as if you have enough for now, and the more you spread your focus, the less prepared you are for either thing."

"Many things are happening now. I do not know what we do from here, except make sure Lin is okay.

...If they were created, and you can tell that, does that mean you can help Lin, if her mind is broken? Or do I have to find something, in that pyramid?"

If the second were the case, she knew what she would be doing. That being, travelling to places she knew, and both see, and look around for it herself. See if there were some way to find the place. It weren't as if she needed to sleep anyway, so she had time to spend.

"If it's above the surface. I can imagine this knowledge is old? Sturdy as they are, pyramids can fall. And in some cases, they are buried. By nature, or by those who knows the evil within, and try to remove the sight of it, lest it invites an old evil to come back."

As he insisted, she'd let him help her get the last of it off, but she'd hope to try it again sometimes. Maybe try and dip a fish in it? That might taste good. She had seen ponies put different food things together, so she wanted to try too.

As for the twins, they'd look towards him as he asked, though thought for a moment before answering.

"We don't have anything with us, but we can see if maybe we can bring some back, the next time we visit home."

It weren't anything rare, nor hard to get. They had a fair bit of it in fact, so they could probably bring a jar back to Shark, without issue. Honestly it'd probably amuse a few back home, that a chaos creature like her, were a fan of their local cuisine like that in the first place. New, peculiar experiences, were highly treasured for their kind.

"But where are my manners..." she offered a hand for a shake towards the Elder "...I don't think we've met before, I'm Chega, and this lovely dragon here is Sear, it's nice to meet you Rhugan, did I hear right that you're an elder? It's an honor, I haven't had a chance to meet one before, are you as keen on pranks as the young of your kind is?" The way she spoke was cheerful and casual, but it had a level of distraction one could expect from someone who was in middle of eating, not that she minded the interruption, it just took few moments to gather one's mind, especially when it was as chaotic as Chega's.

The elder would look at the outstretched hand, and would reach her paw to it, to accept the shake. If the paw connected, a small jolt of energy would end up going up though her arm, and cause the kobold to sneeze an orange bubble, that started to float around them. Nothing that hurt, but as things were now calmer, and she herself had brought up the part of them being pranksters, it seemed too tempting a moment for her to pass.

"Oh, the mood can hit every now and again. Though as an elder, I am required to focus on my duties first and foremost. I am sure your leaders too know, when there is a time for laughs, and a time for action.

I am Elder Rhugan, of Rin-Zhu Hana. It is nice to meet you both."

The elder would smile a little wider towards the peculiar pair. While the kits were perky and sitting near the elder, with their tails flickering a little behind them, the elder sat calmly and still, presenting herself as a wise being, that one would come to for answers. Which in essence, were her role too, in the village. Elders were in charge, as they had the wisdom of a long life to lead them. Of course, you also had to take special training, and show you were worthy, but the title of elder were still not merely ceremonial. Barring a few exceptions, in troubling times.

"Elder Ni-Tohra's grandson that is a bard. He plays a variation of one of out traditional boards. A little strange, but the younglings seem to enjoy it well. And I can't deny it does liven up my old bones at times.

My great-grandkits will one day be notable kits of their own though. They show promise, and have a strong spirit in them. I can't play favorites, but I will admit having thought of them, when the talk came about sending a few of our kits here, to try and make bridges as they say, with your new princess. Imagine my pride, when I found them volunteering before I even brought it up.

Warms an old heart to see them willing to wander so far, for a chance at cooperation. Their father would have been proud."

Zhing and Hachi would bow their necks, mumbling a prayer, as their father had been brought up. He was no longer among them, but at least they hopefully had the chance to see him, on the day of spirits. They hoped that like Elder Rhugan said, that he would be proud of them.

As for Discord, I do hope to see him at some point. It is not the same, seeing him in tomes, or when he were a statue, and then seeing him wander in the flesh. It would be quite the sight. And don't worry we would try something. Draconequui and kitsune, do have a kindred understanding. Our way of life may be somewhat different, but we can meet in mischievousness and pranks. We show them respect, and applaud their more creative pranks, and they find ours amusing in kind too. In that we find harmony, and thus do not meddle with the stability of either our homes.

Discord is one of the eldest among them though. It is more interesting, the one of the younger of their kind. Or one of the half-breeds, for that matter."

A hollow, joyless laugh would escape the robed figure, who'd shake his head after a few seconds.

"Had I only such blind faith, clouding my eyes, life would be ever so easy."

He would then turn around, and while the face were still shrouded int he dark, what were not, were the two eyes gazing at them. Slit like a snake's eyes, they glowed golden, and fixated on the group. At which point Leviathan had enough and used a bit of magic to try and blow his hood off. She wanted to see what this one's deal were. And then another wind and came countering hers.

"Find bliss in ignorance."

"Bite me."

He might have some wind, but she were stronger at it, though next time, he would still counter her wind. At which point she were getting annoyed. He would hold a paw up though, seeking her to halt.

"I shall leave peacefully. There is naught for me to do here."

For a brief moment, the end of a snake's tongue would be seen, slithering out and tasting the air.

"Wait... Paws and snake- Serpanther? What's one of your kind even doing here? I thought you weirdoes were nomads out east."

"My kin wanders seek only a brighter tomorrow, while I long sought better and worse. My answer is not here, as yours is not a path, that engulfs the land in flames and death."

His gaze would land on Charir for a brief moment before, before he averted his gaze, and began to wander away.

"At least, it is but a small chance. One I doubt will need me to interfere. May your futures be on flourishing branches."

He would not say more, before he'd start to wander off, though Leviathan would stand still and ponder. Something was off about this one...

"...I wonder if that was Zhu. Eh, I suppose it doesn't matter. Should we just get to it?"

Ah yes, the statue being made for Rising.  To be presented at the climax of the festival he figured.  Then likely his stone visage totted away to this hall of hero statues some time the later.  Who could forget about that?  Well, Rising couldn't, can't actually, but it had momentarily slipped Dawn's mind.  There is so much left to this celebration, and that was just what was likely planned to be seen by the family.  It was hard to tell how many days this might actually last for the land of Harrowmark.  But there was a little bit of a time line put before them now.  The revealing ceremony, a feast and then ending with the theater.  Grace, wasn't the most pleased to hear this time line, but she showed no evidence of it on her face.  Instead, the most subtle flex of in her wing that the family at least recognized.  "The best for last, mother dearest," the older sibling soothed to her mother.   "As it should be," the pegasus agreed with a pleasant, well practiced smile.  End with a grand finale, as it were.  Dawn couldn't help but wonder though if her brother would be receiving such a production.  She'd sure like a premiere invitation to that.

"A combination," the detective suggested.  "Ho ho ho.  Quite right, quite right my dear boy.  This peaceful room sounds delightful.  And invite the lovely lasses down to join us.  We'll rest up for the final stretch of the day.  We have a portal now, right?  I can come tickle my fancy in these lovely history halls and libraries during a more relaxed and less rushed time.  Ho ho ho," Star bellowed.  Grace clenched her jaw at the thought of her husband wondering back into this dark land all by his lonesome.  "What he said," Rising affirmed.  He were less concerned about his father's return to the castle.  Likely to be in tow with many of his students and undergrads.  Plenty of eyes to keep track of the older stallion, along with all the extra learning his students would gain.  Nothing like a good field trip to keep the young minds motivated.

