gaming I just played Sonic '06...

...And it really isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I only died twice on the mach speed section, but after I figured out how to do it, it was a piece of cake. I also beat the Silver boss fight in one try and got an A rank.

Yeah that game isn't even near as bad as people make it out to be. Shadow's missions came off the most annoying of the three, despite being my favorite character, but it's not like the game is pure garbage, unlike Sonic Boom. x)

Never did beat that game despite how often I owned it. But it was pretty fun, especially with the rare glitches I got.

At the advice of slowbeef, the best way to play Sonic 06 is not to touch anything. You will thus significantly reduce the chances of the game killing you with random collisions or some such nonsense.

This I can definitely abide by.

I never touch anything at the start of section 2 of Crisis City until Sonic lands on the rail.

So... The Angry Video Game Nerd lied to me about it being a horrid game? Maybe I should give it a try sometime?

I came by this topic because I thought you would probably need a hug. Do you need hug? I agree though. People may poke fun at it but it isn't as bad as I expected it to be. The only thing that really, really bugged me was when Sonic kisses what's-her-name. Like, ew. I also think it isn't recognised as being hard. More unforgiving than anything, like the Silver battle. I think you were lucky to beat it that fast.

If you have a tolerance for awkward controls, then maybe. I really wouldn't recommend this game unless you're a Sonic fan and deliberately want to play it. It is by no means a good game, but it's not nearly as bad as people say.

The slide kick is your friend in that battle. You can hit Silver and still keep your momentum to get away from him.

Make no mistake. The game is a broken mess. You won't get out of it without raging at glitches that shouldn't have happened, physics that'll kill you for no apparent reason and controls that will make you want to disappear the game when you are trying to precisely land on a platform and fail because the game decides a slight movement of the joystick should move you ten feet in that direction instead of a few inches.

The end of the game is an exercise in near-futility when there are vortexes that will pull you in twenty different directions while you're trying to platform your way through the final stages with the already crappy physics.

The loading times are also horrendous which doesn't help matters. You die, you sit through at least 30 seconds of loading screen before you respawn. You fail a side mission and you get the same result. There's one mission in particular that will have you sitting through more loading screens than actually playing because every time you fail a single round it will go to a loading screen because who the fuck knows.

That said the game's story, music and level designs are everything a great Sonic game should be so it may still be worth playing through.

One of my favorite things about Sonic 06 was how in the middle of some levels other characters would get a chance to be playable for a little while and the level design would change to incorporate each character's unique abilities.

They've stopped using multiple characters since then for the most part though. The closest we've had is Sonic Generations with the friend challenge levels which allowed Sonic to call on other characters to do something with/for him to help him through the stage.

I thought it was alright myself, certainly wasn't the best in the series. I just coulden't tolerate all the loading screens and their load times.

It felt like every few mins i was being hit with a loading screen where there should not have been a loading screen.

I honestly don't have a problem with the loading screens. The loading screens in Generations are just as long, if not longer.

It's like Enter the Dragonfly was for the Spyro series. It's bad to some, playable to others, horrid to the rest.

I might try it one day, but only if I get it real cheap. I loved Sonic Colors, so I'm not really enthusiastic about acquiring it. XD

Yeah, Enter the Dragonfly is like Spyro '06 in a sense.

If you really like Sonic; I'd get it. If you're kind of meh on the series, then don't.

Enter The Dragonfly was at least playable. Most of the glitches are uncommon or you have to go out of your way to even find them. Sonic 06 borders on completely unplayable, especially if you don't have the patience for it.

And Sonic Colors is arguably one of the best Sonic games of all time so don't go in expecting Sonic 06 to be anything like it. It's actually more like one of the Adventure games. For all intents and purposes Sonic 06 was the Sonic Adventure 3 that everyone wanted.

Sonic '06 is playable if you take it slow (which sounds odd since it's a Sonic game), and don't try anything fancy.

The difference is that Sonic 06 is playable if you, the player, makes an effort to avoid what you know is there or could be there in the way of bugs and glitches.

Enter the Dragonfly still plays normally and if you run into a glitch at all it's pure chance, though the chances are still higher than in other games.

You can literally be running down the road and fall off because the game decides you hit a bump in the road. Enemies can kill you even though you're in the attacking animation and should be hitting them. EtD doesn't have any of these types of problems and you don't have to go out of your way just to play the game like a normal person.

Well, I remember when Enter the Dragonfly was released, and people's experiences varied. Some couldn't get passed the opening level for the game crashing so much. I personally had glitches come out of no where, though I was still able to beat it.

But yeah, I loved the Adventure games at least, but '06 looks completely different to me. XD

'06 is a lot like the Adventure games. It's got hubworlds, the semi-non linear level design, and the more in depth story.

I played it, and I did think it was pretty bad, I got frustrated at all the mach speed sections, but I managed to complete the game. Oh yeah, the final level sucks bad. Worst game I've personally played, but I know to stay away from the notorious ones.

Ah, Sonic '06. Never has there been so terrible a game that I also adored so much for some reason. It's probably a nostalgia thing.

Anyway, I personally remember the pool-type puzzle with Silver in Dusty Desert being the most frustrating part of the game, even more so than the mach speed sections.

I think the game's just bad. The music is pretty good, but everything else isn't. The physics are off, it's rife with bugs, the camera is jittery as all hell and it was overall just an unpleasant experience.

The glitches to exploit are entertaining, though.
