Oh we are so close. The record of the old guard is about to be broken, and this generation of wrestlers will finally make it's place in history. When fans want to look to the longest record, they won't look to a quarter century ago.

 

They will look to the here and now.  To the present. To a group of young, modern talent who are breaking WWE free from the constraints of it's past. 

 

It could've been The New Day, GallAnderson, The Golden Truth, Blake & Murphy, I don't care. This generation has now made history for the right reasons. And now it makes me wonder what more this current crop of guys is capable of.

I know it's on the 4th, it has been a tradition since the 80s. But my Bro dosen't have the time till then, so we avoid Spoilers for 2 days and then watch it on the 6th.

 

being better then WK10 will be of course tough, but this Card has alot of things going for it.

You know, i spend the last few days really delving into the history of the Tiger Mask Character, which goes all the way back to the 60s. In that time, we had 4 people wrestling as Tiger Mask, with Kota Ibushi kinda being the 5th one playing it now, eventhough he is called Tiger Mask W.

 

But then i realized something. Tiger Mask once was the WWF Junior Heavyweight Champion and defended the title in Madison Square Garden in the early 80s.

 

My question now is, would that qualify Tiger Mask, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame? I would actually love it, because the character belongs there. He is the most recognized name in Japanese wrestling (besides Jushin Liger) and has kind of become a japanese cultural icon.

That is certainly a good point. Bockwinkel was certainly one of the greats (eventhough i was never that big of a fan of the AWA) but what is his reason to be in there?

 

When it comes to Ibushi, i think i would've done the same. Tiger Mask is respected by everyone in Japan. Being asked to become Tiger Mask is a great honor in my opinion.

Ultimo was magnificent, be it in Japan or WCW. He even went to Starcade 96 with the J-Crown, which where 8 junior heavyweight titles from 8 differents promotions, mostly japanese and he wore them all and even won the WCW crusierweight title that night against Dean Malenko.

 

 

I was incredibly dissapointed that his short WWE run was pretty much wasted. His only shining moment, was that he tripped, during his Wrestlemania 20 entrance.

I will say this. I think the whole thing with the hardys and the little movies that they make, is not really for me.

 

I have a very old school perspective when it comes to wrestling and wrestling for me, is supposed to be infront of an audience and not filmed in a compound like a B-Movie.