“It would be best to wait and see when you’ll encounter the structure before deciding when you will conduct your search. As the Stone Matron says, when we will gain our bodies after midnight, and once we are accustomed to them, we can provide assistance. Though we have our obligations and desires once we are separated from each other, those can be put on hold when you need us. However, this may need to be sorted out with Ms. Scarcity, so it is likely not all of us will be able to join you. As said, it is wait and see.“

The scholars haven’t forgotten the deal with Scarcity, and though Sen had already voiced his suspicions about what the mare wanted, it was better to have her as an ally instead of an enemy. A fact made more apparent by the scholars intervening on the mare’s behalf means they have to at least stand by their words. There was no contesting it now, as a deal had been made, and one side of the agreement was about to come to fruition. It would be good to see the world in a new form, no longer constrained by being an object at the mercy of anyone’s whims.

“There is a distinction in being a creature given the capability to procreate, though it may hint at some nefarious purpose behind the decision if whoever created the longma intended it so. Hints of it could be found on your body, but it is also possible that your physical form is natural, and the tampering could lie elsewhere. The true extent of your kind’s creation is unknown, so all this is academic and speculative until something definitive comes our way.”

Everyone’s words were encouraging, though didn’t seem to affect Sen. He remained worried and sullen, still unsure what to make of this. He was real, not someone’s creation. For the longest time, the longma were their own creatures, individuals with personal stories distinct from each other and a history of shared pain and determination to never be anyone else’s tools. There was no way they could be a product of some other creature’s desire.

As for the scholars, they’d have to plan their moves with Omen now, as any developments on the matter could lead to more discoveries, dangers, and unsavory implications. The pursuit of knowledge is always at the forefront, but not when it could get someone hurt.

“It is hard to say if we can truly help Lin, but when you are able, please bring her to us. Old knowledge from the step pyramid could be valuable, but ensuring the safety of your friends is just as important. For now, it is impossible to know if anything in the structure will be of help, so it is best to work with what can be learned safely.”

Things were truly moving at a much quicker pace now; Sen couldn’t imagine just how it was going at this moment, but he wished he could still do something to help. The risks were unclear, but there was no doubt about the danger of such a task.

“Omen? I know I can’t go with you, but please don’t rush into this. If you sense danger or find yourself in a risky situation, turn back and find safety. Finding the truth isn’t worth it if the risks are too high.”

Chega let out a short chuckle "Good, everyone should let themselves be silly sometimes, and if someone can't take a joke, it's on them." it probably wasn't surprising that a bard thought like that "It's nice to meet you too." Sear gave a nod of agreement as her 'nice to meet you'. Chega didn't comment on the leader comment, as she didn't deem it important to correct the Kitsune on the fact that her community didn't have leaders in that way.

"My career also started by singing to the young, it's hard to find more captive audience than bunch of eggs and young lizards with nothing but curiosity in their minds." "But alas, you can only sing the same stories so many times." Chega smiled as she looked at the kitsune siblings "While not a parent myself, I can relate to that pride, for various reasons I became very close to many in my community, and seeing them take on the challenges of life was always inspiring." as she said it, Chega gave a reminiscing look towards the other two kobolds, who also seemed to be reminded of something, though the difference was that while Chega remembered with optimistic warmth, the siblings had a hint of sadness sprinkled in.

Regarding the fate conversation, Chega and Sear stayed quiet, focusing on Finishing their meals, while Sheska and Trox were the ones to speak.

"To test fate is a must, to challenge it." "For if you fear it, you will never do anything." "We went against fate, rose against impossible odds, and lost, but without our willingness to go against fate, the good we made wouldn't have happened." "We spite fate like those before us, as it is better to fall proud than rise in cowardice." possibly a bit extreme stance for some, but it was coming from the two creatures who had stated before that if an all-powerful creator existed, they'd punch it in the face.

------------------------------------------------------

Ruby didn't say anything due to Leviathan doing what she did, though a thought visited her mind when the creature looked at them 'how spooky, not like every predator can do that.', unsurprisingly, pair of eyes surrounded by shadow wasn't that concerning to a creature who was usually the most dangerous thing around. Charir also still stayed back, as while he could tell Leviathan was the one causing the wind, he didn't spot anything that gave him a reason to think it was going to be a fight, partly because he knew that Leviathan could do lot more if her intention was to hurt the weird creature.

"Am I really so bad that even creatures I didn't know exists come around to make sure I don't destroy the world?" Ruby let out in...humorous tone? it was hard to tell really, she didn't sound serious, but she wasn't really amused either "Eh, whatever." she would then go unlock her gate. "Who is this Zhu you mentioned, a friend of yours?" she asked few moments later after letting the two others on her yard and then moving to open the door.

TWILIGHT SPARKLE

"I believe I'm ready to leave now. It sounds like Cherish can meet up with someone," Twilight told the group. She was still recovering somewhat from the soul separation so she'd rather stay on Magnolia's back. "I'm happy you survived the separation, Cherish and yes, Magnolia. We'll have to catch up when there's less excitement going on."

DAWN STREAK & DAZZLE GLEAM

"They wouldn't just leave without leaving a note ... maybe. I don't even know when this could have happened beyond it being after I started my journey," Dazzle said quietly, sounding distant but shook her head. She tried to get the tears shaken out but was unsuccessful and they fell down her face. "I can't just ... stay out here. I have to go ... go into the empty house b-but ... I ... it's hard," she whispered, her legs shaking a bit as she stared through the open door.

Dawn, though, would look back through the portal at some of the shifting blob creatures in the shadows. "They all look so ... weirdly cute?" Dawn said in confusion, staring at a group of similar looking blobs from the safety of the group. "I think? It's hard to tell."

AURORA LIGHTS

"I did not think your mind powers would be this strong," Aurora said in amazement, surveying the mostly empty cart. "Is being a Changeling Queen this ..." she trailed off and her gaze settled on Happy while he explained Las Pegasus to her. She nodded along, taking in the information and blinked a few times. "Cloud walking can be done by non-Pegasus!? That's awesome! But ... one thing bothers me. Tourist traps? Do they trap the tourists in a jail cell?"

KARMIC FATE & ATZY

"WHOA! THIS IS SO COOL!" Atzy cheered excitedly. She had never seen so many colours burst to life before and to make pictures out of them in the sky? It was simply amazing to her! "Oh, oh oh, maybe ..." she thought about a trick with gems and lit her horn. From what appeared to be instinct, a dull gray magic field disappeared into the ground in front of Atzy. A second later a clear gem popped out of the ground and she threw it up into the sky. It ended up in the middle of the colourful exploding field. As an errant firework hit the gem, colours blasted out in all directions. "Haha, yes!"

"I did not expect that," Karmic said in complete surprise at the display.

They would barely have opened the door, before a mare came rushing over. She looked like any regular mare, with a cutie mark in the shape of a flower and watering can, so likely someone married into the family.

She'd get closer, and whisper something to Madame Macabre, that would make her narrow her eyes.

"If you will excuse me, I need to go and address a situation. You needn't concern yourself with it.

Stitch? Guide our guests around in my absence, but keep them away from the library."

"Are you sure that you don't need-"

"That was an order."

The glare from the old mare, made Stitch shake. She might be made of felt, and wasn't easy to really hurt, but the current matriarch were scary to her, when the old mare wanted to be. Though it added too, that this meant that something potentially dangerous were ahoof, and that she required the princess and her group to be protected. An ominous omen indeed.

