Raw and SmackDown both have a specific color associated with them so, why did they decide to go with a "party-ish" looking logo for NXT?

I'm guessing it's for the 'blank canvases' that'll be taken in and turned into works of art on the main roster.

Makes me wonder what Vince is gonna have Shawn and Trips do? Will they be delegated to 205? Will Evolve be the new NXT? How is this gonna effect NXT UK, ICW, Progress and wXw?

Ooh! That's a good interpretation. :awed:

Triple H will be relegated to "hype man" before Takeover's officially begin. He'll officially be the "We are NXT!" guy.

Shawn Michaels will...Supervise?

Like one fan started chanting at Takeover: We were NXT.

On a more somber note, read into what happened with Daffney. Sounds like she had been suffering with mental health problems for a while. Put out a distressing video on Wednesday before she couldn't take any more. Sounded like she knew something was wrong. She wanted her brain sent to be reached in Boston. Same place they've been doing concussion research. It's sad. We've been getting safer in wrestling. But those who wrestled the more dangerous style won't be getting any better.

Daffney was only 46 years old. The first female cruiserweight champion in WCW. Heck, in American wrestling history. Her work with David Flair and Crowbar was one of the few high points of WCW in its final year. And even though she deserved better during her TNA run, we all have to admit she had one he'll of a Sarah Palin impression. She was a stand out in women's wrestling at a time when women in wrestling were still searching for their purpose.

Had a chance to meet her back in 2019. Wish I took it. She was the first female wrestler I thought of as cool. But at I supported her a little bit. By a bit of luck, I managed to find this:

Rest in Power, Daffney. May your legacy live on.

This is how I remember Daffney. I didn't get to see her TNA run but I have seen photographs over the years.

I was reading Twitter condolences and it's amazing how many wrestlers she inspired over the years.

I know All Out is going down in a few hours, but we have breaking news from the other side of the forbidden door!

New Japan has announced the brackets for the G1 Climax starting on the 18th. Three weeks of some of the best wrestling you'll ever watch!

Tournament blocks are:

Spoiler

Block A

* Kota Ibushi
* Tomohiro Ishii
* Toru Yano
* Shingo Takagi
* Tetsuya Naito
* Zack Sabre Jr.
* The Great O-Khan
* KENTA
* Tanga Loa
* Yujiro Takahashi

Block B

* Hiroshi Tanahashi
* Kazuchika Okada
* Hirooki Goto
* YOSHI-HASHI
* SANADA
* Taichi
* Jeff Cobb
* EVIL
* Tama Tonga
* Chase Owens

Admittedly a weaker line up than last year. Heavy hitters like Juice, Suzuki, Mox, Ospreay & Jay White are all stateside and won't be able to get back in time. That's gonna hit the quality hard. Lot of the Bullet Club B-team are involved. Tama Tonga making his return for the first time in 3 years. Tonga Roa & Chase Owens making their debuts. Yujiro, the guy with the worst record last year, being brought back. We also have the Great O-Khan making his tournament debut, the lone Empire rep for A Block. Same with Cobb in B block. Zack and Taichi are in the same boat being lone reps for Suzuki-gun. It would've been nice for there to have been some cross company surprises for the first time since 2016, but stateside commitments and quarantine may have prevented that.  Was really hoping we'd get the likes of Moose, Lance Archer, Joe Doering, Rhyno or Brody King be guests. This also puts to rests the rumors of calling up juniors like Hiromu, SHO or El Despy. Probably for the best since BotSJ will be starting like a month later. Not a good idea to put your guys through back to back Round Robins.

However there are a few positives to take away from this. Lots of inter-faction matches.  Any combo of KENTA/Tonga Roa/ Yujiro in A block.  EVil/ Tama Tonga/ Chase Owens in B block. BC vs. BC matches are always fun to watch. Goto & Yoshi-Hashi clash in a battle of tag partners. We're getting Tanahashi vs. Okada for the first time in over two years. Ibushi is gonna have a fun block against Naito, Ishii, ZSJ & KENTA. But of particular interest is Ibushi vs. the as of writing IWGP WHC, Shingo Takagi. They teased this rematch back in April. I wouldn't be surprised if they save this for one of the final nights. The man who created the IWGP WHC vs. The man who is defining it's legacy. Also some fun fights in the first meeting between Shingo and ZSJ, and an inter LIJ battle between Naito & Takagi. Who is really the leader of Los Ignobernables de Japon? The founder or the champ?

