Do you think the writers are targeting bronies in the show too?

Sure.

I don't remember, Derpy was made by the show, but by the fans. And some other references, especially topics for older people, like losing someone(Tank for the memories), several situations with love(Rarity x Spike or the Trenderhoof episode), feelings, that shows them, reality isnt always shiny and happy(The "Key"-episodes in S4), fighting scenes, darker themes and hopeless situations(Often the double episodes)

Sure, some stuff may come anyway, but I don't think S4 and S5 would be the same, if our fandom wouldnt exist ... if S4 and S5 then even existed

Yep, there are a lot more serious and/or mature themes in MLP than in other kids' shows. And the show creators are well aware of the vast brony community, so of course they'll do their best to carter to our tastes!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we are not the focus. Several times, I think they've given us a nod, or purposely rolled with keeping up with certain background characters (in the background), but no, I'm pretty sure the stories and plots they're working with are geared towards little girls more than any other group.

I think they like to give us a wink now and then, but their primary concern will always be the target demographic.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

No, Big Jim Miller has tweeted that they are focusing and the show's intended demographic.

I suppose treating the audience like they are intelligent makes it look like it is targeted towards us! happy.png

I don't think the writers are targeting bronies specifically. But I don't think they are targeting Little Girls either.

I think they are just trying to make the show for all ages, something that both can enjoy.

The show has a certain demographic, and that is what the writers go for. Granted they may throw references around for the older crowd, but that doesn't mean they cater to the bronies.

Let me add that we do sometimes get a little fan service and what not but the show is primarily produced for little girls so while there are somethings on the show that are an acknowledgement of the Brony fandom but the main focus is still their target demograph.

In my opinion, one of the biggest hints of the fandom acknowledging by part of the writers is that they actually vinculated Tavi and Vinyl in a Cards game and in one of the recent episodes.

Recognizing that most people ships them in a romantic manner, this long-shot should be more recognized.

I think that they are still writing for the intended audience, but they are probably creeping these and other forums for inspiration. They wanted to make a show that respects the intelligence of children. They obviously did that since they ended up attracting adults to the stories. But not just any adults. Adults that can appreciate children's programming. Bronies are the perfect group of people to ask for feedback on a kids' show because we have tastes similar to children, but we can articulate our thoughts better than they do. How many forums full of five year olds exist out there? So when we said: "I wish Rainbow Dash would get a solo song", they listened. When they tested the waters of adding a romantic interest for Twilight and most of us (even the ones who like Flash) said "no way", they listened. Twilight is a princess who doesn't wear a crown or act regal because we raged online and reminded them of why she's a likable character in the first place. And you guys, it was totally because of us that Derpy is back and derpier than ever.

We're like the man/womanchild consultants for the show.

Damn right. I really would not be surprised if the FiM staff lurk on these forums just to know what we think about their episodes.

They do small bits of fanservice that do not ruin the show in anyway and I like to think that half the reason they haven't made any crap till now is because they do what you said, they listen to our opinions and make slight changes to the show based on our reception.