She would wander off, headed back towards the main building, where something were definitely off. The doorway, seemed to have been torn off its hinges, and laid on the ground, several meters down the street.

"Okay... So, we're just gonna be having ourselves a nice little tour, in the exact opposite direction."

Unless there were complaints, that would be to head them towards a cafeteria, about three minutes walk from them. Wasn't a big place, but it had the essentials. Coffee's, buns, a few food options, etc. Sure they were a reclusive bunch here, and the village were special, but even they needed a break every now and again, and a sufficiently open-minded entrepreneur, would have an easy enough time, setting something up in here. Though judging by the sign outside, the owner were a young mare, with the colors of a sundae ice cream, whereas the one behind the counter, were a stallion. One that Twilight might know, depending on if she ever took notice of the pet food store owner, that had been in Ponyville, until about a week ago, when he moved to Canterlot. One that Fluttershy did not like, because he used real meat in his pet food for carnivores, rather than the fake stuff, that some others did. Stuff that he hunted and fished for himself.

P9fqCMJ.png

"Well I'll be darned. Never thought I'd run into the princess of Ponyville, out here of all places."

Double Chow would raise a hoof to greet them. Even the odd bug that was following them around, which he didn't seemed all that fazed about. Nor the fact that Twilight was being carried.

"What can I do for ya, princess?"

Dazzle would find that as she stood shaking, Stare would get closer, and put her hoof on her shoulder, as she stood next to her.

"Soon as you're ready, I'm with you, Dazzle. You won't be doing it alone."

She hadn't known her for long, but Stare would like to think of Dazzle as a friend. One of the very few that she had, and she couldn't just sit idly by, when a friend needed her... Right? Dazzle were clearly shaken, and not expecting this, nor knowing how to deal with it. It were not a time to leave her alone. She needed to be supported, and know there were someone else there, to help her, yes?

As said, Stare didn't have many friends, so she wasn't sure how to deal with everything, but she felt fairly sure that this were the sort of case, where she should be with Dazzle, and show her support. Both physically, and mentally.

"Oh they can be, darling. You even give them shape yourself, by adding a tinge of magic. That is what I did with my dear Hammond.

As it is, if you have magic, you simply wander in, and pick one whose eyes you like. It is the only part that does not change, and thus, you form around that. Of course, you do need approval from their elusive Mother, but it appears she accepts most. I would think only those who would be horrid parents, and trying to make them attack, would be denied. She appears to be highly against them ever attacking others.

Lovely creatures though. And these portals are delightfully practical. I certainly advise those with no ulterior motives to give them a try. provided they have active magic, of course, as that is required to give them shape."

The blobs would change around, but various ones would look towards her, with innocent, curious eyes, in various shapes. Some slit, some large, some small, from 1 to 12 eyes, which though the shadows mixed together, you could differentiate, due to their shapes and sizes being different. The only constants, would be that the eyes were pale grey, and full of innocent curiosity, as they gazed at both the living creatures here, and the world beyond them. That is what they yearned for after all. To go out there, and see a colorful world full of wonder. That is what they all wanted, and through masters, they could get that.

Mother could sadly only do half the work. They needed an anchor to another world. The magic used to form them, by a being inhabiting that world? That were the anchor, and would allow them to be whole, and free to see wonders beyond their wildest fantasies.

"This is naught but foal's play. I have controlled hundreds. Brought entire towns to a state of confused chaos, as friends ad family turned on one another, fighting for me, because I made them believe that they were loyal to me, and always had been. This? A single pony, now and again? I hardly need to focus.

I am aware that I shouldn't find pride in my actions. That I am meant to repent my past actions."

She'd stretch a hoof out, and look upon her colorful self. So different from how she once were. So... Self sufficient, and whole. A sharp contrast, to how she had been before.

"I find that while I attempt, and do find some small ounce of displeasure, with some of my actions, I do not regret as much as I probably should. Perhaps one day, that will change, though for now, I can't see myself wanting to suddenly weep for those I took, or wander towards all I meet, on bent knees, and begging for forgiveness."

Being a redeemed changeling, did not suddenly make you a better being. It meant that she could no longer do unspeakable things, for the sake of feeding her hive, as that were no longer a concern. But it didn't change what she had done, nor how she thought of them. Time would be required for that. Though at least she regret some things. That would be a start, albeit minor.

"Different beings, approach a change in morality differently, my queen. I see change, and know it will only get better."

"Your trust is appreciated, Happy."

To think how close she had been, to simply snap his neck, before she turned him... A fortunate turn of events, that her curiosity had been greater than her sense of practicality, at the time.

"Also, they don't trap you up there. A tourist trap means somewhere that's enticing to be for tourists, so they come and spend their currency there. Y'know, on food, excitement, some gambling- That sorta thing. And Las Pegasus have something for everyone, with the cloud layer being the more foal friendly place. It used to be hard to monetize though, it being in the clouds and all, and not all being pegasi, but some clever unicorns figured out how to handle it, and the town's been booming ever since.

Like I said, the hive we're after, is in the lower part. But we can have a gander up top before that, if you'd like? There's no rush."

Blitz looked up at the gem added in, making it more of a light show. Sure it sorta messed up the imagery, but at that point, most of the good stuff had been shown, and it added a more cool finish to things.

"Oooooh. I need to add gems to the next one! That's so pretty!"

Blitz would be ecstatic, and run around Atzy at high speed, so gleeful that a normal changeling would feel the emotional equivalent of overly sweet, due to her high intensity of joy. Even been a changeling that had gotten ill near her before, claiming that it felt like he were getting emotional diabetes.

"That's my sister for ya. If it can explode, she'll make it happen, and often-time it ends up looking good. Like this here is."

"I will admit to it being rather... Well done."

Enzo were trying to remain prideful about things, but his face had betrayed him before, as a smile and calm, carefree joy had been seen on his face for a few seconds, as the fireworks had gone off. He had forgotten how beautiful things, that could sometimes be made. Even by minds that were seen as inferior, and that he had been raised to be told were but servants, waiting for the right master to utilize them properly. Ponies could yet surprise and delight him, without it going to such lengths.

@Rising Dusk

"indeed, the best for last. The unveiling of the statue, will be the highlight that capstones a breathtaking day. And to think that it is raised, while said hero is still alive? An honor that have not always been the case. But we can go over history another time perhaps. I will send word to have our other guests escorted to the room. If you would give me a moment please."

The last parts of the celebration they would be needed for, were more to be in the line of food, then theater, and then the statues. The food were meant to go in between, but the theater director wanted things to be perfect, so it took a bit longer. He should perhaps have said that clearer, but they would see soon enough anyway. And they would hopefully be as taken by it, as most of them were.

Necrotic would withdraw one of the dice from his pocket, and use a little magic to engulf it in a ghastly aura, taking the form of a small sparrow around the dice. It would also carry a message in the spellwork, and be sent off, flying down the halls, looking for the correct one to take his message. Their companions should be joining them soon enough.

And what a room it would be. Cozy, with big, comfortable chairs, and a magical fire that would light in the chimney as they entered. It wouldn't cause smoke, but would set the mood as it were. There were also empty trays, with pens and notepads on them. Rising would be able to tell that there were magic enchanting them, so that if you wrote something down, and set the note on the tray, it would be teleported elsewhere int he castle, where someone would then begin to try and have what were asked for, prepared, and then teleported to the trays. Provided they knew what it were, that were asked for.

