Fairy or Genie? Which would you rather have?

Pretty self explanatory really. If both existed which would rather stumble upon? In the case of genies you'd have the option for unlimited wishes, because then you could have both for a long whiles as opposed to having a genie for three wishes and then they're gone.

I'm sure my choice is obvious.

Making a wish with a genie requires using specific wording.

And lawyers.

Though really it depends which sort of genie you'd get. One with rules or one rule free. With rules genies tend to be nicer, and rarely trick others or mess up your wishes. It's the rule free ones you wanna be careful with. Those are the tricky ones.

If ya think you can't be specific with your wording you'd better hope your genie is from somewhere where they have a set of rules. Or else you're f-----d. As for fairies, well the rules they have would get frustrating at times. You'd have to practically memorize the rules they've got and would have to make sure you follow them with certain sorts of wishes, and you can't always expect the wish to turn out right. And loopholes in rules would be tricky to to find. I'd say a genie not just for a certain one is a bit better, even if some of them are tricky. You don't have to remember any rules for the trickster ones and if you keep them around long enough they could warm up to you. So would fairies but a genie could easily help you out with problems and such they can't. Plus you could hang out in a genies bottle.

Genie of course! I've even thought up the three things I would ask for:

1. A castle to live in, with a big swimming pool in my backyard. That too in the middle of the countryside.

2. The power to live to eternity (me and all the people I love)

3. No wars in the entire world in future.

Fairies are good for dreams, that's it.

Depends on the fairy. Right now I'm just thinking about Fairly OddParents though, so I'll go with the fairy. Chances are, the type of things I'd wish for wouldn't be against the rules anyway. Unless a cheese omelette is breaking them, of course. ;P

Wait, which one exactly gives three wishes, and which one gives unlimited wishes?  You only mentioned genies in your OP, I think you might have meant to put fairy in there somewhere.

I said you could have either and as a bonus unlimited wishes is an option for genies as opposed to the standard 3.

So both the fairy and the genie can give you unlimited wishes?

Okay then, I'd go with the fairy. They tend to be beautiful women.

Damn, man, you know your stuff.  This reminds me of the genie episode of the X-Files where Mulder spent the whole episode writing up this super long, carefully worded wish document.  He thought he was gonna be all slick and cover every possible loophole.  In the end, I believe he realized it was futile, that he could never win, so, if I remember correctly, he pulled the ol' Aladdin "I wish for your freedom" trick.

Oh yes, and let's not forget about ye olde monkey's paws.  If you ever find one of those, run away.  They always backfire.  That's what they do.

So, I'm not really sure here--is there any advantage to a fairy?  I mean, in terms of specific lore, can fairies grant wishes, or are they just companions and that's it?  Can they give me some dust that would enable me to fly?  Would a fairy just buzz around my head and say, "HEY, LISTEN!" over and over again?  If I chose a fairy, could she be Julia Roberts?  If I chose a genie, could I wish for a fairy?

i would rather have a fairy then a genie because fairies are adorable and genies tend to work their way around wishes to pretty much put you in trouble no i would not like to go to jail just because i just got a ton of money from out of the blue, everything comes with a price

Genie.

Two reasons: 1) If he's anything like The Genie from Aladdin then that would be a hell of a good time.

2) Going off Fairly Odd Parents logic, Fairies, while capable of casting infinite wishes, are age-specific and have a literal dictionary of rules and regulations on what you can and can't wish for (yet there's apparently no rules against wishing for something that could potentially end the world) Genies on the other hand usually have only three; can't kill anybody, can't bring someone back from the dead and can't wish for more wishes (the "can't force someone to fall in love" differs from genie to genie apparently)

Yeah. It seems like every fictional universe that has genies seems to change if they have rules, what they are or if they don't have any rules at all. Though even the rule ones don't have too many rules. Though those also don't tend to have the you can keep wishing for three more wishes rule. :/

But I suppose in the circumstances of this thread they would.

Do you really have to bring that up. No. No you don't. The point is to answer the question. Not to ruin the fun.

Well, 'excuse' me that I didn't answer the question. And this seriously ruined the fun for you? Me making a comment that was intended to be funny, and not to ruin your question?

But I would take the genie too. Unlimited wishes! Who can resist that?

I'm surprised mostly everyone has said genie . I've always has a bad connotation with genies since they've tricked a lot of people when I see them on TV. A geico commercial starred a genie; the guy wanted a million bucks, so he got what he asked for! (But not what he wanted)

Clearly it's because genies are the far surperior magical wish granting creature. >;3
