movies/tv What Popular YouTube phenomenon will Nickelodeon adapt next?

Since at least iCarly, Nickelodeon has been trying to adapt whatever popular (or not so popular) YouTube sensation to TV. First it Fred, then It was Awesomeness TV, Then it was Web Heads, then Breadwinners, then React to That, now they're making a new gaming sitcom which will most likely try to get as many YT LPers on at once. What's Nickelodeon going to take from YouTube next? RWBY?! (God lets hope not)

Breadwinners was one cartoon on the internet. It wasn't that popular. So it's not the same as Fred or React to That.

Luckily, Fred was cancelled ages ago. WebHeads has been cancelled, as has Awesomeness TV and React To That hasn't been renewed.

Yeah that's what bugs me about Nick, all their attempts at adapting Internet content to television failed, Yet they continue to do it anyway. When will Nickelodeon learn that kids are already surfing YouTube on a regular basis? Hell, many of them already have an account and upload videos.

Nickelodeon isn't the only one, though. Cartoon Network infamously brought the Annoying Orange from YouTube to the small screen. I can't think of any other attempts though.

Yeah, luckily Cartoon Network have no shows based off web-shows. Though, they do have an upcoming show called We Bare Bears which is based off an amazing web-comic.

Yeah That was Cartoon Network's attempt. But still, they at least learned that porting internet content to TV is pointless, Nickelodeon, has not.

Well one of their upcoming shows I think is based on a webtoon called Pig Goat Banana Cricket. They were lucky not to get Annoying Orange. Maybe they'll get Smosh, PewDiePie, JonTron, Game Grumps, College Humor, the possibilities are endless.

PGBC wasn't a webtoon. The pilot was shown to Nick, then they uploaded it on the internet after Nick had decided to make it.

Imagine if they adapted the Angry Video Game Nerd.

It would probably be horrible.

Part of what would make that terrible is that he would have to be toned down. AVGN not being able to swear is like PewDiePie not being able to scream. It just doesn't work.

This short film was picked up by Nick a while ago..

It actually looks like a pretty decent cartoon, I hope it turns out good. Chris Savino created it, who also worked on Dexter's Laboratory and Powerpuff Girls.

That was part of Nick's shorts program though. I'm talking about taking YouTube properties and adapting them to TV.

Nickelodeon was dead to me years ago, but if they try to make some kind of show based on Let's Players, then all of my hope that could ever be mustered for that network would be gone. It's barely there to begin with.

I really feel like that network is completely out of touch from reality. Like many other TV stations now..

Sadly, my guess would be something to do with Let's Players.