There were also several books. Some historical, others fairy tales, and one stuck in the wall, with a knife through the thick tome. It appeared to have been there for a while, and had Twisted's face on it. The title were scratched out, but it were likely some sort of biography, or revised history book. One that were not appreciated, but if they wanted some insight into him, they could take and read that.

The others would show up about seven minutes later, escorted by Gertrude herself. Out of uniform, but she had been near, and thus, wanted to take them there herself.

"H-Hello again..."

Will-O were still looking downtrodden, but at least it appeared that she hadn't cried further, since last time. She now also were in possession of a couple of saddlebags, were likely all her possessions that she could take with her, were in. That they were not large, and still not filled, said something about what had been able to be gained, as well as given to her.

Her large crow were also still on her back, eyes closed and apparently resting, though it were more complicated than that. Chirpy were undead after all, and thus didn't need sleep. He did however, still like to pretend, so he were sort of meditating, which were about the closest he could get to it. It worked well as a comfort thing though.

"Oh, darlings. It's been far too long."

Lily were not present. Off to handle something, asked of her by Necrotic, but she would rejoin them later. Frankly, he had just wanted her to not be in the same room as Caramel right now, as he did not want the mood to sour further. Those two did not see eye to eye, to put it mildly.

As for Caramel? She too had a couple of saddlebags, but they were more filled. She also had traces of magic on her, that indicated that she had recently been lifting more things, via magic, indicating she probably had other things in a crate or something, somewhere else. Potentially in the portal room.

She were still in the patchwork outfit from before, whilst Will-O carried her old dress too. They were not joining in on the festivities as it were, so it mattered little to be dressed up for them.

"Ladies. It is good of you to rejoin us."

"Well, when his majesty asks so kindly, how are we to refuse? Besides, some company will do well."

"How... H-Have you been enjoying y-yourselves?"

Will-O were trying, but she looked about as mentally drained as she felt. Today were a day when things had just kept piling up on her, and it weren't the easiest to handle right now.

However, this may need to be sorted out with Ms. Scarcity, so it is likely not all of us will be able to join you. As said, it is wait and see.“

"So it sounds like it is important to find that place soon. I should go and look when we are done here then. I can go many places, and do not need to sleep. I have time to look."

"Seems practical. As for you, brace yourselves for adapting to your new vessels. I can not say how long it will take for you, to adjust properly. It could be all from seconds, to months. Yet I will give you the same advice, that I have given others over the decades, that stood in a position like yourselves: Try not to think about it. The more you focus on the change, and try to act on every feeling, the more complicated it will be. Your bodies are meant to feel and act naturally, so to some extend, let your instincts guide you.

We will go over the more practical parts, when I see how well you do though. It will not be long now."

"I will try. You make sure that Lin and Shrimp are okay."

Omen were a... Mixed bag, when it came to mind tricks. On one hoof, she were gullible, and could be conned into things with words, or some illusions at times. On the other, she could tell if an illusion wasn't a real being, and her mind weren't possible to take over. Simple as it were, her mind were still screwed on strangely, and trying to attack it, you'd probably end up less as an invader, trying to gain control, and more of another toy for that kitten that made up one part of her brain, to bash around. She would be pretty much still and lost to the outside though, if it came to that. Without the kitten to bash her around in there, her instinct told her to freeze, and wait.

Basically, she were weird, to a point where normal things just didn't function as it should. Curtsy of Discord.

"You should return to her, and see how she is doing, then continue your search. You will be called, when the ceremony is about to happen."

They might recall that Scarcity had given them those crystals, for her mysterious companions to drag them away. A situation where if Lin were not feeling better, they might want to make sure they went back, and took that from her. Just before she were whisked away, in the midst of her treatment. As for how that treatment went currently? It depended on hos messed up her mind were, after the encounter. From here, it were impossible to tell the impact properly. Though if she really were cracked in there, or even lost somewhere, beyond normal reach? Even stuck with another presence, fighting for who would gain control of her body? It would have gone to a higher authority, than the school nurse. Much, much higher.

The elder simply kept her smile on her face, saying no more of that. If the other-worlder wished to tempt fate, that were on him. Whatever would come of it, were a bed that he had prepared for himself Though of course, nothing might happen. Tempting fate, and karma punishing you for that, were two very different things. He would see in time. or perhaps, he would not, though she doubted it. much like Ponyville itself, this one seemed to be the sort, that trouble followed.

"You would get along well, with Elder Cha. He loves telling stories to the young. Day after day, they flock to him, to hear what tales he have to tell them next, of his own life, or what stories others of our kin have brought him.

It is ingrained in many, to seek guidance and wisdom from their elders. So I am not surprised your first audiences, were of the young, and the yet to be born. In many ways, it makes me happy to hear that you have it in you, to inspire them, and think of them, even as your travels take you far away. It speaks well of your character."

A plate with biscuits and three cups of tea would be brought to the elder, and her great grandkits, and she would halt speaking momentarily, to thank the innkeeper for bringing it over. As well as then have a sip of the piping hot tea.

"Aah, that eases a sore throat.

As an elder, our job is to lead. To bring prosperity and wisdom to our kin. So young and old, they come to us, seeking guidance, and we give it to them, best we can. And in time, we will rejoin the ancestors, and someone new will take our place, bringing wisdom of their own to our kin, whilst remembering our history. So when one day I will return during Inu-Gihahru, I can see that our kin is still given the guidance and wisdom they need to survive.

Your path is different in many ways, but still, you affect a generation, if not more, with action and song. There is well placed pride, to be found in that."

"...Faaaa-te. Fate. Kill fate? What is fate? Is it tasty?"

"Think little of it, young lady. They simply want to say, that they pick their own future."

Shark would ponder over that for a bit, trying to grasp the concept.

"...Special one, take Shark from ocean. She is... Fate?"

"No. But she did change your fate, by changing you, and setting you free here. So she did change your future, from what it would have been."

"So Fate... Bad? Yes?

Urgh... This makes head hurt."

Shark were trying, and she did grasp something, but it would also entail her trying to grasp what fate exactly were, and then, why it did bad things. Special one had changed her fate, so that meant she were changing her story, yes? That was good. But then, did she not pick her new fate? Wasn't that bad too then? Her mind were swirling with questions, and little to no answers.

"Try not to think about it, and merely live your life to the fullest. That is the best most can and should hope for."

"Shark try."

"Good. If not, you will simply start looking and looking, and before you know it, come afoul of the harbingers of Karma. It is best to simply leave them be, to do their thing in peace.

And speaking of peace, for as long as it lasts, what is your aim now, hm? What strive you for, now that this fight is over?"

"Shark want fishy."

There were many things one could say about Shark, but despite what she were, she were still surprisingly uncomplicated, and simple. She didn't see grand plans, and twenty years ahead. She wanted to have a fun time until egg season, and have some pups. But that wasn't now, so after a long day, she'd just like a fishy. Ideally a yummy, yummy tuna.

@Catpone Cerberus

"A friend? Hay no. I've never even seen him before, and good riddance for that. He's a bad omen.

How to explain this... You know how there's future tellers, seers, oracles, and all that stuff? Y'know, creatures who claim to know the future?

Far as I hear it, Zhu came out of nowhere some nine-hundred or so years ago, claiming that they only see slivers, or a likely future, but that there's no set future. Choice can change what happens, and he supposedly sees all the futures, that someone's choice can make, and works to ensure that some of them will happen, to keep some sort of balance going."

