music Most underrated/unheard of music genres?

What are some genres of music you like that no one has really heard of?

I listen to a type of electronic music genre called Future.

Ladies and gentlemen, what you're about to hear will probably change your perception on EDM as a whole forever.

Sounds good, does it?

Try DemoScene or my personal favorite ChipTunes

Btw that is my channel, give me a sub if you want and if you like the music I post. I know PaleDeth (The artist in the demoscene link) personally. Really nice guy. And the J. Arthur Keenes Band I just post his music trying to get it more popular.

Be fun to see where this topic will go:

I don’t know any unheard of music genres my self though and most of what I like is perhaps a little under appreciated compared to some other genres but it’s not super duper booper un-loved either.

I've recently found myself getting in to Synthpop, which is a genre I never thought I would like, at least going by the name. I really like the bands The Naked and Famous and CHVRCHΞS.

Seconding ChipTunes. My boyfriend got me interested in them and now it's all I listen to. It's hard to find good ChipTunes, though. It's not very popular.

French House needs much more love. The basis of French House is to sample old 70s/80s disco songs and make them into groovy, house tracks.

I grew up on chiptune, so if you're old seasoned you've definitely heard of them. xD

It's not an obscure genre of music, but Baroque don't get enough luv.  Johann Sebastian Bach is my fave composer, and odds are you've heard a piece or two of his.  Going back to chiptune: The NES game Gyruss actually remixed part of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor (BWV 565).  Which is likely where I first heard the melody as a kid.

Here's some Bach, back to back:

You might also want to give Vivaldi a listen; particularly his Four Seasons Concertos.

But mainly Bach!  Mostly Bach! xDD

*Nobody is going to listen to me.*

I noticed somebodies mentioned the word "chiptune," so I came to help. (I am the chiptune guy, after all, if you don't already know.)

For those of you wanting to listen to nice, clean chiptunes, there's quite a few ways to download the original files and listen to them from your computer (and in most cases, these files are way smaller than MP3 or WAV recordings.)

Look up a couple of programs like foobar2000 (you'll have to also download plugins from the site too, like foo_gep, foo_sid, and foo_input_usf to name a few, just look for the "Components" tab) NSFPlay Synthesia, and SPC700 Player, to name a couple.

Then, there's places like Exotica, Zophar's Domain (beware: occasional popups,) http://project2612.org (for Genesis/Mega Drive,) SMSPower! (for Master System & Game Gear) and World of Spectrum (for ZX Spectrum & Amstrad CPC) to find the actual music. Yes, this includes game soundtracks, too. Not every single one in the world has been ripped and documented, no, but quite a lot have (unless you're looking for, say, Virtual Boy music. Nobody's gone into that frontier yet, sadly.)

And if you ever want to start making some of your own, just mention me in a post or something, I'd be more than happy to be able to help peop-- err, ponies into the chip world.
