Would romances ever fly with the fans?

I wouldn't mind watching them fall in love, maybe even get married later on, as long as twilight marries somepony other than flash! he is such a cardboard cut out plain steriotypical charactor that it litterally hurts! twilight deserves better LOL, as long as getting married does not hurt their adventures

The show would better with no pairing at all. In my opinion, romance doesn't work well in MLP:FiM...

I tend to think likewise. On the other hand it really could work IF it is developed over some time and not a central theme but truth be told... I think it is pretty unlikely to happen. To introduce something like this means opening a can of worms.

No way, there are far too may ships for it to fly.

EG Dash X Soarin becomes Canon

Congrats you've pissed off the Dash X Derpy crowd the Dash X AJ crowd the Dash X Fluttershy crowd and the ridiculous amount of other ships for Dash alone. Judging by how majority of the fan base reacted when Flash and Twi were being cutesy, any canon relationships will cause chaos.

Simple solution, everypony in equestria marries eachother!!!!

Well, they did tease us with Twilicorn and Flash Sentry in the movies, however, we have to remember this show is marketed at 6 year girls, not us adults who need to grow up. Hmmm, now a backstory on Celestia and Luna would be a great episode. Heck, even to find out how they got their cutie marks.

Well the guys who confirm the storyline in the comics are also responsible for storyline in FiM so they may also introduce us to Somblestia at one point. Mike Vogel, the ex-Hasbro president of development of MLP  is even becoming a writer for S6 and he know about every comic detail he approved.

Yes and no,

Some would be upset because their shipping is getting wrecked, but the on the other hand romance could open an entire new dynamic to beloved characters as well.

s, it was a pretty bad reception with the whole Flash and Twilight thing in EQG and people were pissed

Actually the reception was better than expected which is why Flash is getting his own doll for Friendship Games, and seemingly a larger role in the next film.

Mmmmm depends. If they try to make romance with a main character it probably won't go well, but if it's just a side character like for example Luna it might fly

I don't know but I think the spike X Rarity thing is good but Twilight X flash wasn't good because it was to................. 'high schooliy' but I think other than spiketiy, I think that any other mane 6 romance would break peoples head cannons....

Main cast, never in a million years (see Brad, see also waifu-stealing)...BPs, yes, as they've already done so without visible fandom backlash. (see Hearts and Hooves Day, see also A Canterlot Wedding)

I don't think it'll ever be a good idea to make certain romances canon with regards to the main show, at least where the Mane Six, villains (namely Discord), the Princesses, etc. are concerned. Other minor characters, I can't see there being as many, if any, problems with.

Not that I think Hasbro ever really would include romance with the main cast in-show (FlashLight doesn't count, because screw Brad and also EQG != canon) considering most of the potential options, due to the gender ratio, are lesbian, and any stallions are either bit-part BPs or "picker-is-broken" choices like Blueblood, Sombra, or Flim/Flam.

I suppose Sparity miight an exception to the rule, though I don't know how much farther they'll go with that plot thread. They can sort of get away with it because it's basically a childhood crush that probably won't go much of anywhere in-show.

Also because putting in relationships would probably send the show into a swift downward spiral, as it'd be falling into the same "girl's show" tropes and stereotypes that Faust specifically designed the reboot show to avoid.

We don't need FiM relapsing into the Lovecraftian horror of TALES. "Tidings of madness and woe," indeed...