She'd follow in, looking briefly up towards the sky, before they'd get inside once again. The wide blue yonder... A sight ever more tempting, that a box of stone and wood, in her mind.

"Now I don't have much belief in fate, karma and all that stuff, but the stories keep stable, that if you see Zhu, or worse yet, he comes to speak with you, it's a sign that something big is coming. Though in those stories, he didn't sound so... Goalless, I guess? Like he wasn't certain about what to do when he saw us.

Meh. Maybe the stories have just been blown way out of proportions, or he's judged that we weren't someone he'd need to worry about anymore. Either way, this here's gonna be nagging my brain  I don't like unpredictable elements of this scale, and with where we're aiming to go? Maybe just a coincidence. But I think it's best to just, keep an eye out for trouble.

Fate or not, a bad omen is a bad omen, yeah?"

With that, she'd follow in. They had some treasure to lay off here. Or well, Ruby did. They were along for the ride, but that were her hoard to deal with, and thus, they hadn't a right to meddle with that part. Leviathan wouldn't even ask to see it. Didn't seem proper to ask something like that, y'know? They'd have to be closer for that, in her opinion. Though she were curious what sorta trap setup, that Ruby had going. Seemed like it were probably something deadly.

"Maybe we will meet him someday." "Stories are important to us kobolds, we are creatures of struggle, we aren't magically gifted like your kind, we are not physically strong like dragons, all we have is our persistence, our willingness to work together to go against impossible odds." "That is what I sing about, have always sang about, not individual heroes, not individual greatness, but the power of cooperation, the importance of community." "And even while on the quest for my own happiness, I'll never stop thinking of those I left behind, because above all else, I'm a kobold like them."

"Way to dodge the praise" Sear commented with amused tone, gently patting the smaller lizard's head "But she's right, you're just too stubborn to admit it." Chega tried to stay neutral, as if the praise didn't affect her, but her eyes betrayed her, showing the delight she felt from Sear's words. It was true that she had hard time accepting praise, after all, she had never done this for fame or fortune, she just wanted to make others happy, keep them entertained, except for Sear, as Sear's approval always made her delighted in different level, sure she knew the love went both ways always, but getting the words out of the otherwise few worded dragon always hit different.

Regarding the fate conversation, Sear and Chega still didn't take part in it, and The kobold twins kept their response simple.
"We have no need to 'kill fate', in fact, we don't even expect to meaningfully change it." "We just don't take it without a fight." "We also never said we shun fear." "We still fear losing each other, we still fear lot of things." "We just don't let it control us." "As fear is...or in our case was, a weapon used by the oppressor, a tool to control us."

For the question, the siblings shrugged "Same as before it started, we'll try to find our place in this world." "Settle down somewhere." "We didn't ask for it, but we have been given a second chance in life, so no point wasting it." "It may take a while to get used to peace, but we have no intent to pointlessly continue the circle of violence." "Though we do need to get certain unwanted family reunion out of the way first."

For the reptile couple, Sear was the one to answer "For us the road is calling, but we won't leave before these two have a more solid roof over their heads." she pointed at Sheska and Trox, and before they could say anything, Chega cut in "I insist, as long as it's my money keeping up your roof, I'm not going anywhere." "Besides, you still owe me those stories."

---------------------

"Ah, one of those freaks." Ruby stated "I find the whole talk of fate pointless, if it exists, and you can't affect it, why worry about it? and if you can change it or it doesn't exist, why worry about it?" "And karma, if that exists, why is my mother still alive." as she spoke, she neared the basement door, but she suddenly stopped, and while she was back towards Leviathan, her demeanor implied that she was thinking "Actually, I have thought about fate, but not like that." she then admitted, she turned to face Leviathan as she spoke, she was her usual serious self, but there was certain thoughtfulness to her, "I don't think there's some set in stone plan for everyone, but I have wondered if someone, or something, is pulling strings for me specifically." "You may ask why, and, well it's quite simple, I should be dead." her expression was....honest.

"Back in that ravine I mean, I've killed lot of dragons, I've seen other dragons kill lot of dragons, I've never seen anyone survive that kind of injuries, except for myself." "I was crushed badly enough to break most if not all of my bones, that should damage organs too should it not?" "I did lose lot of blood."  "Not to mention the convenience of the location, not in regards of what happened to me obviously, but after that, how come I was the one to find all that information?" she then gestured at the necklace on her neck "And now this."

"I'm not much of a believer in that stuff either, but my survival has bothered me for a while, it's not like I out-willed death either, because I begged for death, I was ready to give up." the last mention may have been bit of a bomb to drop, if she hadn't mentioned it before, she frankly didn't remember, but this time, unlike the last time they were here, she actually let Leviathan to react to what she said instead of leaving her to process it alone.

“There is no stopping you in this matter, is there? Do not let us hold you back, Omen; only exercise utmost caution when you do so. There is no telling what else lurks in the shadows unseen.”

The scholars would be rather uncharacteristically pushy in this matter, but the danger is always present, and their more natural emotional ties to the living have seemingly begun to manifest despite being an orb. Time spent away from the mortal coil supposedly hardened them into adhering to cold logic, yet this unexpected development was most unusual. They wouldn’t question it regardless as they turned their attention to the Stone Matron. New bodies awaited them soon, and they would want some natural feelings to come as they did.

“Very well, Stone Matron. We will await what comes next, but we greatly appreciate your help and guidance. It will be interesting to acclimate to physical bodies once more after countless lifetimes.”

It seemed like things were calm for now, and attention was drawn to other important matters. Likewise, Sen had his own matters to attend to, and having said his piece to Omen, he’d do as he was asked. Lin needed someone to attend to her if her consciousness returned. It would be good to see if she were doing better now, but that would be up to whether the kitsune looking after her were to allow visitors.

“All right. Omen? Can you open a gate back to Lin and the kitsune? If you want to head out and find out more about the pyramid, I’ll inform you of Lin’s status when you get back. Scholars? Stone Matron? Thank you for your time. I should go and see my sister.”

Sen didn’t feel enthusiastic about what he had learned, and coupled with how many complications came about, he already began to feel the stress. That said, he’d still respectfully bow to them both before leaving for the kitsune’s home realm. As for Lin, she’d still appear unconscious if anyone were to check up on her. The extent of the damage was impossible to tell through sight alone,  but all seemed as normal as one could get. She would need to be awake to see any changes, but if given some time, Lin would slowly come to, as her eye movements began with little flutters just barely visible under her eyelids. Perhaps this may be the first of some good signs to come, but Sen will welcome any positive news now.

"I sure hope they are!" Whett Kindle had responded on their journey into town. "We all have, like, scars, man. Some more an obstacle than others, but you can't let that get in your way of living a life, finding a place ah peace, y'know? After all, you aren't the first one to run screaming from me!"

There had been other attempts to come into town, sure. Often it was with the stray filly that wandered too far out of town on adventures and didn't really know how to calmly greet a new, larger stallion that had a tendency to literally explode or the odd off pony that didn't really cope well with sudden surprises from a stranger on the road. Whett would think better of that attempt to contact society at large and head back off into the wild again to stand under a nice waterfall (oddly, the nature of Equestria sure did have alot of pituresque waterfalls) and tell himself, repeatedly, that that was just a bad day for those involved, a mistake that wouldn't happen again. It didn't mean he was a monster for looking different, that he would not, would not, be like his parents and wreck things to such a point that a whole culture had to change just to get them to be Normal. So many nights alone with thoughts, quivering under waterfalls, headbutting trees to just think something other. He had to have a place somewheres. Where he was leaving sure wasn't normal.

