Is Diamond Tiara a well written character?

I like her as a character (albeit, mainly due to fan portrayals of her), but I do agree she's not a very impressive character from a writing standpoint. She's gotten absolutely no character development throughout the whole series. At least Silver Spoon has her moments. I'd like to see a CMC episode that focused on developing Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. I think it'd be a nice deviation from your typical CMC episode, and with the direction this season is going regarding cutie marks, I think they could make it work.

I think her character isn't badly written, just the same typical bitchy mean girl we see in every show, movie, or work of fiction. I don't care for her much though, but that's just my opinion.

I think she is a badly written character, but intentionally.

You see, her going from bad to downright insane when making fun of the young (because Scoots hasn't really grown up enough yet) isn't really character development. It's just a 'desperate times call for desperate measures' scenario. A badly written character comes off as someone we're going to dislike. I mean, let's face it, who actually likes her? I'm pretty sure her parents despise her.

Right now, Diamond Tiara has no depth and is just the typical "mean girl." In other words, generic. But I think that she has a lot of potential to be a well-rounded character; some Fimfics of her as the main character attest to this fact (e.g. "Diamond Tiara Buys a New Sister" ).

Many fans would say "no." And they would also rank the episodes in which she has a major role as anywhere from passable to personal favorites, with just one or two exceptions.

I think the fact of the matter is, the writers know exactly what they're doing with her. Other villains have gotten scenes portraying them as cool, or thoughtful, or sympathetic, or something other than "mean," but that's because they're not the same kind of obstacle Diamond Tiara is. When your life is being made a little bit worse by some jerk who has no real need to do these things to you, you don't wish you knew more about them so you could feel sorry for them or understand them; you wish you knew how to brush them out of your hair once and for all. And the reason you feel the crusaders' pain the same way when she picks on them is because that's the light you see her in, which you wouldn't if she were "enjoyably" bad or sympathetic/understandable. (Though we do know enough to assume why she does these things, since she's spoiled girl who seemingly never had to work hard for anything.)

Queen Chrysalis, Trixie, the Flim Flam Brothers, they're all characters that you hate to love. Diamond Tiara is a character that you love to hate.

I think she is. Just cuz she's not a likeable character doesn't mean she's badly written. It obviously wasn't their original intention to have people like her

I also share the same opinion, amigo. She is a bully and people don't usually like bullies.

I think Diamond Tiara can be 3 dimension character if the writer can make an episode to explain her motives, why she become this way... Or at least "even evil has a standard" trope is good enough. I heard ss5 Tiara will get some treatment, cant wait :))

I think she's a character who is meant to be hated. If you dislike her, that means she's well written. :P

Ehh, she written the way she SHOULD be an she serves exactly the purpose she should. I think she's written perfectly for an uppity, self-adoring high-class bully.

I think Silver Spoon should be a little bit more of a foil to her though, because I feel SS may not be intrinsically evil, or at least maybe the two could have a little more contrast as characters. SS barely gets any good lines, even.

DT has some potential to be more than just a one-note bully and a manifestation of the stereotype of the spoiled, mean popular girl who only likes people who can get her what she wants, but the writers really don't take any chances to build on that.

She's a one-trick pony, just like Snips and Snails, whose antics are getting old. She's in real need of some character development, namely a serious event that gets her to question her very motivations.

She seems to ba a character written to piss us off, And she really has made most of us hate her. So yeah, I'd say she is well written :)
