Bought a new card. EVGA Gtx 970 SC 4GB. Can't wait to get it.

Awesome!  I love buying new GPUs.

Totally not the reason I upgraded from my 780 to dual 970s or anything...

Got my new Card in the mail. Promptly uninstalled AMD drivers and installed my new card, and drivers. Massive performance boost to my games.

I'd imagine there'd be a massive performance boost, you're going from a mid-ranged card to a high-end one.

And especially with games that take advantage of PhysX, like Metro.

I'm thinking that I'll go for a 980 later this year, mostly because I'm hitting the 2GB wall hard in more and more games. The extra GPU power is nice, but having another 2GB RAM on the card is nicer.

Alright, it's settled.  I'm getting this case when it's officially released.

Getting kinda bored of the old R4 anyway.

Do it! Phanteks cases are so good.

In my opinion, PC gaming is bad and way inferior to consoles. Also, PC gamers tend to think they're so cool and superior for their money on computer parts and a lot of them can be really annoying. That's just my personal opinion, though.

Care to elaborate why? We're interested to hear.

PC gaming is way too expensive and not worth it at all. A PS4 is cheaper and way better.

Okay, but you know you don't have to spend that much to get 1080p/60FPS now, right? As an example, here's a $350 PC running GTA V.

Really, the only reason why anyone should spend $1000 or more on a PC is if they want to get into higher-end gaming. High refresh rates, large-resolution textures, high resolution, things like that. For most people, a $500 - $650 system will do fine. And not worth it at all? How? I've been PC gaming since 2009 and since then have only gotten more into it. There's just so much to do and so much to see in the PC realm, and the fact that it's an open platform (as opposed to the closed, highly-controlled consoles) means that the possibilities are unlimited, really.

Also, if you're looking at prebuilts and thinking that PC gaming is "way too expensive" because of how insanely high-priced they are... stop looking at prebuilts. They're insanely overpriced for what performance you get out of them and add in flashy features that add nothing to your experience like customizable LED lighting on the case or complete form-over-function cases like the Alienware Area 51 case while simultaneously cheaping out on RAM, the motherboard, storage, graphics performance and expansion. You would not be getting a great deal for your money out of those PCs. And before you say "Oh but building a PC is too hard!", a five-year-old girl did it. It's really not that hard at all.

I've never heard anything more ill-informed in my life. PC gaming is great and if you're willing to put a little time and effort out, you'll see that PCs will always be better for performance and a great gaming experience. Maybe not the most accessible and it does lack exclusives and we tend to get really crappy ports, but it's still a great platform.

Also, PC gamers tend to think they're so cool and superior for their money on computer parts and a lot of them can be really annoying.

That's not only wrong, but it's also a very short-sighted way of thinking, it's the same thing as saying "All bronies are gay and clop to pony porn" There is a small minority of PC gamers that bash console gamers, they're loud and obnoxious, and we shun them for making us look bad.

So don't come into a discussion about PC gaming and shit-talk every PC gamer.

This is also wrong. You've obviously never gotten into PC gaming, so how would you know if it's not worth it?

Gonna stick with my R4 for a long time, at least until my next build. I have no problems with it and it's an absolutely great case. Also, am I the only one who doesn't like flashy cases?  Edited by Celli

I've never heard anything more ill-informed in my life.

Really? The least informed thing you've heard in your life pertained to video games? I've seen people who think the Earth is flat and don't believe in the moon.

I disagree. I don't think games are worth putting time and effort into setting up. It's not worth it at all.

I disagree, I think the term "PC master race" itself is pretty obnoxious. I get it's a joke, but it's a joke that exaggerates believed superiority and the overuse of it is annoying.

So don't come into a discussion about PC gaming and shit-talk every PC gamer.

I didn't shit-talk anyone. I just described how a lot of them act and said I don't think it's worth it.

This is also wrong. You've obviously never gotten into PC gaming, so how would you know if it's not worth it?

Because games aren't worth too much time and money, in my opinion. I don't even like most games that much at all.

I'm just expressing my opinion, not insulting anyone.

No unless you believe worse graphics are better and believe in Ubisoft's propaganda in which lower resolution and frame rate are simply numbers and not at all important.

Also, PC gamers tend to think they're so cool and superior for their money on computer parts and a lot of them can be really annoying. That's just my personal opinion, though.

Depends on who. Most PC gamers I find will poke fun at console gamers but ultimately don't actually care about what platform you play on.

PC gaming is way too expensive and not worth it at all. A PS4 is cheaper and way better.

https://youtu.be/LlEj3T77ovQ?t=16m51s

These people managed to make PCs more powerful than consoles for about same price as PS4 using used parts (linked conclusion of 300USD/300CAD PC challenge). Also remember that PCs are much more than just for gaming. Having been PC gamer for long time, console gaming feels too inferior for me to enjoy it.

Just read post you just posted and it's no surprise that you don't find appeal in investing much in gaming platform because you're a casual gamer; console gaming suits you but it doesn't suit many of the enthusiasts.