Surely Ponykind didn't always have to put magical mind dampeners on them just so they wouldn't drive themselves extinct. They must be doing something right, or they wouldn't have so many towns.

"Can't worry! If anything happens, we'll burn that rubble when we get to it! .......... that, uh, was probably a poor choice of words, wasn't it?"

"Meat!! Why i've had a few before! MEAT, hah! Hardly worth the exercise to get, I'd say!"

The kirin had said in a notably loud enough voice to carry towards other customers that might hold some mild worrying concerns and awkward glances over such words being said in a tone of voice given to somepony unused to being around others and using an "Indoor Voice." The bombastic reply carried a suspicious whiff of faint brimstone to Alonsus reminiscent more of inventors and those that play with matches. Hopefully the former, he would think.

"I'M just so glad to meet you, man! Welcoming me to your place of business thingy! I've, like, NEVER been INSIDE a building before!!"

A cozy room it was.  Rising could understand why it'd be a good place for one to clear their minds, away from the daily toil of ruling a nation such as Harrowmark.  He'd explored more in the realm of royalty here in the few hours they'd been here than in all of Canterlot Castle.  It was a wonder if the Celestial Sisters had such a room.  The room reminded the detective of his father's study, far be it a much, much less cluttered study.  But it was the feeling of relaxation in a familiar room that mattered the most.  The hours spent being read books on their father's lap by a roaring fireplace late into the evenings while they offered empty promises of 'just one more chapter' to a mother that wished them to bed.

The room even came complete with enchanted trays.  Magic Dump Waiters really.  Short range teleportation points for small objects or meals to be send back and forth.  Yet another well built thought to keep the Queen in her cozy room without the need to interact at any real degree.  And here they were, murking it up with their presence.  Alright, probably a harsh estimate as they were just visitors and had no real plans on staying long enough to ruin the room.  Grace and Star took up seats near the smokeless fireplace, enjoying each other's company in their moment of peace from the festivities and information overload.  Dawn and Rising stood ready to receive their own group of visitors.

"Hello again to you as well," Dawn greeted the downtrodden mare.  She did look a little better, all things considered, but it would take a good deal of time to real any sense of normal.  All in a new home.  A new start.  "Too long?  Only a few hours is too long?" Dawn couldn't help but chuckle.  It appears they had made a good impression on Carmel to say the least.  "It's been an experience," Rising responded to Willow's inquiry.  "Definitely kept us on our hoofs.  But it has been a wonderful experience.  And the Prince here has promised that it has yet to reach an end," the sister smiled.

"Well, your hours have been filled with experiences and sights. Ours were quite a bit more muted, and so, it did not go along as quickly. Still, we have been spending it well, preparing for the afterparty, as it were.

I can imagine you'd like to inspect our belongings before we cross borders with them though, hm? Feel free to, though such banalities can wait for now. It is best that you get a rest, before the next stage."

"Yes, I do agree. It it best that all get a breather, before our honored guests move on with the final parts of this joyous day."

"It is good to h-hear that someone have had one, at least..."

Sure they had been taken care of well enough. Both Caramel and her, had been fed, and been accommodated as well as one could be, considering they had to be hidden, but it were not the same as being out there, where the roar of celebration sometimes reached a peak, where they could hear it in the side rooms, and old tunnels they had to use.

They had also gotten help getting their belongings here to the castle. The stuff that weren't given out to others, or burned that were, though the latter were mostly regarding a few things that Caramel owned. Certain things had been kept for.... Investigative purposes, and were best disposed of properly, before she left. Most were either packed, or given out though. She primarily had taken plants, seeds, and alchemical gear with her, along with some raw gold, to have a cash influx from the start, to get some necessities, and roof over their heads. Nothing that she believed the detective would find abhorrent, though he'd have to evaluate for himself later.

It were a fair bit less for Will-O. She hadn't much to begin with, and between Caramel letting her know that she shouldn't take old, ruined clothes or bed linen with her, some things being too big, etc. she had barely enough to fill one saddle bag. Most in her possession, were reminders. Including one from the mother she had never known, that made her feel conflicted to hold now, after learning of her heritage. Knowledge that she wish had never been imparted upon her, even if she understood why Caramel had brought it forth. It were safer for her this way. Safer for her home too, where she knew that some would stand on her side, and could end up being judged from it. This was the best way to keep everyone she cared about, out of danger. Her last act as a town guard.

Still, it were not easy for her, and she had several times just fallen unto the floor crying, wishing this were but a nightmare, from which she would wake up, or that the goddess would swoop in, and rob her of the memories, from what she knew. But there were no relief. No way back. At this point, it would have been officially announced that she had been banished. Soon enough, her home would be put to the torch, once they learned who *The grandfoal of Twisted* were. Her friends, the things she left behind... They would be allowed to remain. The queen would have made sure to let them know that the unnamed equine had not been aware of their heritage, and had already been properly scrutinized by the spy master himself. As well as saying that the banishment were voluntary, as they too wanted to close this chapter for the kingdom. A lie, but one that would sell sympathy better. The scattered voices trying to start uproar over letting her get away, would have been shut down after that, with biting words, from their queen. She were an intimidating presence, when she wished to be, and would make sure to get her points across.

Equestria sounded nice. Lily had told her things at this point. Not a lot, as she did not want to be anywhere near Le Pourri, for longer than she had to, but enough to tell her about it being a bright, warm place. A place she'd end up feeling welcome and safe.

*sigh* But it wasn't home, and they didn't do things the way she were used to. The culture were alien to their own, and things were so far ahead, that she would likely feel plucked out of time there. But that were her future now, right? There weren't much of a choice, except defying the banishment, but that would just lead the bloodshed, and she couldn't do that to those she cared about.

At least she had Caramel with her... Lily might not trust her, but Will-O knew there was more to that. Lily had known the actual Caramel. The chippy, warm baker of Oaksbrook, that wouldn't even know how to fight off a scarecrow, much less the horrors that sometimes assaulted their town. She were biased in her view of Caramel as she were now, after Le Pourri had taken over. Will-O... She could understand it, and the stories about Le Pourri were... Not encouraging, but as she were now, she had helped protect the village, in near a decade. This were her friend as it were, and crafty as she were, more than anything, Will-O needed that. Sure she'd have Chirpy too - Hopefully at least, as he had been patched up proper, so he could likely pass off as being alive if you didn't know better - but someone who could talk to her, were different. That she also were the only one of them with any real valuables, and a plan in mind already, were also helping certainly. She hoped Rising would vouch for them, but they still had to find a way to make it once there, and earn their keep.

She wasn't sure what she were going to do though. Her mind had been occupied with other thoughts, but eventually, she'd have to think of something. Maybe there were a need for a village protector of some sort, near where they'd go? It were hard to say for now.

Will-O would set down her bags, go towards one of the comfy chairs, and have a seat. They could ask her a few questions, but eventually, she'd snooze off, with a hoof around Chirpy, as if he were some sort of stuffed teddy bear, that she'd cling to for comfort.

(a fine place to put in responses to her, if it were)

After she eventually would, Caramel would look worried towards her for a brief moment.

"Do forgive her for that. Life have been rather tumultuous for her, since Rising were carried to our dour little village. Some rest would do her good.

