What's you're total budget for this endeavor?

 

For a case, I got a Tesseract Deepcool(a bigish case that even comes with two exhaust fans) for $35 and it's pretty cool.

 

 

Nabbed Sleeping Dogs, looks like Green Man does keys as well because that's how they gave it to me(it did work, BTW)

$1200. I would like to go with an i5 4690k with two r9 290s running in crossfire, but by the time I start building it some new processor or GPU will come up. Cases, on the other hand, don't become "outdated" as quickly so might as well start looking now...

Do any of you guys like to do video editing? if so does it take up a giant amount of hard drive space?. i was thinking of getting a 2TB/2.5TB drive to add to my system in future. right now i got 1TB for games, 1TB For Art stuff and 250GB For OS and programs.

Raw footage does take up a wicked lotta space. I have a 2TB drive in my rig just for videos.

It depends on what software is being used to encode the video and how that encoder is configured.  However uncompressed video in particular of any kind takes up an obscenely large amount of space.

Thought Id post something about my upcoming PC build. Its not completely finalised since I need to do a little research, but It should give people a good idea of what PC I'll have in about 25 days time.

CPU: Intel S1150 Core i7 4790K 4.00Ghz Quad Core
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 980 4GB
RAM: DDR3 16GB (2x8G) G.Skill 1600Mhz
HDD: 1TB WD 3.5" 7200rpm SATA 6Gb/s
SSD: 120GB Samsung 2.5" 840 EVO Series SATA 6Gb/s SSD Drive
Monitor: 24" Benq GL2460HM LED Monitor

Thats all the important stuff at least.

The total cost of the entire build (including things not listed here) is $2704. I'll be forking that over towards the end of this month and should have everything set up by March 1st.

Some of you may notice I only got a 1TB HD. The reason for this is that Im mainly using this set up for gaming, and I don't leave all my games from steam installed. Only the ones I actively use. This saves on space quite a bit.

In addition to that, I have a TB external for my uni work, so I don't need to store that on my PC since I already have it both on my external HD and the PCs at Uni.

All in all, I wanted to fork over for the best PC I could build within my price range so that I wouldn't need to upgrade any time in the near future.

So Sager just launched this laptop with a full desktop i7 4790 CPU in a 1.4 inch body. Would this CPU really be able to run at its top clock speed of 4.0 ghz without overheating like crazy? It almost seems too good to be true. 

If it does manage it, however, the apparent user-upgradeability seems like a huge plus, assuming one can get a hold of a mobile GPU and assuming GPUs released two or so years down the road would be compatible with the current setup...