NJPW is turning lemons into lemonade. BC B-team have a chance to step the hell up. Taichi & ZSJ look to be getting pushed up the card. This could be the breakout tournament for Yoshi-Hashi. And this could be the time for NJPW to reaffirm their faith in Shingo Takagai as a main eventer, not just as a place holder champ.

As to who will win? Really hard to say. I think Ibushi needs a do over as COVID fricked over his crowning moment last year and Shingo vs. Ibushi is the best choice for WrestleKingdom headline match. But him winning three years in a row is a sketchy proposition. DO to make that match still happen, I'm thinking Shingo wins as champion and chooses his opponents. Ibushi on one night, and the man claiming to still be champion in a Micheals/Razor type of deal, Will Ospreay. Other than that, I don't think anyone else has any real momentum right now.

So this is gonna be a peculiar tournament. What matches are you all looking forward to and who do you wanna see win it all?

Lived up to its name. In the words of Stone Cold Steve Austin: "That's all I gotta say about that!" without getting into spoilers. :twismile:

And then some. Actually watched All Out in theaters. You haven't lived until you've seen wrestling on the big screen.

Does watching the cinematic masterpiece "Ready to Rumble" count? :twismile:

In all seriousness, that sounds AWESOME! B)

You actually paid to see that in theaters?

And it was. Paid half the price I would've ordering it too. AEW's production suits itself well to cinema. Certainly helped with Kojima's entrance. It felt like the clock was turned back 10 years. He felt like a megastar again. Amazing what good production, a live crowd and the announcers giving a damn can do for one's presentation.

Does being a kid of the Monday Night War era give me a pass? Plus when you're a kid you don't really care as long as it's wrestling. :please:

I may be an Attitude Era fan but AEW has made me love wrestling again, I said it once and I said it again.

I’m an AEW fan forever and now I need to order this PPV, I read about it and I’m excited.

I loved Ready To Rumble, lol. ^^

If you took out Cody Rhodes I think I'd like this as an Elite Supergroup. I'm just not a fan of Cody's.

Also, I had a kinda scary vision after reading about the closure of NXT Japan of WWE taking over New Japan and doing nothing with Okada, Naito etc. :blink:

I'm pretty sure Princess Luna isn't a wrestling fan unless, she's a fan of Cheerilee's sister.

Good news everypony!

Minoru Suzuki's theme song Kaze Ni Nare by Ayumi Nakamura (no relation to Shinsuke) has just risen to #1 on iTunes American Jpop billboard.

Either that All Out appearance got people hookedon The King and his magnificent music or the Suzuki fanbase is still pissed off about when AEW cut Suzuki's music off before the chorus.

You never cut off Suzuki's theme song before the Kaze ni nare!

Also they had to cut the match short when Suzuki's eye started gushing.

Edit: it may have been a miscue. They got the sign that they have X minutes in the show. Which means wrap it the hell up, you're running long. When in reality, it's like you X minutes in the match. So they could've milked another 5 minutes. That's how long Mox celebrated with the hometown crowd. He wanted a big match for his people and he would've gotten it with Suzuki had they gotten more time. That and the commercial break derailed things.

But unlike some wrestling feds, AEW are actually self aware. And whether it was Mox or Suzuki or the boys in the back or the Suzuki-army online, AEW know they gaffed and are course correcting. Suzuki will be back next week and he'll get to reunite with his co-2011 world tag league winner, Lance Archer. Both are already ranting and raving about the disrespect shown by AEW for cutting off Kaze ni Nare.

Fingers crossed that this leads us to Mox vs. Suzuki III at Arthur Ashe.

So until then, have some fun with the original!

The Young Bucks

I'm honestly not a fan of either of these guys as far as in-ring content is concerned.

I know they don't only use superkicks, but that's what it feels like to me whenever I watch one of their matches.