While she gets a small rest, do tell how your day have been in details, if you would. We have been able to hear some of the festivities out there, so it is clear that things are moving along merrily. But were your trip grand? And what waits next?"

"There is but three things planned. The theater, dinner with Mother, and of course, the reveal of the statue of our newest hero."

"Splendid moments ahead then, and most more peaceful than what were before. The theater especially, is something you can look forward too. I've been there, through several lives, and they have mostly been enchanting to view. I can't say if the statues are the same. The last hero we had one for, were before my time, as were the removal of them from public view, but I recall being told it were delightful. I can imagine the stone matron would were pleased to be able to return them to their rightful places, and remove those ghastly ones that Twisted had put in place. They were quite the eye sore.

You haven't been assaulted yet now, have you? I can imagine the loyalists still out there, wouldn't be so brazen, but it is hard to know sometimes."

Caramel would put down her saddlebags carefully, and have a seat herself, so that she could overlook things, and enjoy the first, and likely last time, that she would be able to do this. Sure she hadn't been banished, but frankly, she looked forward to seeing new shores, and experience what Equestria had to offer.

"That is what I sing about, have always sang about, not individual heroes, not individual greatness, but the power of cooperation, the importance of community." "And even while on the quest for my own happiness, I'll never stop thinking of those I left behind, because above all else, I'm a kobold like them."

"Way to dodge the praise" Sear commented with amused tone, gently patting the smaller lizard's head "But she's right, you're just too stubborn to admit it."

"Us kitsune are maybe strong now, but we have many tales, of what we have been through to get here. From the times when we were just starting to develop higher sentience, to needing to fight for our space in Neighpon, and our on and off struggles with the equines of our homelands. Of Oni and spirits, tradition made and origins thereof- There is much to tell, of long lived races, and through tomes or song, it can be memorized, and it can be taught, to those willing to learn.

It is rare among us, to find those wanting to wander the path of the bard, rather than the historian, when it comes to spreading the tales, but I can admire those wanting to do either, all the same. No matter the race, or what tales they have to tell, there is often much to learn from hearing the words of others, with an open mind."

Kitsune had a millennia old history, but they had a long path to get where they were now. Originally little more than forest-dwelling mischief makers, barely acting on more than instinct, to now being the traditional beings of notability they were now, the path were fraught with many ups and downs between those points. Even now, there were things they needed to worry about, and struggle with, such as poachers trying to trap their young to sell off as exotic pets. Or worse yet, be killed for parts and fur, because some Neighponese equines believed their parts to have mystical powers, that could somehow help them.

Thankfully it were far from all that wanted that, and often their young were saved and returned, if they were trapped. Either by them going and get them themselves - which were times when they did not hold back, and acted with fury and menace - or by others getting them back. Like that mare, Scarcity. A lovely one really, that had saved a whole batch from an auction, and got them home safely, as well as severely punishing the ones trying to sell them. Hadn't even asked for anything in return either. Ponies like that, were good allies to have, and though far from all went as far as she did, most were still against their kind getting trapped, and would do something. Which sadly just made their parts rarer, and thus more expensive, making them a higher valued target by poachers... It were a vicious cycle, albeit it were not as bad as it once were. Thankfully. None of them liked to remember the fur farming days, even if it were an important part of their history.

Elder Rhugan didn't say anything more about the concept of fear. It seemed the siblings were well adjusted when it came to that, and didn't need her input on things. A healthy attitude one might even say, as fear were important, and you shouldn't try and deny it. Instead, you should overcome it, lest you became a victim of it.

"I'm sure you will find your place, and find brighter futures ahead. Perhaps what wisdom you have over others, could even come to some good use? I suppose only time will tell, though I do like your attitude about things."

How could one put it... Their attitude were nice and simple, were likely the best way to put it. Straight forward and thinking of the important things, without dawdling on things that were not important. That were something that she could respect.

She wasn't sure what were up with the family reunion part, but it sounded like a private matter that she shouldn't dig into. Often were, when it came to unpleasant family things. if they needed to vent, they would initiate that one themselves, though she had doubts they would.

"Saaaaa-uce. Sauce. Shark not try sauce. Is good with fishy? Will try."

She had the meaning of the word in her mind, implanted among many other things, as she had been changed by Anomaly. It were some sort of liquid, that you put on to your food, or dipped your food in. It sounded weird, but if Light said that she should try it, that must mean that it was good, yes? She would try it when he recommended it at least. She trusted him, and wouldn't think he'd give her something that were gonna kill her. Maybe it wouldn't taste good to her, but that were not the same. That was just him wanting her to try things, and her not being a fan of the thing tried. That was different!

As for the fish? She figured after this long day, she could go and catch a full trout from the river to eat. A big, juicy fishy like that, would do wonders. Just not right now. She wasn't that hungry, so later that would be. Though she could eat a smaller fishy if it were. Had to make sure not to eat too many though. There needed to be more than enough in the river, so she wouldn't run out of food. Sure there were things to eat in the forest too, but she liked fishies. It would be a shame if they were gone.

Rhugan enjoyed these talks, but she did need to move along soon, and so, would go to finish her tea. Hachi and Zhing would do the same, quiet as they still were, to let their elder speak with less interruptions. And soon enough, their plates and cups would be empty, barring a few drops and crumbs.

"Nice as this have been, I should be looking towards going home. There is much still to be done, and what goes for normality around here, is not helped by my presence."

"Already? We had hoped you would stay for a little."

"I would prefer it too. Get a chance to see this town more for myself, but I need to finish what we have started. But I will come by to check up on you another day, and give back your kimono, but until then, you make sure to learn, and make us proud. It is not just your mother that have put a lot of faith in you two."

Elder Rhugan and the kits would stand up, and facing one another, would bow to the respective side. Then Rhugan would turn and bow before the others, with a chuckle on her breath. Albeit the bow to them, were less than that given to the kits.

"What a fascinating group you are. Something tells me we will meet again some other day. That goes for all of you, otherworlders or not."

Shark would raise a hoof, and wave enthusiastically at Rhugan as she said that.

"Goodbye, fluffy one! Have fun at your reef."

Lest there were anything else, her staff would send a thick cloud of fog off, enveloping the elder, and when it were gone, Rhugan would too. There were now only two kitsune left in Ponyville, once again. Though if they had something to say, she would halt momentarily, to allow them to get it out. Though she did really need to be on her way soon, and leave these youngsters to their lives. They couldn't be humbled by her presence forever, of they wouldn't get out of it, what they had been sent here for in the first place.

@Catpone Cerberus

"I wish I had answers, but if there are any to find, something tells me you'll have to find them at home. I'd think it was just luck, but I wasn't there, in the situation. I don't know how close it got, and how bad things looked for you, as accurately as you did. So if you're sure there were more to it than that, I believe in you. But then, who, or what, would interfere then? If you didn't see anyone, it'd have to be something magical. Maybe a relative? Not your mother, obviously, but y'know, there's other parts of a family than just your mother.

Or perhaps, just maybe, there's something in you, that kept you alive. We don't know what sorta magic you might be carrying. For all we know, there's something there, that guides you, and keeps you alive, if you want it to or not.

*sigh* Whatever happened, I'm glad you did make it through, and are here."

