I'm also getting the feeling that ricto may be the one behind Chip's shipments being ransacked. Ricto's comment about Chip's shop when he would of been aware of the shop's situation, so kind of brings front a taunting feeling on the comment. as well as it's assumed Chip would of asked for help about the shipments in the past. Ricto would of refused so he could keep getting his hooves on gun supplies for private weapons and for selling for extra money.

That could work. Perhaps he a double-life, some kind of partnership with someone corrupt and in some kind of power

With Ricto intercepting the supplies he would have the capital to buy outside weapons, as well as there would be some prebuilt weapons in those shipments as well. Even though Chip doesn't have the supplies to keep high grade guns made he is still an asset when it comes to repairing weapons and defenses.

 

So the reason behind this conflict could be rooted between Ricto and Chip's father. Perhaps Chip's father did something to piss Ricto off. Maybe he was ponyville's previous gunsmith and abandons them for a new settlement who would be more in need of his services, so now Ricto takes it out on Chip since his father is dead.

We can use it to transport goods or troops. Kinda like a troop carrier, but its farts would literally kill you if you're dumb enough to inhale it similar to a camel. (I just might make a raider do this...)
