technology Do anime blu rays matter?

Now I am a little bummed. Had a field day on eBay with collectors items I got coming in about a week. I got Mahou Sensei Negima, all the OVAs and the final movie. These are collector items in DVD format. I am using them for another purpose. These discs are the native japanese audio. I am going to be doing the most proffesional fan dub I can possibly do.

I am going to region hack my blu ray player. Then record with the HDPVR2 or if I'm fortunate, Nvidia Shadowplay.

I mean the blu ray upscales the quality a tad bit. I am also mad because they released blu rays of 3 OVAs( not all I don't know why) and they're japanese and can be played on a US PS3...

Just madness.