Really, she were. Leviathan might seem like she'd do fine by her own to many creatures, but she did feel lonely and wanting for company at times. Good, draconic company, to be specific. Sure Ruby and Charir wasn't the ideal she had been hoping for for a long time, but honestly, she wouldn't trade them for the world. And if someone, or something, hadn't kept Ruby alive back in the day, then she would have missed out on it. The speaking lessons, the potential other magic, the horrible situations and weird adventures they had gone on- Y'know, all the fun parts. It was much nicer like this, where she had met them, and had a splendid time, with a couple of weird dragons, that she already considered close friends of hers, that she'd go mental over someone trying to hurt.

She would get closer to Ruby, and put her hand on the dragoness. Sure she didn't feel this sort, and didn't get the friendly bla bla bla. It was the principle of things, alright? She were trying to show some empathy here, and that she were there for her friend. The logic of these actions were not important.

"I honestly don't wanna imagine things, if I hadn't met you, Ruby. It just wouldn't be the same. And it's definitely a lot less lonely."

Once she were over her sappy spell, she'd eventually take a step back, and take a deep breath. It was time to actually focus a bit here, and get down to business, as one might put it.

"Okay, I doubt we'll get far thinking more on that. Not like there's any clues or anything to go by, yeah? So, let's focus on what we got, that's nice and tangible. Another treasure hunt, potentially with some curses and other bad stuff. A nice little adventure, with a payoff. The very best kind there is, heh."

As things seemed settled now, the Stone Matron would be quiet, yet she wouldn't leave. The others - that is, the ones not in the orb - were meant to leave first, as she had to make sure that no one tampered with things. SO once Rosa and Omen were out, she would follow, and then be on her way. She had other things to attend now, until the ritual would commence later.

Until that point though, Omen would have a response to things, and gazed into the orb, with her unblinking, pale stare.

"I will try and find the place first, and then go back to tell. But if I do go, I will leave, if things do not seem right. I think I can do that, yes."

Odds were that she wouldn't find the pyramid though, and rather just some places where it definitely weren't. It depended on how old that depiction they had found were, and what state the pyramid were in. It could be hidden in a mountain, under dirt, foliage, be crumbled, had been paved over, etc. Time and nature, tended to do well, in reclaiming things that had been left abandoned.

“All right.

With things concluded here, Omen would do as asked, and open a gate to get them back to the kitsune. Not where Lin had were exactly though. It were on the other side of the door. Probably for the best, to avoid startling the nurse honestly.

Omen would stay for now though, as she wanted to know if sister were okay, and thus, once the gate were closed - and a few kits had seemingly been startled, as they jolted down the hallway from seeing the newcomers - she would knock on the door. As she were given entry, she would then wander in, and see... Well, nothing spectacular, though it were a different kitsune that greeted them, than the nurse student from before. And Lin were spread out on a larger bed, with runes inscribed around it, and with several papers on her, that also had things inscribed. There were also incense burning on sticks at strategic placed on her bed, but beyond that? Nothing had really changed. The one overlooking her were even seen just leaned back, reading a magazine. Though it were in neighponese, so they probably couldn't read it.

As for the one in question, it were an older kitsune. Jet black, with grey tips on her hears, and wearing a pearl-white kimono, with leaf patterns on it. Clearly older and bigger than the one from earlier.

"Ah, you must be the ones my student warned me about. Here to check on your friend, I take it? Peculiar case this one. Mhm.

I'm Head Nurse Lao. Your friend here have been a curious case, so I took over. She should be fine now. Just waiting for her to wake up, for a mental evaluation. Physically she's fine."

If it took more than five minutes for her to wake up, Omen would be gone, out to see some of the places she remembered throughout time, and figure out if there were some chance that the pyramid they sought, were in any of those locations. If not, she would be there once Lin started to make movements, under her eyelids. She would not take Shrimp with her though, who'd go and nap on Sen's head. The incense made him sleepy.

"Ah, seems like there's some cognitive functions starting. Let's see then, how things develop from here."

Lao would lean forward in her seat, and observe Lin closely, as she got ready to act on whatever might, or might not happen. There seemed to be functions now, yes. But if she slipped back into unconsciousness, or woke up in a panicked attacker mode, she needed to be ready to deal with it, rather than just sitting back and waiting for things to blow over. Though for now, she'd just assume that the longma would wake up confused. They would take it from there, if that were.

Cover Up wouldn't address the first much, beyond a slow nod. Honestly, as dismissive as that response to his scars had been from Whett, there were a small bit of comfort, in knowing that it didn't seem like a lot to him. He had tried showing these before, and the responses had not been the sort he would prefer. The strange, black cat especially, had been more intrigued than anything, about them. Been a few days now, since he had seen Zinthar actually... In some ways, it made him relieved, as the thing were a little... Peculiar, to put it mildly. In other ways, he were worried what sort of trouble he might get into. Hopefully nothing major, and he were just busy with the bat pony for the time being.

As for Whett... Well, it started off nicely, and then deteriorated rapidly, to him making a rather... Poor choice of words. It were probably not meant the way that it were said, but it wasn't exactly a great sign. A being like Whett, a lot of the things he said and did, seemed to have the potential to either be taken poorly, or spin rapidly out of control.

"It's uhm... Not i-ideal, no. Probably better to just... Say that you'll go w-with the flow, sir."

It were likely also good for them, to just... Move on. Quickly that were. The less time they spent talking more about this, the better. Ponyville awaited, and hopefully nothing would be set on fire.... Please?

Whett would find that he'd get more looks for how he were looking, than the fact that he were loud. This place had their quirky sorts both working for, and visiting at times. So a fair bit of the locals that went here often, sorta learned to tune some background out. Wasn't everyyone thought, and yes, he would be given weird looks, as kirin wasn't usual around here. probably just a few that had ever been here, even briefly, so they weren't sure what to expect. They wouldn't address him though, so that were something at least. They'd leave that sort with Alonsus, who were not all that fuzzed about the odd way this one behaved. And in fact, he liked to see that the kirin sat on the bench. Showed that it had been fixed right, as it were as stable as anything when he sat upon it. So that was that test done.

His breath were mighty peculiar though. Reminded him of Blitz in a way... Maybe it were the sulfurous undertones? It could be so hard to tell sometimes. He had never been much of a bomb expert, even in his old life, where he did... Less than legal work. More of a brawns sort of presence, as it were.

now.

"Alonsus can tell, my peculiar friend. You shout as if you are traversing alongside a well trafficked road. But Ponyville is quite calm and quiet. You needn't worry about being drowned out."

"A-Actually I think it's just... A p-personality thing. He means well."

Least Cover hoped so, but he still wasn't sure The kirin were really making it hard for him to apply normal logic to things, as well as expectations.

"Perish the thought, if you think Alonsus believes your friend to be mean of spirit, my young colt.

Ah, but if you wish to enter and see the building as you said, then you should go on. Worry not for me, I have much work I can yet do, and Berry shall take ample care of you. Be it drinks of food, we at Sloppy Joe's will endeavor to be of service."

He'd be plenty happy enough to speak further if it were, but they could also just go in. The place were spacious, and scarcely populated right now, as it were work hours for a fair few, but about a fourth of the place were still in use by customers. Most drinking something. Coffee primarily, as that were their specialty. Just like the buns were at the bakery.

Behind the counter, humming to herself, and writing down some things on a long piece of paper, were a mare. The one they had to deal with, if they wanted to order anything.

If they looked at the paper, it seemed she were somehow making a connection between the redeemed changelings, regular changelings, and a picture of a large Hercules Beetle, sitting on somepony's hoof. It were a confusing mess to look at, for those who didn't know how to look at it. Crazy ponies, as some might say.
