A "wait for approval from moderator" button

Hello there. I need to think of a new way to start off my threads.

Anywho

I had an idea. Sometimes, I don't know if what I'm posting is against the rules or not (or not against the rules but frowned upon), and on those occasions, I will ask Jeric-chan, SCS-senpai, Aquila, or someone else for approval. However, I think it'd be quite useful if there were a "wait for approval from moderator" button when posting a thread/comment. That way, if someone does something against the rules, it will not be approved, and hopefully they will not receive a warning. I'd asked about something similar a while back, but I was wondering if someone could volunteer for mod queue, not something like this. Anywho, I think it would be useful.  Thanks for reading ^_^

I can't post pictures, so: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9uihr0w71vc627f/Approvalfrommoderator.PNG?dl=0

Edit: Wow. I'm surprised how many people have brohoofed(hooved?) this o_o

Edit 2: Yep, keep them brohoofs coming. I know, I know, I'm pretty awesome. :3

Even though I would never use this feature because I know if what I want to post is against the rules or not,  I can understand why some people would want a feature like this.

So, yeah, this does sound like a good idea.

Makusu, what you proposed is a great idea, and we have/are discussing options and looking into it. No guarantees on implementation or a timeline since there are dev tasks that are listed on deck which have a higher priority, but we absolutely think your concept is solid.

I think it is a really good idea, there were few times when I did not post something because I was unsure if it would not go against the rules. I think same option for statuses and blogs would be nice as well :)

I support this idea. I feel that part of the reason why a lot of bans happen is by the person not knowing the line on what's OK to post and what's not okay to post, making the ban not their fault. This idea would certainly lower the bans and suspensions. I'm pretty sure other sites do have this and go fine.

Which may also lower the suspicion and mistrust of the moderation staff here as well as the amount of general drama when bans do in fact occur.

Necro-ing this thread so I can ask if this is this going to be a thing some day. It got a good amount of support, I reckon. I personally think it's a great idea, especially since I ask for a lot of mod approvals for my posts. It'd save a lot of time for both members and staff alike and make the flow of the community much simpler. I didn't look to see if there was a thingy for it on the IPB forums and I don't know if it is something that would have to be built from scratch or not, but I personally think this to be a worthwhile investment for the entirety of the site, even if it had to be built from the ground up :derp:

I still think is a really good idea!! Especially if a member is unsure if something is breaking the rules and may be too shy to ask a moderator personally.  :rarity:

Ladies and gentlemen, we now enter the 'Practical Great Ideas - Held back from lack of techy guys to implement off-hand suggestions!' hour.

Whoopsie~ Cynicord is at it again~ :umad:

Historically, it was always difficult to have tech guys do freelance work on implementing minor feature suggestions, because all the tech power that the staff could find ended up being forced to split between the larger issues (site maintenance and on-going Poniverse projects). If there's more tech guys now than there always had been, someone please be sure to enlighten me~ owo

If not, that'd be a prime reason why this topic is still sitting here. All the members, moderators and customer service-oriented admins on the site can love an idea to pieces, but if there's still a lack of tech guys who have the time and ability to implement suggestions, everything halts.

Sounds like an interesting enough idea by itself. If such a button could link into the Report system, that'd cut down on the 'contact the staff through support tickets if you're unsure of a post' thing, and at the same time streamline the entire process so people would put iffy stuff into prior-approval more often.

I'm on mobile at the moment, but this is from a conversation I had with Jeric a while back about the implementation of private browsing:

More technical people on staff seems to be the case  :D

Then I guess someone needs to throw a rock at their window, to get a response in here. x3

No need to do that. The devs have already implemented that feature. Throwing a rock would be rather rude after what they've done for us! x)

To make use of this feature, enter the advanced editing mode (aka, "More Reply Options") and look at the Post Options bar on the right. Then, simply check the "Wait for Approval" box and post as usual.

So, with all that said, let's give our devs a round of applause! It's our hope that this option will allow users to participate with confidence, and to get moderator feedback before their posts are published for the world to see. Now people have even less of an excuse to post recklessly. Be sure to let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy posting!

It was implemented last night or so, but it should hopefully become more common knowledge once we push out our next announcement. So yes, quite impeccable timing! x)

Definitely the better option between the two x) Well, glad to see there's more techies around to do suggestions in a timely manner, nowadays.

The irony of this topic and what you quoted is almost too much. Not sure how to feel. Sunny can be my random emote.  :sunny:

I hope this is something that can be brought back in the future too @Steve Piranha

Nah, it's just that I post images in the fanclubs quite frequently, but some I like to post are saucy. You know, bikinis, sexy horses and girls and stuff. But there's a chance some of those may cross the line of what's acceptable or not around here, and I'm overly cautious about that

Whenever that subject ( (fanclubs && improper images) || approving posts by mods ) is mentioned - you're appearing, @Steve Piranha. :P:D

I can understand you there very well. :D

No offense of course - That would be absolutely not what I meant. ^_^:)

I know that sometimes I post things where I lose my sanity there in the process so I might post inappropriate and rude stuff. So to have this feature would be nice while the mods letting me know upfront what rule did I violate on which forum to make sure I keep track.

Still can't find that wait for mod approval feature when posting anything. I'm searching all over it.

Its not implemented yet, but it is planned and will come in the near future. Until then you can kindly ask moderators if they will review your post if you have doubts about it.