Edit: You save quite a bit of money on Steam sales and you don't have to pay for monthly/yearly fee to play games online which will save you money overtime.

I said that most PC gamers aren't like that. Also, nobody actually uses that term unless they're a stupid fanboy. I don't use it, because it's stupid and sounds arrogant.

Really? The least informed thing you've heard in your life pertained to video games? I've seen people who think the Earth is flat and don't believe in the moon.

I was making a rhetoric statement. I don't actually think that.

I didn't shit-talk anyone. I just described how a lot of them act and said I don't think it's worth it.

Well, this is not the place for saying why you dislike PC gaming, it's for discussing parts, games, and showing off builds. You may as well be posting in the Rarity Fan Club how much you hate her. And again, it's a small minority. Most PC gamers are laid back and don't care what everyone else plays. Get that out of your head.

Exactly, so there's no reason to come here and insult PC gaming.

It isn't that important. The most important thing is a game being fun, who cares how high quality the graphics are? And consoles support 60fps and all that, it's just some crappy games that don't.

And the most important thing is that it's much more worth it. I'm not wasting thousands of dollars and months of my time building some PC just so I can have 3 extra pixels and one more frame.

But PC games suck, because you can't sit back at a couch by a TV screen. So consoles will always be better, because playing on a TV will always be better, in my opinion. Plus, PS4 has exclusive games.

I said that most PC gamers aren't like that. Also, nobody actually uses that term unless they're a stupid fanboy. I don't use it, because it's stupid and sounds arrogant.

Well, it's the title of the thread, so I think I'm justified in responding to how annoying of a term it is. :P

A Rarity Fan Club is different, because as the title says, it's a club for fans. This isn't called PC Games Club. I think a general PC discussion is fine to express my opinions in.

I wouldn't care about that, actually. I'm not a Sony fanboy or anything. If you have legitimate arguments for why the PS4 sucks, I might even agree with you. It doesn't have backwards capability, which I think sucks and it's completely fine to mention that in a PS4 thread.

Well, it's not, so why don't you stop insulting it and get on with your day?

The title doesn't mean jack. It's a place for discussiing PC gaming, not insulting it. There are other places for that, i.e. Youtube, reddit, 4chan.

It really isn't different. This thread is for PC fans, despite what the title says. Not for anti-PC gamers.

And the most important thing is that it's much more worth it. I'm not wasting thousands of dollars and months of my time building some PC just so I can have 3 extra pixels and one more frame.

It's waaaaay more than three extra pixels and frame. Most console games are capped at 720p and 30fps. Whoever told you that the difference is nominal has no idea what they're talking about.

I didn't insult anyone. Reread my first post, I just said some people are like I described, not all.

But isn't it also a discussion thread? Giving different opinions should be fine, in my opinion.

I don't care if it's 720p or 480p or any of that. Games aren't about that type of thing, it doesn't make a difference at all to me, personally. As for 30fps? Every game I've ever played in my life has been in 60fps, I think. Even on the NES the games run at 60fps and I play that all the time.

No, it's for discussing different things about PC gaming. Not saying why you dislike it.

Not anyone, you said PC gaming is bad. Also, you said a lot of PC gamers, not some.

Graphics don't matter until it gets to the point where it interferes with gameplay experience/immersion.

And the most important thing is that it's much more worth it. I'm not wasting thousands of dollars and months of my time building some PC just so I can have 3 extra pixels and one more frame.

Again it's completely possible building fairly powerful PC for price comparable to that of console as shown in video I posted. And those people managed to put together fairly impressive PCs with only 300USD/300CAD within timespan of 8 hours. If you purchase such budget PC, you will save money compared to what you would have otherwise spent on consoles because you don't have to pay monthly/yearly fee to play online and you will be able to take advantage of Steam sales in which most games will have 75% discounts.

Depending on your system you will not simply gain 1 more frame and 3 extra pixels, but perhaps more than double framerate than that of consoles at actual 1080p resolution.

But PC games suck, because you can't sit back at a couch by a TV screen. So consoles will always be better, because playing on a TV will always be better, in my opinion. Plus, PS4 has exclusive games.

Subjective and is completely possible to make PC suitable for couch gaming. The beauty of PC gaming is that it's very customizable. And PC also has exclusive games.

Again, considering that you're casual gamer, it's not surprising that you don't have as high a standard in your gaming experience; not intended as insult but more that everyone has different expectations.

I said that most PC gamers aren't like that. Also, nobody actually uses that term unless they're a stupid fanboy. I don't use it, because it's stupid and sounds arrogant.

Heh. I say that from time to time but in seriousness I don't care if one plays on console and I think same is true for most PC gamers. Also, if you ever were to decide to buy PC for gaming (or any other demanding tasks), I found that PC gaming community is perhaps among the most willing to help you build best system according to your budget and intended usage.

Meh, I think it's dumb, and kind of pointless. To each his own, I guess.
