Bundlestars has a interesting $5 bundle with some interesting looking indie horror titles and a couple AAA games(personally, I want ahead and snagged it)

After trying emulating Windows Xp and 7 for old games I have decided to re-join the master race by using dual boot to partition off my Imac 3TB hard drive giving Windows 8.1 1.5TB and OSX 1.5TB. More than enough.

My 27" Imac specs are 3.5Ghz CPU (can be overclocked to 3.9Ghz), 4GB GTX 780M, 32GB Ram. Time to crank everything up to Ultra in 2560 x 1440p. What games would you recommend now that I can enjoy them in full glory?  I still have my PS3 and PSVita for gaming also, I'm not a complete Pc Master Racer.

Is it possible to place my hard drive from my old computer and put it into my new one as a boot drive? I see things online were Microsoft's anti-piracy software prevents Windows 8 from doing so, unless the computers are similar. However, what similarities must the two machines share?

They are both AMD chipsets yet very contrast in terms of performance.

 That's Intel Turbo Boost.

It'll require re-activating Windows, since it's tied to your motherboard. Yeah, I don't get it either.

How would I do that? Would I have to make a call to Microsoft or just register it online again?

If it's a OEM machine you'll have to buy(or otherwise aquire) a whole new copy(I know, I did a drive swap when I built this and had to deal with that bullshit).

Fair warning, a copy of Windows 8.1(the only version you can get in the store) costs $130.

Brace your wallets, for the Steam Winter Sale is rumored to start on December 18th.

I'm still working on a getting a Job(damn voc-rehab) so I'll have to wait for the either the Spring or Summer sales before doing any major buying.

Hopefully someone can help me with this: more recently I find that my PC is no longer able to run high-end games as well as it used to (or at least specific games?). I used to be able to run BF4 on near max settings, but now at the same settings I'm experiencing stuttering issues (I've been told the game is actually very well optimized for PC now).

I'm unsure what is causing this. Some notable changes from then and now with my PC is the fact that my C: Drive (SSD) is nearly full (ranges from ~4-1GB remaining) with about 19GB being reserved for RAM backup, and the HDD in which my games are stored has gone from nearly empty to more than half full. How I use the PC, I typically always have Chrome open which ends up using about half of the memory I have (8GB total RAM) but I've done this before. Have started using two monitors at a certain point but games are still run on only one monitor; unsure whether this would significantly affect game performance but from memory I was sure that BF4 still ran fine.

What is your video card as it can be that the two monitors are hogging up it's resources. I'd recommend fully disconnecting that 2nd monitor from the video card if I were you. Edited by Nuke87654

Windows 8.1 doesn't have that.

Huh, really? I thought that was one of the better features they introduced with Vista/7. Leave it to Microsoft to omit the cool things for touchscreen functionality.

It was introduced in Windows Vista, capped at 5.9, then Windows 7 brought it up to 7.9, then Windows 8 took it up to 9.9 and Windows 8.1 removed it. Probably because it's a pretty useless metric.

It goes by the lowest sub-score and having a mechanical HDD makes the storage score nosedive, making the overall number pretty useless.

For the most part, yeah I agree. It was pretty useless. That said, it had the potential to be a useful tool for measuring overall PC performance. A comprehensive, built-in OS benchmark would be pretty great.
