zombienixon 330 May 15, 2015 Share May 15, 2015 Yes. It sounds absolutely stupid online, and even more so in person. I remember back when I played TF2, whenever I was on a pony server, and someone would say "everypony", I'd just go, "Who the f**k said everypony? No. No. Bad." They call me Loyalty 1,948 May 15, 2015 Share May 15, 2015 I use "somepony" when therozing on subjects with ponies as the main focus. It feels fitting, since I'm speaking about them. There's quite a lot of acceptance for new words, coming from me. It's almost like my mind is far away from being a narrow corridor. Crazy, isn't it?I love when people use new words, when they're creative beyond what they've been taught. It's truly inspiring!
whitetiger187 197 May 15, 2015 Share May 15, 2015 (edited) I don't get the hate for the word. I find it to be a rather cynical and superficial to get worked up about it. I mean it just a piece of affectionate fan lingo. It's all fun. Edited May 15, 2015 by whitetiger187

galaxysquid 2,122 November 19, 2015 Share November 19, 2015 Eh, only when someone says it when they aren't on a pony related site/topic. Otherwise I don't mind too much. ^^ My OC, Starlight. EverEverOn 346 November 19, 2015 Share November 19, 2015 I've never heard it used outside of the internet, but I don't really mind it being used in the first place.
Guest November 19, 2015 Share November 19, 2015 (edited) Yes, I find it extremely cringy - same with "everypony", "brohoof" etc. Edited November 19, 2015 by Guest
Chara 1,565 November 19, 2015 Share November 19, 2015 Somepony on the internet is okay with me, but when I hear it in real life it kind of freaks me out. signature made by myself.
Trottermare Galamane 12,005 November 19, 2015 Share November 19, 2015 Here's me thinking it's mandatory on this site haha, Never really heard it said outside of this site though...(or I might just not have noticed being new to the whole brony thing) points from 42 =139 and 2 coupons
rarity1 461 November 20, 2015 Share November 20, 2015 Nope, not at all. Probably it would be if it is used around non-bronies.
Malinter 3,064 November 20, 2015 Share November 20, 2015 I say it both online and in reallife but only when actually refering to a pony (real or imagined!) so i'm using the term correctly so if it makes you cringe... you're just weird. StormLantern the 1st 427 November 20, 2015 Share November 20, 2015 I'm kind of in the same boat as some of the folks here. I don't mind hearing it in the context of the show or a brony discussion, but I've got at least one friend who uses it on normal social media, and it bugs me for some reason. As for myself, even here I tend to use words and phrases that wouldn't sound out of place in either context, e.g. folks instead of people or ponies. I've gotta keep on moving.I got troubles on my mind. Each day I'm getting stronger.
Randimaxis 8,654 November 20, 2015 Share November 20, 2015 Imagine: You're in the midst of a yelling match between two young (under 10) children and a loud TV. You've tried again and again to get them to quiet down... and the remote is nowhere to be found. Myself? I cried out, "EVERYPONY JUST SHUT UP!" ... and even the TV went quiet for a moment (transition to commercials). My kids stared at me for a moment, then burst into laughter. As did I. Moods altered. Argument over. Crisis averted. The embarrassment, though, will last me a lifetime. *chuckle* 2 ===== ( 0 ) ===== Fnord.
KatonRyu 1,033 November 21, 2015 Share November 21, 2015 (edited) I cringe over it online as well. I like the show, and I use the word in fanfics because they need to be in character, but I truthfully don't like the phrase at all. Even in-universe I don't think it adds anything because words like someone and somebody can apply to humans just as easily. We don't say somehuman either, so why would ponies go with somepony? In this only, I wish FiM would follow G1, where they used the normal words for it. That said, I don't mind any of the other pony-related in universe substitutions like 'hooves' for 'hands'. Those make sense. I still cringe when people IRL or online use them though. Edited November 21, 2015 by KatonRyu
Hazy Skies 1,010 November 21, 2015 Share November 21, 2015 I use it anywhere that is specifically about ponies, I usually say "somepony" in posts and status updates, but usually only when I'm talking about ponies in particular, If I'm talking about humans I say "someone" ... because humans aren't ponies I'd even use it on other sites if the subject is ponies
