TubeSock2018 325 February 8, 2015 Share February 8, 2015 My mom drinks coffee daily. Once in the morning and again at night. Onr night she missed her nightly cup and when she woke up she had a massive headache. Insane. Like, she was crying from the pain. Then she starts throwing up. I'm freaking out, about to call the hospital or something and she's like "no, don't. I think it's because I didn't drink coffee". After throwing up, she seemed better. She didn't have any other complaints for the rest of the day and life resumed. She hasn't missed her daily coffee and hasn't had any problems like those again. I'm pretty sure her case was unique, or at least I think so, cuz I've never heard of someone throwing up over lack of coffee. But she's convinced that was it and she ate the same food as the rest of us, didn't drink, and didn't show any more signs of bring ill after throwing up. SilverStarApple 850 February 8, 2015 Share February 8, 2015 The only adverse effects I've experienced from coffee drinking were temporary and had more to do with my foolish desire to make the strongest pot of coffee I possibly could lol; I've since elected to brew more reasonably. Ok, you tried to make the strongest pot of coffee you could. What happened? Did you die of a heart attack? Did your internal organs give out? Did you throw up? Or did you just make a large pot of a foul-tasting substance that tastes even worse than it should? I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was akin to a slow death. EnderPrince 49 February 8, 2015 Share February 8, 2015 Drinking coffee daily is not a bad habit, as long as it's in moderation. 1 or 2 cups a day? Fine. Perfectly normal. 4 or more a day? You've got a problem. If you do have a problem, don't blame it on the coffee. Blame it on yourself, and then blame it on the caffene in the coffee, because that's what you're addicted to. And no, you can'r just reduce the caffene amount in coffee. There is no limit on caffene in coffee because it's a natural drink, so if you want to blame the drink for it's caffene, blame Monster or something. Radiance64 7,057 February 8, 2015 Share February 8, 2015 There's a million things that different people do every day that can be unhealthy. That aside, I don't drink coffee every day personally, but it's good stuff so it's understandable why people do. It does have its benefits along with any risks it might have though, I suppose.

Did your internal organs give out? Did you throw up? Or did you just make a large pot of a foul-tasting substance that tastes even worse than it should? I died of a heart attack, obviously. I am a real ghost!!1! But it tasted delicious; I love strong coffee. Neither flavor nor heart failure was the issue. It just got to where I was consistently experiencing some degree of heart burn and occasionally regurgitating a small amount of fluid. When I scaled back the strength of the coffee (or stopped imbibing for a day or two) the problems abated. 1 "It uses the faculty of what you call imagination. But that does not mean making things up. Jeric 46,880 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I drink the nectar of the gods constantly from sunup to sundown (or longer). I have since I was a teen. I am a bit older than most of the members on this forum, yet my last physical was stellar. Is this an indicator that coffee and caffeine are completely safe? No. But for me it is (at least thus far). Each individual processes and metabolizes nutrients at different rates. My catabolic reaction is extraordinarily fast, so the effects of caffeine tend to wear off (is processed) fairly quickly. That isn't why I drink it throughout the day though. I love the taste and aroma. Compared to the effects of other items (poor general diet, smoking, excessive drinking) coffee consumption is a acceptable risk. I removed items not related to coffee in here, since the items were off-topic
Ashen Pathfinder 16,164 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I guess it really depends on individual use, and how one reacts to it. It's hard for me to really drink coffee as it just tastes bitter. I really don't know how people get around that... IJoinedForPonies 126 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 Coffee is very addicting, and you do get withdrawals if you drink a cup a day or more. This is due to coffee containing a high concentrated amount of caffeine. People who drink soda also have the same problem, they cannot function properly without it sometimes or at all. I made an OC! I'm always looking for feedback on her, please have a look and tell me what you think! ^^ http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/essence-r7367

It's hard for me to really drink coffee as it just tastes bitter. I really don't know how people get around that... Some tastes people appreciate from birth — for example, sweetness, saltiness, and umami. Others — such as bitterness and heat — one acquires an appreciation for through exposure. Most people probably don't like beer, wine, olives, capers, and very spicy food the first time they try them. Pastel 7,630 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I don't drink coffee but I don't think it's bad to drink some everyday... unless you drink several cups during the same day.
yeet 2,027 February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 (if i make shitty posts the ipad is partly to blame) coffee probaly isn't healthy to drink too much. but then nothing is. If you drink too much water in a day it can kill you. so yeah. But coffee is nice. And it's warm.
SCS 7,537 March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Yes, drinking coffee daily is a bad habit. Caffeine is a drug like any other drug, it just happens to be socially acceptable. That doesn't make it safe. Sure, it's probably not as dangerous as H, molly or other hard drugs, but it's still harmful. That being said, I imbibe a ton of caffeine on a regular basis, so I'm not judging anyone here. It's harmful, but I honestly don't care. I am strongly considering cutting things like soda and coffee out of my diet though to get into better physical condition. Celtore 2,770 March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Drinking coffee is one habit I didn't pick up because I noticed it's become a dependancy of a lot of adults I know. That being said, I feel that moderation is key and drinking one cup of coffee is going to make you an instant addict. If you can't function without getting your morning cup of coffee, it might be in your best interest to cut back a little... Besides, we all know that tea is the TRUE gentleman's drink of choice! Starflower 323 March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 (edited) I picked up my habit when I was in high school, because I was really struggling with sleep at the time, and caffeine actually helped me stay through the day, and sleep at a certain time at night. It doesn't have much of an effect other than keeping me awake unlike others have mentioned. As an adult now, I drink about 2-3 cups A DAY, dark roasted, and 10 ounces. I've also become a fan of Starbucks too. To be quite honest, it's not really a bad habit unless you actually abuse it. If you drink on average 4+ cups of coffee or 400mg of caffeine or more, it is actually considered a drug, and you CAN get overdosed by it. I had a friend that's been there before. He vowed to not take any caffeine again and decided to stick with natural energy. Edited March 21, 2015 by Starflower
GrauWitz 1,010 March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Nope, I don't it's a bad habit. I have a cup of coffee every morning with my breakfast to give me a much needed boost. I've been doing that for almost three years and I haven't experienced ANY negative effects
Phoenix Flair 332 March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Yes. I know several people who cannot wake up without a cup or two of coffee. To be physically dependent on anything is a very bad thing.
